The Worst Android Experience Ever: LG - LG Optimus 3D

OK guys. I don't know where to start. My first Android based LG Phone was GT540. The phone came with 1.6 and was later updated to 2.1. Although it was able to run 2.2, the update never came...
Updating the firmware with KDZ Updater was also as always pain in the arse. And I don't even tell how crappy the phone was.
Thank god I did not pay for it, it came to me as part of a project.
Now I have this Optimus 3D. Normally, I would be using 2.2 because 2.3 Update is still not released for my country (February 2012!). Anyway, I have updated the phone to 2.3 after struggling with about 20 nonsense step via KDZ Firmware updater. ( Update process failed 3 times just because the firmware filename was wrong.)
Now I have to mess with hosts file and sniffers and other struff to get KDZ Updater to work again.
To downgrade, I have no other option but to use a 10 year old OS, XP. Again not to mention pressing thousands of button combinations again and again to get the phone into download mode, which can be done with just 2 buttons with other phones.
I have updated to 2.3 but now I can not recieve calls. A phone that can notrecieve calls! Congrats LG!
I can not call others either. When I call, after about 3 seconds talk, the phone strats buzzing to my ear and voila, the call ends. When I tried to call back quickly, the phonesays: "Wait! I am doing some internal work". I have no people in my SIM, but it checks them every god damn time...
Also another isue is with 3G. It connects whenever it want's. I have to disable it, enable it, disable it, enable it and hope for it to connect.
Also due to this baseband problem, when someone calls and you are not near the phone, the call does not end. Phone keeps ringing until you dismiss the call. You can not imagine how fast this draws your battery. Sometimes, when you come back to your phone, the battery is over due to this problem.
I can not root it either. I am stuck with this firmware now. So, basically, I have to wait for the ICS, which is told to be out in Q3 2012, whic means I will get it in Q1 2013. B!tch please!
I believe there is nothing more to say.
I feel I am really lucky that I did not pay for O3D either.
I will never advise LG Mobile phones. I want to thank LG for ruining such an open and good platform like Android and closing it down by every means.

True to the last word! I wasn't lucky enough to have the Optimus 3D for free! I actually paid for that crap, so I am twice as disappointed. I'm never buying another LG product again unless I have evidence their support policy has changed.

ok first of all LG support does actually suck. I mean they delivered gb late and with some bugs but flashing a fw which is not for your country and then blaming LG for having missed calls is lame. Lots of people report SOME missing calls but the freq you seem to imply (not getting almost any call) seems it has to do with flashing wrong version of fw for your country. Plus I have not even one missed call so far (being on the fw version for my country) and so do many other people. As much as you and I and everyone else wants to have a rooted version of the phone, rooting is not something that any company has to deliver. What each company tries to do (and lg achieved either by dump luck or by wasting good programmers in patching root instead of fixing gb probs or deliver ics) is to blok root so as to have as little work as possible on their service centers by people who f*@*d up their phones also because rooting itself means there are security isues with the phine which can be exploited. Samsung, sony and all major companies would prevent users from having root if they could I think.

Actually, this is not related to flashing an incompatible FW. People with offical updates are also reporting problems...

You got the phone for free. Stop being such a *****.

i have the 4g version of your phone and love it running 2.3.5 v20c smoth as butter no drop calls no missed sms/mms runs fast battery isnt the best on earth but better then froyo i have no problems with lg

I have to say that I too am dissapointed with LG. My optimus 3d worked just fine when it was on 2.2.2. I patiently waited for the official update to come via the LG update software, and after months of waiting the update finally came - unfortunately, I have to say. The first thing I noticed was worse battery life. The battery is draining at least 20% faster than before. And today I experienced the ghost call issue. I hope LG responds to these issues quickly or I'll have to sell my phone. Last thing I need right now is an unreliable phone.

I don't mean this in a nasty way but there is no way you can do that. Your a normal user like all of us except you seem to have the enviable superpower of getting lg phones for free
I'm on stock rom and its fine, no ghost calls or any problems you describe but if your going to mess with roms etc you have to accept that doing so can make the phone worse.
Are you now on stock rom for your country? If so you should still be able to root phone, if not well to be fair to lg its not their fault if you are using non lg firmware and they certainly have no legal duty to you unless your on stock non rooted rom for your country.

I agree with you.

I paid for O3D, paid for unlock, switched from iphone 4, really like 3D, really like android, then suffered missed calls and missed sms, with no notice or warning whatsoever. Tried to get passed it, but after missing an important call and sms from someone the same day, I switched back to my iPhone 4.
I am hopeful LG will at some point resolve the ghost issues, and if that happens SOON, I'll try again, if not - I'll try to sell on ebay or CL, or may get stuck with it and burn my cash............................................

