How do you change io scheduler?
Via voltage control or setcpu
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
The V6 supercharger script can do it, as can ROM toolbox.
I use Rom Toolbox for scheduler change.

Have you tried the sio scheduler? Trinity kernel comes default with deadline, and it's telling me that sio is preferred over deadline. I think it'll cause a bootloop though...

There's really no "best" kernel; each phone's cpu is slightly different, and may work better with one kernel over another. Both the trinity kernels by morfic and faux's kernels have followings that love them; I personally and having great success with faux's stuff. Best to just nandroid, then try them each out and see what your phone likes best.
Aite I can dig that but wat do u use to overclock and undervolt cuz I dnt know wat settings to use with set cpu

Use pimpmycpu. Setcpu as I understand it doesn't work right with the tegra2 currently. You can get pimpmycpu for free here on xda (just search it), or if you want to support the dev you can buy it in the android market. As for specific settings, it once again comes down to each chip is slightly different, so you'll have to experiment. People will usually post what they've been successful with in the respective kernel's threads though, if you want a place to start at.

Faux cm7 kernel is pretty much your only choice since morfic hasn't updated his kernel with the newest cm7 chances in a while

Ondemand with deadline is my favourite setting. I would advise you _thalamus' kernel if you don't overclock!

Trafalger,
Are you using this kernel on a Verizon S III?
I found the TMOUS download link, but didn't see anything in the post confirming that the kernel would work on one of our phones ...

Which kernel for our phone is the best taking performance and battery both into consideration.
As in which has the best battery backup and fastest speed?

You can use fugumod. As per the general consensus it's the most consistent. But finally it depends on your personal choice.
Does fugumod support recovery mode ??

Do you use the kernel? Is there an original thread somewhere that we should peruse? I'm wondering how it stacks up against other kernels as far as features goes.
Also, what ROMs is it compatible with?

G3 Mod
I use G3Mod kernel OC. People say its a bit bad on the battery and sometimes i agree with it. I have a very old battery r u can say the battery which came with cell when it was launched and i bought it. Still sometimes with moderate to low usage i get almost a day worth of battery which is okay for me..
I havent tried fugumod much except for a few roms but was not comfortable with it...
Any kernel except G3Mod (With messed up battery drivers) is good.

Hey guys, I'm using rooted stock gingerbread with tagb kernel 1.2 hotfix and I'm also using a mode i.e. Int2ext+. Everything is fine but recently my phone is shutting down on it's own even though there is enough battery. It happens once in a day while downoloading, browsing and listening to some music at the same time! My phone is overclocked to 691 mhz default by kernel, which makes my phone unstable! So, I have used "No cpu frills " app to bring it down to max:600mhz and min: 240mhz, governor : 'performance' or sometimes 'powersave' , scheduler: sio. I think unexpected shutdown is due to overclocking but i use "No cpu frills". Sometimes, my cpu runs to 691 mhz and if overclocking is the issue then how do i bring it normal frequency permanently without using any app or without applying the settings ( clocking at normal frequency) every boot using a app. Today, I was messing with the no cpu frills to change the governor to performance but my phone shutted down on its own. Please help me!
keep cpu min to 480 MHz and cpu max to 729 MHz. dont worry, this is very stable and doesn't drain the battery. also configure the settings to set these frequencies on boot. reply if the prob is solved.

But it happens when my phone is not overclocked. What is the reason behind it? I was just switching the governors that's it.

Today I noticed a warm boot during a phone call, but it didn't got lost! Things can happen, but no idea why. No error message so far, just rebooting, no re-dialing.
Probably useless to search for the error. It happened once and not repeating since then anymore.
