can battery be causing this? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I got some replacement batteries from amazon http://www.amazon.com/ProdiCell-Pre...NXXE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1330024998&sr=8-3 and after i started using them my phone is acting weird, sometimes i would get text messages hours after someone else send them.
I also had some SOD, with this batteries, i started using the stock battery and everything seems to be working perfect again.
Can the replacement battery be causing this problems?

Text messages would be a carrier problem, SOD's can be caused by battery, I used to get SOD's on the stock battery but then after I got a different one I had no more.

The problem is that this only happens with the replacement battery, it doesn't happen with stock.

The prodicell batteries are cheaply made and have been known to cause problems, they claim to be 1800 mah but actually have worse battery life than the stock battery.
If you have no problems with the stock battery, use the stock battery. (Unless you want to get an expensive BIG extended battery and make your phone look like a bloated whale )

More evidence some problems because of bad batteries

Had a chat with T-Mobile about getting a replacement battery due to the one I have possibly causing freezing or reboots. After a bit if annoying troubleshooting crap they ordered a warranty replacement for the battery. Only problem? They're back ordered with no eta! Perhaps they're fixing them? Will post when I get it and results.

I wouldn't worry too much about the back order. They told me the same thing and the next day I got a text saying it was shipped, I got it yesterday. They said my battery life was bad, it's still the same but at lest I've got a spare now.

I can't seem to think that batteries are at fault. I think it is just the wonky stock kernel. Have you guys tried CM7 and its default kernel?

You sir are right. Mine just shipped today - 24 hours after ordering. Why they are telling people they are on backorder makes no sense. Will post results soon.
are they just simply sending you a new battery? I would love a free extra battery since mine is always causing mine to reboot and freeze and die after 2 hours of use :eyeroll:

Yes just the battery. Not sure what they'd charge if I don't send one back and keep both.

Shouldnt be a problem. I went ahead and ordered a new battery this morning for the hell of it. Dude told me I didnt have to send the old one back or anything.
I called up for a new battery because mine is going nuts. Sitting idle with everything shut off and lost 25% in 1 hour and half. I told t-mobile that and complained that I was a loyal customer. They're sending me a new battery and letting me keep this one.
Anyone know where I can get a external charger than can charge this battery that comes with the phone? i'd buy one considering i can use both
The chargers that come with the knock off ebay batteries would prolly work.
I bought mine on ebay, just search for g2x charger...you can find two batteries and a charger for around $12.00 and they work great for me.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I have one of those chargers with those 2 batteries.
I'm a bit worried about using those 2 batteries though.... afraid to ruin my phone or I don't really want to get 4 hours use of those batteries. But the charger should definitely work then regp? Wouldn't damage my battery would it?
I cant promise it wont ruin your battery but my logic says if the battery is a clone of the original they should work in the same charger.. Check the voltage output on the battery and the charger just to make sure. I used the knock off charger for my real vibrant battery as well as the fake batteries and never had a problem.
Okay, so if the knock off charger has the same voltage and stuff, I can use it? Sounds good I guess!
I use and charge with the external charger the two knockoffs and the OEM batteries and they all work fine...
when charging batteries on the phone the knockoffs seem to run cooler...with the lg battery the phone gets hot, freezes and reboots while charging...but when charging the phone with the knockoffs it has never rebooted or frozen yet...
Edit: just jinx myself! G2x froze just now while charging with knockoff battery also...

Really? I guess I can try it out on Monday when I get the battery, I think the facebook app was the one that was screwing up my battery because it's working better without it. Not sure
If you don't explicitly sign out of chat in Facebook it will keep your phone awake. Otherwise it shouldn't hurt your battery

Still waiting for my exchange battery to arrive. The more I read the forums I have hope that's what is the cause. People are getting freezes even with cm7 which is a separate kernel. It would explain why for some people swapping out the phone worked because they got a different battery too. Lets hope I get a better battery.

Did receiving a new battery solve anyones issues?

Hey All,
I just got off with Tmobile support and they are sending me a new battery as I've been hit with the constant overheating and freeze up issues as of late. I've been able to make it not as frequent with CM7/faux's kernel with DS battery driver but it just happened again yesterday but it was while charging.
Anyone with these types of issues actually had success with a new battery or is this simply the first step to getting a replacement phone?
With the 3500 battery, it doesn't heat up anymore, but I still get random power off.

