Why no CWM on P350? - General Questions and Answers

Well, topic says it all... Is it difficult? Or no developers for this custom recovery? Why is it that we, P350 owners, have only Amon-Ra?
Sent from my Swift Me using Tapatalk

My guess is Probaly because there's not a lot of users of that phone model, low activity device

Hmm... As true as it may be, this answer doesn't convince me... So, what knowledge is needed for bringing CWM to this device?
Sent from my Swift Me using Tapatalk

Yes cwm can be installed on the p350, perhaps a dev can help you
I've seen some low activity devices on here and a dev sometimes help them install cwm and root the phone

Just CWM... The rest is already done... developer.clockworkmod.com doesn't allow me to sign up nor in...
Sent from my Swift Me using Tapatalk

Burn cwm img on your sd, I'm sure you can use 3.2.0.1 just read the tutorials and it might work

I'll read first and then brick my phone...

Two recoveries?

After downloading the newest ROM manager from the market, it now looks like I have two recoveries installed. If I boot into recovery from ROM Manager, I get the new blue one (with int SD support). But if I boot from the power menu, I get the old one. Something tells me I screwed something up, and I'm not touching anything until somebody tells me how this is even possible. WTF did I do?

No problem there. ROM manager is only updated false flash rom. Old one is the nvflashed real one.

Ah. So is it safe to flash from either one? Having access to the internal SD would be a lot more convenient.
Also, is there a thread somewhere pertaining to this situation?

There is an even better scenario...download the utility by tgagunmann in the development section, and flash the latest cwm, which allows both internal and external from boot recovery.

Flashing clockwork without a pc

I just flashed to ics and I'm on the road for the rest it the weekend. Is there anyway to flash clockwork recovery back. My boot loader is already unlocked and I have all the files.
Please help

No. You need a computer.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
would it allow me to flash back to 2.3.3 if I did some sort of hard reset
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Nope.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
damn! That's what my curiosity gets me. May have to borrow so.wines computer and download the sdk files
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Too bad you weren't rooted because rom manager would have been the ticket
BEST DAMN PHONE BECAUSE WE HAVE THE BEST DAMN DEVELOPERS!
You may be able to actually. Brainmaster made a flashable cwm it doesn't work for me sadly. It may work for you though. Give it a shot
I'd post a link but I'm on tapatalk. Search the nexus development forum.

Switch recovery

Is it true that CWM is not good for flashing roms? Im using CWM and was wondering how to switch?
Sent from my ST25a using xda app-developers app
It works perfectly fine. There are simply alternatives, if one was made for your device.
AFAIK, CWM's only problem is interface. TWRP is full touch but is not widely supported like CWM
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium
Not widely supported means not many people uses it right ?
Sent from my ST25a using xda app-developers app
It means that some of the lesser known ROMs may not work on it.
I've always used CWM and never had a problem at all with it

That's true too, although what I meant is that TWRP is not available for as many devices as CWM is (official and unofficial)

I see thanks! But if I want to change from CWM to twrp, how do I do it?

Google "TWRP <device name>" and see if it is available. If it is, just follow the directions on the thread.
Flashing recoveries varies by device. The less supported overall it is, the harder it is to get a recovery on it.
Example: my Motorola Cliq, Droid, and LG Ally had official CWM, so I could just download the official app (rom manager) and tap flash recovery. My Flipside did not have official support, so I had to download a 3rd party app meant for the Flipout (which happen to have similar hardware so some stuff was interchangeable) and tap flash recovery. For my LG mytouch I had to use ADB, and later someone in the thread found a way to flash via terminal emulator commands (I ultimately ended up bricking my Mytouch, though... whatevs)
@kidcarter93 lol, OK (sorry I was too lazy to quote)
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium
I've actually got the twrp recovery already, coz when i root my device i had 2options using twrp or cwm kinda choose cwm xD

[Q] ROM Manager

So I've been trying to find why ROM manager should not be used with this device and I just see that I shouldn't. I came from a MyTouch 4G where that or 4EXT were standard.
What symptoms does ROM manager cause?
I've noticed that any ROM I try to flash that doesn't use aroma installer fails at checking the update package. Is this one and how do I avoid it?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium HD app
Rom manager does not support our device so any recovery you flash is going to result in a bricked phone. It's just that simple. Even after installing the correct custom recovery, stay away from it because you won't find any compatible roms either. Not to mention that in order to flash a rom with rom mangler you first have to flash a recovery so it knows which roms to look for.

I have ROM manager on my phone already. Hasn't seemed to brick it yet. I just can't flash ROMs through it unless they are packaged with aroma. But wiping works fine.

How are you using it at all? Doesn't it prompt you to install a recovery?

He will learn.....soon to be a statistic, wanting to know how to unbrick his phone.
I'm more than prepared to fix a brick.
It flashes through the market app fine using the i9000(?) option. I can then reboot into recovery fine and flash/wipe/mount just fine. Though the model mismatch might also be causing the issue where I can't flash anything not packaged with aroma.

Your lucky flashing that recovery should have soft bricked your phone. This is not the i9000. That's the galaxy s international version of the phone. Then there's the t959 vibrant. And the t959w for wind Mobile. Which are all slightly different. Like i said really lucky. Sooner or later it's likely to burn you.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I know this isn't the I9000. Perhaps I should consider dusting off my coding knowledge and make a compatible recovery.
This phone is so much different than my old HTC glacier... -_-

We have cwm recoveries for the phone they just don't flash thru Rom Manager.

Given that CyanogenMod is dumping ROM Manager, it seems like energy could be better put elsewhere.

Boot manager

Is there a blue folder available for the s3? I'm using the Galaxy mod ROM now and really like it but I'd like to keep checking out new rooms. Is there a convenient way to boot up another rom without having to wipe out what I'm running?

It gets me all the time too! But as of now there is not, there are some in the works from what I hear. So right now the easiest way is to make a backup and flash then just restore when you're ready to go back

Yes unfortunately no Boot Manager yet. Init2winit apps is unable to support the app anymore. The good news is that they are currently trying to find a reputable dev to take it over. Hopefully someone will.

I was really excited when it came out for the droid x. I bought it and really never used it, it just didn't work right. Cool idea but never work for me. I am sure the dx having a locked bootloader really held it back.

Thanks for the feedback. i used safe strap 3 for my motorola razr it allowed you to create a seperate boot partition, boot into recovery and choose the active-one . Is there something similar?
