Did receiving a new battery solve anyones issues? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hey All,
I just got off with Tmobile support and they are sending me a new battery as I've been hit with the constant overheating and freeze up issues as of late. I've been able to make it not as frequent with CM7/faux's kernel with DS battery driver but it just happened again yesterday but it was while charging.
Anyone with these types of issues actually had success with a new battery or is this simply the first step to getting a replacement phone?

With the 3500 battery, it doesn't heat up anymore, but I still get random power off.

I tried calling T-Mobile on Tuesday of this week.
I was informed that I was a mere THREE DAYS over my "90-day battery warranty". I was told that T-Mobile could not and would not do anything for me. Then they tried to pass me off to LG.
Anyone else have the same issue?

They sent me 4 batteries to try (1 for each phone) and it made no difference. Plus side is I have an extra battery, bout it.

I also have the 3500 battery. It definitly does not vet as hot as the stock and I do get reboots though. I think that the slim batteey is **** because before I got the 3500 I used two battery system and they both got hot. Now when I am at home I put the big o e on the desktop and use the slim one and the slim still overheats.

More evidence some problems because of bad batteries

Had a chat with T-Mobile about getting a replacement battery due to the one I have possibly causing freezing or reboots. After a bit if annoying troubleshooting crap they ordered a warranty replacement for the battery. Only problem? They're back ordered with no eta! Perhaps they're fixing them? Will post when I get it and results.

I wouldn't worry too much about the back order. They told me the same thing and the next day I got a text saying it was shipped, I got it yesterday. They said my battery life was bad, it's still the same but at lest I've got a spare now.

Hmmm excellent thought process

I can't seem to think that batteries are at fault. I think it is just the wonky stock kernel. Have you guys tried CM7 and its default kernel?

You sir are right. Mine just shipped today - 24 hours after ordering. Why they are telling people they are on backorder makes no sense. Will post results soon.
are they just simply sending you a new battery? I would love a free extra battery since mine is always causing mine to reboot and freeze and die after 2 hours of use :eyeroll:

Yes just the battery. Not sure what they'd charge if I don't send one back and keep both.

Shouldnt be a problem. I went ahead and ordered a new battery this morning for the hell of it. Dude told me I didnt have to send the old one back or anything.
I called up for a new battery because mine is going nuts. Sitting idle with everything shut off and lost 25% in 1 hour and half. I told t-mobile that and complained that I was a loyal customer. They're sending me a new battery and letting me keep this one.
Anyone know where I can get a external charger than can charge this battery that comes with the phone? i'd buy one considering i can use both
The chargers that come with the knock off ebay batteries would prolly work.
I bought mine on ebay, just search for g2x charger...you can find two batteries and a charger for around $12.00 and they work great for me.

I have one of those chargers with those 2 batteries.
I'm a bit worried about using those 2 batteries though.... afraid to ruin my phone or I don't really want to get 4 hours use of those batteries. But the charger should definitely work then regp? Wouldn't damage my battery would it?
I cant promise it wont ruin your battery but my logic says if the battery is a clone of the original they should work in the same charger.. Check the voltage output on the battery and the charger just to make sure. I used the knock off charger for my real vibrant battery as well as the fake batteries and never had a problem.
Okay, so if the knock off charger has the same voltage and stuff, I can use it? Sounds good I guess!
I use and charge with the external charger the two knockoffs and the OEM batteries and they all work fine...
when charging batteries on the phone the knockoffs seem to run cooler...with the lg battery the phone gets hot, freezes and reboots while charging...but when charging the phone with the knockoffs it has never rebooted or frozen yet...
Edit: just jinx myself! G2x froze just now while charging with knockoff battery also...

Really? I guess I can try it out on Monday when I get the battery, I think the facebook app was the one that was screwing up my battery because it's working better without it. Not sure
If you don't explicitly sign out of chat in Facebook it will keep your phone awake. Otherwise it shouldn't hurt your battery

Still waiting for my exchange battery to arrive. The more I read the forums I have hope that's what is the cause. People are getting freezes even with cm7 which is a separate kernel. It would explain why for some people swapping out the phone worked because they got a different battery too. Lets hope I get a better battery.

