Either use the old one (20120101) or press fn+F3 when in windows. Apparently it works

I would love to see Android 4.0 running on my netbook (I have 2.1 IIRC and it is completely useless), but I don't know how to convert .iso files into the .img format. Could someone help me?

Thanks a lot, it worked!
The ROM has some Bloatware, but it works perfectly. I wish it would be compatible with Adobe Flash, but I'm happy with this ROM anyway.

1. get temporary root
2. dump update.img from backup partition with rkdump for android
* How to make update.img
1. unpack stock update.img for your tablet with AFPTool.exe(Windows) or rkunpack(Unices) (DO NOT USE FILES FOR OTHER TABLETS!)
2. replace boot.img and system.img with files from CM7
3. (if necessary) unpack system.img with fsck.cramfs(RK2818) or loopback mount system.img(RK2918), tweak accelerometer properties in build.prop, add gapps, remove/replace TSCalibration.apk, then repack system.img with mkfs.cramfs
4. repack update.img with AFPTool.exe(Windows) or rkafpack(Unices)
* How to flash update.img
1. use RKAndroidBatchUpgrade.exe(RK2818) or RKBatchTool.exe(RK2918)
(TBD)
* RK2818 issues
some apps get FC
no camera preview
no UI to change USB mode
no USB mass storage mode (mount from PC) under some condition
* RK2818 FAQ
- how to make update.img
http://wiki.archosfans.com/index.php?title=Dump_your_Home_Tablet_rom_and_create_a_custom_rom
- lags on initial boot
please wait several seconds after calibration screen popped
- install failed on some apps (e.g. Angry Birds)
remove SD card before install
- I want to change USB mode host<->device
host mode:
Code:
echo 1 > /sys/bus/platform/drivers/dwc_otg/force_usb_mode
device mode:
Code:
echo 0 > /sys/bus/platform/drivers/dwc_otg/force_usb_mode
or, try this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19414868&postcount=543
- lags on 3D apps
yes, there is no 3D hardware on RK2818
* RK2918 FAQ
- boot.img in SDK2.0 based ROM
in (some of) SDK2.0 based ROMs, new format is used for boot.img(and recovery.img). it's almost same as standard android boot.img format. it has both kernel and ramdisk.
in general, unpackbootimg/mkbootimg can be used to unpack/repack for this format. but it doesn't work with boot.img for RK2918 tablets. Rockchip uses non-standard way to generate hash value which is stored in header of boot.img. if you flashed repacked boot.img, your tablet will go into recovery mode. it means we can't make customized boot.img(ramdisk).
but there is workaround. we can convert SDK2.0 boot.img into pre-SDK2.0 format.
Code:
$ unpackbootimg -i boot.img
$ rkcrc -k boot.img-zImage kernel.img
$ rkcrc -k boot.img-ramdisk.gz ramdisk.img
then flash kernel.img into kernel partition, and ramdisk.img into boot partition.
- accelerometer tweaks
for Yuandao N50DT
Code:
accelerometer.flip_xy=1
accelerometer.invert_x=1
accelerometer.invert_z=1
* common FAQ
- no gapps
download gapps for CM7 and add files in zip into system.img
- how to use internal NAND flash as SD card?
Settings -> CyanogenMod settings -> Application -> Use internal storage -> On -> reboot
if enabled, internal NAND flash is mounted on /mnt/sdcard and SD card is mounted on /mnt/nand.
- I like portrait / my favorite portrait apps are upside down / accelerometer axes are wrong on some apps
make /data/local.prop with following 3 lines, then reboot.
Code:
accelerometer.hwrotation=270
input.hwrotation=270
ro.sf.hwrotation=270
- I want to do calibration again
delete following files if exist, reboot, run calibration app, then reboot again
Code:
/data/misc/pointercal
/data/misc/idc/*
Fun,
Any chance of a Telechip port?
Cheers
Craig CMP738a boots up and results are identical to your findings.
initial bootup.
the calibration utility hung for a few seconds and asked if it should be killed. waiting allowed the procedure to complete.
started the music app. started playing a song. no audio came from the speakers but audio counter counted up. Headphones did not have sound either.
Tried connecting to wireless, says obtaining IP address... doesnt seem to want to connect to WPA2 network of mine. but it did connect fine to my WEP network.
Trying to view the gallery program for photos is very laggy.
A few videos would play in the video program but they were all like slideshows. A few would not play at all. no audio from the videos obviously.
Phone app and Camera (crashes) app are useless on this device I have.
USB Keyboard works in the usb host port.
FAT32 Flash drive doesnt seem to mount automatic.
SDCARD doesnt seem to be recognized. (nothing in /dev?)
Very cool so far tho.
Edit: since I am using the stock kernel for this device I would think I could get the hardware working... audio... video??? or maybe I need the rockchip support libraries...
fun_ is working on audio support, but video support seems to be hard to add, any help is welcome
Hi,
I have already adapted CM7 to RK2808 on Rocktab resistive screen.
Sound works and video MP4.
If these elements can help you:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/14838-experimentale-cyanogen-cm7-080211/
I noticed a lot of files missing .so in the lib in your system.img.
For the sensors you can try to take those CM7 for HTC G1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=448
And rename for RK2818.
This had worked on CM6 on APAD after disabling the rotation parameters in Menu Cyanogen.
@lefeudedieu: Hi and thanks for your reply, I will try it