I just love the whole i hacked my phone now it dosent work so its lg's fault i personally love my Lg i have had no troubles other than it came unable to connect to my 850mhz 3G but that was easy fixed maybe flash back to stock?

I have never rooted my phone, nor have I ever installed a custom ROM, or any ROM whatsoever. I used my phone for making phone calls, sending sms, surfing the internet and playing games. Then one day LG PC Suite tells me that there is an update available for my phone. I clicked update and things were never the same again.
Next time inform yourself before you start putting everyone under the same hat.

Same here.. with lg p500 i said LG NEVER AGAIN! 3 times to the guarentee and the same problem every time... now i have a nexus s rooted with ics rom and, what a happiness... i love android and hate ios... here, we are free... but understand what u say, but just because i read LG in yout post...
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk

When I got my O3D I was excited since it was my first dual core phone. I had and HTC Desire(CDMA) before. The phone was great at first, didn't bother rooting the phone or anything. Then I started getting random restarts and found out that I couldn't send email using LGemail with exchange as I would send 3 emails from my phone. So I decided to root and install cm7 nightly my email worked but then not having hdmi or 3D defeated the purpose of even having the phone so I installed GB then ghost calls so I went back to froyo as getting phone calls/texts was more important then my email issue, and paid $20 for Moxier Mail. Which has worked out fine but still having to deal with random reboots which kills my battery.
I know the issue with my phone isn't all LG's fault since my carrier sucks when it comes to working with android. Since I had issues with their other phones Milestone X, Samsung Fascinate(replacement for Milestone X), Galaxy S2.
But I just bought a Dell Venue Pro(WP7) unlocked and it has been working great so far had it for almost a week. No problems yet a couple of annoying things with the OS but a lot less annoying then my O3D issues.

Im thinking of changeing LG 3D, to LG 2x, because of the richer development stage on LG 2x.
They are about he same value in the market. Thought about the nexus S, but that can be the step backwards in the terms of cpu. And it is hard to get, and price is about the same as for new LG 3D, but Nexus S are second hand mostly. New ones are even more expensive than the new LG 3D.
What do you think people ? Is it worth to change to LG 2x ? I want fast and stable custom roms, cm7/9, miui, ICS, all of this

I personally wouldn't change it for the 2X. I would go for the Samsung Galaxy R or something like that. If the ghost call issue isn't fixed in 3 to 4 weeks tops I'll be switching over to WP7 (HTC Titan to be precise). I'm not only getting tired of all these problems, but also getting tired of android too.

Galaxy R is rare in my region. Only nexus s, lg2x, atrix, sensation counts. Sgs2/R is too expensive in my region. If not it would be obvious choice, cause of the development of custom roms.

I also wouldn't do it, not with quad core phones on the horizon. I finally spend few hours today and downgraded my O3D to froyo with acura rom and believe me there is day/night difference now. No more freaking ghost calls, getting all calls, sms, installed all my apps from titanium and it's freaking fast and default clocked at 1300Mhz since they also undervolt it. I heard the GPU is at 400mhz as well.
only prob with camera as it resorts back to lowest resolution but i'm checking into it.
believe me it's brought back life to my almost useless phone.
I would wait for SGIII in near future when i'll swap o3D and iphone4.

LG sending out software update to fix g2x

LG is sending out a maintance upgrade for the g2x to correct all the software glitches that have been causing rebooting etc. this update will hit middle of may..SO, everyone hold tight, LG G2x will reign supreme, no need to replace
Do you have an official link, post, pic, or proof? I prefer to build my hopes on company made promises.
Is this based off the stock 2.2 rom?
Why not just fix the 2.3 leak and release that
i went to tmobile store today amd multiple store managers at different stores comfirmed that LG contacted them and said a maintnance update is coming out within a couple weeks, to fix all the devices.....I believe this to be true based on probability 3 different managers from 3 different stores told me this, when i was trying to exchange the device.....i got it exchanged and my manufacturing date is 4 /26/11, anyone else have one made that late
LG is retarded. I was calling them because of a headphone compatibility issue and they guy didn't know what the g2x or the p999 was. This was a rep in LG's mobile accessories department. I told him I was embarrassed for him.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I was at a local store just yesterday after work asking about the camera issue, and there was no mention of it. I've made multiple calls to t-mobile customer service line and same deal there.
Any details on the fix, what issues it will resolve etc? My camera basically takes pictures/videos but the screen goes DARK and you can't exactly 'preview' anything. Same deal with any other camera app from the appmarket or barcode scanner apps as well.
Store mentioned other customers have reported the same thing, but no resolution yet...
the weird thing was i had to go to multiple stores because almost everyone was out, but not saying anything to any manager, the one said LG sent them a message that a maintnance update was scheduled for g2x in midmay to fix rebooting, freezing, and all other glitches. So i went to another store, and i said NOTHING about it, and then to my suprise, the manager there said, dont worry we just got notice that a maintnance update is coming out midmay as an ota update to fix g2x. Then i called another store, and the lady manager there said yes i heard that too... at that point, i was so happy, because folks, i didnt say anything, so how did all of them know.......
Weird.... I have absolutely no issues with my g2x, and honestly I am not going to do any upgrades unless it the official gb release. My only gripe is the BS battery drain issue, which I wish people would stop making excuses for.

