[ROM][DEVELOPMENT][15/02/12] ThiaiZO3D Spectrum morph - LG Optimus 3D

This is a project to mix and port LG Spectrum + LG Nitro HD ROM to our LG O3D.I haven't got myself very far still, just started to play with it yesterday. As you guys can see, there is a lot of work to do and I need help. It is still buggy slow, but Launcher rolls much smoother than our LGHome one. The ROM is mixed with my V0.2 right now, but the idea is to use as much as possible from the other devices framework.
If you want to help, just if you really want to help, send me a PM and I will send you a link about my progress.
This is how it looks like:

TO DO LIST ON POST 2

To do list:
-Make new LGHome2.apk to load the app drawer.
-Make new LGHome2.apk to load widgets.
-I guess there is a USB Host drivers in the system dump.Have to investigate it and make get it to work on O3D
-Keep porting the rest of the system to our O3D

Reserved to me 2.

well...its looks really cool
best of luck on this....i hope you manage to work it out
thanx again for your continuous hard work man

looks promising,

It looks very good actually. Minimal lag there IA what I saw. And I noticed the important essentials are working, phone, wick. Wasn't able to obviously see if you got the GPS or data to work or even Bluetooth but definitely seems very promising my friend. Really good job bro.

Updated the first page with a new video + 2nd post with a small to do list for those who want to help.
I think this is the way to go, as you guys can see it is way smoother than our launcher

Great work man..I can see much difference and more smoothness in this launcher..u think it's gonna be OK to use at the end??wish it would..

still can't downloaded?

Got it working nice, but FC started again.

Can we now use a bluetooth keyboard??:0

When I get at least app drawer to load the app list. It is crazy how the launcher still very smooth even with the 7 screens totally full with widgets. Cant understand why LG havent released an small OTA update just with this new Launcher to us.

We can't understand a lot of LG's doing... Thank god we have a few devs onboard. Maybe LG should try to buy some devs too. Good luck with the launcher.

great work dear ThiaiZ..
i've a suggestion.. give it some animations.. when opening or closing windows or moving from one to another.. opening and closing launcher menu or unlocking animations.. it would be
perfect if it take pace!

ThiaiZ, What news about your disk? And whether there will be in him something new except the house screen. I am the admirer of your disks, but last 2.5 very astable in comparison with yours 2.4 (but there video record not so good) I am sorry for my English, I write from the translator

Nice to hear something about USB Host. Hopefully it work

[Dev]Honeycomb on the Desire HD [Video & DL]

BazookaAce kindly made a thread at the general section to inform us about Honeycomb for the DHD, so I thought I'd make one in the development section to give it some spotlight, BazookaAce's thread is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=958391
Here's the good stuff:
Video of Honeycomb running:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5-yO4FOAvI
Download link:
http://t3hh4xx0r.com/?p=1353
I did not develop this. The purpose of this thread is to inform our developers here about it.
Good luck.
Edit: My findings:
No wi-fi, no telephone, no brightness control, no sd-card detection, stuff on the homescreen (launcher) are not organized. And it's slow since there is zero ui acceleration.
Of course, performing a Nandroid backup is highly recommended.
This is only a plaything & it's not good enough for day to day use.
Devs work your magic
Great! Hope it will be stable soon!
Hmm. I've always thought that it was common courtesy to ask before doing. Not that I'd say no - just saying.
Here's a few tips:
Landscape via opening the camera app and then closing it.
Spare Parts -> Font Size -> Extremely Large Font. That way you can read without straining your eyes.
Also, if you allow your screen to turn off after the bootup, it will turn down brightness for each time it turns off. It won't turn it up. Weird little bugger.
Tried. Working. Buggy. Didn't expect much more though .
Wow looks like honeycomb is not only for tablets. In phone too.
This is just awesome news. U will start working in it soon.

