Hey, any of you managed to play HTML5 videos on your wp7 phones?
I own a LG O7 updated to the latest fw. Other HTML5 elements work ok, but HTML5 videos don't. I use IE browser, but also tried other browsers, but nothing.
Any workaround for this?

HTML5 videos work just fine on my Samsung Omnia 7.
I just double checked on a few websites and HTML5 video works perfect on my old focus.
It's not that simple. Yes, WP7 can play mp4 containers with specific encoding. But... There is no video container specification for source of video tag in HTML5, unfortunately. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5_video
So, Apple, for example, may put .mov or HLS (.m3u8) as source on HTML5 page, and WP7 will unable to play (by default, without third party apps) these formats.
Html5 videos on youtube.com/html5 worked perfectly even on my nodo hd7
Sent from my {Nokia Lumia 800} using Board Express
I can watch YouTube,dailymotion,mun2.tv, vimeo,and tube8 just fine on my HD7
Please provide a link to the video you are trying to play.
My Samsung Focus plays HTML5 video just fine.
Hey, thanks for the replies.
Here is an example link: http://vplay.ro/watch/2qz961xf/?player=html5
Do you know any third party apps to play this unsupported html5 videos?
Ok, do you guys have your browser set to mobile or desktop?

Hello guys.
Have any of you had problems trying to view coreplayer youtube?
Apparently it is a problem so us TG01 Cannot view youtube because we are running an outdated version of coreplayer.
We will not be receiving an update therefore we cannot view youtube through coreplayer.
So i have tried downloading and installing various youtube applications, but none of them seem to support TG01 WVGA display coming out blurry.
I have tried: Google Youtube (blurry), HTC Youtube App (unable to play videos), YoutubePlay (blurry)
Can anyone suggest a good free youtube app (cab) that is fully functional and supports its screen resolution. I cannot find one!
(pleased do not suggest flash browsers i.e skyfire i have tried them and not impressed would prefer a built application.)
Thank you much apprieciated,
Oliver
KINOMA player work perfect, with seach engine very nice. is amazing!!!
sorry not the answer you're looking for, but INHO the latest version of the google app is pretty decent...
you could also try opera 10 as this now supports youtube or skyfire (which is my new best friend as far as flash based sites go)
or you could buy the latest coreplayer (no, i wouldn't either)
lemme know if you need me to post any cabs, i have all i mention above (bar the paid version of coreplayer)
cheers

Re Core Player - I already had the paid Core Player from previous devices and can confirm taht the latest edition works fine, while the one that was included in the TG01 ROM doesn't - it was one key bug they sorted in the last update.

I agree with you, i am not willing to pay to upgrade my coreplayer version. i already had opera mobile 10 as my default browser, but am not to keen on watching youtube on that.
as my first post stated, i have also used skyfire aswell, but i wouldpprefer to view youtube through a built in application rather than a flash browser.
I have also just tried the latest google youtube app. still no screen resolution fix...
any other suggestions?
thanks for your help,
Oliver

I use Youtubeplay with success on TG01. My version is v1.0.0.11
http://tinyurl.com/youtubeplay
You can even download videos as FLV with it.
You say that videos are blurry. In fact some few videos are blurry but most of them are OK, I think that it depends of the source, not the player...
Greetings from BCN
i agree with olly, i've got the exact same problem. Ibelieve what he is asking for is an app called WVD which no longer works, it capabilities of viewing youtube vidz in 3gp, flv and mp4, and allowed you to download all videos. it was extremely fast aswel.
anyone know of a similar app or good substitube for WVD?
Hey brian,
In arag0ns manilla rom, he includes a working htc youtube app. If you are not looking to flash a new rom, perhaps you could contqct him and ask him if he could kindly provide us with a cab of A working HTC Youtoube.
htc manilla youtube app that can be found in aragon's roms isnt bad ... but it doesnt support Accounts !! so u have no idea if u got any new subbed videos
best thing rite now is m.youtube.com , and trust me i know it was ****ty last time u checked it , opening a stupid player app , but theyve stepped up their game and have account management , Flash player embedded , not the best quality but its lightweight and responsive .

