ICS - Motorola Atrix 2

I figured that would get everyones attention.
Please stop posting new threads asking for an ICS rom, or why there are not ICS roms or when is ICS going to be updated for this phone, etc...
This is happening way too much right now, and we are spending so much time answering this same question over and over. It takes time from helping with other issues or looking for the things we need to get other hacks completed.
Once we have the pieces to the ICS puzzle that we need to get an ICS ROM out to everyone, we will post it, but until then just hang tight and stop worrying so much about weather Motorola will or will not update this phone with ICS...
I promise, as soon as lfaber06 and I get what is needed we will have ICS ROMs flowing, but until then, please enjoy the ROMs that are posted in the dev section and stop sweating ICS so much.
Now go have some hacking fun.
P.S. here is the link to the CM9 based off of ICS, for this phone, it is still alpha since we can't find a working phone with ICS and our radio to use, to get it off the ground, but that is one of the puzzles I mentioned earlier.

New to Captivate ROM suggestions

Good morning folks, as the title says, new to Captivate. Any ROM's that folks would recommend. Currently running 2.2.
I"m going to set this up for my son for Christmas and want it to rock. Using Simple Mobile. Are there any known issues with carriers other than AT&T? Thanks for any input. I appreciate it. Time to root this new toy
get ready for bashing...this is Dev section.,...read the rules before posting...
I would recommend all the roms in dev section, as they all are really good.
Next time ask questions in Q and A section.
read the new user guide and watch the video, then hang your head in shame.
DO NOT POST IN DEVELOPMENT UNLESS YOU ARE DEVELOPING!
People don't like when you ask which ROM is best, this is a general nono in the world of XDA. The best thing to do is just do a lot of reading and make the decision for yourself. This way you will have learned a lot of interesting things, and the devs will be happy as well. Hopefully not too many people completely tear you apart for this thread... If you read enough you will find what you are looking for. Good luck.
honestly though, ive just been using the latest leaked stock roms, rooting, removing bloat, and adding modified kernel and running ext4. been beyond happy
Anything from The Collective is excellent, but thats just my opinion.
Cyanogenmod is probably the most popular, a good choice as well
In before lock...
This is akin to going to a sports forum and asking "which team is the best?". It tends to just start a flamewar.
Granted, I think there are things that do differentiate some ROMs over others, and give them advantages... some people might argue it comes down to preference/priorities though. My priorities were:
- HSUPA (eliminating all I897 "stock" ROMs)
- Simple/stock-ish theme (eliminating a ton of other ROMs)
- Stability/reliability
For that reason, I've been running Apex for a while. Before that I was a fan of DesignGears' Captivate ROMs but he's moved on to other devices.
While there are people running early alpha/beta releases of Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich" (ICS) ROMs as daily drivers, the ROMs still are a bit too quirky for my tastes so I'll wait a bit longer.
Well this is the Dev section as others have mentioned...but I know how confusing it is to get lost in this vast sea of roms...so I will tell you what I felt the best ROM...well apex 11.1 is the best in my point of view
I go bake a batch of Christmas cookies and y'all have a field day in Development - moved to general and closed.

[Q] *New User* How to get Gingerbread on Samsung Infuse

Hello all, I'm new to Android, with my new Infuse 4g.
I was disappointed to find out that this phone still has froyo, even though ICS is out. Can I please get some Gingerbread?!
I know this is probably out there somewhere but I've been on this site for about an hour now and I haven't gotten the hang of navigating through it properly yet. If someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction, so that I'd be able to hack/root gingerbread onto my phone, that'd be lovely. I already found out how to root it, with SuperOneClick. I just need to figure out how to get gingerbread mod.
Again I'm completely new to android and I don't know the terminology. So please be kind.
Thanks ahead of time.
EDIT: I have an AT&T samsung infuse that is unlocked, but I use T-mobile for my cellular service. (If that matters)
First...go to the development section
Sent from a phone.
thanks
Herp-a-derp
That would be a good start. Thanks!
Welcome to Android and XDA!
Try THIS thread out first, its got a lot of useful information, in fact, it's my obligatory "noob" post for new users lol. (Pay special attention to the ClockWorkMod or CWM part, that'll be your best friend.)
The Infuse was my first android phone too, and I loved it. When you do get to the point where your ready to install a Gingerbread rom, check THIS one out. It's not the most current rom out right now, but the developer has some killer instructions to get you started. If you mess up, there are plenty of ways to get you back to normal.
Once you've got that up and running, you can head back to the development section and try out Revelation Rom or Zeus Rom (both great and up to date Roms)
Last but not least, the "thanks" button is a good way to show your appreciation for ppl that have helped you out, it's down there VVVV
Sorry...did not mean to post that. Was going to write up a long post then had to take my son to the bathroom. Thought I backed out....posted instead.
I think it was covered in the post below mine.
My advice...read, read, read. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Just best to do so in the Q&A. And try all the roms out. All are supported by great developers. Try them all...then find a home.
Sent from a phone.
try this man
Try this bible link below for the infused. worked perfectly for me.

