NEED HELP! ROOTED AND WISH TO GOTO ICS SENSE 4.0 and OVERCLOCK! - HTC Sensation

Hello Dear Users!
I have been a fan of Android for years but recently I rooted my Sensation 4G and it is my first rooted device!
I need help people! I want to upgrade to ICS and possibly Sense 4.0.
I also want to overclock to the max, possibly 1.8GHz?!
What do I have on my phone? What are the stats? Well.. lets see.
Android Version: 2.3.4
HTC Sense Version: 3.0
Software Number: Android Revolution HD 3.6.2 by mike1986
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.14-Sensation-faux123-v0.2.1+
[email protected] #199
SMP PREEMPT Thu Oct 6 16:12:48 PDT 2011
Model Number reads as HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio - but I know my phone is a Sensation 4G.
Daemon Controller 2.21 Beta 1
Rom Manager
Root Explorer
Spare Parts
SuperUser
These are the apps that were added when I had my phone rooted.
Please let me know what I can do!!! Which kernel versions to download and where to download them. I mainly care to overclock my Sensation to as high as possible. The ICS is defiantly a plus, but I would be scared to brick my phone!
Please let me know guys (and girls!)
Thank You very much!

Well at the moment there is only one 4.0 rom that is close to running stable(still many buggs since its a beta/test release from the endavore)
todo first:
check cid in adb(fastboot getvar cid)and download the therefor next 3.30base firmware download here
download the rom:
forum therefore click here
how to install firmware:
put the PG58IMG.zip into root of sdcard and boot up in bootloader and let it update
remove the PG58IMG.zip from the root of sdcard by an reader
put the your_rom.zip in the root of your sdcard
superwipe
flash the rom
there u go

Im sorry if this is a dumb question but... what does this mean exactly?
check cid in adb(fastboot getvar cid)and download the therefor next 3.30base firmware
what is the checking of cid in adb?

if you root u have adb setup (normally) check cid to know what firmware to download
use the command:
fastboot getvar cid
when phone is in fasyboot usb(bootloader then click the power once to go into fastboot)

You will probably want something much more functional and stable.Go for one of the "New" sense 3.6 releases based on 3.30 firmware.Read the firmware page, follow the instructions there then flash a sense 3.6 rom

What do I need to do once my phone is in in fastboot usb mode?
I held down the power and vol and my phones connected through usb.
what should I do now to check what I need to check?
im sorry guys but I am completely new to this so if possible to do like a broken down step by step i would GREATLY appreciate it! thank you

do the next things:
check Hboot(fastboot)
check cid(fastboot usb then use command: fastboot getvar cid)
check radio(fastboot)
check rom(recovery --> info)

You need to put firmware package(PG58IMG.zip-dont rename that file) to the root of the sd card, than boot in bootloader and you will get question "do you want to update",push volume up for yes, when its done remove your sd card and with card reader or other phone remove firmware package from sd card.
Then you hold vol down and power on and you will boot in bootloader again, choose recovery and then flash your rom from your sd card.
This is the easiest way to explain, and i hope that this helped you.

Dont worry, your phone still fine. You just need to flash the correct firmware, as mentioned by Alienator9191 above.
You will notice that you will need different firmware depending on sense version you using, otherwise you will experience those annoying bootloop.
You just need to copy/paste the correct firmware on root of your mem. card and boot to recovery (remove batt, hold vol down+power). it will detect the firmware (always in form of PG58IMG.zip) and install by itself.
This site will help you with the correct firmware, depending of the version of Sense you using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Furthermore, I strongly advise you to read this thead below as it will help you a lot in flashing and rooting (am sure you already done so ;p )
The way i flash ROMS is I copy the rom and compatile firmware on root of mem card. The use Rom Manager (premium) to flash the rom directly. Then as it boots up, i go straight to bootloader and it the firmware gets flashed automatically. This may be wrong way, but quickest to do.
All the best, and happy flashing!

cid is 11111111.
how do i chjeck my radio on fastboot?
and rom?

unrooting desire s.

