G2x should I purchase ? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I really wana buy the phone and root it and put cm7 would I still have random shutdowns ? Please share your experience . Right now I have HTC panache from Canada if anyone wana trade

I would like to know the same question. The only difference is that I bought the g2x already and I'm about to kick t mobile in the face because this is the second one that I have had and they are extremely unstable (t mobile told me the phone was a great phone they are full of sh#t). I really like the phone and all the features, but I don't want to flash another ROM unless I know that it will fix the random boot looping, and random shutdowns. Until they give me a better phone or lg updates this thing with gingerbread then I'm stuck in a hole and don't want to do anything.

CM7 nightly #80 here. Haven't had a random shutdown/reboot/whatever since I don't know when. Then again, I install do almost every nightly, so my phone gets a reboot every other day or so. Testing Faux's kernel now.
Overall the stock rom is a sack of crap and you should definitely look into another rom/kernel. Most if not all of this phone's issues are software and more get fixed every day.

Not if you don't plan to root it and load a different ROM

I would say a big No to buying this phone now.
Had mine since release day, running CM7 now. Even though things are much better with CM7 this phone has 0 support from LG or Nvidia.
If you are in the market for a new phone I would just wait a few months and get the new Nexus thats going to be released.
N1 was my first phone then the G2x but from now on I think i'm only going to stick to Nexus line of phones as they get their support from Google.

I am with you on this one...if you can wait it out, do it. I have this strange feeling the update we get from LG will be our last. Seriously look how long it's taking them to release plain gb.

If you plan to root/flash/mod it, then YES this will be a great phone for you! Definitely buy it! The experience with stock rom seems to be hit/miss -- some people claim to have no issues, while others (myself included) had problems with random reboots and other glitches.
I rooted mine 2 days after getting it, and I've flashed several different roms onto it, and it has been a great phone. Its a beast for sure. I've settled on CM7 because I love the speed/battery-life/custom settings. But I also like Ultimate G2X 1.0 for a Froyo/Stock-based rom.

What are you basing this "feeling" off of? Its only been 2 months since the phone was released. I do think they would've been better to wait until they had gingerbread ready before releasing the phone, but this phone will be a viable piece of hardware for some time to come. Its a powerhouse.

I'm with you on sticking with the Nexus phones if you want the quickest updates to Android. However I dont think that means this is a bad phone to buy. I had the Nexus One and I loved it. I was even reluctant to switch to the G2X because I loved my N1 so much. The Nexus S wasn't enough of an upgrade for me, so I decided to go ahead and get the G2X. Looking back, I'm glad I did. This phone is amazing and I'd make the same decision again.
Granted, I bought it planning to root/mod it. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who wants a surefire 100% stable stock experience. But if you're gonna mod it then its a perfect phone. Great hardware and there are some great devs supporting this phone.

Im in canada and i bought one from Wind Mobile, (they call it the optimus 2x, but its really a G2x) I havent had a single problem with it thus far, no screen bleeding, freezes, or reboots.
If you do get one, make sure you dont make the mistake i did. When you flash it use Nvflash, and only refer to the g2x forums.

If anyone wants to buy a G2X, I have one for sale in new condition without a scratch or blemish on it. I returned 4 of them to get my current one which is perfect without any bugs and only some minor screen bleed. I don't think you can find one without any bleed at all but mine is only noticeable in a dark room with the brightness cranked to 100 while looking at a dark background. No screen bleed is noticeable during normal use. I had my G2X for almost 2 months without a single reboot, freeze or any other major problem. The battery on mine also lasts a ling time compared to some other reports I see in these forums. If your interested, make me a offer. You will get everything it came with, including the box.

Mines from Wind as well and no issues other than poor stock ROM battery life, since I've rooted it and set profiles with SetCPU and used to Titanium to freeze background bloat I can last until around 10-11PM before it's dead and needs a charge. Not the best but gets me through a day.

running rc-1 here and haven't had any problems at all. I love my phone. Love eeverything about it. But like someone said above tthere is really no support for it. And there is going to be a line of a bunch of dual core phones with probably the same specs soon to come. If I were you I might wait it out. Although it is a great phone running cm7

I would wait for Official Gingerbread before you buy this phone. Has many bugs right now. Auto shutdown, reboot, screen bleed (hardware), wifi disconnection, ect... Best phone out there is Galaxy S2 if you're willing to import.

[Q] Is this phone really worth it?

I have been really excited to get this phone, but every day I keep seeing major issues coming up. I just got the phone today and have 14 days to return it. I just dont know if im sold on it, especially if Galaxy S 2 is just on the horizion. It seems like there is potential. They wouldnt let me upgrade on my tmobile account, so we signed my wife up for a new account. Just cant decide if I should return it and cancel the account or keep it and cancel my account. Thoughts?

I received my second G2x(replacement for the first one) and in less than 6 hours it is has proved to be worse than the first one. Tm is sending me a replacement but if this one has issues than I will definitely wait for SGSII. I really do like this phone but I cannot put up with black screen freezes while charging and while talking on the phone as well as lcd screen bleeding and signal issues etc.. If you got a good one without a lot of issues I would say keep it, however if you got one like one I received than I would advise to either replace or just return.

