fix facebook push notifications? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

My Facebook notifications were working on buoyancy but just switched back to sky ics speed 7.4 and can't get Facebook notifications for the life of me. I uninstalled it, cleared it's data, checked it's settings. Pretty much anything I can think of. Any ideas?

Try friendcaster? I switched a few days ago.

Anyone having issues with Handcent?

Iv had my evo for a week now and i used handcent on my samsung moment with no problem but on the evo i noticed that if i dont open a message immediatly the phone will stay awake. (screen will black out but phone is still running) Iv verified this in spare parts. I had over an hour of usage from handcent in partial wake usage.
Does anyone have a solution for this? I love the way handcent work and its layout. Iv checked in handcents settings and nothing should keep the phone from staying awake. my evo is stock with root.
I've been using Handcent since I've had the EVO. Like you I came from the Moment too. I've had no issues.

Official facebook app a battery killer?

Is it just me or does the official facebook app just destroy battery life? I went from a full charge to under 70% in half an hour. Seems like a lot...

Kill an stop all facebook processes and see if you get any improvement. I am also using the latest facebook on my Nexus One but I don't experience a 30% in half an hour.
I have the official facebook app and I am at 50% after light use... I charged it yesterday morning.
Samsung Captivate
Turning off notifications in Facebook solved battery issues on a few friends phones. They stated using push notifications in a recent update, and I get the feeling they are pushing out a lot more than they should be.
The app doesnt have any services that i can see. Even after switching to settings directly using the home button long press, as in not backing out of the facebook app.
Maybe its nothing, just thought id check to see if anyone else had noticed this.
Ill try turning off notifications.

Slow messaging app

Hey, ive noticed that the default messaging app is pretty slow to load or send messages. I even tried handcent and got the same issue. It's like a 2-3 second lag when opening the app or selecting a specific message. Does anyone else have the same issue? Wasn't this bad on my nexus :/
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I use handcent and its almost instant when I send or load messages. I don't like the stock message app so I never really tried with that one.
Do you have a specific setting to make it faster??
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I use Go sms. It is free and pretty fast. The delay could also be happening if you have a lot of messages though. That would slow down any sms app.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
The HTC messaging app had been criticized for having this slow issue before, so nothing new. Just use handcent or similar.
Handcent is instantaneous with send/receive, plus pop up text, can't go wrong.
Thunderbolt «» das BAMF Remix
Just switched to gosms, no lag so far

+1 for GO SMS.

I've had this issue. Actually i've had issues where the entire device gets so slow i have to reboot. This hasn't happened since i changed kernels. I use smartkeyboard pro too, so i reduced the length of time of the haptic feedback and that helped too.
That's why I use go sms.

Gmail unresponsive

Gmail is borked. I can open it but it just flickers. I search the forum but I didn't find anything. I reinstalled it, reflashed gapps, rebooted, and fix permissions but it still won't work. I'm able to receive emails but can't open them or anything. Any ideas for a fix?

My entire Google account has been acting strange lately. Sync has been a little messed up and I can't download from the market. No relevant changes have been made since it last seemed fine two days ago. Did you start noticing problems around then too? I'm not on the same rom as you which leads me to believe it's a Google thing. Dunno though...is your market working?

I'm not too sure exactly when it started because I noticed that my Gmail sync was off. Weird , I never turned it off. I checked it on and received emails. I went to view them and noticed the app behaving weird. I didn't do anything our of the ordinary just use the phone. I'm able to download apps so I'm not sure if it's Google. So yes market works.

Ok so I checked the market comments and seems like I'm not alone. Everyone is posting about the app not working and just flickering.. Think I jumped the gun here ^_^ let's play the waiting game a bit.

Yeah, this looks like a screwup on Google's part not related to any one R0M or anything...
Really hope they get it fixed soon.

Glad I never experienced it, but glad it got resolved as well!
Yeah, it got fixed last night. Would have been nice to have gotten some transparency about what was going on from Google though...

I never had any luck with the gmail app I have always just used the stock email app... dame deal though huge delays, unable to receive mail even after manual refreshes, ect... the black background mod that comes with it makes it look good too if your like me and into the minimal look
Pin it to Win it.
Yeah I like it pretty dark and simple!
I noticed that it's not Gmail... When I hit the airplane mode to disable all antenna's and re-enable it again, it's fine until I reboot my phone. Then I have to do this again if I want to get my email notifications back. The Gmail apps seems to work fine so far for me... But I will try the dark theme for it!
I have EagleBlood AOSP 4.0.4...

Notification LED

Does anyone actually use it? I've had nothing but problems with it. The CM notification manager works for maybe 1-2 notifications and it stops working. Lightflow tends to be the same way unless I restart the app. I loved my notification LED on my nexus. Anyone have any solutions?

I'm running synergy and use it all the time, mainly for text messages, that way i can just look my phone and know if i have a text or not
I find it to be helpful, and use it. Running stock still, works flawlessly.
Works fine, other then GO SMS doesn't blink. Lightflow sucks, ate my battery up when it shouldn't be doing it. I would not have gotten this phone if their wasn't a LED, never would know I was called/texted.

Everything works for me, even Go Sms, when using Light Flow. The dev officially got the ins and outs working awhile back and I can modify my colors and see notifications for all my important apps. I've been using that app (full version) for a few weeks and I haven't had any battery issues with Light Flow.

Me too, will check that out now.

lightflow caused battery issues for me
for about 2 weeks, my phone would not go to sleep as it would always be in partial wakelock.
i used betterbatterystats to get an idea of what was going on, and it pointed out that "alarm manager" was causing the partial wakelock. when i checked out the alarms, lightflow had significantly more alarms running to cause the partial wakelock.
i uninstalled lightflow, and immediately my battery life improved. the difference was huge.
but that was my experience. some people don't have issues with light flow, so give it a try and see how/if it affects you
I had entirely forgotten about lightflow. Used it on my Droid X. But never on my Bionic. Totally forgot I even paid for this app. Thanks for the reminder. Works great. GoSMS by default would mess up the LED color everytime. This makes em proper. Good call. Thanks to you

Light flow was working great for me for a few days last week when I first got it, but since yesterday, it's been keeping my phone awake the entire time and was killing my battery so I uninstalled it. My phone is sleeping normal again. I've just reinstalled it again to see if it'll work normal like before.

Anyone one of you on AOSP? For those on a touchwiz ROM, what settings are you using for light flow to make it work so flawlessly?

Yea, I've heard those issues as well. I was worried about that going into purchasing the app. I'm not sure if it helps but I have Light Flow set for night hours from 12a-7a so might that impact it in keeping my phone asleep? Just a a question I have for those who have tried and noticed battery drain overnight.

light flow looks to work work every time i install it and set it up. but a few hours later there is always lots of problems.
hopefully some day all the kinks are worked out of it...then i'll buy it. but for now it causes too many issues.
