Check your Gmail Contacts to see if they are still there. If so you may be able to re-sync them with your device.

Hi all,
Since yesterday, I can't sync Gmail, I cant actually download from the market (although I can initiate), and I cant open Google Talk (it opens for a split second then closes, no force quit or error messages at all). I have searched for a solution all morning. I have tried going to google and google storage in applications and clearing cache/data to no help. I even went back to a nandroid from 2 weeks ago, no help there either. The only thing I have done is accidently change my password online from a PC. I changed it back 5 minutes later to the original (which is the one the phone uses). I am using Fresh 2.0D. PS yes I wiped when I went back to an old nandroid backup...Yes my sync settings are correct....
Please help!!!
format c: its your only option now... Sorry mang...

So even though you changed the password back to the original, did you redo the password on the phone? It would be weird if even though they are the same "string" they were still different on a database level somewhere. Depending on how it's done, the password checking that is, it could be possible that old string != new string even though string = string.... you know what I mean?
I would try to redo the google setup from square 1. not sure how you go about that other than resetting the phone.
Well, I had gone back to the nandroid from 2 weeks prior. I also did a "factory reset" which runs you thru the whole google thing and makes you put your pwd again etc...so that was no go...
only thing i havent done (not that it should make a difference although I will try it in a bit) is to do a fresh 2.0d from scratch install, although i doubt this will do anything since the ohter 2 options didnt work..

Format C? Are you saying to wipe? Tried that no luck..
Well, a fresh install of fresh 2.0d did the trick so some file must have been corrupted I can only assume... Thank God for Titanium Backup restored all my backed up apps and not much time lost. Thanks for your help.

lol he was pullin your chain.
but really, if you see something on your computer in C:\WINDOWS\
and its like a folder called "system32".... thats a virus. you should get rid of it because C:\WINDOWS\system is already there.
Edit: ok... don't do this. I lied
I need help. I was running CM7 and decided i was going to try the "whiskey" rom. i wiped everything restored and everything works great. Then I try to restore data only from my backup and each time i do this i get the error saying "application is not installed" when i click on my phone. I can send and recieve messages but cannot access the phone, dialer, contacts or nothing. Also google will not sync with my contacts. Mail and facebook sync still work and everything else is restored fine from my backup. Any ideas???
I wanted to get my wife's phone current and on CM7 (she was still on a rooted froyo), so I did a backup via cwm, flashed a stock rom, flashed stock recovery, unrooted. Then I did a LGUpdater update (worked fine :O), then flashed cwm and cm7.
Somewhere along the way, her contacts were lost, and for some reason, weren't all on her google contacts list. There are only 57 contacts on her google contact list, but she had many more than that. So, I went and reloaded the froyo backup from before unrooting and upgrading (did a factory reset too), but it still required me to re-sync with google and only retrieved the contacts that are on her google.com/contacts list.
Is there anyway I can get into the froyo backup and retrieve her complete set of contacts? I thought that they'd come back when I restored that backup, but asked me to re-enter her gmail and password (like it was starting fresh).
I don't know how she got into a state where her contacts weren't syncing with google, but I imported the contacts from the SIM card incase she was somehow saving them there, but that didn't get them.
Any recommendations? Another way to get the contacts by going into the rooted froyo backup itself, or perhaps a way to reflash that backup and have it "remember" the contacts?
Iv searched for this problem , couldnt find it with anyone else , Whatsapp keeps not respoding and then giving me the error , contacts are not showing in the phone app , i can only see a blank page , not even strange numbers , i need to extract the contacts before i do a factory reset , how can i do that? and how can i MAKE SURE that i got them backed up ?

can you use an app from play store to backup your contacts?
There is a backup called super backup. It backs up sms and contacts. Problem is if you don't have access to your contacts how will you back them up? They are usually restored through your google account. When setting up your Rom, make sure you have restore account checked.maybe this might help.

Thanks , my problem got solved , but now facing a new problem , lol
I need help for this problem, I installed some mod for the Contacts that looks like Z1 somewhere in the forum, then when I rebooted my tipo dual the Phone icon is gone so I restored the backup apk from the stock phone/contacts after wiping cache and dalvik, I rebooted. After that when I opened the Phone and Contacts there is no contacts left, Is there any way that I can recover those contacts?? when I opened my messaging app the numbers are still there but the contact names are not.... please help me, and also whre might the android store the contacts numbers and names???
does anybody know where android stores contact names and contact numbers?? so I can backup them w/o the use of any apps
FIXED
okay, I fized it by myself, just searched for the Nandroid backup mine. I found out that the files/contacts are in "data/data/com.android.providers.contacts" I just recopied it from my old nandroid backup and Fixed the permissions using TWRP,