If they operate like any of the companies I've worked at, the managers probably go to monthly or quarterly regional meetings. I'm excited about the update though. Thanks for the tip for sure. Hopefully our devs can roll this into their ROMs fairly easily. I can't wait to see what future OTA updates can do!
there is a report about an lg o2x update online. i've seen nothing about the g2x so far. hopefully these reps are not mistaken.

Yes Thats my date and I have very minimal screen bleed and only one reboot so far and the phone works great. I ordered a replacement to see if I can get less screen bleed and I got a 4/28 one with much worst screen bleed that u can see during the day so Im returning the new one and keeping the 4/26 one which rocks!

Yeah, I don't understand the RAM concern either. Seems to be a small obsession with this guy; he started another tread whining about how "handicapped " the phone is because it has so "little" RAM. I really think he just doesn't understand how Android allocates memory...
My G2x was fine no reboots or freezing. Then I flashed Eagles Blood and I was getting frustrated with the keyboard lag so I reverted back to stock from my nandroid back up and now I have had one reboot, it has frozen when coming off the charger twice now. Kinda wish I would have never flashed a custom rom.... I am hoping this is legit and everything gets patched and is ready to rock again!

lol, you put too much faith in customer service. people were actually sent replacement g2's for their g2x.
UK Version
Hey everyone, thought I'd register to chime in.
The UK version of this phone was released with its own LG skin so it makes sense that LG would release a patch to correct their own custom made skin (the problems that people seem to be having in the UK are reported to be much much worse then the G2x).
Don't expect the same patch to be released for the G2x because there is no LG skin on it. The patch for the G2x should be an android update.

I had major battery drain issues phone was lasting only 6 hours and I ended up doing a factory reset and now my phone can last all day! I can unplug the phone at 2am wake up at 10am and use the phone , fb, gmail, web browsing, and youtube all day and still have 40% left by midnight.

Even though the G2x is not running LG's interface, I'm pretty sure LG still has a hand in the updates. Just like T-Mobile will also have a hand in the updates.

LG confirms update is coming for G2X, stops reboots/freezes - also Gingerbread...

Probably the single most informative thread I've read about this phone ever.
http://www.lgforum.com/forum/boards...-issues-where-is-our-update-in-the-us-for-g2x
Look at the responses from the LG Pro guy and the Moderator. They outright confirm there's an update that fixes the issue - one guy already has it on his phone and it's stable. Then the other guy says Gingerbread build is almost done so they were going to wait to release update and bundle with Gingerbread. All in all, it's a total clusterf*ck BUT...BUT at least they are giving information. Most companies wouldn't have said anything.
Now that I know this, I am more willing to deal with any reboots/issues - let's hope we don't wait long. The post says maybe 2 weeks.
My local T-Mobile reps say the software update is supposed to come out end of summer...
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I wouldnt fully trust what they say on those forums. If they do roll out a fix soon, it probably wont include gingerbread. Gingerbread will probably be rolled out closer to mid summer according to my sources. I guess that LGs and Tmobiles meaning of soon doesnt mean anything. I just try to keep my mind off of this issue but but its difficult to do that when the phone freezes and reboots. LCD bleed I can handle.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Let's be frank, the T-Mobile reps are unknowledgeable at best and flat out misleading at worst. I want to preface this by saying I've had absolutely no problems with my G2X and it's from early March. This includes no battery-drain issues (battery lasts around 20 hours with moderate use, which is fine with me), no GPS issues, no random freezes or reboots, and only minor light bleeding that doesn't bother me. I love this phone.
That being said, at least half of the people that bought this phone are having issues. If it's really going to be the end of Summer, T-Mobile really screwed the pooch here—and it is T-Mobile's fault, not LG's. Let me state this again, if you're pissed off at the G2X, complain to T-Mobile. The above thread outlines very clearly that LG knows there's an issue, has fixed the issue, and is being held from releasing said fix by T-Mobile trying to strategize a release date.
It's really obnoxious that people complain about LG being to blame for everything, when very likely T-Mobile rushed them into releasing a phone before they could iron all of the software bugs out just so they could claim to be the first carrier with a dual-core phone and is now holding up the release of very critical fixes.
That being said, if you're having issues with your G2X, instead of coming to xda-developers and complaining about it, hop on Twitter and let T-Mobile know you're pissed. Don't just threaten to bring the phone back: link to the LG thread and demand to know why they're preventing LG from releasing the patch. Even if you hate the phone and intend on returning it, there is clearly an issue with T-Mobile delaying the release of updates the phone manufacturers have ready and it's something they need to be told is unacceptable.
I've posted on T-mobile's Twitter about how the fix is available, but T-mobile refuses to release the patch. Lets spread the word and Hammer their twitter page with that information.