thank you for your report! I added CMP738A to "tested" list.
in general, it should work on most RK2818 tablets. I tested ~20 eclair/froyo firmware(boot/system.img) for other tablets on my mivvy A2, and they worked well. it should be same for my CM7.

I didn't test USB drive yet. I have only multi-card-reader, it doesn't work well on android. I'll try it when I get simple USB flash memory stick or something.

please use your own bootloader/kernel because there is no source.
audio will work, but I didn't do anything yet.
to support hw video, libstagefrighthw.so for RK28 is needed. if you find it, please tell me.

i love having more internal memory ill flash this when i get a chance and let you know what i think!
good job!
Not bad so far, looking forward to more improvements
This is the unit I am working on, it does not fall within the serial number range listed for Doc Hoppy's ROM and since this and the others I found are based on his I wasn't sure it would work. But its working fine so far.
Nextbook 7Premium, ID: S7JNEXT7P, Model: NEXT 7P, Serial #: Y121106... So far its running with no problems.
I was able to Root the device using SuperOneClic Version 2.3.1 (earlier versions did not work) and it worked the very first time I ran it.
Next I copied this ROM ( [ROM] Nextbook 7P [dw] Rom v0.1 ICSBootAnim Debloated & Rooted 1/14/12 ) onto my internal SD Card and named it “ update “ with nothing after it, it will be read as a .img file so there is no need to place .img after the name “ update “. I restarted the device and it read the image without any problems and I was able to update to / install this ROM. Afterwards I did a factory reset which is always a good idea after installing a new update or ROM.

My question is how do i backup the current rom in case i blow it up?
None of the updates on the nextbook site has our serial number range.
I also sent nextbook support an email about not having a lock pattern capability and the responded quickly and said my O/S version is newer and didn't have it. Really?
Thanks for any help in advance.

Titanium will do most of that for you. It will save wifi, apps and all that so when you load a new rom it will be close to the same in a matter of minutes!

nextbook 7
I have a question. are any of these roms going to work on a tablet with 0911 for serial? People are saying the roms work with 1011 and 1211, but what about something as old as mine? Also, has anyone had any luck getting a bluetooth dongle to work with their nextbooks? That is the only thing that really bugs me, no way to connect to any device except the computer.
search the threads i want to say there was someone out there with a 0911 that flashed a custom rom and everything worked but im not sure. the ones as old as 0511 have been known to have issues such as loss of soft buttons and wifi force closes. as for blue tooth you will probably never be able to connect not matter the rom, even with a dongle these tablets dont seem to have the hardware to enable usb functions other then usb sync and such. cant remember for sure but i dont think you can even charge these through the usb, someone correct me if im wrong on that.
************just checked doc hoppy's thread - here you go!
For those with a yf0911 SN#
Try this Rom. it is a test version of hoppyrom for that serial number. If it boots and works ok, I will make a fully rooted version and post.

