Found this by accident, dont know if its been mentioned here already.

Nice game. Reminds me of mashed on the xbox. The article said there is no word if it will be xperia play optimized though which is a bummer. I hope they get this thing optimized.

True, just because I found it on an Xperia PLAY game site does not mean it will be optimized, although I am hoping ti will be. Maybe I will contact the developer and ask them if they are or can implement it.

Has anyone tried it? I must confess I dare not do it after reading all of the comments from Xperia Play users.

It's out but not play optimized yet hopefully in future but is a good game. At the end of day the touchscreen is a hardware control on our phones so why limit yourself to the smallish selection with controls.

The other bad thing that's you need more than 100 megs on the internal memory and no way to push on the sd card.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will wait until it is Xperia Play optimized.

I have this game and works realy good but not optimised for touchpad or buttons and to @kiche the game has 116 mb and after instaled you can move it to sd

My view in Shadowgun

I've never really properly got into an optimized game for our phone and found the touchpads terrible. However I've started to pay shadowgun and it is unreal. I'm hooked on it. Feels like a proper game, as if I'm sitting in front of my xbox and the controls are close to perfect. Really gives me hope for the touchpads and proves that they don't have to be hopeless.
By far the best purchase I've made for my play and there's now an expansion pack for it that I noticed but I haven't played it yet, haven't completed the first story.
Definitely worth buying and restoring your faith in the almighty Play!

I agree. It feels like a your playing a console game on the Xperia Play. I'm loving it
Dead Space and Bad Company 2 also have excellent controls. They're also free
Where can I get bad company 2 from? I can't find it on the market
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
It's definitely nice, but my faith in the Xperia PLAY never really staggered to begin with.
If you'd played Dead Space, you would've known a loooong time ago that the Xperia PLAY touch-pads are a more-than-competent means of control input (and also got a sneak peek at the standards in which Shadowgun worked up to). Even outside that, there's so many other devs that have used the touch-pads perfectly that it pretty much is just Gameloft being typical Gameloft... Lantansia, Halfbrick, TwoHeads, NaturalMotion, Art in Games, Glu Mobile, Angry Mob Games and so many more have already established that the touch-pads can work extremely well with high quality titles.
shadowgun is good, so is fifa 12.

Dead Space is not working with my hardware controls.
Thanks for the heads up though, might check out this game because of the sale.
I purchased Shadowgun yesterday but the came constantly crashes [kicks me out to the home menu after the video sequence], anyone else have this problem?
I recently wrote an article on just this very subject for XperiaGamer, you can find it here if you're interested:

So, it has swipe analogs ?
I dont realy play games that dont have swipe analogs and this recent sale interests me.

Gunman Clive ( Xperia Play optimized )

One thing with me is that I love 2D platformers and this is one game I love. It's awesome proper Super Mario style gameplay.
I think this same developer has made Helium Boy which was a good game as well.
I'm starting to like the developer
We need more games like this !

Yeah mine does when on the highest setting. Just play it medium settings it still looks as good. I am on stock as well.
The beauty of this game is that it's a platformer and it works perfectly on the Xperia Play. Feel sorry for those people who play it on a touchscreen. It's rock hard !
it is now 2$..

Anybody noticed that current version on PlayStore 1.07 "is not compatible with your device"?
And for some reason there's another version, 2.0 wich IS compatible..but why do we have to re-pay for the game?...
USUAL VERSION, IT USED TO WORK: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=beril.mootor.gmc&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImJlcmlsLm1vb3Rvci5nbWMiXQ..
NEW VERSION COMPATIBLE 2.0 WE HAVE TO RE-PAY: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwyLDEsImJlcmlsLm1vb3Rvci5nbWNzb21jIl0.
EDIT: got an answer from the developer:
Hi Dany
I'm terribly sorry about this. Because of a contract clause for the
Xperia exclusive version, I'm not allowed to sell the regular vesion
to xperia users anymore, and unfourtunately there is no way to do this
in Google Play while still letting previous customers redownload the
game. I'll try to discuss it with sony to see if there is a way to
solve this.
In the meantime you can download it directly here:
http:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.apk
(you'll need to change the settins to allow for apps from outside
Google Play though)
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience. I didn't want to screw over
my customers but as a small developer I have try every possibility to
drive sales.

Mass Effect - Infiltrator out now. Somebody know about Play controls support?[UPDATE]

So yeah guys, it's available on Google Play, and I thinking about buying, but I don't know if this support our hardware touchjoys....Anyone want to try and reply back?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ea.games.meinfiltrator_row
Thanks in advance .
[UPDATE]: Unfortunelly, for now, version 1.0.30 from Google Play does NOT have Xperia Play gamepad support. Maybe we need wait for EA Flexion Store version, still no correct info about it. But without it - I tested already - and I can say it's very good stuff - good optimalisation (it's EA, not Gameloft ), nice controls and good graphics. Storyline should be good too (it's Mass Effect, yep? ), but can't tell after 10minutes of gameplay. Bye guys! ^^
Nice.. it looks similar to Dead Space. Hope it has gamepad support!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vICzsa6XvE
just sore this FU*Cking hope it has dead space controls. Downloading it now but my net is sh*t.
On Google Play it show that R800i/Play has support for this game, hope full (with gamepad), not only hardware (1GHz + Adreno 205).
i just downloaded the game, and it doesn't appear in the XPLAY launcher. hopefully its still fun with touch controls
Wtf not available in my country :banghead:

I'd imagine it'd be like all other EA Games, where the Xperia Play Optimized version is only sold on the EA Flexion store.
Tested - Google Play version does NOT have working Xperia Play gamepad. I will update first post and name of thread. Sorry guys. Maybe we should really wait for EA Flexion Store version, like TLRtheory said.
I got it also no play controls in USA either I got refund. Ill wait for play optimized

Hmm I'd also like to see a good sixaxis controller map, its going to take forever to map this one hah
I've just watched the trailer and the interview with one of the developers on YouTube.
This game looks epic! The deadspace engine has come a long way and if they port the deadspace xperia play controls over to this game we are surely looking at a five star futuristic deus ex (voice actor from first deus ex game is in this) come mass effect single player badass of a game.
I cant wait for it to be "xperia play optimised".
This is type of calibre of gaming that the Xperia Play owner should be experiancing daily!