[Q] Superlite or Sky ICS (the real thing)

These two ROMs, Superlite and Sky ICS seem to be the best alternatives for moving my Skyrocket to ICS. I'm not going to ask which to install, I know what you will tell me..…try them both.
I'm hoping I can get some opinion as to which is more stable, more likely to install well over my configuration without problems, which is being developed more regularly, which has more known bugs, stuff like that, battery life.
I have a 727R, that's the Rogers Skyrocket, with the latest CWM, the faux kernel, 2.6.35.14, v10m. The radio is i727UCLA3, and the ROM is UCLA3_2.3.6_rom.
I want to install with a ZIP file, without the leaked ICS via ODIN. Not sure if this matters.
So grateful to any advice.

They are both being developed regularly. Read through the threads and you will see development, bugs, and progression.
there are 100's of pages of threads from different periods in their respective developments. It's hard to keep straight what's old and what's current.
I'm looking for help, the same as I would give you if you asked. so please xcrazydx, if you have nothing of value to offer it's better you just don't waste your valuable time replying.
Its easy to try them out yourself. Everyone is different. Flash one, run it for a few days then flash the other.
PS. Don't be a jerk, and just go read for yourself. We don't owe you anything. Quit being lazy!!

Not as simple as you think. Over the last 2 weeks since the leak, there has been talk of Rogers not working, or having to install the leak first with Odin and then install a ZIP rom. Also worried about the radio with Rogers, I've heard problems with that.
So I'm nervous, and I'm looking for some help. No, you don't owe me anything. I try to help people here who I don't owe anything. It's just the decent thing to do. It's why we have discussion forums with places for questions. And how is it lazy by asking people to share experiences? Jeez, this place is turning ugly. Try to remember when you were new here.
The whole thing about it is, if you don't do the reading, you will most likely end up writing repeat questions because you didn't feel like doing the reading to fix any little issues you may have with a ROM. Reading first is like getting free experience.

You asked about 2 specific roms. If you don't have the time to read through some posts you shouldn't be here and you shouldn't be flashing anything at all. I help people all the time, but this is something you must do on your own. No reading = you asking stupid questions that have already been answered multiple times.
I gave you a courteous answer and explained they are both worked on regularly by the devs.
Which is not what I asked. Why don't you go away. I can say for certain you've turned me off this forum.
Jeff, I have read both threads completely. I don't understand why I can't ask a simple question here about experience with Rogers phones on these two ROMs coming from Gingerbread just to get confirmation that there are no major issues which were first reported when the leak came out.
And I don't understand why people who don't want to answer, feel they have to come her and criticize.
Didn't even ask about smooth ice by rem... Which i think is super awesome too... The long and short is this, all the roms are built from same base so not really any huge differences

I can give you my opinion if that would help. I had less problems with sky ics. None are perfect. But both are better than stock.

I can say for certain that you are lazy, rude, and incompetent.
Right back at you.
LTE service no longer working
I have changed the apn settings to lteinternet.apn and nothing happens. im on the new release from the real thing
Everyone has told you the same thing, read the thread. I even answered your question about which ones were being developed regularly. I don't know what your problem is. Other people called you lazy and a jerk, yet you lashed out at me and I did nothing but try to help you.

Hahaha, I tried to help. Without reading the threads of the roms in question one cannot make an educated decision on which one is best for your needs. I even answered one of his questions. I don't get what his problem with me is.
If u want an opinion. Sky ICS. Then remove more Bloat if you want and make it more "super lite" my "opinion" is Sean updates more often and listens what people want. But it is so easy to just flash both and give both roms a try and see what "you" think is better.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Both roms are based off the same ics leak so in that regard they are equally stable. Just install the from that has more of the features u want, because from a majority perspective both have been well received
I can't comment on Sky ICS but I've been using Superlite 5.0 for a while now and I'm very satisfied with it. It's very stable and relatively bugless for me. But to repeat what others have said, it's really down to personal preference. Both roms come from the same source, therefore stability wise there isn't going to be a major difference. If it helps, I used both sean and mhx's GB roms, and I preferred the latter, which was a big part of why I went with ICS Superlite in the first place.

[Q] Should I release it?

I've ported JoyOS(unfortunately their site was down last I checked so no more updates on their end), it has a CM7.2 base. Its seems to be completely stable. Please keep in mind I've tried a few other times, this has only been because i wanted to make my own ROM for my personal use. I am by no means to the caliber of development or debugging as some of the awesome groups Ive seen over the past year. And I am trying to learn as quickly as possible about the in's and out's (coding, build prop edits, troubleshooting the whole nine as it were to keeping a rom up and stable).
So with that said, I would like to put out the port on the development forums, but am kinda weary as I am new to doing this, I may not be able to solve or answer all questions. Should I release it with what i have, keep learning, and simply state that in my intro? I saw one release of this port a long time ago, SeaPathJoyOS was the name I believe, liked it so much, that after it was stopped on dev, I made my own.
any feed back would be awesome, thanks in advance.

Has everything slowed because of 4.2?

Hello,
I know this is a question and possibly wrong section under the iron fist but it is directly about dev so hey thought I would ask the question must people are probably pondering over.
It has been a month almost since the last EOS 3 build and others have slowed as well.
I hope this is due to 4.2 and concentration has moved from 4.1.2 to 4.2 but I have a horrible niggle the tf101 is starting to lose focus from the devs.
Fingers crossed thought I would just throw it out there.
Cheers
Ya questions never go in DEV so this will get deleted or moved pretty quickly. And it is a pretty old device so its understandable that development has slowed. It would make sense that EOS and CM have slowed due to 4.2 but i havent seen anything confirming it
