nah, porting is possible...
just... it'll be a big waste of time and effort. Can't really see anything the Evo3D has over the Optimus3D.

What is it that you want out of the EVO 3D ROM? Sense? Gingerbread?
Sent from my PG41200 using xda premium

just to tell you, the Evo3D 3D camera is terrible. Well, not terrible, just... the 3D effect isn't as good as the Optimus3D. I've had a friend who took a 3D picture of me in 3D with flash and I took of him in 3D without flash. Both agreed that my picture was much better. And I tested out his 3D flash in a dark place. Trust me, it's not that good. When its light, Optimus3D has better 3D pictures. When its dark... the flash in the evo3D gives some light, but 3D effect is much much less too.
What I'm saying is, I wouldn't give up the excellent 3D image technology that LG has just for a tiny not useful brief of light from the Evo3D. Truthfully, the tiny flash isn't too helpful for the 3D. If you really want to take 3D pics in a DARK place, better to carry one of those huge and super powerful flashlights.
Sensation? Sense right? I was saying before how sense wasn't worth the time and effort to port. My reason is because, although its nice to look at, it also does drain more battery and takes up a lot of memory. Most of the people I know with Sense ended up switching to another launcher just days after using it. I'll admit that Sense looks BEAUTIFUL!!! But, after looking at it for a while, even pretty eyecandy gets tiring. The friend who had a Evo3D was very happy with Sense. However, he didn't feel anything special about it after about 3 days. I should also say that he quickly switched to Go Launcher EX after I showed him the Sphere transition effect in the app drawer. He hasn't regretted not using Sense yet. Don't think he will.
Porting a rom is possible, but a very long and complicated process. There's compatibility and stability issues to look at and fix. Its not worth the effort to do it especially when you think about how it'll be a never ending battle with bugfixes.
Personally, if you're just after gingerbread best to wait for LG to do it. People has waited this long, they can wait a bit longer. They've first announced the update to be in September I believe and then they announced that they'll delay it till this month or possibly next month for testing purposes. Just keep waiting, at least they tell you the reason its being delayed. Better than them just delaying the update for no reason. At the moment you know Gingerbread is almost here, but they're just at the stage where they want to make it as stable and bugfree before release. Personally, I feel that's much better than releasing some halfassed rom that has more problems than you can report. I'm sure some of you have been there. Haste makes waste right?
The testing stage for a product typically takes a long time. Some people spend months to test something before they release it. Its not like they can just develop something, throw it onto a phone, use it once then release it.
So, for those who are too impatient for the soon to come gingerbread release, my advice is just wait a bit more patiently. The more you rush them, the more unstable the release might be. Though, I believe most people are just upset due to an inferiority complex. Don't like to see that other people are getting a newer version of Android while their own is prehistoric. Don't worry too much about that, not like you'll always have the best and latest.
I agree to @DevJackey
moving from HTC Sense to other UI , it may take 2-3 days to adjust!
I am alive evidence of both HTC 3D EVO & LG-920 & LG-SU760 (special edition of LG 3D for SK Telecoms)
after several hours and capturing few pictures , I rushed back to shopkeeper to return the set and got back the LG 3D from him...Thanks God , I already experienced LG else could thought HTC EVE 3D is reality as best and this is how 3D works ... hehehehehehehe
LG works good even in room light. I think it just software issue and LG will release something to trigger FLASH in 3D. So better to wait for while , if LG will not do it , I am sure our XDA Developers are wonderful guys
First decide, What you want from 3D ?, 3D experience or UI (sense) + 3D Flash (and how many pictures you capture in dark)?
And don't forget the Real3D framework from LG. If you port the Evo 3D ROM you gain Sense and GB, but you lose Real3D, so no 3D app from LG will work on that ROM.
Thanks for your advice and also I say dark I Meen with my bed side lamp on but it just looks orange and grainy but I took a 2d image in the same lighting with flash and it was so much clearer
If your saying sense isn't that great can you maybesuggest a loader that uses little memory but Is sexy n smooth atm im using ice cream sandwich loader thanks

I suggest Go Launcher EX.
Wish I used it before I bought LauncherPro and ADW, but I guess the money's gone to a good cause.
Go Launcher is free. It's light. Its smooth. Its sexy.
A lot of themes on the market. Has its own Go Launcher Widgets that are pretty good.
Lots of customizations for the appearance.
Lots of beautiful transitions in both the homescreen and the app drawer. What stole my heart was the Sphere transition effect in the App Drawer when its in Horizontal Loop mode.
You could have folders support inside the app drawer and delete apps straight from it. There's a feature borrowed from iPhone where you can create folders and then drag apps and drop them onto those folders. Cool part is the app drawer transitions work inside the folders too.
Go give it a try, play with some settings, download a few themes, fall in love, have a happy romance, and enjoy the good life.
Since its free, no reason not to try right?
I think maybe I should work part-time as a App Promoter.

