I have an htc inspire and i rooted and used different roms for about 4 months about 2 weeks ago it started with a reboot when i opened the camera and took a photo with flash, now it reboots each time i open a game or use multimedia for a while,Im using MIUI rom based on ICS for now but ive used LeeDroid, CoreDroid and CM7, while using CM7 the problem appeared and ive tried changing kernel and roms but the problem only grows, what can i do, will a new battery fix this, should i just throw it away(meaning theres no fix), what caused the problem? please help and thanks in advance.
Another one of those issues that have popped up in many threads over and over but keeps being asked. If you overclock your phone then stop overclocking as this could be your problem. But most likely it is not.
Most likely it is your battery. It is not strong enough anymore to supply the correct voltage for battery intense apps and services. Seems the inspire battery just isn't a battery to last for years.
You have already tried numerous ROMs and the issue persists so we know it isn't the ROM. So why don't you plug your charger in and see if the phone reboots on its own with the charger connected. If it does then the phone itself may have issues. If it doesn't then most likely it is a battery issue.
If you are looking to buy a battery I recommend Anker batteries. You can buy 1 from amazon or ebay for under $10. Or you can get 2 with a universal charger for under $20. Been using these for a few months and they seem to be as good if not better than an oem battery.
Have you done a full wipe and gone back to a gingerbread based rom, maybe core Droid again?
I would do that first..I thought I needed a new battery as well, as I couldn't get the battery to last for more than half a day.. I've also replaced my charger as the stock mini USB seemed to be worn as well.

Hey All,
I just got off with Tmobile support and they are sending me a new battery as I've been hit with the constant overheating and freeze up issues as of late. I've been able to make it not as frequent with CM7/faux's kernel with DS battery driver but it just happened again yesterday but it was while charging.
Anyone with these types of issues actually had success with a new battery or is this simply the first step to getting a replacement phone?
With the 3500 battery, it doesn't heat up anymore, but I still get random power off.

I tried calling T-Mobile on Tuesday of this week.
I was informed that I was a mere THREE DAYS over my "90-day battery warranty". I was told that T-Mobile could not and would not do anything for me. Then they tried to pass me off to LG.
Anyone else have the same issue?
They sent me 4 batteries to try (1 for each phone) and it made no difference. Plus side is I have an extra battery, bout it.
I also have the 3500 battery. It definitly does not vet as hot as the stock and I do get reboots though. I think that the slim batteey is **** because before I got the 3500 I used two battery system and they both got hot. Now when I am at home I put the big o e on the desktop and use the slim one and the slim still overheats.

what is wrong?
Uhm, it seems a battery issue. Did you try with another battery?

I had a problem with this once with a bad flash of a rom. Once I reflashed the rom it quit the problem and I didn't replace the battery..
On a side note though, check amazon for specials for the batteries for these phones. I got twin 1900mah batteries with charger for less than 30 bucks US. It's worth the investment and added battery life through the day.
It is ALWAYS recommended to do a superwipe before you flash a ROM.
Try superwipe, maybe it might solve your issue.
Cheers.
I have always had pretty good battery life with my phone up until a few days ago. All of a sudden, the phone claims to run out of battery life in about 3 hours. The battery percentages often don't make sense, it will shut down due to low battery, but I plug it in for 5 minutes and it claims to be back up to 60% battery. One time it claimed the battery was at 999% for about an hour while charging.
I haven't installed any new apps, and none of the ones that are currently running strike me as the culprit. Haven't really changed anything and haven't noticed that the phone is running hotter than normal.
At this point I think my battery might be bad, I ordered a replacement but I am open to suggestions, would really like to get this fixed, having to charge it every few hours is a pain.

Question 1: Are you rooted?
Question 2: If so what ROM are you using?
If you read this you are looking for where I sent it from. That makes you a stalker

Yes I am rooted running EaglesBlood AOSP release 2. It was running fine for weeks until this started just recently though.
Did you by any chance plug in an HDMI cable to your phone?
Check under the little plastic cover that covers the HDMI port for debris/a short.
I had HORRIBLE battery life for a few days until I discovered a little metallic piece of something (like 2mm across) had worked its way under the cover (from my pocket, I assume) and was bouncing around and randomly shorting the pins.
I haven't used the HMDI port but I have opened the cover and tried to clean it, will let you guys know if that helped thanks
Are you useing the DS battery driver in your kernel? That give odd reading's

not sure, I am just using whatever came with the ROM.
Blowing the dust out of the HMDI port didn't work, I still only got 5 hours of battery life yesterday. At this point I'll wait for my replacement battery to come in and see if that helps.
Edit: I think I figured this out, something was wrong with exchange and it kept trying to sync which was draining my battery. thanks for your help guys.
My replacement battery from anker came today, it runs much cooler than the stock one now and the battery life is fantastic. I went overboard with the battery life changing all my settings and downloading juice defender as well, now i'm getting better battery life than i was before this happened.
Hey,
I have had an HTC sensation for about a year, just recently it has started to not fully charge even when plugged in over night. It happens on both my phone and my wife's, I have tried flashing different roms and wiping battery stats with no success. I will plug the phone in most nights about 11 P.M. and get up about 6 A.M and it only has about 82% charge. I have tried several different charges as well.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Out of curiosity, have you tried switching to another battery to see if it's the battery or the device it's self? If you put a new battery in and the problem still persists then it's likely a problem with the device. But I would check to make sure it's not the batteries going bad. Strange both devices are doing same thing!

It does indeed sound like the battery, maybe you can try your wife's battery in your phone?
Because both devices are doing same thing I would NOT use wife's battery to test. I'd get a new one for the two of you. Hopefully it will solve the issue. Are you both still using stock battery? You might want to give anker a try. It's a extended battery and under 20 dollars! I'm really hoping this will solve the issue. Let us know keep us posted. Best wishes!

Yes we are both still using stock batteries. Thanks! After your initial post I found 2 Ankers on amazon for $30 so I am going to try that, I will post my results when I receive them a few days from now. What was so strange was that it went from charging to full in 2 to 3 hours to 82% in 7 hours.
It was the battery, a cell had gone bad. I purchased the Anker batteries (1900) and it charges in about an hour and a half and lasts 16 hours on full use, plus I sit in an office where it searches for 4g all day if I allow it. Over all it was a vast improvement and all I had was a bad battery.
Thanks for your help
So glad you got it fixed!

Hello people, In a last few days I went through an uncertain and wierd issue with my battery.
Now, allow me to explain the situation.
It happened around this new year, suppose if I charge my battery to 100% and then use my device even for 10 mins (note: all this has been performed without installing any app, with fresh ROM installations by full wipe and using the stock kernel in every case) when my battery discharged to 91%, the point is even if I leave my phone on standby, the battery would last at a maximum of 2-3 Hours.
Now, If during this procedure I power off and re insert the battery, the battery level would suddenly drop to any random percentage, sometimes even 1 or 2%, directly from 80%.
Quiet wierd isn't it? Anyone who has gone through the same situation could please help? Or any ideas that you people have?
This is really Important cause my phone is nothing with a charger at the moment, I can't carry it anywhere.
On a side note, I have tried every other JB, ICS and GB ROMs for testing this issue, even the stock ones but unfortunately the same results
Any help is much much appreciated. Thank you
I think issue is with the battery, you should buy a new one and do the procedure of insert and reinsert, it's happened with me too but i was on HTC Wildfire S.
Try to change the battery or any of your friend have nexus s, you can take him from just for checking..
