[Q] Team EOS 1.0.0 crash during heavy I/O load - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have installed team eos 1.0.0 on my Xoom mz604. All runs fine, but I ran into one issue. When downloading a large (~2gb) file from my upnp server (using BubbleUPNP or SoftMediaPlayer), the device crashes after a couple of minutes and goes into the boot animation. Here, it stays until I reboot via vol up + pwr.
I have not overclocked the xoom, everything is "stock" eos 1.0.0.
What canI do to debug this?
Regards
Jonas

I download 4-5gb matroskas and no crash so far. Try another upnp client or file manager hd.

Ok, good to know that it's not the file size per se. However I did try two different upnp clients so far and both give this forced reboot. I would expect that an app can only do a force close...

Well, downloading large files via an smb file browser works. Still, I dont think an app should be able to send the xoom into reset...

Working WiFi App for 2.2

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering currently I have tested out the Wireless Tether app and its not working for me. I have tried it with or with out access control and neither works. I was wondering if anyone know of an app that works with 2.2 or some changes that need to be made to get it working.
Thanks!
yeah i had that problem too... but the following worked for me with access control on or off and ssd name changed.
1. install this one - http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre8.apk
2. restart phone
3. test it out.
4. let us know who it worked.
Hi,
I updated the APK rebooted, I am still not able to see the device. I also tried removing permissions from the old app from superuser and regranting them. Any other ideas?

The copy you uploaded works except for access control, as soon as i enable it it will still connect to the computer but there is no internet access and wifi tether reports starting with errors. WEP still seems to work.

[Q] WiFi finds networks but can't surf after Unlock/Root/Tiamat1.4.0?

Hi folks, I'm new to playing with Android & have a Motorola Xoom here, but I'm kinda stumped by what I'm seeing right now.
First off, I've unlocked my Xoom (WiFi model), put the ClockworkMod Recovery on & updated to the 1.4.0 Tiamat kernel for Xoom WiFi. I'll note that I did it the manual way with adb and not by having ClockworkMod Recovery update from a ZIP, because I was having troubles getting the file to the device.
Well now I have a Xoom tablet that sees networks in the area and only connects to my secured network with the correct password, but when I try to do any network activity from an Android app (tried web browser, market, and youtube), data doesn't appear to move, kinda like it's stuck on DNS - but even if I try a direct IP, data doesn't move.
I've been searching but haven't (yet) run across any hints about what to check... I'm really open to suggestions now - and thanks in advance!
you can try re-pushing the modules through adb or maybe run tiamat 1.4.0 from recovery with .zip file. its real easy to goof things in adb.
Thanks for the response jase!
Well I had tried manually reloading (aka the pre-ClockworkMod method) a number, and when I would adb shell back to the device, it could ping out to other devices & I could ping it from other devices, so the wifi driver was loaded. It's just that nothing could resolve a DNS name, and I couldn't even browse to a local server by IP address in the browser.
I don't have an SD card (yet) and I haven't seen nor discovered another way to download the .zip into ClockworkModRecovery to install it that way. When I try to use the CMR's option to mount the SDcard on my computer, my computer doesn't see the tablet at all - not as an ADB, fastboot, nor mass storage device. A pointer to a good thread with information on using CMR would be appreciated!

[Q] Android File Transfer and Mac OSX 10.5, How to?

Hi
I am trying to use "Android File Transfer" to transfer files between my Xoom and my Mac PPC running OSX 10.5.
It seems to work and load, but when the page opens, it closes straight away.
My Xoom is a UK version Wifi only, 3.2.1, running [ROM] Team Tiamat Xoom Rom 2.2.2 - Moray [9/10/11].
I followed the instructions given on the Motorola pages.
How do others Mac users transfer their files from Xoom to Mac?
Any restrictions with Tiamat Xoom Rom 2.2.2 - Moray?
Thanks
Thomas
I found that the easiest way to manage files is to use sshdroid
https://market.android.com/details?id=berserker.android.apps.sshdroid&feature=search_result
Ones configured , you can reach your files from your pc, mac, o linux machine easily.
I my case I ave a short cut to open the Xoom, or my phone and browse right from my desktop
It works for non rooted android as well as for rooted ones

[Q] Wireless file transfer with G2X

HI,
I've recently purchased the G2X with EagleBlood ROM installed on it.
Any thing works flawlessly , except wireless file transfer
I've tried "AirDroid", "WiFi File Transfer", "Wireless file transfer" , but unfortunately nothing worked.
The same applications working flawlessly on any other Android based device (tablets and phones) I own.
Somebody has any clue ?
Thanks

Try the following remedies:
1) Check your Wifi settings. Make sure it is on either while charging or while you're trying to transfer your data through whichever app you're using.
2) Try sending smaller files (<5kb) just as a test one-by-one to see if that works.
3) I use "AirDroid" & "WiFi File Explore" but you can also try using FTP servers which are offered via "File Expert"
4) Last but not least (I highly doubt this), but you may wanna try reflashing a new ROM or the same ROM again.
Hope I helped.
Try es file explorer. Connect via wifi to your PC/Anastasia and copy/paste

for what it's worth, I use AntTek Explorer and it's network browser functionality, paired up with an FTP server on my LinuxMint Acer Aspire 5517. Works pretty well, but I have to do everything from the AntTek browser, which of course includes pushing files to the device from the laptop (works well up to ~150mb at a time) and to the laptop from the device (good until around ~100mb for me.)

Lineage / custom ROM / Ubuntu on Asus TF101 in 2017

I have recently inherited an Asus TF101 EEEpad and have spent ages trying to find a way to root, install a custom ROM or a lightweight linux on it. Most of the links on this forum seem to have expired or don't work. I got root to work eventually with Kingo Root (at least the Root Checker app says the device is rooted). TWRP crashes frequently and reports 'no recovery partition found' if I try to flash.
Also, I don't seem to be able to reach APX mode. I have tried holding down the power and vol up buttons, but there is no sign of the device when i do 'adb devices' in native OS X or my Windows virtual machine.
Has anyone flashed this device / installed a new OS recently? I would like to run Lubuntu or maybe Arch with LXDE if this is possible...
Any pointers welcome.

Hi.
I'm in the same case of you.
Try to find older file to be able to make the dual boot possible on this old tablet.
But in vain all interessting files are not reachable or i have got "error 404" not found on the download pages.
Try to contact the creator of the OLIFE script and i'm waiting.
if you have news on it tell me.
I will try to apply a second MOD - ADD a HDD on it = like a member done before - the pictures are not avaible but i have understand the process and i like to make DIY.
And another MOD = integrate a 3G or 4G key in it.
Best regards.
+1
Did anyone manage to get anywhere with this?
I had issues with APX too, but after installing Universal Naked Drivers on Win 10 I managed to get TWRP on and then KatKiss 6.0 (Android) on.
Really interested in learning how to get Ubuntu Touch or any distro really on if anyone's still listening to this thread.
This might be of interest to anyone still looking to put a Linux Distro on to the TF101, PostmarketOS: https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/ASUS_Eee_Pad_Transformer_(asus-tf101) which is based upon Alpine I think. Yes, indeed as you say. I do maintain this repository and a Linux distro on this tab is the way to go. It allows you to install updated software and bring it back to life. The GPU is not working, unfortunately, but it's very useful if you want to do lightweight tasks. You have to do some tweaks to get there but it's worth the result if you want to tinker with it.
By the way, I have collected as much as possible about the TF101 (before XDA migrated to the new infrastructure) and I uploaded it here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/tf101-linux-images/files/
