update - LG Optimus 3D

I'm tempted to update my phone to GB (mexican version) just to know if it's better than v21a, not sure if it can be rooteable or anything
so if the case is that it can't be rooted or worths, can I go back to v21a without probs??

It shouldnt be a problem to flash back if you know what your doing

Learn how to do this))

I will say that in order to flash any custom kernels or roms your Xoom needs to be rooted. There are some good guides on rooting Australian Xooms. I guess you can always go back to stock, but I'm not certain about the ability to relock.
Enjoy your Xoom! It's a great tablet.
You can relock oficial images only.
thats all well and good but my xoom wont even update ota from telstra from 3.0.1 to 3.1. Do I need to be on wifi?
telstra have pulled the update for the moment due to battery consumption issues, mine dramaticaly increased after the update
If you need to return to stock then here is how http://www.youtube.com/user/sleeplessninjas#p/u/8/KjkD4AJaSCc
There is a link to get the region specific files from the Moto site.
There is a How to root guide in the Xoom general forum specifically for rooting the Australian Xoom and updating the ROM to 3.1.
If you dont have a lot of experience with root android devices read everything very carefully and always follow the instructions to the letter and you wont have a problem.......I didn't

[Q] downgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.3.3

Hi, I am an i9000 user. I upgraded my phone to 2.3.4 and rooted it. I want to unroot it. I also want to know how to go back to 2.3.3
Just flash it with ODIN
it is easy but you need to read about how to use Odin if you have not before, do that throughly.
Once you are familiar.
Get the correct 2.3.3 firmware you want from samfirmware dot com (you need to register free)
Make absolutley sure it is the correct firmware and read the how to guide on the site.
Flash it and that is that (you do not need to unroot before, the new firmware will be unrooted). Do not forget to back up all your data first as flashing wipes all out.
QUESTION but why on earth do you want to go from the better 2.3.4 to the bugy 2.3.3 ? (that is why it was released in May to be replaced by 2.3.4 in June) !!!!
why?
was wondering the same thing...im trying go upgrade...why go
back down?

Stock recovery.

Hi, all.
Want to prepare for ICS update....
It been a long time since I messed with the phone 9 month or so....LOL
Have S-OFF, CWM, rooted, but still on stock ROM, since I use my HD2.
I remember seeing somewhere a thread with instruction on how to switch back to stock recovery.... one of the requirements of flushing ICS OTA.
Now I searched everywhere and can't find it....
Would you be so kind to point me to it?
Thanks in advance!
Get it from any RUU and flash via fastboot
but you'll need an RUU anyway as you need to 100% stock to use the ota
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I'd do a Nandroid Backup of the stock rom. I think this is the easiest way to restore stock rom if you need.

Shoot throw me in the same boot! I tried reading mikes guide for updating and I think its probably 100x simpler just doing the OTA and calling it a day. I'm not sure how much I'll personally be going back to this phone as I've crossed over to the SGSII now but seeing how HTC is putting out that limiting "one" phone I suspect this will be my last HTC phone for awhile.
I'm not dissing mikes ARHD rom either but I'm looking for the simplest of simplest instructions (other than OTA) like:
1. D/L (only) this one file/ROM and CWM/4EXT and flash.
2. ???
3. Profit.

[Q] dont like ics, want gingerbread back

NOOB HERE
i'm from india and using mb865.
i updated my phone from gingerbread to ics a week back. But i'm hating it(interface) and want to go back to gingerbread as i loved it then..
but before updating moto clearly stated that we CANNOT go back to gingerbread...please help i want my earler phone back!
You can't go back to gingerbread from the official OTA to ICS. Sorry mate. You're stuck.
See here for more info on ICS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1882335
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Yes you can
You can indeed revert from ics to gingerbread. I have done it and it works.
I hated ics mainly because of the rotten battery back up...On gingerbread i used to get about 3hrs for every 10% drop in battery..but in ics it used to drop by 10% every 1.5 hours. Hated that.. Plus there are hardly any benefits of ics on the atrix if you installed go launcher and other apps..plus if you can debloat it using titanium, it becomes even smoother than ics,.
This is how you do it
Install RSD lite 5.6 (search in google)
Download the motorola drivers and instal it
Switch off your phone
switch your phone into the bootloader mode by pressing both the volume buttons and then the power button....then choose fastboot ap
open RSD lite and browse to the original untouched GB rom
You can download the rom from hxxp://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php download the asian retail searet 28.37
plug in the phone through usb.. wait till all the drivers are loaded
then click start>>uncompress and start flashing
the flashing will take about 20 min and the atrix screen will switch on and off repeatedly...
DONT disconnect the phone until it says "finished" in the RSD lite
and you are back in GB
Mae sure that you battery is atleast 50% charged before starting and that the computer doesnt go into sleep during the flash
I have done this about 2 times without any issues but i will not be responsible for any bricks
happy flashing
Do Not Attempt Without Further Evidence!

