[Resolved] [Q] Nandroid restore - General Questions and Answers

Quick question here. If I do a restore, will I lose newly taken pictures? It will touch the SD card... but only a few folders? Or does it leave the SD card alone?

SD card untouched. Some things (app sys info stuff) may be freshly written on first boot, but nothing deleted that's user content or new since restore like pictures. App info for apps not present in backup will even remain on SD card after restore.

No, Nandroid backs up only what is in the phone's internal storage.
The photos will be fine.

Restore from SDcard not working?

Hello. My last Desire got destroyed. And now I have a new Desire. I inserted my sd memory card into the new phone, but I don't get the question if I want to restore backup.
Have I lost everything or can I extract contacts, messages etc from the sdcard manually?

Titanium Backup??

So I have Titanium Backup Pro installed. I backed up all user apps and data. I have been experiencing problems with the battery on the Infuse, so I decided to restore to factory settings via the Privacy tab in Settings. Now my TB is gone! WTH? I thought TB backs up to your SD card? My Sone Ericcson X10 does it that way? The infuse backed up to the internal memrory, now all my backup is gone! Anyone else have this issue? And how can I force TB to backup to SD card, not internal memory?
That's all working as intended. The Factory Reset wipes the internal SD Card.

You would have to backup then physically move the backup to the external sd
infuse 4g "a lot a screen real estate"
Or configure TiBu to backup to the external to SD card. Or dropbox.

In the TB preferences you can switch the destination to your physical SD card.

I just recently rooted my Inspire 4g and have been trying out some different roms. My question is what do I need to keep on my SD card? There is a lot of stuff on it and it is almost full.

first of all do not keep music files and videos they are useless if you need free space. In addition to this make sure that you backup all of your apps and do a nandroid backup if something goes wrong.Keep those files in your hard disk and place them back to your sd card when you re done flashing
I believe that you can just save everything you need to your computer, format the SD, then put your important stuff back in. Then make a recovery backup. All the application files that are stored in the SD card should be remade afterwards.

Changing SD cards, how to transfer ext data?

I am on Slip CM9 using sd2ext+ on a 2gb memory card with a 512mb ext partition.
I just got an 8gb kingston card, gonna make a 1gb ext partition on it. Need to know how I can transfer all Apps and data from one card to the other? I DONT HAVE A CARD READER!!! And the backups made via recovery is for some reason not backing up ext, can't I somehow backup whole ROM and ext stuff, then insert 8gb card make the new partition and restore everything? Another option is titanium backup obviously.
Anyway, just give me different options? How to transfer Apps and data from ext, keeping in mind that I dont have a card reader.
Easyest way is Titanium, Flash new rom, then transfer titanium's backup folder and you'll be fine. Another way is some kind of driver for windows which allow's you to read and write ext file systems and just copy paste, but with this I'm pretty sure that most of the app's won't work.

Oh thanks, On Sony Ericsson x10 mp, when I made nandroid backup via cwm, it automatically backed up ext folder as well, I was hoping that might be possible here as well with some recovery. Anyhow, titanium it is then, it just takes a hell lot of time backing up and then restoring.
....
instead of restoring the whole backup u can also restore just apps(u have tis option in recovery).....dat'll do the same...but migt save u a couple of minutes....

[Q] backing up with titanium backup

I changed the backup location to a newly created folder in my external sd card after I backed up apps and data and it asked if I wanted to move my previous back ups and I said yes. It did nothing but still shows my back up location in my sd card. I deleted all my backup files and retried it. I retried backing up and it still is backing up in my titanium backup folder on my internal memory instead of the backup location I specified in the preferences. Do I have to manually move the files every time I backup?
If its backup to internal memory than leave it there.. It might cant found them if you move them. Im just saying but not sure....

Okay, but what happens if I have a problem and have to wipe the internal memory? Obviously I would have to have it on the external sd, right?
TB pro set backup to ext sd card in TB settings is the norm .
You do not make a folder let TB do that .

I don't understand the first sentence. Do you have to have the PRO version in order for it to backup to the SD card? I tried a couple of times to backup to an SD location that I created, and it still wouldn't backup there. It just kept backing up to the main Titanium Backup folder on the internal memory.

No idea bought Pro version on day one .
all my TB backups are on Ext SD card on Note and SGS3 .
Do you have the genuine TB app From Titanium Track .