T-mobile rep here
you have a great point, it was most likely T-Mobile (NOT the reps) that rushed the release of it but does not mean LG isnt completely innocent either. So please if you do want to vent/complain about the phone do so by contacting "T-mobile" directly and not taking it out on the reps. As far as labeling the reps "unknowledgeable at best and flat out misleading at worst" does not go for ALL reps. I know im not the typical rep but i started out with smartphones a few years back with the Cingular 8525, flashing roms for a couple years now, I follow all the tech blogs and majoring in Electronics Engineering, currently in my senior year. In other words, I know my stuff. t-mobile tries their best to train us on most subjects but of course we are not Cellular phone engineers at the end of the day. Last time i checked my tittle was RETAIL SALES associates. so if you need help with buying the phone and some info/differences about the phone, that is why we are here. We dont have a direct communication line with the manufactures, so i dont know why people expect us to have all the answers. not trying to bash anyone just thought the reps should have a small voice in the matter

Would you believe it.... I turned my Nexus One on to get it ready to sell it...and I just got and installed the ota for Gingerbread 2.3.4 LOL now if only for my G2x.....
I think both Tmobile and LG are at fault for releasing a really buggy phone; hardware and software. Also, the only phones you can count on for getting updated are the Nexus phones. However, im happy with my G2x and coming from the more stable G2, i still enjoy using my G2x more. I have faith that several of the software issues will get fixed eventually. If not, give the cyanogen folks some time and im sure they will cook up a stable rom before the official gingerbread arrives.
You all say blame tmo for pushing lg, but lg released the O2x and it also has the same basic issues right and that was released prior to the G2x.

The biggest problem no one has pointed out....
This is basically confirmed to be a hardware/software issue, and it does basically affect all G2X phones one way or another. So how on earth are these issues never brought up in "professional" reviews. So this brings two disturbing facts. Tmo/LG cherry picked working phones for the reviewers and packed the failing phones in boxes for customers, or the reviewers were shills or they were lazy turned on the phone, saw it was basically a super-powered Nexus-ish phone, ran a couple Tegra games and just went by the specs for the review and never actually tested the phone. No matter what the case, it's disturbing. I'm on my 3rd g2x, and miss the stability of my Nexus One (I still have it, but really want the G2X to run at LEAST as well as my Nexus One.
Hell when I got this I was hoping to have a smooth experience with Live Wallpapers, but it was just slightly less "jerky" then on the Nexus One...I was sad...
This is the most stable phone I've had and I've had many...
No reboot issues here, and I've had 3 different ones.. Phone never freezes, slows, reboots, lags etc....
Sorry you all are having bad experiences, but every phone forum has complaints and people claiming the phone is plagued with bugs..
Well, not me and I have had it since release....
I'm calling user error lol j/k but damn if yall just had my 3 different ones you would be in love..
Back to topic.. I hope yall get a update (i dont need it) so people can stop harping on this awesome phone...

I'm not holding my breath for the update anytime soon but does anyone know if this will fix the screen of death/battery pull issue? Are they related?

Lol.. Dont cry.... Scratched one, dust in other, new one.great.. all three great in the non freezing and rebooting department...
I didn't have a single lock-up until I went to a 2.3.3 ROM. And now I'm getting them... Sooo, I could just go back to stock and fix it.. but I don't want to to. I'd rather post another post about how my phone locks up.