Probably been covered before, but I need help in returning my Desire S to stock asap and also in Laymans terms as I'm new to all this.
I managed to get S off and its running SAGA LBC Mod v0.5.3 Android 2.3.3, sense 2.1
I only have limited access to the internet today so any links would be appreciated as I need it done by tonight.
Thanks in advance.
If you have a 6.98.xxxx hboot
Change your hboot with this one
Download PG88IMG.zip, extract it and use Android Flasher to flash the exctracted hboot.img
The hboot version now should be 0.98.2000
Search in this thread for the proper RUU and install it.
If you have a custom ROM and no info about your original software version the solution is as follows:
Connect the device, enter the bootloader and type the following command in the cmd:
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main
This is the number of your original software.
If this number is higher than the one of your RUU and you cannot flash it, change the number with the version of your RUU (be careful - use the correct RUU for your brand/region!) with misc_version that can be found here - post #1, link from step 1.
Cheers for that. I'll be trying it soon when my daughter goes to bed. Only part that is confusing me is where is the CMD. Probably a total noob question, sorry.

Looking for a Asia India officialRUU rom for Sensation

I have changed other rom! but Sensation recently will update to V4.0,the problem is that it need the original official Rom! who can give me one?thank u!
somebody please do me a favour!
The Indian RUU was posted once by @imblfmstr but all those people who maintain list of stock roms for all regions didn't seem to care about it and the thread was lost.
And now to make it even worse, due to some idiotic laws posed by governments, the file sharing site on which it was posted was taken down.
I have it but do not have internet connection fast enough to upload it. Will see if I can do anything.
I have it, will upload in a while
Do you mind if I give it tomorrow? I tried uploading to 4shared, but it stopped at 92% and i have to start all over again :/

Check if you are doing this:
1. Connect your phone through USB, enable USB debugging
2. Run command prompt, change directory to adb
3. Check if your device serial is shown by running adb devices
4. Once you see your device serial shown correctly, type adb reboot-bootloader
5. Device will reboot into fastboot and you would see Fastboot USB on phone screen
6. Once there , type fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
7. Next type fastboot reboot-bootloader
8. After you type the last line, you should see S-On at the top of the bootloader screen. If so, you are all set.
let me know if this helped

1. Go to Settings -> Power and disable Fastboot.
2. Reboot the phone into the bootloader
3. Relock the bootloader by using the command "fastboot oem lock" from cmd (this is assuming you have the Android sdk on your computer, if you don't, go get it). I believe this causes your phone to reboot as well. If it does, just get back to the bootloader once it's done booting up again.
4. Enter Fastboot
5. Install HTC Sync on your PC (for drivers and such)
6. Connect your phone to your PC and let it install the drivers and what whatever Windows needs to do. You should see the text on your phone read FASTBOOT USB when it's done
7. Download the latest RUU from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1670238
8. Run the RUU (it's an exe, just run it like normal)
9. Follow the instructions and you'll be back to stock. The process takes like 10-15 minutes

You can if you have superCID, you can check by typing "fastboot getvar cid" and making sure it's 11111111 (uhhh...I think it's 8 digits, don't remember, it just has to be all 1's).

You mean you don't have superCID or you can't find your cid? Everyone phone has one (it's sort of an id number of sorts).
Go ahead and just run the RUU, it'll yell at you if you don't have superCID and try to downgrade. If it goes fine, then you're good.

[Q] Help!! Issue installing CM10

Hello forum,
I was trying to install CM10 onto my AT&T HTC One X and am stuck.
I had TWRP on my phone and said that the installation process failed.
After that I hit reset to factory setting.
All I can do not is open the HTC Intro screen and will automatically turn itself on if you power it off.
Other than that I can open HBOOT and that is about it.
Please help. I don't care what OS I use, I just want my phone to work, whether it is ICS or CM10, whichever is easiest to reach from my point.
Other than this, my PC and Mac don't seem to detect my HTC One X in the Computer panel (or Finder), but my phone says that Fastboot USB is connected.
Guys, I am sorry for being a noob, but am worried I have done many wrong steps.
Please help me fix this mess.

Guys, I am sorry for being a noob, but am worried I have done many wrong steps.
Please help me fix this mess.
Thank you.