extended batteries

So I just got my new 3500 battery and I gotta say the phone doesn't look that bad the back fits like a glove I was a little worried because the one I got for my Blackberry curve did not and this was made for the optimus 2x the battery was a little tight but it works. So I charged it to 100% and unplugged it at 6am yesterday and I went all the way to 1am so that was 19 hours and it was at 2% and that was at light to heavy use at times I stream Sirius xm and Pandora and at times I did not use it at all while I was working. Today I put my live wallpaper on and see what happens. When I get a few cycles in I am going to start taking the extended bat out and using one of the stock battery's so I can put the thing in the cradle hooked up to the computer and charge the extended with the desktop charger.
The only thing is I noticed that is my phone had the first reboot since the update and only the 3rd one since I bought it and it was lagging a little. Could the battery have something to do with it? Could all these reboot issues be caused by ****ty batteries? Is that why people are reporting doing the update and still having the reboots? I don't think so but my phone really never had any issues and all of a sudden I put a new battery and it just seems weird. I also had a bit of a problem getting a GPS lock. Again I never had any gps problems at all. Anyone who knows what they are talking about want to weigh in?

[Q] Reboots when camera in use and when other applications are opened

I have an htc inspire and i rooted and used different roms for about 4 months about 2 weeks ago it started with a reboot when i opened the camera and took a photo with flash, now it reboots each time i open a game or use multimedia for a while,Im using MIUI rom based on ICS for now but ive used LeeDroid, CoreDroid and CM7, while using CM7 the problem appeared and ive tried changing kernel and roms but the problem only grows, what can i do, will a new battery fix this, should i just throw it away(meaning theres no fix), what caused the problem? please help and thanks in advance.
Another one of those issues that have popped up in many threads over and over but keeps being asked. If you overclock your phone then stop overclocking as this could be your problem. But most likely it is not.
Most likely it is your battery. It is not strong enough anymore to supply the correct voltage for battery intense apps and services. Seems the inspire battery just isn't a battery to last for years.
You have already tried numerous ROMs and the issue persists so we know it isn't the ROM. So why don't you plug your charger in and see if the phone reboots on its own with the charger connected. If it does then the phone itself may have issues. If it doesn't then most likely it is a battery issue.
If you are looking to buy a battery I recommend Anker batteries. You can buy 1 from amazon or ebay for under $10. Or you can get 2 with a universal charger for under $20. Been using these for a few months and they seem to be as good if not better than an oem battery.
Have you done a full wipe and gone back to a gingerbread based rom, maybe core Droid again?
I would do that first..I thought I needed a new battery as well, as I couldn't get the battery to last for more than half a day.. I've also replaced my charger as the stock mini USB seemed to be worn as well.

Battery

I wonder if anyone tried this batteries before:
http://www.amazon.com/Trexcell-Sams...O4G0/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1336756981&sr=8-9
My phone shuts down whenever I take a picture with flash, and I read that a lot of people have the same issue and that it might be the battery on the verizon website ... Therefore I want to head away from Samsung batteries ... If those are not good, please let me know what you have tried and knows that it works.
I have some bad reviews/experiences about using non-Samsung batteries.
from my understanding, VZW/Samsung will send you a new battery free of charge the next day if complain to the right person.

I use a Hyperion, an off brand Chinese from eBay, and the OEM. I don't notice a difference between the three and just cycle through them.

Between 2 phones I have 2 older hyperions, 2 new hyperions and 4 samsungs. I see very little difference between them with the samsungs being only slightly better but that can easily just be a placebo effect.
Could not get a replacement battery without getting a replacement phone with asurion.
Got the hyperion battery, works great and the phone no longer shuts down when using the camera.
Again thanks for the help!

Bad battery life. Even with new battery.

I recently ordered myself a used sgs2 skyrocket off eBay. It was in almost perfect physical condition except for the battery door cover. I noticed my battery life really sucked. So I ordered a new battery from eBay and now it seems just as bad. My mother ordered a brand new sgs2 skyrocket from eBay and her battery life is very good. I'm wondering if my phone has a problem? Thanks in advance!

What rom are you running? Also do you roam a lot? Do you have your screen brightness cranked? Do you have app notifications on? There are a lot of factors that effect battery life. Check your battery status in settings and see what your biggest drainers are and start knocking away at them.

Yeah I would probably look into clearing out everything from the phone and starting from either stock or a custom rom. If you just got the phone and throw in your SIM in there, there could be stuff left from the other user that are still on the phone or whatnot. Another thing is buying a battery from ebay can be 50/50 in getting a good one or not, unless its an official oem battery (samsung). Also oem chargers can make a difference in charging the phone as using one from a different brand can cause wakelocks on the phone which makes it so the phone doesnt go into deep sleep when idle.
So it could be the following:
ROM
Bad Battery (especially from ebay)
Bad USB Cord/Charger
May be other factors as well but I would try to narrow it down first.
Thanks a bunch. I figure I start with going back to stock!