I bought two phones, both work flawlessly. This is also true for the great majority of people who purchased this phone. Some unlucky (or in some cases possibly too picky) people, however do have some issues. If you plan on holding out for a phone with no reported issues, however, I wish you good luck.
Love. Simply love it.

I like mine so far except for the battery issue (software glitch?) and a few other software glitches (vibrator stays on during a call sometimes, and the phone got stuck in a reboot-launcher-crash loop when I removed the Vino or whatever reader), the thing I miss most is a physical keyboard!
I'm having issues with mine but when it's working this phone is amazing. I really think if you give it a month we'll have most of these issues worked out either by LG updates to 2.2 or even a new 2.3 or CM7.

This phone has insane speed in 2.2. Gingerbread would probably be faster.

Honestly there is only ONE thing I dont LOVE LOVE LOVE about this phone. Im not a fan of my screen bleeding seen here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050691
Other than this issue I feel like this is everything I wanted in a phone when I bought my vibrant. Unfortunately the vibrant was dissapointment after dissapointment. Only think good about it was the beautiful screen. Its so blazing fast, the camera is really good, FFC, stock android, CM7 support SOON, 4g, flash, super nice and bright screen and lots of other great features. Notice how I said the screen is super nice even with the screen bleeding which only shows up on a black screen. Honestly OVERALL the screen is much nicer than the SAMOLED screen by samsung. During the day its actually visible and has a better field of view. Sure the samsung has deeper blacks but overall its worth the trade for a much more versatile screen overall. Being able to use stock android again feels like im back to my roots. I hated touchwiz and soooo happy to be done with it.
Love it. No issues (yet?), and I've been cranking it hard, putting it through it's paces.
Love this phone, build quality right up there with my beloved hd2. Even the haptic feedback is sexy.
This is my second replacement and if I have anymore problems I'm taking it back and waiting for the HTC sensation or something.

I'm in the same boat. I want to love it, but the screen is really a deal killer for me. Yes I know its normal for LCD screens to bleed, but whenever I'm watching videos at night it always seems to bug me. So I start 'messaging' the area and then it gets worse
Going to buy one at t-mobile store tomorrow to see if i get lucky. The lady said yeah if theres a manufacturers defect, then I can replace it on the spot. I don't know if they're just saying that though just to get me to buy it. If its a better one, I'll just send the one i have now back to t-mobile.
besides screen bleeding everythings a + for me. especially coming from an n1. development from cm7, which will make me love this phone even more. yes people will have problems with this phone but lets be honest. is every phone going to be perfect? there will always be pros and cons. people deal with it differently.
I'm loving this phone. I haven't had any problems at all. Screen is flawless, no rebooted or signal problems. I highly recommend it.

ok im thint bad of king about switching to the g2x form my vibe and i was wondering is it really that bad of a phone. i keep reading all of these complaints and im wondering should i make the jump
Don't listen to what other people say. The phone is great, as long as it doesn't shutdown by itself. Screen bleed isn't as bad as people say. It's not noticeable with normal use... Only on a black background with Maximum Brightness, and in a dark room. It's blazing fast. Update baseband makes GPS lock instantly. Screen looks AMAZING. Build quality is really good as well. Don't forget that it runs stock Android... So development on this phone is great. Install any rooted 2.3.3 OTA ROM, or CyanogenMod 7.1 Nightly, and you're good to go.
omg thanks for yur input
As always, test one out in the store if you can. You might get a slightly different experience at home, though.
Just like there's plenty of phones with some problems, there's plenty of working ones as well.

I think this statement says a lot. To say a phone is great when it's not malfunctioning says a lot about the phone. If I were the OP I would not take that as a vote of confidence. That being said, OP don't buy the G2X, it's fine I suppose if you're someone unfortunate to have already purchased it and can't get out of it, but I would hardly suggest jumping on board with it at this juncture. My advice is to just be patient and wait for the Hercules or Nexus Prime. The G2X is an unstable phone that reboots itself and freezes randomly. Why jump onto a sinking ship? There are better options just over the horizon, wait for those.

Neither do I. The only problems I have are a useless FFC, glitchy A2DP, and an uncertain future.
Still... someone who comes here asking for advice and reassurance before purchasing a G2x is well served by strong words of caution. This is the unfortunate truth.
Awesome phone. I've gotten good ones and bad ones... In my experience there were more good then bad..once you get a good one, then in my opinion everything else sucks (that's available now in us.).
Don't listen to others saying no. I sold a vibrant for this and couldn't be happier. Even having gotten a bad few, I still love this device..