The real question here is whether you (spunxhoe) were on a leaked version of ICS or the official OTA release of ICS. We're all aware -or should be- that the only known way to FXZ back to GB is if the user is on a leaked version of ICS, not the official. If you were, in fact, on the official OTA ICS and flashed back to GB, please provide more tangible proof other than 'yeah, you can -I've done it twice'. If you have had success coming from OFFICIAL OTA ICS to GB, then you need to give us some legitimate evidence. As it stands now, we all have been advising users NOT to flash back to GB if on any official releases of ICS due to the certainty of soft bricking...
Get your facts right
Right...and whats the proof you require?
These are all the things that have done...stock GB rom to ICS leak..then back to stock GB..then upgraded OTA ICS..and then back to stock GB rom..The GB bootloader has a A.68 version.. the ICS bootloader was A.72 or 73..cant remember..I HAVE FLASHED back to GB from OTA ICS using the method described... Apparently you have got your facts mixed up...THE AT&T ICS ROM leaks have caused bricks..not the SEARET ones.. MOD EDIT.... NO PROFANITY.
---------- Post added at 10:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:10 PM ----------
Oh yeah.. i have had three soft bricks..thats only cos i tried the clockwork recovery mod specifically modified for atrix 2.. it did work at times but it also caused the soft bricks and had to reflash the roms..
I wonder what's the "in principle" difference between a leak and OTA. I flashed the ICS cheesecake leak which turned out to be the SAME as the OTA that was pushed out later.
Truce
[MOD EDIT...................
Truce....maybe i was out of line there...but couldnt let it go when something that i had done myself was shot down without a buzz..
I HAVE FLASHED BACK FROM THE OFFICIAL OTA ICS TO GB STOCK ON MB865 SEARET USING RSD LITE..
But i cant stress it enough...the AT& T leaks have got bricks..but not the searet....take my word for it..as far as you can throw me atleast....
and if proof is required lemme know..i will give em as far as i can make out there is no way of proving a version 18 rom to be a leak or OTA..

Fair enough. And, for the record, if you thought I was in any way slighting your statements from your own experience regarding the above conversation(s), then I apologize. Perhaps, it might bode well for you, and others on SEARET ICS for you to post a thread with some definite instructions/screenshots/etc. with the abilities you (on SEARET/MEARET) have to flash back to GB. You would find yourself much more well received in doing something such as that...

In fact, there is. Somebody had posted the OTA file on mediashare. The MD5 checksum was the same as the version 18 leak. So the OTA and leak are identical...byte for byte.
Anyway, whether they are identical is not important. If someone is speaking of difference between a leak and OTA, there must be some difference between them other than the title! No?
I think the point would be that if this does not work the phone is a paper weight..... So working or not someone who joined this week and has a post count under 10 makes proof that much more needed..... In the past there have been quite a few people that have made claims that fell short and bricked quite a few phones and like that they were gone..... In the best intrust of the OP wait for a dev or other with the proof of concept before you attempt anything..... If you value your device ICS is better than a brick!!!!!

Knock it off people. Looks like I'll have to spend time cleaning the thread, if I just don't close it down instead.
For you "Senior" members, I expect a lot more maturity from you. Especially from 1 in particular.
You all need to lay off the triple portion of red meat for awhile.

I would think the risk involved of FXZ'ing back to GB from an official ICS is just not worth it, since I think INDIA Moto's have NO WARRANTY.
However, what is the probability of rooting, installing bootmenu manager, and from there, doing a restore, then flashing a GB rom without the stock recovery?
I have not read anything on this as I think most people want ICS and I have not seen anyone try. I think this could be a way back to GB, but I am looking for someone who has tried this, I AM NOT ASKING SOMEONE TO RISK A BRICK TO FIND OUT, just wondering has anyone already tried it and what happened???
Another possibility: There are launchers themed for ICS for GB, are there any GB themed launchers for ICS for the nostalgic fellows like this guy??
But, I guess if he is looking for webtop, then like me he is waiting for JIM's ICS webtop project.

Hi,
Indian Moto A2's come with 1 year warranty.
Please see the link in my post above. People have flashed back from ICS to GB and lived to tell the tale.
Will get you the screen grabs for the flash back
guess no one has faith in humanity afterall...gimme some time and i will get the required screen grabs...it aint easy to update the OTA ICS and then reflash GB...and this is when i had completely customised and debloated my GB rom the way i wanted..
Still for the greater good....

[Q] Rooting stock ICS i815

So I have been looking high and low, and am finding so much confusing information, it's frustrating. I want to root my SCH-i815, which is on the stock ICS (Mine was a refurb that came with ICS pre-loaded) I can't find straight answers or instructions on installing CWM and root anywhere... am I blind or is there really not a straight forward guide/answer anywhere?

I Used TWRP download and used terminal emulator command on the site but stock you should be able to use Odin
http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/108
Make sure you download the i815 version and follow the instructions exactly.
Also depending on your baseband version I would suggest upgrading your modem to lp11 for better connectivity
I flashed just the modem file in Odin

After everything if you want an awesome Rom I'm currently using PAC 23.0.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330651
For additional tweaking you might want to look into Rom toolbox pro script manager and v6 supercharger
I'll try to check back later to see how everything went