I had reboots and was forced to do a factory reset 5 times until I started to flash nightlies. Now I get no reboots at all, though the battery issue is still unresolved...and I can't use wifi.
Robbing Peter to pay Paul, it appears.
I would have to say that my unit has been amazing. I traded my nexus s for this current unit and I have flashed TW B2 rom before then and after no freezing, reboots, and it has light LDC bleed. The LCD thing dose not bother me and I can only expect the best for this device!

G2x should I purchase ?

I really wana buy the phone and root it and put cm7 would I still have random shutdowns ? Please share your experience . Right now I have HTC panache from Canada if anyone wana trade
I would like to know the same question. The only difference is that I bought the g2x already and I'm about to kick t mobile in the face because this is the second one that I have had and they are extremely unstable (t mobile told me the phone was a great phone they are full of sh#t). I really like the phone and all the features, but I don't want to flash another ROM unless I know that it will fix the random boot looping, and random shutdowns. Until they give me a better phone or lg updates this thing with gingerbread then I'm stuck in a hole and don't want to do anything.
CM7 nightly #80 here. Haven't had a random shutdown/reboot/whatever since I don't know when. Then again, I install do almost every nightly, so my phone gets a reboot every other day or so. Testing Faux's kernel now.
Overall the stock rom is a sack of crap and you should definitely look into another rom/kernel. Most if not all of this phone's issues are software and more get fixed every day.
Not if you don't plan to root it and load a different ROM

I would say a big No to buying this phone now.
Had mine since release day, running CM7 now. Even though things are much better with CM7 this phone has 0 support from LG or Nvidia.
If you are in the market for a new phone I would just wait a few months and get the new Nexus thats going to be released.
N1 was my first phone then the G2x but from now on I think i'm only going to stick to Nexus line of phones as they get their support from Google.
I am with you on this one...if you can wait it out, do it. I have this strange feeling the update we get from LG will be our last. Seriously look how long it's taking them to release plain gb.

If you plan to root/flash/mod it, then YES this will be a great phone for you! Definitely buy it! The experience with stock rom seems to be hit/miss -- some people claim to have no issues, while others (myself included) had problems with random reboots and other glitches.
I rooted mine 2 days after getting it, and I've flashed several different roms onto it, and it has been a great phone. Its a beast for sure. I've settled on CM7 because I love the speed/battery-life/custom settings. But I also like Ultimate G2X 1.0 for a Froyo/Stock-based rom.

What are you basing this "feeling" off of? Its only been 2 months since the phone was released. I do think they would've been better to wait until they had gingerbread ready before releasing the phone, but this phone will be a viable piece of hardware for some time to come. Its a powerhouse.

I'm with you on sticking with the Nexus phones if you want the quickest updates to Android. However I dont think that means this is a bad phone to buy. I had the Nexus One and I loved it. I was even reluctant to switch to the G2X because I loved my N1 so much. The Nexus S wasn't enough of an upgrade for me, so I decided to go ahead and get the G2X. Looking back, I'm glad I did. This phone is amazing and I'd make the same decision again.
Granted, I bought it planning to root/mod it. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who wants a surefire 100% stable stock experience. But if you're gonna mod it then its a perfect phone. Great hardware and there are some great devs supporting this phone.
Im in canada and i bought one from Wind Mobile, (they call it the optimus 2x, but its really a G2x) I havent had a single problem with it thus far, no screen bleeding, freezes, or reboots.
If you do get one, make sure you dont make the mistake i did. When you flash it use Nvflash, and only refer to the g2x forums.
If anyone wants to buy a G2X, I have one for sale in new condition without a scratch or blemish on it. I returned 4 of them to get my current one which is perfect without any bugs and only some minor screen bleed. I don't think you can find one without any bleed at all but mine is only noticeable in a dark room with the brightness cranked to 100 while looking at a dark background. No screen bleed is noticeable during normal use. I had my G2X for almost 2 months without a single reboot, freeze or any other major problem. The battery on mine also lasts a ling time compared to some other reports I see in these forums. If your interested, make me a offer. You will get everything it came with, including the box.