I`m suggesting U start new thread about this port in general section "YEAH YEAH - reaction after Honeycomb port" and do not post here usless for developers posts ( IN DEVELOPERS section) ... If everyone will post just COOL GREAT WOW ... in few minutes there would be 10 sites about nothing and real developers couldn`t find here anything to make it better in so many useless post.
its developed for tablets only and UI is too small for phones, its no use for it on 4 inch display !!
Guys how long do you think, we need to make it stable and usefull for the day?
And from who is that video and who is the developer of it?
I don't say awesome, i say quietly brilliant

you've seen the video right?!!?!
As you can see in the video it's quite useable concerning the size.
But this ROM is build from the API-Preview SDK, so nor its finished nor it has any kind of source code behind.
I think as soon as google releases the source code we will see a proper Honeycomb version for our DHDs.
so, usb debugging is working and if you change the density to somthing higher you get a pulldownmenu and a forceclosing launcher but there are sings for a phone interface.

for those who have big fingers i think its hard to operate with this UI
i think EGL libraries are missing missing on this rom to run smoothly by the way nice to try , i would like to be a BETA tester for this for sure !!!

just to tell you, the Evo3D 3D camera is terrible. Well, not terrible, just... the 3D effect isn't as good as the Optimus3D. I've had a friend who took a 3D picture of me in 3D with flash and I took of him in 3D without flash. Both agreed that my picture was much better. And I tested out his 3D flash in a dark place. Trust me, it's not that good. When its light, Optimus3D has better 3D pictures. When its dark... the flash in the evo3D gives some light, but 3D effect is much much less too.
What I'm saying is, I wouldn't give up the excellent 3D image technology that LG has just for a tiny not useful brief of light from the Evo3D. Truthfully, the tiny flash isn't too helpful for the 3D. If you really want to take 3D pics in a DARK place, better to carry one of those huge and super powerful flashlights.
Sensation? Sense right? I was saying before how sense wasn't worth the time and effort to port. My reason is because, although its nice to look at, it also does drain more battery and takes up a lot of memory. Most of the people I know with Sense ended up switching to another launcher just days after using it. I'll admit that Sense looks BEAUTIFUL!!! But, after looking at it for a while, even pretty eyecandy gets tiring. The friend who had a Evo3D was very happy with Sense. However, he didn't feel anything special about it after about 3 days. I should also say that he quickly switched to Go Launcher EX after I showed him the Sphere transition effect in the app drawer. He hasn't regretted not using Sense yet. Don't think he will.
Porting a rom is possible, but a very long and complicated process. There's compatibility and stability issues to look at and fix. Its not worth the effort to do it especially when you think about how it'll be a never ending battle with bugfixes.
Personally, if you're just after gingerbread best to wait for LG to do it. People has waited this long, they can wait a bit longer. They've first announced the update to be in September I believe and then they announced that they'll delay it till this month or possibly next month for testing purposes. Just keep waiting, at least they tell you the reason its being delayed. Better than them just delaying the update for no reason. At the moment you know Gingerbread is almost here, but they're just at the stage where they want to make it as stable and bugfree before release. Personally, I feel that's much better than releasing some halfassed rom that has more problems than you can report. I'm sure some of you have been there. Haste makes waste right?
The testing stage for a product typically takes a long time. Some people spend months to test something before they release it. Its not like they can just develop something, throw it onto a phone, use it once then release it.
So, for those who are too impatient for the soon to come gingerbread release, my advice is just wait a bit more patiently. The more you rush them, the more unstable the release might be. Though, I believe most people are just upset due to an inferiority complex. Don't like to see that other people are getting a newer version of Android while their own is prehistoric. Don't worry too much about that, not like you'll always have the best and latest.
I agree to @DevJackey
moving from HTC Sense to other UI , it may take 2-3 days to adjust!
I am alive evidence of both HTC 3D EVO & LG-920 & LG-SU760 (special edition of LG 3D for SK Telecoms)
after several hours and capturing few pictures , I rushed back to shopkeeper to return the set and got back the LG 3D from him...Thanks God , I already experienced LG else could thought HTC EVE 3D is reality as best and this is how 3D works ... hehehehehehehe
LG works good even in room light. I think it just software issue and LG will release something to trigger FLASH in 3D. So better to wait for while , if LG will not do it , I am sure our XDA Developers are wonderful guys
First decide, What you want from 3D ?, 3D experience or UI (sense) + 3D Flash (and how many pictures you capture in dark)?
And don't forget the Real3D framework from LG. If you port the Evo 3D ROM you gain Sense and GB, but you lose Real3D, so no 3D app from LG will work on that ROM.
Thanks for your advice and also I say dark I Meen with my bed side lamp on but it just looks orange and grainy but I took a 2d image in the same lighting with flash and it was so much clearer
If your saying sense isn't that great can you maybesuggest a loader that uses little memory but Is sexy n smooth atm im using ice cream sandwich loader thanks