[Q] Galaxy Tab 7.7 with Paranoid Android 2.55

I just wanted to say that I was really impressed by trying the Paranoid Android 2.55 ROM pa_p6800-2.55-17NOV2012-053308a, with Gapps package gapps-jb-20121011-signed.
IT IS A TOTAL AWESOME UPGRADE from official Stock Rom Ice Scream Sandwhich second phase. That's why I decided to make it easier for all the other owners of this tablet to just upgrade their tablet with this ROM pacakge.
So here is what I did with TWRP recovery:
1. Wipe Cache
2. Wipe Dalvik Cache
3. Wipe (Factory Reset)
4. Then I made a FULL BACKUP.
5. Then I decided to upload that backup on Torrents so everyone else may upgrade their tablet with a simple TWRP recovery.
Since I am still not permitted to write on the Development forum I would really like to know the following:
1. Should this Backup Recovery for my P6800 work on the same model of the Tablet of other people without problems? In other words, does this recovery work only for MY device or it should work on similar devices?
2. I am not sure who is the author who deserves true credit for this ROM, but I have been seeing the name Daniel quite a bit. AndroguideFr is saying it's not his work. Please provide me the list of people who should take the credit for this before I upload the torrent with the instructions.
Finally tell me if it's a good idea, what you think about it, do you have any advice for me? Do you think this should work?
Instructions & Torrent
The torrent link: Since I still can't post links you can just search for "Super Galaxy Tab 7.lly Bean Upgrade" on the pirate bay website.
The following is the instructions I provided with the torrent. I would be glad if you tell me what you think about it:
This torrent is ONLY for those who own the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 with Wifi & 3G (GT-P6800). Be warned that the instructions provided here will not work on any other device or model.
Noob Definitions:
ROM means FIRMWARE or DEVICE SOFTWARE
BRICK means Phone/Tablet Getting Stuck without being able to boot.
So are you happy with your Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 tablet Stock ROM (firmware)? In other words, are you happy with the original software the device came by? If you are not, there is good news here. I have tried my best to make it as easy as possible to upgrade your Tablet with the best ROM I have come across for this tablet, which is Paranoid Android version 2.55 with Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2.
Why I am recommending this ROM and why I am doing this? Simple, I have tried all previous versions of Paranoid Android ROM for this device and they were all great but with minor to major bugs. This is the only ROM that I have found to be:
1. Super Fast. It consumes only an average of 120 megabytes of your internal tablet memory and all Samsung bloatware is removed by default.
2. Stable. I haven't come across any problems with it up till now and the smoothness of the graphics and device responsivity is really amazing.
3. Battery Saver. All Paranoid Android Jelly Bean ROMs I have tried save a great deal of battery power. You will notice at least double battery standby time switching from the stock IceCream Sandwich.
4. Of course WiFi & GPS are now tested and working.
I have not tested this ROM for more than a few days, however considering all the progress I have been seeing I expect only very few bugs that I would wholeheartedly sacrifice for this great experience on my tablet. The instructions include a full backup of your existing Data/ROM so just in case you don't like your new upgrade you should be easily able to recover your previous ROM/Data as they were before.
Introduction:
- I have made the hard work so you don't have to do it yourself to upgrade your tablet. I followed all the online instructions to install the following ROM file "pa_p6800-2.55-17NOV2012-053308a" with this Google Apps package "gapps-jb-20121011-signed" on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, and then I had reset my device (factory reset) and took a FULL BACKUP with a recovery software called TWRP.
- This torrent is the FULL BACKUP recovery made by TWRP and once you install (flash) the TWRP recovery software on your device you will be able to take this BACKUP and recover it on your own device without problems. So here are the detailed instructions:
BE WARNED:
1. Before beginning make sure to charge your device battery to above 80% !! Losing power during recovery may BRICK your tablet.
2. I repeat: This torrent is ONLY for those who own the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 with Wifi & 3G (GT-P6800). The instructions provided here will not work on any other device or model.
3. The instructions provided here are accurate to the best of my ability and I will help you upgrade your tablet by replying to your comments if you had any problems BUT STILL you will do this at your own risk and I'm not responsible for any data you may lose or tablet you may brick.
4. Please read the instructions in the given order and do exactly as mentioned to avoid any problems. Should any questions arise just raise your hand and ask before continuing. It's better to be safe than sorry.
5. Your Tablet must be ROOTED for being able to install TWRP recovery given the following instructions if it's not rooted try following this link before continuing further: (link provided)
In case this link doesn't work you will find many tutorials online on how to ROOT your Galaxy Tab 7.7 just Google it and good luck, then come back here.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Objective: Preparing Extracted Data
After completing torrent download extract the file "SamsungGT_7.7_Custom_ROM.rar" with WinRar on your PC on your prefered location and leave it there until required.