Mines from Wind as well and no issues other than poor stock ROM battery life, since I've rooted it and set profiles with SetCPU and used to Titanium to freeze background bloat I can last until around 10-11PM before it's dead and needs a charge. Not the best but gets me through a day.

running rc-1 here and haven't had any problems at all. I love my phone. Love eeverything about it. But like someone said above tthere is really no support for it. [G2x] LG/T-Mobile please honor G2x Support and Warranty and fix it

[G2x] LG/T-Mobile please honor G2x Support and Warranty and fix it
LG, T-Mobile,
I want to say that at least my T-Mobile G2x (LG P999) is broken:
_ random reboots
_ random shutdowns, probably because of overheating, requiring the removal of the battery to turn it on again
_ data download/upload stalls even when signal/coverage has full bars (this might cause Apps to stay almost forever in that "waiting/in progress" rotating circle)
_ issues with airplane mode
_ Camera App hang-up's (try to open Camera, get black screen and then "App force close prompt")
_ Phone went totally mute
The G2x going mute was my latest and greatest issue. It just happen to this morning. I woke up on my own without hearing any alarm from the Phone, I check the G2x and still saw the snooze notification so the alarm was fired but when I tried to increase/decrease the volume, no sound/noise what so ever. Also my battery seemed to get drained during the night (6 hours?) and I tried to take several screenshots of the battery use graph, I could see the screen flashing, indicating the image capture, no sound of course but no screenshots were generated either.
A lot of fun, huh?
This was the last water drop for me, because enough is enough and I think the G2x has being neglected of proper support, maintenance and care by its vendors.
01. T-Mobile: I heard from them on the phone that they acknowledge the G2x problems, they are waiting for a fix from LG, but they are not doing anything else about it, other than waiting our warranty to expire next month, April 2012.
02. LG: I also called them this year and they do not seem to acknowledge nor say anything special for the G2x.
T-Mobile, LG, are you going to honor your contract and warranty and fix and support your/our Phones, T-Mobile G2x (LG P999)?
Please provide appropriate advice in order to resolve the situation.
I want to try 1 more time to talk (including calling Support) with each one of you, T-Mobile and LG, and I hope to see your commitment to resolve all these G2x issues, with clear expectations and timelines, because our timeline is pretty clear and imminent: within 30 days or so, the first buyers of the G2x in the US, will have their warranty expired.
Could you please fix your Phone?
Kind regards,
PS: The 3rd Entity that I will to talk to if the first 2 did not address the issue properly will be BBB, because I do not want to waste my money on T-Mobile 2-year upgrade buying an LG Phone that does look to work well.

I hate to be " that guy " but these problems seem to be software issues, I've been running CM nightlies and haven't been experiencing those problems.
Don't hate yourself.
2 things here:
01. So if it is really Software, LG can do the same as CM, right? I would think LG has more resources than CM and they should be in better position to do it better than anyone else... Well, what do I know...
02. How long have you been running this same ROM release/version? I have been using only the T-Mobile / LG Officials releases, in other words only 2 Android releases: 2.2 from 2011/04 to 2011/07 and after that 2.3.

You do remember that T-Mobile EOL'd the G2x, due to this your nonperformance clause might be a moot point. I don't expect T-Mobile will pay for updating a phone that is no longer supported by them. The only hope of update would be from LG. But not certain that will happen, they covered themselves in the manual under Phone Software Update.
"NOTE: LG reserves the right to make firmware updates available only for selective models at its own discretion and does not guarantee the availability of the newer version of the firmware for all handset models."
Fair enough.
However, please note.
I am not asking for ICS, right?
I just want them to FIX their Phone.
I would think that is covered in the contract / support / wanrranty.

khamikaze, flash any custom rom and get on with the rest of your life!
@joe75,
I understand your suggestion, but that's not the point, is it?
I want to value my money...
As a last resort after the warranty is expired, I will definitely look into that.
Thanks,
I was never on the stock rom long, Ive been using Cm7 for about 3 months. I would really recommend flashing a custom rom for better stability.

This. LG/T-Mobile don't use their time looking at XDA forums to see how their devices are doing. They use it making money. If you want something done right, do it yourself. If you don't want to flash a ROM (easiest, smartest thing to do), call LG since I'm assuming you still have warranty, since you don't want to flash CM7 it anything else. Tell them your issues, send it to them, send you back a new phone, and live happy.

That's exactly my point.. You asked "Please provide appropriate advice in order to resolve the situation". Everything you listed in your op are known issues, but you seem to leave out the screen bleed problem that almost every phone has suffered. If you look back to some of the first posts in the G2x section you will see many people have had the same complaints and problems you describe from day one.
To get the value for your money and the real enjoyment of the G2X you will need to flash a custom rom and forget about LG or Tmobile ever doing anything to help the situation.
If you need help flashing a rom, we can set up a time when I can help you with team viewer. I would be doing all the work for you so that would eliminate some problems if your not used to it.

