[Q] Accidentally pressed "simlock" in hboot - help!! - General Questions and Answers

While navigating the hboot menus on my HTC Desire S, 2.3.5 Stock, Sense 3.0, I accidentaly pressed "simlock|"
It reported:
FAT32 init OK
Open MCCMNC file fail
Open CID file fail
It has definitely messed something up: my phone boots, accepts my SIM pin, unlocks my SIM, displays my Mobile Provider as one of the network options to connect to, but fails to register with the network every time.
So it doesn't mention that the phone is locked, or ask me to enter an unlock code or anything... but the sim that was previously working is now not working at all...
Any ideas? Will an RUU or anything get my phone back to a working unlocked state?

First of all I would try this: remove SIM card, SD card and battery (everything actually), put them back and reboot the phone to see what happen.
As the last resort, If you don't mind reinstall all your apps and data (it will erase everything), you could simply execute and hard reset:
http://www.knowyourcell.com/htc/htc...77971/how_to_hard_reset_the_htc_desire_s.html

Thanks - did that - but no luck - the phone totally reverted to factory settings, but the SIM is still not registering on the network... it seems a change has taken place at an even lower level...

The error that you wrote gives you "fail". Doesn't look like it has been done something to the phone.
Do you have any other option in hboot?
How about turn off the radio a couple of times (airplane mode) then reboot?
I found this by the way:
http://www.simonjstuart.com/2011/05...not-allow-a-connection-to-this-network-error/
I remember I solve it by playing with airplane mode and turn off the phone few times, with my friend Desire S.

It definitely did something - for 4 hours, no ability to get onto mobile network. Seems it mayt have actually modified the SIM card. I managed to get it working again - I put the SIM in another phone, booted, and then put it back in my phone and it's working again - do you think that's possibly what fixed it?

Could it be.. you never know..
That's interesting thus, looks like the SIM card got somehow "resetted" by the other phone.
I'll keep this in mind for the future.

[Q] Stuck in Airplane Mod

Hey guys, today I installed a new game and started it and came to the screen where you download game files and got "No Wi-Fi Connection"
Then I pressed the home button but my phone froze so after waiting some minutes I took out the battery and booted it.
Since then its in the Airplane Mode and nothing will turn it off..
I wiped dalvik, data, even flashed a new ROM but NOTHING.
Then I took the SIM from a different phone and the airplane mode was turned off and everything worked.
So what you guys think the problem is ?
I mean a game cant mess up my SIM Card right ?
It's possible that the game messed up a setting on the phone that lead to a SIM card defect.
Tried the SIM card in another phone?
a) If it's working, try reinserting into your phone and booting again. Sometimes it's just the swapping fixing your SIM again (registering to a new phone with the carrier)
b) If it's not working, I'd exchange the SIM.
a2) In case a) didn't fix it: factory reset, battery pull for 30mins, in case those two fail as well --> b).
Nothing worked :/
I guess I got to change it

[Q] Xperia J locked in Emergency mode- but an unusual tale maybe Mission Impossible