2. Objective: Installing TWRP Recovery on Tablet
Open Google Play market on your Galaxy Tab search, download and install the GooManager application. Open it, and look for "Flash ROMS", a message will pop-up telling you "IN ORDER TO USE THIS FEATURE YOU MUST HAVE AN OPENRECOVERYSCRIPT COMPATIBLE RECOVERY", just choose "Try to find one for me". This should download the TWRP recovery software and automatically flash your device you will see a pop-up message saying "TWRP recovery is installed successfully". If your device is not ROOTED the GooManager application will not have the privilage to FLASH your ROM. If your tablet is not rooted just quit this tutorial, search for online Tutorials on how to root your Tablet on Google and come back again.
3. Objective: Transfer Recovery Backup onto Tablet
OK, now you have to copy the TWRP folder you just downloaded through this torrent onto the EXTERNAL SDCard of your Samsung Galaxy Tab. To do that, just connect your device to the computer with its USB cable and in a minute or 2 you should be able to see your Device "GT-P6800" under Portable Devices (if you are Windows 7) or perhaps "Removeable Device" (if you are on Windows XP). Just make sure that you copy the extracted TWRP folder on your external storage (SD Card) on your Galaxy Tab. If you did not see your external drives on My Computer you might need to install Samsung Kies Drivers so your tablet is recognized on Windows.
4. Objective: Boot Into Recovery Mode
Now you have the TWRP recovery software flashed on your device and the recovery Backup itself on the external storage. The next step is to Power Off your Galaxy Tab completely, then Press the Power Button and hold on together with the Volume UP (+) button. Once you see the Samsung Galaxy Tab logo remove your finger from the Power button and you should see TEAMWIN with blue background and you will be in Recovery Mode.
5. Objective: Full Backup of Existing Data
Once you are in the TWRP recovery screen just touch on the "Backup" button to make a full backup of your current ROM & Data so in case anything went wrong you can recover all your data later with no problems. Make sure that "System", "Data", "Boot", "Recovery" & "Cache" checkboxes are checked and then choose the radio button "Using Internal Storage" or "External Storage" depending where you have more space (external storage is recommended). Then Swipe the arrow on the left to the right to Backup your device.
6. Objective: Full Recovery of New ROM Package
After successful backup, touch on the home button at the top of the screen and touch "Restore" button so you can now install the New ROM recovery you downloaded on your external storage. You will see 2 radio buttons one is "Using external SD" and the other "Using internal Storage". Since you put your recovery on external storage just leave the radio button checked on "Using external SD" and you should see the "FRESHBACKUP" recovery folder, touch on it. In the next screen make sure that the "System", "Data", "Boot", & "Cache" checkboxes ARE CHECKED. Considering you have made all the steps exactly as mentioned so far Swipe the left arrow from LEFT TO RIGHT to recover your tablet into the new ROM. Wait until all the recovery steps are finished indicating that all is successful. You will find a button to "Reboot System" or similar.
7. Objective: Be Patient, It's Happening
Once you reboot you will notice IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME AT FIRST don't panic, just leave it finish what it is doing for as long as 10 minutes. You will find the "Android is Upgrading" pop-up optimizing your applications, that is totally normal. Then finish all the step-by-step instructions given on the screen in regards to your Google Account and Good Job You are now enjoying Paranoid Android 2.55 with Jelly Bean 4.1.2. You can customize it as you wish from the settings.
Troubleshooting:
In case you had any problems in Steps 6 & 7 or you didn't like the new recovered ROM just go to Step 4 (boot into recovery mode) and recover your original data you backed up in Step 5.
Application Tips: The following are my favorite must have applications:
1. SwiftKey Keyboard is a great keyboard that reduces typing errors through predictions and learns a great deal about your your own choice of words.
2. Pattrn is a very good application for simple backgrounds.
3. Flipboard & News360 great tablet apps for enjoying news in an intuitive interface.
4. Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, & YouTube app.
5. ES File Explorer & File Manager.
6. Kobo Ebooks.
7. Firefox & Dolphin Browsers.
8. Evernote (Great Cloud based Notes - Never lose your important notes).
9. Bluetooth File Transfer.
10. Juicy Defender (Battery Saving App).
11. Market Access App (you will not find this on Google Play Market. Google it and once installed you can download apps from market not restricted by Country).
12. TapaTalk (Great forum-ing experience for Android).
13. Yahoo Weather (the most simple widget for Weather Info)
14. WordWeb dictionary (great free dictionary).
15. MX Player & ArmV7 process codec package (very good media player).
16. Dr. Web Light antivirus (The lightest antivirus for android with very high detection rates).
17. WiFi Analyzer (great for deciding on which Channel to put your WiFi router so you have the highest reception).
18. CamCard (Scans your business cards and automatically fills-in to your contact list).
19. Adobe Flash Player (It is no longer available in Google Play but you can find it in online tutorials on Google, it's a must for some websites to work).
If you have any inquiries just comment on the torrent and I will respond, otherwise send an email on [email protected] Torrent commenting is more recommended though!