Okay. So:
1) The firmware is 2.20.
2) The phone can go to the intro screen and will sit there until you power it off. Nothing happens, I waited a 40 some minutes and nothing happened at the intro screen. The only thing I can access is HBOOT and the Intro screen.
3) HBOOT is 1.14. 0002
Hmm.. same issue.. see other threads.. you need to extract and flash boot.img from ROM.zip separately( through fastboot) when you flash any rom.. and if the installation process itself fails.. try downloading ROM.zip again.. check md5 and ensure it matches.. then flash

ok do the following
1)Connect your phone to your pc
2) Boot in Bootloader ( i.e where you see HBOOT)
3) Now you can see "FASTBOOT USB"
4) Extract boot.img from ROM you downloaded ( here it is CM10 - Unzip and copy boot.img and paste it in folder that contains fastboot )
4) Goto the folder where pasted boot.img and fasboot exists ( Assuming you have it on pc - if not download from here) and open command prompt in it (Or open command prompt and change directory (cd) to the folder where fastboot and boot.img exits )
5) In command prompt enter the following command fastboot flash boot boot.img and press enter
6) Now flash the ROM and enjoy
Read this post - IF your on HBOOT 1.14 (firmware 2.20) first flash boot.img then flash ROM
5)

[Q] How to root Desire S, S-OFF, hboot 2.00.0002, android 4.0.4

Hello people. Just one question. I searched on google and here on xda how to do it but still Im not sure how to do it. I have HTC Desire S, S-OFF with 2.00.002 hboot version and 4.0.4. android version. How do I permanetly root? The official 4.0.4 is kinda laggy, at least for me. I tried few methods but still nothing.. And, I found few methods like for 0.98 hboot or 2.3.5. android but my phone isnt that so Im not sure will it work. Thanks im advance

Is your bootloader unlocked? If so then flash a custom recovery and flash a custom ROM, they all tend to be pre-rooted.
Sent from my Desire S using xda app-developers app
You're already S-OFF so you don't need to worry about most steps in guides.
I assume you have a custom recovery? You can just flash one of the superuser/superSU zip packages. (Desire S uses ARM).
You may also need to flash busybox.
My good gentlemen,
he says the phone is s off already
If you want to ROOT your phone (my case: Desire S , Mfc date: 2011-July ). This is the procedures i learned from China Android forums, at least it works on Me.!!
Make Sure your Hboot is 2.00.0002
Prepare 2 files first: Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip and su-bin-3.0.3.2-efghi-signed.zip
(you should find those on the internet)
First:
Recovery --> install Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip from SDcard, and Reboot;
Second:
Recovery --> Install su-bin-3.0.3.2-efghi-signed.zip from SDcard Again and Reboot.
Usually, your phone should be Rooted.!!
Have Fun
Thanks for answers Well, the only thing I wanna do is flash a custom rom, and I dont know do I need rooted device for that? If I dont, what do I need? And, how can I check is my bootloader unlocked? And, where can I find a custom recovery? Can anyone link me please? Thanks ^^
I learned few things on my old Desire but this seems little complicated If isnt a probem, can anyone give me a step by step guide what I have to do to start flashing custom roms or something? I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Reboot to bootloader and check the first and second lines of text there...
first states < unlocked > if it was unlocked
second at the end: s-off.... or s- on
If your device realy was: s- off,
then your bootloader does not perform check of a signature,
so, in human language means: you may flash anything you want
custom recovery: clockworkmod or 4ext,
you may find in index thread for desire s...
here is the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146601
there you can find tutorials about flashing, rooting etc, etc...all you`ll need
here is another link to the help thread, where you may ask questions if you
stumbled somewhere, along the way
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143855
one more thing: when choosing roms, you should only flash roms for your device
htc desire s ( that`ll save you headaches )
Erm.. Just checked and it says bootloader is locked :/ It is S-OFF but locked. How can I unlock it? On HTCdev or? Thanks

I`ve never had stock s-off device ( always had to do it myself )
but if you phone was never rooted before and its security flag is set to s- off,
then i think its bootloader will never check manufacturer`s signature
Try this:
download from the market or from 4ext thread (index thread )
< 4ext recovery updater > and from within that application,
try to install recovery ( you`ll need it anyway )
if that`ll turn out to be succesful, then your phone is ready for the ride...
Go to the thread from the second link ( help thread )
and ask there whether device that is s- off, needs its bootloader to be unlocked
in order to be ready to flash custom roms...
To unlock bootloader you may try comand ( not sure if that would work for you )
fastboot oem unlock
issued to you phone through comand prompt ...
Prior to this action you should set up ADB on your pc,
and of course install the drivers for your device...
Says this what I attached. What now?

