you can unlock it via htcdev and then use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195275 to root it.
And yes xda has a forum for wildfire s

Has anyone managed to root this version yet? If so, any idea where I can find a guide?

My phone got the ota update to 4.0.4 and I now want to root my device and every method doesn't work If anyone sees anything or tried anything that worked for this android version of the one x please let me know I need to root my device asap.. or if there is a way to downgrade and then root. Please please help. thanks
There are so many threads about this its not even funny any more. In short there is nothing you can do at this time and down grading sounds like it may never happen so your stuck until someone figures out a root exploit for the new hboot :fingerscrossed:

Seriously? There's 2 other threads on the first page of Q+A about it and a couple on the first page of general as well. Search before posting. That said, unless you were previously bootloader unlocked, you can't root. No ifs ands or buts.

i have HTC sensation z710e and have 4.0.3 android version with 3.32.162.11 software number
and i think it is Vodafone System cuz i buy it from Vodafone Germany
so i tried to get s-off by many ways like htc Dev Unlock Method and another ways i don't remember it
and i want to change it to s-off cuz vodafone system is very bad and slow
but i don't get s-off
and now i don't have wifi too :crying::crying::crying:
and i can't connect it to the computer

I am wanting to run this rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37060683, which inspiremod should I use? All the root kits seem to have been removed. Is there still one available somewhere for this phone?
Advanced Ace Hack Kit. You will need to Google for it; it's no longer on XDA.

thanks for the help guys, got it rooted, unlocked, and running nocturnals rom. Now I will wait until more roms come out or the n4 conversion becomes a little more user friendly
Hello im new and i Itryed the AAHK and all wa fine till my phone rebooted to downgrade it read the downgrade image but after it said the current version is older than the downgrade image i have the HTC Inspire android ver 2.3.5

You can, then, have custom ROMS on your phone without s-off.
Read THIS