Only problem with Paranoid is that it is based on CM and there are many know issues. My biggest issue is the video codecs. The devs will not fix this and any videos I have that play in ICS will not play in any ROM based on CM. Would love to have a Jelly Bean ROM but with some many know issues I am happy with ICS until an official update comes out, if it ever does.

I suggest that you guys give a try to this Rom because the performance versus feature boost makes the ICS stock Rom look like an ancient slow tablet. The delay of opening the Phone app is highly reduced and I rarely ever lag on keyboard.
Quick question befour i flash this rom is otg working or not
Thanks

Sorry what is OTG? Ok I checked on Amazon and I guess I have never used this device. But the usb connection to the computer is working as expected normally.
Secondly, why do you have to take a risk in flashing a ROM? Take a full backup recovery of your existing configuration, should anything go wrong you can revert back so easily without losing anything. Let me know if you need any help.

Finally, I found and flashed with it.

But the Paranoid settings under Settings are not working and not adjustable..
Which version of gapps did you use? What exactly is not working in paranoid settings?

that's what i did yesterday, not sure about all this mumbo jumbo extra steps this guy is posting.
downloaded 2.55 - was coming from stock so went into CWM, flashed PA 2.55, rebooted into recovery, then wiped cache, dalvik and did factory reset, then rebooted into recovery and flashed PA 2.55 again.
booted up, rebooted into recovery and flashed gapps.
easy peasy.

"I haven't faced any problems with the following apps:

All the movies I have are either straight digital copies or dvd rips, they have not been converted into anything. They play fine in ICS but on any CM based ROM they don't, no matter what video player I used. Again it all has to do with the the missing codecs of ICS. I don't want to waste my time converting all my movies just because the ROM does not support them.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by updating to cyanogenmod 10.1, the music player now works perfectly. I used the 160313 nightly. Also, that update adds a lot of nice new features such as customisable lock screen widgets, customisable launcher and menu transitions and mostly the new clock.