Other than that, try loading a better rom than the stock one. I am using the stock based New Clip which is fantastic. Not a single issue.

thats your problem right there, flash a new rom, you wont regret it. i was about to give up on this phone too, until i found this place and started running hellfire pheonix. loved it!! now im on hellfire sandwich and cant imagine ever going back to the sh$#ty stock roms. lg and t-mobile are not going to make their roms any better, theyve already proved that in my eyes. also my wife is on her 3rd g2x, she wanted to send this one back too but i talked her out of it, flashed hellfire pheonix2.0 for her and now she has no problems with it and loves her phone again..
I have to say that you really should have done your research BEFORE you purchased this phone. The phone has had well known issues from the beginning. I just bought this phone not too long ago knowing full well what I was getting into. I installed a custom rom the day I received. I love it. My phone has been running smooth as can be. It has been no secret that the G2x had software issues right from the get go. My suggestion would be to do more research next time you buy, well really, anything and this is a strange place to come complaining about issues with the stock software. Flash a new rom and have fun with your much improved phone!

This. I bought it a month ago, and had read a bunch of articles on how crappy the phone was on a few blog sites. But, coming from the Vibrant and G1, I knew how much of a difference a custom rom could do. So it came in the mail, I unpacked it, turned it on to make sure it worked, rooted it, and never looked back. I wouldn't know the issues you had since I never used the stock software, but Ive never had issues running Bionix Reloaded, or CM7 based roms. If you're not willing to fix it yourself, with so many options available, don't complain.

Everyone seems to be saying custom roms fix everything. Sadly I am on ice cream right now and was on gingerbread (Miui) before and I have the exact same issues. I have to reset my modem all the time due losing a connection (i put it in airplane mode then turn that mode off to get data back). Even with a third party battery I still get overheated sod's. So it is not just the software. It might be the drivers

Fuk the quality of customer support and lack of updates and drivers and sources..the actual hardware and phone it self is hands down the best and most stable of the last year...not to mention its un-brickable and stupid fast. I just got a Samsung i727 and its garbage. Juggernaut sucks(but whitehawkx is the man...team kang for life) aaaannnndddd I'm about to walk outside and poop on it and upload the pic with my g2x.

Try CM7, MIUI is unstable (IMO!) and ICS is in alpha stages for this phone.
Make sure you're wiping data, cache, dalvik cache, and system before flashing or problems from the previous ROM will still be there and even more problems too

Returned my Flex 2

you know, I have been with LG for quite some time now, but I do have to say that the LG G Flex 2 was a huge disappointment. I have owned the G2, Original G Flex, G3 and the Flex 2 and it was by far the worst phone. I absolutely loved my G2 and then got the Original Flex to try out and loved it (except for the screen res and burn in effect). When the G3 came out I loved it but had a few problems, like sticking with the SD801 was a bad decision and made the phone laggy due to the screen, and there were ways to speed it up and it turned out to be a great phone.
But now that LG has started to gain popularity with their mobile devices, I am worried that they are going to let it go to their heads and start cutting corners. I am going to try LG one more time to see how they handle this disappointment, and trust me they know this phone bombed because the world has let them know how bad it really is. I hope that the G4 is going to blow everyone away and restore all of us die hard fans' faith in the company. I know alot of people are going to this from the G2, and are disappointed in the speed of the phone. so if you dont mind a big phone, I went with the Nexus 6 and could not be happier, this phone blows me away by how fast and responsive it is. this phone is a Rooting Person's Dream lol
I do have to say i will miss my LG, but for people out there wanting to upgrade now, I think if you can wait just alittle bit longer, then wait. this phone isnt worth the upgrade and wait for the G4. but if you are looking for an amazing phone, I have to say go with the Nexus 6
You should have hung in there for the update it runs fantastic now all the transitions are smooth and the phone is very good now
Nexus 6 was just too big for me.
If your only issue with the phone was the lag then you should have waited a bit..., I personally love this phone.