video is flv, it's no supported, flv is diff from swf
i've tested the v3 on archos 5 internet tablet with a small flex swf application, but it seems it doesn't work. the flex application that i've tried is created with flex 3.5 version (flash 9.0.124).
is this swf player for android opensource?....if so can you pls post the link for the source code.....it works a little slow but i badly need to have a swf player embeded into my application....plus could you give me a link to the open source swf player you ported it from......thanks
I can't seem to get it to work with any swf embedded in the browser included in 2.2.1 Cyanogenmod 6, froyo.
Already tried different websites with swf and i haven't found any supported yet.
is there something i have to do after installing?.
this was tested in htc magic, which doesn't have support for 10.1 flash from adobe either.
It opens and plays only Videos uploaded from YouTube
I have tested it on my APad 2.1.Flytouch in Facebook on a video uploaded from Youtube with the browser and it played it allright , but other formats it cant open or play.
I tried this on PanDigital with open platform Android installed version 2. The process would terminate unexpectedly. The goal was to try to use this app to view streaming flash content from continuing eductaion web site. Can this app do that? are there any tweaks? I tried release 3 and 6.
I can open SWF file in my Defy, but no sound, sigh~~
Thankyou very much
not wrking in ICS
Hi,
I am new to Android and I would like to get some help for a few questions before buying a Gtablet.
1) Flash support - I saw it's posted on the official website it has a temp version of flash player. Can I know if it works well? I need to watch high-def flash movies on different websites. I hope it can play smoothly. Also am I able to play facebook flash games?
2) RMVB/AVI/MKV support - I have tons of these kind of videos on my NAS server but the official site does not say they are supported. I heard there is a Rockplayer that can do it, but I went to their App Store and found no such software. Can i know a way to play these formats? If the hardware does not support them, and there is a software does, how is the quality and speed?
3) Local LAN share - I think I already googled there is one called EStrong, can I open my NAS file share folders, and play Video directly?
4) Customization - Can I install apps from anywhere instead of their app store? for example can i install Android Market? or install an app from a file?
That's pretty much what i concerns so far, other than that this is a great tablet!
I much appreciate your advices.
I can help with the first and fourth ones. This afternoon I watched an episode of outsourced on nbc.com. it wasnt perfect, but definatly viewable, and youtube videos all look fine for me. As for the last one, I have the android market installed, and I have also installed .apks that I have the file form so yea they do work.
re. 2, my son user rockplayer to watch some mkvs last weekend. I'm not that familiar w/anime, but he said it wasn't handling embedded softsubs. We did find another player on market that did but I don't remember the name.
re. 3, ES Explorer will copy files over lan (windows shares or ftp), but it's not for streaming.
Mkv support depends more on how it was encoded. I ripped some DVDs to mkv with 5.1 sound using handbrake and those will play in rockplayer using software decode fine.

I should clarify my earlier post. We were able to watch the MKVs (animes) he had downloaded fine with rockplayer. But they had softsubs, and it wasn't showing those.

Re. 1, my wife uses the Gtab to watch Kdramas, on sites that stream flash, and it works pretty well. Served from sites like tudou, qdisk, etc., and works ok, but a lot of those sites sometimes have heavy traffic, and even with a PC, they get jerky, so it's not the Gtab, but the stream server and traffic usually.

Works on news sites, tv.com, hulu, but thats with vegan 5.1. The stock rom ran flash "ok" but would crash some times.

According to the specs It will play:
32-bit LP-DDR2, DDR2
S1080p H.264/H.263/ VC-1/MPEG-2/4/WMV9/DiVX 4/5 Video Decode
1080p H.264/MPEG-4 Video Encode
Supports multi-standard audio formats, including AAC, AMR, WMA, and MP3
Not all of those are working currently (some are and some aren't). Get yourself a good video encoder/dvd ripper for your computer and once they are encoded, you just drag and drop onto the gtab. If they are encoded properly with the proper settings, you get descent video quality.
4) Customization - Can I install apps from anywhere instead of their app store? for example can i install Android Market? or install an app from a file?