Has anyone checked to see if the GameKeyboard App that allows you to pair the touch screen with the XP's gamepad (dpad, X, O, square, triangle keys) will work with MEI?
Looking your way TLRtheory as you reviewed this multiple times.
Have you tried it out yet?

I agree with DiKej in his first post - the game runs RIDDICULOUSLY smooth (high for every graphics setting and absolutely no lags at all!) and it's great. Gameloft guys should learn from these guys how to optimize the game. Another good game SCREAMING for Xperia PLAY touchpad support.
In my case 300+MB apk was installing for about 6 minutes (first attempt caused reboot).
Anyone has an e-mail for the developers? Maybe spamming their mailbox with optimization requests will be good strategy, huh?

Greetings Crescent Moon games. I already played through Aralon on my old iPod Touch more than a year ago, and that was the best iOS game I had ever played. Now I own an Xperia Play and I found out Aralon was released for Android on Amazon. Me, and the whole Xperia Play community, think that optimizing this game for our gamepad (including analog touchpads) would be the absolute best thing ever happened to our phones. That would be a true Elder Scrolls-like experience. I tried using apps like Joystick Center 6 and Game Keyboard with Aralon, but they don't work.
Thanks a lot for your attention.

It seems like the only real issue is they don't have phones to test it out. Can we do something about that? Maybe a donation, or emailing sony, or even offer ourselves to test every beta optimized version. I'd do that.
What do you guys think? The game doesn't seem to work with joystick center (the app shuts down when the game runs), and with gamekeyboard (i found out that the circle button actually works but that's it. Strange...)

Hmm... not trying to advertise my site here, but XperiaPlayGamer has a section especially devoted to developers who want to Xperia Play Optimize a game, but don't have a device to test on. It doesn't cover touch-pads but it could get it to a playable state on an essential basis. We could try e-mailing them that?
We *need* to email that to them. I'll take care of it. I also wanted to focus on the gamekeyboard fact about circle button working... i think it has to do with the relationship between the game and apps like that.
edit: he answered "wow thanks!!!" for his iphone. He seems really enthusiastic about this. If they manage to fully optimize this title, the Xperia Play will be on a whole new level, guys.

WazHack , new 2d rogue like!

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wazhack.WazHack
Okay so the game is not free but you can try it for the first 300meters (the objetive is to go DOWN.
It is NOT Xperia play optimized , but since it runs on Unity , the dpad works for movement. Nothing else works. We might get this optimized if we push hard enough , i guess.
And last , the game looks very promising but unfortunately , it runs awful. At least on my phone im getting constant "ram lags" , FPS is stable at 25-40 but the constant pauses make it very annoying.
The game doesnt need any quick reactions (since enemies only move when you move) but it is definitely annoying , im going to wait for a patch , if it ever comes.
You can try the game on your PC here http://www.wazhack.com/play
Never had played a roguelike game before. Interesting. :good:

I am sorry to derail this thread a bit, but I am quite in a shock. Since I've bought my latest Xperia Play I am observing a worrying trend, many new games seem to be incompatible with my device. At least that's what Google Play Store says.
WazHack, Mutant Roadkill by Glu, and the latest Glu game Gears & Guts. I have a new R800i, unrooted. What's going on? Are these games really THAT advanced that my Xperia Play cannot handle them? Or is this a regional thing (some games working only for the US market)? Would appreciate any advice, thanks.
There are many versions of the xperia play, the developers need to enable them individually.
My R800i however can download it from the store just fine, unless they took it out.
Edit :yup they took it out, just side load the app, even stronger hardware sometimes gets forgotten among aaaall the android devices

I can at least explain why I took Xperia support off WazHack. Shortly after release I got an angry 1-star rating from an Xperia user saying how terrible it was on their device. As an Indie developer (like most app developers), I don't have a huge suite of test devices. So my assumption was that it was somehow not compatible with the Xperia Play. By default, Google Play makes an app compatible with any device that meets the version requirement (and screen, and a few others). Devices that would otherwise be compatible can then be specifically excluded. I did that as soon as I saw the review.
After a few days, I managed to talk to a player on the WazHack IRC channel who had an Xperia, and I sent him the APK directly. He said it wasn't perfect but well and truly playable. (by this time I had also added many performance improvements too).
Two things he did point out though, and these may well be the specific answer to your question:
Xperia players are more likely to be demanding of games - its a key purpose for there device
The controller-based interaction gives a different feel than than touch-to-move: the player can feel a lag or jerk much more.directly
So I hope that helps expain somewhat.
Just remember that app developers probably don't have your device, and the more "special" it is, the harder it is to support, but that you can help by talking with the devs.
Anyway, it's a commercial game, which as I understand is verboten here, so I'll slink back into the shadows from whence I came.
It's true, xp owners are very demanding.

I don't know why, but at least on my device, mutant roadkill runs flawlessly. Like zero lag, smooth frame rate.
Why not officially support it?