Ok then...
you have to flash recovery via fastboot
1. download and set up adb and drivers for you phone ( and install them )
2. download recovery ( clockworkmod or 4ext )
3.extract < recovery_xxxyyy.img > from the zip file- if you downloaded it zipped...
4.rename file to < recovery.img > and place it in the folder
where you`ve placed ADB
5.open command prompt and issue command:
cd c:\name of the folder with ADB [ enter ]
6. reboot your phone to bootloader and wire it to you pc
7. issue command:
fastboot devices
if your device has been recognised( list of devices attached xxxyyy05321...)
you`ll see your phone`s ID
8. issue command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
9. reboot bootloader, and from its option choose recovery
10. from recovery you may flash < superuser.zip >
if you just want your current rom rooted
or via recovery you may flash custom rom...
Alright mate thanks a lot. Im gonna try that as soon as I come home. Just one thing more, any chance of bricking my device? While doing that.

To be honest, when fiddling with phone`s system, bootloader etc..
however small- there is always a chance that you may manage to brick it,
but i`ve been followiing the above mentioned procedures- and many others before me,
many times, and it was always working without a problem,
it was tested and shared, first by the great ones among us,
so one may call them safe to perform,
but you should always remember to be careful,
and better read or ask twice, before doing something you do not fully understand
Ok just to make sure Im doing everything alright.
First, nothing to do with bootloader? Unlock or something?
Next, I create new folder on my pc on C partiton (because of cmd prompt you've said?), download adb and phone drivers and place them in the folder. Then install the drivers. Afterwards, download recovery and place it in the folder with adb and phone drivers and rename to recovery.img. Next, I reboot phone in bootloader and flash recovery. Then I have to reboot in bootloader again, how to? Phone will turn off so I can reboot in bootloader or what? Then I go in recovery, flash superuser.zip for rooted phone and afterwards flash custom rom. Thats it?

In bootloader, there is an option to reboot it,
While in fastboot usb mode, bootloader is the first option,
go into it (power button )....
There you can also find < recovery > option....
@chorba69
Go here and find the zip download link (here), extract to same folder as fastboot/adb (and optionally md5 check).
Reboot your phone into Fastboot (reboot to bootloader and if there is an option "fastboot", choose it, else you're already there)
Connect by USB (see the "+files" in my signature if you need windows drivers so your computer understands it's an android phone)
Open a command prompt window (hold shift, right click in the folder, open command prompt..)
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Wait for flash, if you see a message like "waiting for device", your phone isn't connected, you're on the wrong screen on your phone or your computer doesn't have the drivers installed.
Reboot back into bootloader
vol up/down, power button to choose Recovery
You now have a custom recovery (and you're viewing it), now you just have to select your zip from sdcard to flash it (this time the zip is the superuser/whatever).
Backups save phone's lives!
I'm curious about the first line of your hboot (after locked/unlocked/relocked)? e.g. mine is "SAGA PVT ENG S-OFF", if yours says "SAGA PVT SHIP S-OFF" then you're "radio s-off" and can do things like change your phones CID (let it use any network). If it's ENG S-OFF and not pre owned, then you're very lucky indeed (and some people might want more info about/a copy of your hboot)!
Paulie, I attached the image as you can see. Says it's PVT SHIP S-OFF. Do I need to do something before flashing recovery and superuser/rom etc? Or it's not important? Whats the difference anyways between PVT and ENG? And thanks ^^
Mhm. Just tried to flash recovery but recieved this message (attached). Im on FASTBOOT USB screen on phone and in the right directory on pc. Do I need to set up adb or something? Or what do I have to do now?
PVT is expected there, SHIP seems to mean "this version is for general release" whereas "ENG" signifies that it is an ENGineering version.

I'm surprised you got this error. S-OFF should've meant you had no problem. Instead, you can try using the PG88IMG.zip method. Place the file in the root directory of your phone's SD card, reboot to bootloader and it should detect it and ask you if you want to apply the update.
Remember to delete/rename/move this zip file after it's done, as you'll not be able to use your bootloader normally whilst it is detected.
If you still get another error message, let us know!
Please be careful with the file below.
P88IMG.zip MD5: 729f7b435eadf6321ffc36d1da6a0f83
recovery.img MD5: b81b154d1381c9a7f23be39b645be38b

Hmm. So after I put that file on SD card, I have to flash it or flash the recovery.img? Or just when I put it and enter bootloader it will automatically start flashing the recovery?