I suggest Go Launcher EX.
Wish I used it before I bought LauncherPro and ADW, but I guess the money's gone to a good cause.
Go Launcher is free. It's light. Its smooth. Its sexy.
A lot of themes on the market. Has its own Go Launcher Widgets that are pretty good.
Lots of customizations for the appearance.
Lots of beautiful transitions in both the homescreen and the app drawer. What stole my heart was the Sphere transition effect in the App Drawer when its in Horizontal Loop mode.
You could have folders support inside the app drawer and delete apps straight from it. There's a feature borrowed from iPhone where you can create folders and then drag apps and drop them onto those folders. Cool part is the app drawer transitions work inside the folders too.
Go give it a try, play with some settings, download a few themes, fall in love, have a happy romance, and enjoy the good life.
Since its free, no reason not to try right?
I think maybe I should work part-time as a App Promoter.

If your planing on doing a list of rom reviews get in touch with frankdrey, he and I were starting that as well but gave up for the time being. As for cm based roms I don't have the issue on the g1, on the few I tested for video streaming. Can't recall which ones I ever had issues like that on

Hmmm, well that's strange, absolutely every rom that is cm based for me has this issue.
Its like when then video reaches a certain point, the video restarts but the sound keeps going.
Ok, I will get in touch with him. I was going to make videos for every rom, as I know that when people want to get a rom they always would like to see a video of it but sometimes can't. I know how annoying that can be. So maybe instead of me making a channel on my own we could all get together and make channel for the 3 of us, then we could all upload videos of certain roms and rate them.

Thanks for this great rom but I got a problem. It's laggy while scrolling between home screens, any ideas ? I've tried changing scrolling speed in ADWsettings but no luck.
And I think Play Store is too much for G1, it's slow and fc sometimes.
Everything else is fine, really fast and smooth
Edit: Enable "use 16bit transparency" in CM settings should fix it Now it's perfect !!

[ROM] 5.07.651.1 (Closed) tread moved to MBQ Sniper.

This will be a continuation of the FirePower Roms. New Roms have been thoroughly checked and completely reworked.Faster,Better,Slimmer and more reliable. Both Roms include faster scrolling speed, faster app response and withdraw. Much faster overall experience. Lots of bloat removed that was left in.
Some Major Magic work done all around, for a noticeable improvement. All Roms may be used as a base by anyone, feel free to dig in. Make sure you {link} back here,in your tread.Give the Rom base some props.

Agreed. Good work! It's nice to see some of the mods from previous versions working on the new base. The text being wrong in the Quick Settings issue is going to be hex edit in SystemUI.apk, I believe. outerdepth had a similar issue when porting the Express. He might be able to help.