Hi all,
I will be eternally grateful for your help but I am not holding much hope.
I got this new phone from my operator Three in the UK back in January this year.
All works ok except for the screen calibration which I did not get round to fix.
On Monday I decided to put a pin lock on my phone, as I haven't been using
the pin lock for a few years now. I chose the pin code, then I stupidly tried
"Lock Sim". Then the screen came up with sim locked, PUK needed.
I did not make even one attempt with the PUK code as I decided to phone
my operator for it. We went through the procedure, he gave me the PUK
code and we managed to unlock the sim card and then I remember the
pin code (as I always have) and inputted it and the phone is unpinned.
I need to mention that we did have one or two bad attempts where
I couldn't hear the technical guy too well and I did enter the wrong pin
once or twice, but less than the 3 attempts limit and we did have to
take the battery out 3-4 times due to this and also because
I kept putting the sim card the wrong way round being very careless.
The sim is unlocked but on the screen it is "no service" emergency
calls only, where if you choose the emergency option green button
it will give you a menu and * # . I can see some symbols on the top
such as wifi connected. If I call this mobile phone I can pick up
the call, the screen has the usual answer or reject phone symbol on.
But during and after the call pressing the home/back/menu button
on the phone (off the screen ) have no effect. I told the technical
guy about this. He suggested a new sim but if I put my old sim
in my other three pre-smartphones phones it works. However
this phone is tied to this sim card/phone number only as I try
my other sims on it and they do not work.
I have tried a few things:
the 7378423 thing with all the right *#, doesn't work. but 06 works to get IMEI
cannot enter fastboot mode holding down the volume up button and plugging
USB in, but can enter flash mode.
I do not want to lose data as I have some important data which I haven't
backup to my sin so I don't want to use PCC or SUS to install either
the current OS (I think it is ICE cream 4.04 ish) or the new jelly bean.
To complicate matters my phone is not USB debugged enabled so I
cannot use software to do a quick backup of my phone I tried
mobile me from wonderware(?) and its needs usb debugging.
PC companion doesn't have restore and backup anymore, or at least
not for xperia J as the Sony support guy told me, if it does it probably
needs debugging enabled.
Talked to Sony support, he said the only way is to use PCC to reinstall
software and I will lose data as expected. I asked him if Experia J
and the newer Xperia phones have disabled the 7378432 service
code and if there is a new one which he can tell me. He says there
are no new codes.
The phone is not totally now working, I managed to get into "safe mode".
I wonder if the phone actually is rooted or has bootloader unlocked I
read if that is the case it may explain why the 7378432 does not work
as it only works on sony stock rom. But then I came across other people
whose phones may not be bootloader unlocked and this code does not work.
I also came across people who cannot get into fastboot mode.
Maybe because my batch of xperia J, together with customisation by
my phone operator has disabled 7378432 and fastboot which I don't thin
so as Sony themselves mentioned the use of these two important
elements in their unofficial but be warned section on unlocking the
bootloader. I wonder when I took out the battery a few times when
I spoke to the technical guy my phone is locked due to security but
as I said before the PUK code was entered correctly first time round
if not second time round, so is the pin, We just took the battery out
and retried about 2 times as my sim was in the wrong way round.
Finally my apologies for the long post, the phone still has my wallpaper
on it and the error message I used to get from an app (telling me the
app is not working) when I turned on the phone. If the phone was
flashed/rooted then it was not done by me, it might have been done
by a previous owner and then returned to the operator within 14 days
and then my supposedly new phone is this rooted phone. Without
usb debugging enabled its hard to go into recovery mode via
usb link/flashrom/boot etc? But if we know which rom we can
try to go into recovery mode without a usb link by pressing a few buttons?
At the end if I have enough money which I don't sadly someone at sony
can probably take the phone out and do some high level fixing, as long
as the memory is still in tact which I hope it is. For some reason the
phone is locked in this emergency calls only mode. I have not made
any attempts to root it etc before Monday and no attempts to root it.
I just thought the 7378432 can "unlock" a phone lock like the much
discussed xperia Z - if the phone is on a pin/pattern lock etc.
My attempt to go into fastboot mode is to hope that by getting in
and getting out of it the phone will reverse back to normal. My situation
is mainly complicated by that I really want not to lose the data, sms
particularly when we try to unlock/unfreeze the phone.
Extremely sorry for the long post, if anyone can help I will be
most most grateful, bye for now.

Suddenly No service some time after root

So got this shiny new phone and decide to root it for adblock etc.
The root went fine, I used the Xperia-L root zip not the chop--- something. So a while after that, maybe a day or two suddenly I get a No Service.
I went into Settings-Mobile Networks and try to choose the network manually, I couldn't, I can move through Auto and Manual but when I select Manual it always goes back to Automatic. Can you guys confirm that that settings doesn't work? Can you choose Manual instead of Automatic?
Then the phone scanned for available networks and it found my home network relatively easy...
NOW selecting my home network gives me the error "Could not join network right now. Please try again later"(or something like that). A minute after that a toast message pops up "Registered on Network" but I still get no service...
Anyone have any idea? I thought Sony phones are root friendly with them sponsoring CM and all....
I have tried everything. Unlock, relock bootloader, restored TA...flashed stock firmware....taking the sim card out while power is still on and inserting it again.....
So frustrating, thanks for any insight....:fingers-crossed:
It happened with me..
What I did is,
Switched off the phone
Removed SIM card
Restarted phone
Again switch it off
Inserted the SIM card
Restarted the phone..
It worked!