I tried calling T-Mobile on Tuesday of this week.
I was informed that I was a mere THREE DAYS over my "90-day battery warranty". I was told that T-Mobile could not and would not do anything for me. Then they tried to pass me off to LG.
Anyone else have the same issue?
They sent me 4 batteries to try (1 for each phone) and it made no difference. Plus side is I have an extra battery, bout it.
I also have the 3500 battery. It definitly does not vet as hot as the stock and I do get reboots though. I think that the slim batteey is **** because before I got the 3500 I used two battery system and they both got hot. Now when I am at home I put the big o e on the desktop and use the slim one and the slim still overheats.

[Q] Phone keeps turning off on me...

I keep having the phone turn off when I unplug it from my charger or if I don't hold the cord the right way it powers off. Now I checked the cable and the phone, the connector is fine. The other problem is I check the power level and the battery is at 100% but the moment it's unplugged it powers off again. So I replaced the battery and checked the contact pins to the battery and it's both good also.....so I am not sure what the next step is?
Can anyone please help? Also the phones never been dropped or gotten wet.
I know they keep saying that it shouldn't matter, but... might want to grab a battery calibration app or delete the battery info yourself. Alternatively, with the phone off, try to charge the battery.
Could be that the phone believes the battery is full when it's actually bone dry, and because it's disabled the charging, you're stuck whenever you aren't plugged in.
Bad battery? Is it swollen and puffy?

No, battery is good. I think the person above maybe right, if the battery is not charging because the phone is saying it's full when it's empty.

You should try to wipe youre battery with some app, just google it, ive seen much of them.
I would suggest something like this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
Especially since it's free. Which beats any app with 'paid' in the internal name. But hey, if you have money to throw around, the other app does claim it knows what the real level is even without wiping it.

Okay. Here's one that says it works without root and is free. Ad supported, but how long after it's done are you going to keep the calibration app?

That is exactly the cause. On my stock battery, it got all puffy and I kept getting random reboots and extremely fast battery drains. It definately is the battery and you should get it replaced. Try out this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004KVTNYE/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00. Its really good

Thanks! That's kind of a relief, I thought it was a problem with the software. Hey would the battery you're suggesting need an extended cover to accommodate the size because I believe our native battery capacity is 1600 mAh.
Our native OEM battery came with 1650 mah. I recommend buying the same (just did in eBay for 8$) instead of some untrusted manufacturer sh$t.

[Q] (Q)HTC Desire S 2000mAh Battery?

Hi everyone. I'm a bit of a noob but anyway I wanted to buy the following battery from eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230803704348?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
I was wondering if anyone has a similar battery and if they noticed any improvements over the stock 1450mAh battery
Thanks
To be honest they could write 2500mAh and atill it can be worse than the stock one. For me it looks like a risky business.

Right. I've got a problem. The extended battery won't charge and I get a warning message saying the battery is using more power than the charger can provide, I've tried with 4 different chargers and it won't charge but the stock battery is fine. If it's on it just stops charging and when it's off, I just get an orange flashing light. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi, I found your post simply because I ran across the exact same battery and just as you was thinking of buying it.
I was wondering if you had any luck resolving your issues with charging the battery? And if not, did you also remove the yellow tape near the electrode, as they write in the ebay add? Because to me that sounds like the kind of thing that might screw up the charging otherwise...
Cheers.

I can't remember how much I paid but it's excellent. Check the Accessories section, I made a thread there
I bought a "Polarcell" battery on ebay and have a real good experience with it. It says 1600mAh. With Jelly Bean (MIUIzero) and the new battery my phone now always runs for a whole day sometimes 1.5 days. This really surprised me because on some early JB roms and with the old battery the phone was always dead in the evening.

Galaxy s3 dying with plenty of battery left

I've had this issue with my s3 for a while now and it's getting worse. I'll be using my phone and it can have 30, 50, 60% battery left and it'll just die and won't turn back on until I plug it into a charger. It'll then turn on and show the correct battery percentage and be fine for a while. But, this is getting worse. I was using Hyperdrive Rom but since reverted back to stock and am using stock KitKat. But, the problem is getting worse. Any ideas what could be wrong or what to do to fix it?

I can confirm what shapesblue said. I have had two batteries go bad on me, they show about 18% before just shutting off. I wonder if its a single bad cell in the battery or something.
Anyways, $7 on amazon can get you a new one. It looks OEM, but there's slight differences that make me think otherwise. They work for what I need though.