It must have been a bug with that specific version of cyanogenmod. I recommend that you go to a 10.1 nightly, or try Viper. You do NOT need S-OFF.
So, can you guide me please to fix this problem ? =D

Basically, CyanogenMod 10 had a buggy music player on the One S. This is fact. They have addressed the majority of these issues in 10.1, but some sacrifices will have to be made. For example, you will get some screen tearing when scrolling, but if your One S is relatively new (anything under nine months) then you won't have many problems with that. Also (this could be just specific to my phone, not sure about anybody else) when trying to connect to mobile data, you have three options. GPRS, HSPA+, or nothing (sadly, when you are tied to Orange, you will experience the third option rather frequently). However, I use music far more than I use mobile data, because I have a computer opposite my bed, and Jelly Bean 4.2 has some snazzy features such as lock screen widgets, and the new digital clock is far nicer than the old analogue one.
So, follow these steps:
- Boot your phone into bootloader and select recovery (if you do not have TWRP 2.3.3.0, flash that in fastboot USB first).
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
- Go back to main menu, reboot, reboot into bootloader.
- On your computer, open the .zip file for CM10.1 and copypasta the boot.img on the first screen into your Android SDK platform-tools folder.
- Open cmd, change destination to the platform-tools folder then type fastboot flash boot boot.img.
- Rename the CM10.1 folder to CM10.1 and on your phone's SD card make a folder called ROMs (easy for switching in the future).
- Then type adb push CM10.1.zip /sdcard/ROMs.
- If both transfers are successful, then close cmd, as it is no longer needed. Or keep it open, whatever floats your boat.
- Go back into TWRP, flash CM10.1.zip.
- Reboot the phone, let it optimise apps etc.
- Reboot into bootloader, select recovery.
- Flash gapps 4.2.2 - I don't think that 4.1 works. Then again, why would it, it's outdated.
- Reboot the phone.
These are to make cyanogenmod 10.1 work to its full potential:
- Drag the notification bar down, click the tiles button in the top right corner, select settings.
- Scroll down to and select Apps
- Find Clock and cLock. Clear data on both.
- Find Play Store. Clear data.
And you have a phone with the latest version of Android that HTC don't want you to have and a fully-functioning music player.
Just a hint - download Play Music. Excuse my language, but Apollo is a pile of ****e, worst music player I've come across in my life.
oO -->
Can you kindly specify more in detail because I am a complete totally noob when it comes to android. Thanks

Please tell me that you are just trying to be a really, really bad (as in not very good at it) troll, because it is impossible to go into more detail than that.

really ? but 10.9.4 is same with 10.9.3 (that i tested and worked correctly) make sure you have not deleted the "/GearManager" or "/GearManager/Musics/" folder on your main partition (Macintosh HD) or try to remove the "/GearManager" folder on your mac and then run application again and hit install sdb

I'm not the author of the app, but I doubt the tool could do it automatically without an exploit. But a semi-automatic version could be possible - Would a step by step instructions help you though? i.e
0) automatically download the rooted rom
1) hold down home button until you see rebooting screen
2) tap home button 3 times
3) tap home button until you select download
however at step 4 we run into a problem, this is where Odin usually comes to play (windows only) - the crossplatform version uses a tool heimdall, which requires a PIT file. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be easy to get, I made another thread on that.
So yes it should be possible to do this semi-automatic version, just requires some work.

I have the same here, OS X 10.9.4, i changed nothing, the watch is connected on usb, i tryied with USB debugg mode on and off, nothine happens when i click on open widget filder or anything else...
I didn't change anything since the installation...
it seem this app does not make the folder structure during the installation.
but if i make a folder called "GearManager" in my Macintosh HD and re-install the app it builds them.