Was all the lag fixed with a firmware update, then?
Not all but the most.
I'm on 10b and its good now.
10d is better but not available for Vodafone germany. The software/ui wasn't optimized for the snapdragon 810.
Gta San Andreas runs very smooth with max settings
I personally haven't had a lot of lag. But I just got my phone 4/4 and the update had already been released. What I do have is battery issues. Neither my nor my friends phone will read my samsung 64 GB sd card and infact if i put the card into either phone it immediately corrupts the data forcing a reformat.
This combined with the relatively absent dev community is likely going to force me into a Galaxy s6 on the 10th
That being said There are some things this phone did completely right and I wish Samsung would have stepped their sh*t up a notch.
Frankly the current offerings fail to excite me and these upgrades feel lackluster.
From my galaxy s5 with a sweet Dev community to the G flex 2 with *cricket cricket* no dev community.
TBH if i didn't have the above mentioned issues and little things
(for example smart remote not deploying into notification panel despite the fact that i chose home wifi and was connected to it., The youtube app not letting me pause a video.) That may be Lolliflop issues and I would be surprised if a lot of those type of bugs go away when 5.1 hits.
Lately Android seems to trying to be more iPhone like meanwhile apple is stealing Android features by the bushel and becoming more android like.
I will likely never buy an apple product do to the lack of transparency and also hatred for the walled garden.
That being said android needs to wow me. I kind of wish I had waited to pull the trigger on upgrading but I traded in my phone after a year with sprint and now Have to take a step up.
It looks like it's going to be an s6 for me.
But I curse the loathsome curr dogs Samsung for taking away my microSd and My removable battery.
But alas I need to get a real phone with a dev community.
Or else start learning to dev myself.

I personally haven't had a lot of lag. But I just got my phone 4/4 and the update had already been released. What I do have is battery issues. Neither my nor my friends phone will read my samsung 64 GB sd card and infact if i put the card into either phone it immediately corrupts the data forcing a reformat.

I don't have problems with lag, battery or the other problems your phone has. Did you try a factory reset?
I agree the lack of devs is discouraging.

I think a lot of dev are waiting to see if this phone bootloader will be unlockable because the first og G Flex was able to be rooted but the bootloader was locked on tight that's the reason it also lacked in the development section.

The s5 had knox and it was still defeated. If enough devs get this phone ( big if) someone will defeat it.
If i were lg i would be trying to do everything I could to move phones.
That would include pandering to the modders.
Lets be honest here most of us here on are the most tech savvy people in our family/friend circles.
At least i am. And all my friends and family follow my lead as far as phones.
Everybody has a galaxy s5 in my family. It's because I recommended it to them. I definitely can't recommend LG based on the super locked boot loader. Nor the issues I've had. Tbh im prob returning for an s6. As long as bootloader is unlocked.

Your right but it's very risky for these devs to just put out the cash for a phone that your to not sure is going to succeed in the development department especially with the locked boot loader. The original Flex was a nightmare when it came down to development but overall the phone was great so I stuck with it for a whole year.
I was waiting for the flex 2 but saw too many reasons to not get it so I decided to buy the nexus 6 right out for $500 brand new sealed and I don't regret it at all and plus I still have my upgrade available so I could use it for a device well worth in quarter 4.

Hey guys, Sorry havent had the chance to check in, but I am glad that most have had updates to fix alot of the problems. I am on sprint and 9 times out of 10 sprint is the last to provide any updates for a phone for some reason. I really did like the phone and im sure I will try LG again in the future, but I didnt want to be stuck with a phone I was having so many issue's with until they decided to throw out an update, and we know sometimes that can be months. The Nexus 6 is big but I love it and the battery life is ALOT better than my G3 and the Flex 2, but nothing has beaten the G2. I sure wish LG could find a way to bring back the best of performance and battery life like they did on the G2.
just out of curiousity, are any of you guys on sprint? I was just curious if sprint did release an update

I'm pretty sure he will with all the development that's going on on that device lol.
Took mine back and got me a note 4 . Sold my nexus 6 for the flex 2 because i didn't like it and i hated the flex2 more than the nexus6 . This could have been a killer phone

oh yes, loving the development on this phone. im constantly trying new roms and kernels.. havent seen support like this since the OG Evo.
But also, I have multiple lines on my account, so I get a new phone every six months. so while you are still using this I will have probably gotten three phones to your one. Peace

yea, i cant seem to make up my mind so i just try them all... lol
but coming from LG's I hate how the USB OTG doesnt auto mount thru the UI, I loved that feature. and Stickmount is ok but it still doesnt make it work with all apps
also, just out of curiousity... I have had LG for awhile and liked the UI, but the Flex 2 was the first time it was just super laggy and I never really cared for other launchers, but now that I have the Nexus 6 and have been playing with Stock Google and AOSP roms, I didnt care for the Google Launcher so I started playing with others and really like Apex. It works great for me and I can customize and setup just how I like..
So has anyone with the Flex 2 tried any other launchers on it and if so how did it work. was it an instant transformation or was there still some issues?