[Q] Sim card not recognized - Stuck in flight mode

Hi guys, this is my first post on this forum.
I have a problem that is making me CRAZY. I will try to explain to you, and I will be sorry for my english (I am Italian).
I have 1+1 since two weeks, I had unlock bootloader, TWRP recovery, stock rom 38R and rooted.
Yesterday I lost my SIM card signal, so I rebooted my device. No sim card PIN asked to me, no signal again.
I've tried to make a phone call and an alert told me "To make a call disable flight mode".. but I don't have flight mode activated!
I have tried with my girlfriend's sim card, same thing.. no pin required, no signal.
I've tried anything.. wipe cache, dalvik, total, re-flashed rom (I have used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/rom-stock-rooted-4-4-4-xnph38r-t2898098)
I don't kwow what to do..
More info:
I have my IMEI, I've read something about losing the IMEI code, but it's not my case.
Thank you.
I know that you have reflashed and everything , but could you try this once ?

not tried this solution, do you think it can helps?
someone? please..
Stupid question, do you actually have the SIM in the right way? It's very easy to put it in the wrong way on this phone.

I am sure...
opo doesn't say to me "no sim", he tells me that I have to disable flight mode to have a call..!
I have tried anything

Did you try the "stock " thing i had posted above ? Doesnt hurt to try as it is a 5 minutes job..you just have to double click the batch file
in your case that would be the firts thing i would have tried..
I did. I've made my 1+1 back to stock with One Toolkit, with 33r. Nothing happens.

This.
When I got a new sim at AT&T, the guy was telling me how he's seen a handful of OPO and none of them work on this network. Sure enough, he puts in a new sim and it doesn't work. Then he starts playing with mobile settings etc. After a few minutes I ripped the phone out of his hand, eject the sim and discovered he had it backwards. Worked fine after that.
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
yeah, ok, but my sim card is in the right way.
When i open and close sim slot it ask me for the pin.
And then... nothing.
no one? please!

I have the same problem
Mine has a ROM stock, I didn't changed anything from when I received it.
Today I decided to have a lock screen with a pin code (because I must have a pin code on the lock screen to allowed reading my job emails via MS Exchange).
After defining it, I rebooted my smartphone but it does not ask me for the mobile pin (the one I just defined), it does not ask me the SIM pin code, and it displayed the normal screen (with all of my widgets and shortcuts).
Because I didn't enter a SIM pin code, the network could not be found
I removed the screen lock protection, but the SIM pin code is still never asked, so I cannot send or receive any call.
The only way I found is to remove and reinsert the SIM card while the mobile is powered on.
So, there is 2 problems:
The SIM pin code is never asked
The lock screen is never displayed

Huawei 5c - locked out wanting PIN1

Hi
First time here - bear with me.
I have a rooted Huawei 5c that I'm locked out of. It requires 'SIM1 - PIN1' which AFSAK I never created. Normally one gets three attempts and then you have to input PUK(which I have); that I'm aware of. The thing is, it's not responding to 'three attempts', it just does nothing after numerous attempts.
A bit of background.
This whole issue began when I put a PAYG sim in the second sim slot. When I booted back up it required 'SIM1 - PIN1' for the phone to start, which I don't have. I removed the second sim and booted into the phone as normal. Went to the security section and this is where potentially the mistake was made. I thought the phone was asking me to enter (read: create) the password for the SIM card, but nope... it already had a default password, and was asking me to enter that. I entered (read: tried to create) a password twice, and BAM... now locked out of the phone, whichever sim is present or both. But this seems nevertheless like a bug. As I mentioned it is not responding to three attempts.
I have access to ADB and the command line, is there anything I can do with that? Any help appreciated, don't tell me I have to reset it
thanks
Cliff