[ROM] HexperiaC-CM7.2 Stable: Updated 7/18/12

rom updated to cm7.2 stable and deodexed. nothing else changed, as the vibe i get is its pretty darn good as it sits.
this one was easy, its the cm7.2 stable base, with stuff added on top of it. i tried out ra3al's xperia home replacement, and boy was my mind blown. its just elegant, plain and simple. and it runs pretty good on our hero's too.
things added:
xperia s launcher and widgets from ra3al
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1557091
xperia s boot animation
and i added the default wallpaper from ra3al's wallpaper pack available in his app's thread, and added xperia s fonts.
im not a developer, i just borrow things i think are mind blowing. if you want and see fit to, please find donate links for ra3al. he is a real dev, and is insanely talented. all praise to him and other devs.
this is cm7.2 final for our heroc's straight from cyanogenmod, so if something doesnt work that is not related to the xperia apps or theme, please ask cyanogenmod.
everything should work, except for an already known about bug with the tools widget. the brightness setting will fc, and its because i havnt had the chance to sign all of ra3al's apps and this rom with the same stuff. im looking into it.
i suggest using an app such as script manager and using a script such as v6 supercharger to supercharge rom and bulletproof launcher.
also please flash a gb gapps package after installing

Same here. I saw this ROM on my HTC Evo Shift, I tried it and the widgets didn't work. Hopefully our heros can top that! I do miss the trackball from my hero though. Very helpful in Clockwork! I'll post back when I try it out when I have time!
Running smooth. Really like the launcher and animations. Probably going to keep it till my upgrade in July.

Thank you so much for bringing this smokin' port to the HeroC. I have tried CM 07 previously but this version seriously rocks our lowly Hero!!!!!!!!!! By far, hands down the best ROM I have run on this device...smooth and fast and I have encountered zero issues running this as my daily on Sprint!
sorry it took me so long to respond but im absolutely glad you like it nukeboy
May I ask what have you've changed/added except the launcher? I want to do a same project using the launcher, which is a great app with mind blowing animations, and porting will be time consuming instead of just making my own mod.
Cheers
hey 1ceb0x
i added the launcher and all the associated apks to a clean fresh copy of cm7.2rc3 (which by the way i need to update this so its cm7.2final)
link to launcher and widgets download: http://boekenhuis.net/xperia/xperia_s_home.html
i messed with framework-res.apk and changed out the default wallpaper also
for boot animation, i found an xperia one on google somewhere, cant remember the link off hand
and i replaced some fonts with xperia ones i found through google search (can remember link either).
hope that helps.
The smoothest rom yet!
However, programs sometimes take a long time to load: gmaps, browser, and slacker. I'm assuming these programs expect a faster phone?
I'm not sure, but it seems better than other roms.
yeah some things will be a little bit slow, the pace of android is almost starting to leave us in the dust.
glad you like this rom, and when i get a chance ill update it to cm7.2 final and reupload
Giving this Rom a go. Install and boot went well. Pretty fast 1st boot up. Started up the Market and took two or three times to get to initial screen. Been searching for a couple apps but it seems to stick in loading cycle, and rebooted a couple times but still struggling to find any apps from search as they continue to stick in Loading. Appears to be quick and responsive with touch and movement so far. OK after about five minutes the app Titanium Backup finally came up.
hey cheyennemtn,
glad you like it. those market screwups could have been the market updating, as the gapps usually offered are not exactly bleeding edge.
for titanium backup, i dont personally use it so i can attest to the speed or lack therof on hexperiac, but it could be due to the fact that the heroc is getting older by the day and many programmers are leaving us in the dust left and right.
thanks for testing! if you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know. im gonna update this when i get a chance to cm7.2 final, so that might make things move a little smoother also.
Cool
Finally installed gapps!
Great Rom
Anyone who stills owns the Hero has to try this Rom. Extremely smooth once everything warms up. Use it with V6 supercharger and it is awesome for a device that is as old as ours.
as a wifi enabled device only
i love going back to the Hero and checking out new ROMs. good work on this one, fun! i primarily use it in airplane mode (with wifi on).
i'm kind of surprised no one has put out (that i've seen) a ROM that removes the radio, dialer and messaging apps. i wonder if i could remove the apps with titanium without screwing things up. no big deal but it would be nice to not see the No Service message.