Yes but you will need to do a couple updates using the developer instructions from here and then do a market fix. The easiest one is the simple performance pack update to the 3389 build with a market fix, however over 5,000 people have gone to vegan 5.1
http://vegantab.gojimi.com/
It is the best from what i can tell, wicked fast. It has two issues curently 1) Micro SD card management/file mgt 2) Keyboard auto correct. Updates seem to come out every 10 days to 2 weeks right now.
Thank you all!
Thanks a lot for your answers it helped me a lot!

Hi everyone,
I have an Omnia 7 on 7392 (Malaysia) and lately I've been having a problem with streaming YouTube videos from LazyTube, YouTube (lazyworm), SuperTube, EasyTube and RealTube. None of them will playback in HQ, and the clips can't be downloaded either.
There is no problem playing the vids with the official MS YouTube though, I can even stream HQ on WiFi, but the 3rd party apps all fail to do it.
Anyone else having the same problem? Or better yet, a solution? I found another guy on the internet with this problem, but doesn't look like there is a solution. I want to watch Conan O'Brien in HQ

The ironies of life. I've been having this problem since days ago, and I even sent an email to LazyWormApps. They promptly replied with "YouTube is making some changes, we will update our apps soon". But that got me thinking, why isn't the official MS YouTube app affected? I had a similar problem when I unplugged my headset in the midst of playing a video clip and had to reboot the phone. But that didn't work this time around, I contemplated resetting my phone.
And then lo and behold, 10 minutes after I posted this question, my WP7 News app showed that news.

Microsoft's YouTube "app" is just an H.264 plugin for YouTube Mobile site. Google refuse to allow Microsoft to accessing YouTube metameta data which all the other apps uses.
Microsoft said:
Second, in 2010 and again more recently, Google blocked Microsoft’s new Windows Phones from operating properly with YouTube. Google has enabled its own Android phones to access YouTube so that users can search for video categories, find favorites, see ratings, and so forth in the rich user interfaces offered by those phones. It’s done the same thing for the iPhones offered by Apple, which doesn’t offer a competing search service.
Unfortunately, Google has refused to allow Microsoft’s new Windows Phones to access this YouTube metadata in the same way that Android phones and iPhones do. As a result, Microsoft’s YouTube “app” on Windows Phones is basically just a browser displaying YouTube’s mobile Web site, without the rich functionality offered on competing phones. Microsoft is ready to release a high quality YouTube app for Windows Phone. We just need permission to access YouTube in the way that other phones already do, permission Google has refused to provide.

Wow... Google is really being an ass about this then. I'm so glad now they lost the Nortel IP bids.
edit... wait... The outage happened on EXACTLY the same day Google started whining about losing the Nortel patent bids. You don't suppose this is intentional... do you?
SuperTube and LazyTube got an update today that fix it.
even some htc youtube doesn't support some you tube.Needs to dl ms youtube.
This happened because there's no real api to get MP4 files from youtube and I don't think google wants you to either, so you have to download the page then parse the urls out. They changed the format the urls were in.
My guess is that they don't want people to watch youtube videos without their ads, but they have to have MP4 support for other platforms. Pretty sad that they havn't provided the api to get these files/metadata to Microsoft, when Apple and others have.

Hi,
Why is not supported Silverlight in IE9 ?
When will it be available ?
Thanks for info.
I'm just curious, but why do you need silverlight?
Same reason a lot of people want Flash, you know... Streaming Video and stuff like that...

And do what with it? Interact with those fiddly little video controls using your touchscreen? Zoom in so the player fits the window? Play flash games using your non-existent keyboard?
No, Flash and Silverlight are on their way out as far as streaming videos are concerned. Apple knows this. Microsoft knows this. As for the other uses, such as web apps - the experience using a touch screen wouldn't even be worth it.