Home Panel. Its the panel that has the most widgets I guess... You can definitely see how the theme is.
App Drawer. Looks nice in the App Drawer too.
Fav Transition. Yup my personal favorite transition effect of Go Launcher is the Sphere.
Just incase you were wondering how come I have empty spots in my home panel...

I've never personally used MIUI but from what I have read people either love it or hate it. Why do you want it so much? What are the benefits?
its AOSP and the UI is different from the android we are used to here in the US. Even if you use a different launcher. Lots of extra features and customization to be done also.

I've used it.. and loved it on my G2. It's android with the iPhone polish man. Lots of great eye candy, downloadable boot animations themes, wallpapers, ringtones, notifications, etc... all built in. a GREAT task management/settings/net traffic tracker... built in.
I would suggest you give it a shot when it comes out. TONS of features.
Here's what i boils down to"
If you like a smooth clean polished and highly customizable UI (a lot of the work done for you.. it eliminated my need for quite a few apps I use for system management)... you'll like this.
if you want to run a stock vanilla form of android that allows YOU to do all of the tweaking and enjoy adb pushes and coding... run CM7 (which is also a FANTASTIC option)
I personally liked how aesthetically pleasing miui is. But I bought an android device to run android os not ios ;-)
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I know BUT ios is polished so is miui. It's the best of both worlds
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Right.. that's my point. it doesn't LOOK like iOS.. but i don't think ANYONE would argue that iOS has a lot more "love in the UI details" (ie... POLISH.. it's nice looking and consistently so). While android.. is definitely a hacker/programmers UI. VERY tweakable and functional.. just not that nice looking.
the resemblance it iOS is really peoples only objection to MIUI but the fact is that's only the default launcher. change the launcher and its no longer an issue.
Really?!? people think it looks like iOS?!? why because they're no app drawer? that's literally the only thing I can think of that's like iOS that isn't part of android anyway. (they both have dockable apps at the bottom, they both have a status bar with signal/time/date/etc). otherwise.. it's just Android with some UI love (polish). that's IT.. and like you said.. you can change the launcher.. but i don't see a reason to.
True. The only other thing is the way they changes the ticking system to the tab system. That's all i can think of.

But there are themes. If you really hate iPhone you can still live with miui.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I'm quite aware of that. I'm pro-MIUI.. Had it on my Vibrant since it was released for the phone. I was just saying the default theme is what turns people off of the ROM upon first glance.
There are lots of benefits to MIUI. For starters it usually runs VERY fast. It was the first rom to include toggles in the notification menu (CM7 does this now too). Also the menu's are no longer 6 squares, but listed. The whole OS is themable (CM7 is now too).
I am not particularly fond of the homescreen setup (No App Drawer) because all of your apps are on your desktop like iOS. The stock launcher is basically the same as iOS except you can put icons anywhere and supports widgets.
The Icons are very pretty and large, which I like.
You can accomplish most of this by using CM7, a good CM7 theme, and ADW EX with a MIUI theme.
I'm all about more custom roms. I enjoyed MIUI for a few days but damn CM7 nightlies always have me going back to try out the new features.
MIUI is a lot more than a simple skin. As others have said, its blazing fast, has amazing features built in (I really like being able to control all of my connections by the dropdown bar and even being able to reboot and such through the same bar) and is extremely polished.
The availability of themes can make it decidedly un-iOS very easily. The customization options built into the ROM are absolutely insane and I have it on my Inspire as well as my Captivate - I really hope someone picks it up and ports it to the G2x.
In comparison to most other devices, development on the G2x seems to be pretty slow overall which is a huge bummer. I guess too many people are busy constantly exchanging their devices to actually get cracking on development. *eye roll*
Hi Customization freeks! Howdidoo?
It’s quite long we are waiting for MIUI to be ported to our fav SGT. But seem’s like things are pretty slow. So, there is something I come across the market to fill in the GAP.
Yes, It’s again a Chinese Theme based application works pretty well on upto 4.3” screens but do not disappoints the 7 incher either.
I wonder how XDA Developer.com did not focus on this application. Here’s the market link.
https://market.android.com/search?q=sskin+butterfly&so=1&c=apps
The previews of the themes are in Chinese but when you apply the themes, they adopt the system language. Well, I really don’t know for the other languages but yes for the English. At least 15 themes are free and there is no sign anywhere on the net that, someone must have uploaded the paid themes. I guess this application is new and will do wonders gradually.
Apart from this, I would like to suggest few more fancy applications which you guys must be well aware of for those who are not, try them.
Go Keyboard,
Go Contact’s,
Go Weather,
Battery widget viewer,
Circle Launcher.
I hope this will keep you busy until MIUI pops up

It's slow, and the customization options that you have is even less than Zeam. You can't even set it to have more rows x columns in the homescreen, nor can you resize widgets.
And it looks Korean since most of its themes are based on Korean artists.

The first is that I miss having panoramic wallpapers because having stationary live wallpapers kinda looks lame.
The second is that I want to be able to chose the app drawer style. I want to be able to switch between the current one and the individual ones in other versions of android.
What other stuff do you miss from old Sense?
I agree on the panoramic wallpaper, it was way cooler.
not possible since the carrousels keeps turning...the home screens are not stationary so a panaromic wallpaper is a no go

I say screw the carrousel effect. Its lame and serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever. Just another useless piece of eye candy HTC included in this laggy ass version of Sense....Ill tell you what I would like to see. i wish they would make better use of screen real estate.
960x540, and i have less icons/information on the screen than on my old windows mobile - xda diamond...
pretty lame that you have to install 3rd party apps doing a better job at that.
can it be that its android's fault with that crappy 4x4 grid, only increased for tablets?
Man, in the dock, why the hell do I have to endure the Personnalize button? Why can't I replace it with something else? It's a feature I use once a week or so... wtf !

Yeah. Not being able to customize the dock sucks.

I need the ability to customize the size of the widgets I put on the screen and I need to be able to add/remove pages &determinie if "I" want 3/4or 5 icon rows or columns.
Sense is too ridgid an interface for me. Launcherpro is he truth.
Its all been pretty much said, Sense 3 does have some nice eye candy but after 2 weeks I was onto good old Launcher Pro
Setting columns and rows is mint!! I have 5 colums and 8 rows totalling 45 possible icons compared to 20 on Sense 3
It would be great if we had different wallpapers, once for the lockscreen and once for home...
sorry for my bad english
I also go with being able to disable the 3D effect. And making use of the extra real estate.
I want to add a non-feature thing as well... fixing it so it doesn't keep closing and restarting.
Resisable widgets and more rows / columns.

+1 for wallpaper landscape we should have a option. Another one is rosie rotation on unlock kind slow things down. And last news app was better on sense 2.1 more organized.

Miui is based on cyanogen, but is modded to look more ios like.
If you want to mod the hell out of the system itself and like plain beauty, you're good to go with cyanogenmod, if you like to theme the hell out of your system you're good to go with miui.
Swyped from my desire s far away from my pc
Out of the two miui is by far the smoothest. Only problem, as already stated, you become a copycat in a sense. If you're going to go for cyanogenmod, go for reaper. Much faster and much smoother. But it all boils down to choice. Just have a play with both of them
Also one huge problem I have with miui is the lack of an app drawer. Some people don't mind, some prefer it but it annoys the hell out of me. There are solutions for it but none of them are as good as a proper integrated app drawer.
I would show ICS when face unlock is ready
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
Functionally and visually speaking, there is nothing better than MIUI.
But if you're talking about performance, speed and battery life... then CM should do it for you. And i agree with dan_fish, that if you intend to go ahead with CM, get Reaper. It is superior to plain CM7
Just shut him up by changing to a different rom everyday
For that, i recommend Sense 3.5 (Endymion). My friend with an iPhone 4 is stunned when he sees the weather lockscreen, flip-clock, and 3D homescreen effects
BTW, AquaSheep's idea is good too
I recommend CM7 or Endymion.
I'm a bit uncertain about MIUI
After using it for a while, I was getting constant abuse of my mates to just 'get a bloody iphone'
MIUI is very similiar to iOS.
Then again, I was using a iOS theme on MIUI
And the experience on it is actually like 90% realistic! !
Literally every aspect of the ROM is themed.