So the OP will have to buy a phone based on chance...?
Honestly, I've exchanged my phone once already (the only reason my first one went back is because I thought it had a faulty GPS...turns out they all do!) and I really don't want to be bothered calling T-Mobile every two days until I'm on my nth replacement to get one that actually works.
To the OP, honestly I think ever phone will have its own problems so you just gotta look at the forums to see which ones you can live with.
People's biggest complains with this phone is that:
It restarts randomly (FroYo and Gingerbread).
Has a screen bleed (although better in GB).
The GPS doesn't function the way it should (mostly people complaining from a bad lock on, I personally can't get it to stay locked on for an extended period of time, with RunKeeper it looks like I'm a drunk and spiking up to mountains and running over lakes).
EDIT: And the most annoying thing that happens to me since the GB update: slow downs into oblivion. The phone will become unusable at random times for a good 10 minutes, or until a battery pull (because I'm not able to shut it down since it is unresponsive)
Then there are some that don't experience any of this...
I say take everything people say with a grain of salt. Obviously people make rash comments that stem from their emotional instability. That being said. I recently purchased the G2x, after hearing a lot of complaining about it. YOu must realize, one is much more likely to go out of his way to make known a complaint, than a praise. Human nature I suppose.
The G2x I got, 2.3.3 July baseband, is flawless. It is an amazing phone. No restarts, no bleed, instant GPS lock.
Im not stating that there are bad phones out there, and I empathize with those that may have recieved a few, but let the first impressions go, and realize that they are not ALL bad.
Dude this phone is beast I had mind since launch and it works great everyday, u will be very happy, to the people still having trouble with there phones take it back get a new one and if its past the 14 days send it to LG u have a year

I dont see how someone can suggest buying a phone that with a few exchanges you might end up with a good one. That makes no sense. My G1 out the box worked, my Mytouch out the box worked, my Nexus One out the box worked, my mytouch 4g out the box worked, hell my HD2 running Android works better than my G2X, and yes, I have tried several.
Dont get me wrong as I must say WHEN my G2X is running right its balls to the walls fast. I think its probably the fastest Android phone available...as long as I dont need GPS or the phone hasnt shut its self off (if I could be so lucky as to have mine reboot) its not bad, not bad at all. Unfortunately I need my GPS, I am a truck driver and rely on my GPS.
I think honestly its an issue with dual cores right now, I would wait for a bit like others have said and pick up something a bit later. Perhaps even wait for ICS since I believe that will be more optimized for dual and quads.
Its your gamble. If you dont mind possibly sending it back, trying out another one with the clear understanding that its a crap shoot at best if its going to work or not go for it. Me personally? I would not buy it again knowing what I know now and what I have been through with this phone.

I totally agree with this. The people in this thread that are urging the OP to go out and get this phone are not being realistic. Some people don't want to keep swapping phones until they get one that doesn't malfunction. Sure the G2X is a great phone WHEN IT WORKS. The problem is those times when it IS NOT working. For people who are locked into their phone and can't leave this may be tolerable. For people who don't mind having to hack their phone for it to have any semblance of reliability may be tolerable. However, for many people that is unacceptable. I think it's best that the OP at least be made aware of the reality of the situation (the state of the G2X and other phones coming soon) and let him make his decision. My opinion is that it doesn't make sense to jump on board with a phone that may potentially have to swap and swap over and over...a phone that even T-Mobile doesn't really want to offer support for anymore. To me it makes more sense to wait since there are better devices coming out in the near future.
If you're going to leave it stock then you may have issues. If you're planning to mod it and flash alternative roms then you're going to love the phone. The hardware is amazing. LG/T-Mobile's version of the android software is buggy.

What he said is correct, stock form doesn't make the hardware justice. I have a vibrant and got my wife the g2x. The first one we got we returned due to random restarts and signal loss. Second one worked ok but returned and cancelled contract because Costco had it for half the price with accessories included. Now my wife hates me tinkering with her phones which I love to do. But after so much complaints from her about not receiving or able to make calls and phone slowing down I convinced her to let me install a custom rom. I installed eagleblood 1.05 and she hasn't complained once anymore and after setting it up and going back to my vibrant which I also run a custom rom and kernel, made my vibe seem to move slow as a turtle. And the screen just looked so much more vibrant as well. It also felt much more "comfortable" , "sturdy" in my hand than my vibrant. Bottom line is if you are lucky enough to get one that doesn't have hardware problems and you are willing to install custom roms on it, then go for it otherwise I would suggest you stick with your vibrant.

In my opinion, one in 3 or 4 of the original phones are good. I've ended up with one of the good ones after 5 tries.
As Sarni sez', this phone is a beast. Does everything I ask of it. Love the full page internet with Dolphin hd. I sold my Sensation and never looked back.
Now LG.......they just stink period.
But my G2X is awesome, everything works. I'm still on Froyo and rooted, I don't want the update.

Will I like this Phone?

Due to several issues with ATT support and service my wife and I paid our ETFs to terminate our contract. The other night we were looking at T-Mobile and found a cheaper but better plan then what is offered by ATT and the free G2Xs, we jumped on board.
My question is will we like this phone? I have been doing some reading and it sounds like there might be some hardware or software issues. What is the general consensus on this forum about the phone overall? I'm coming from an HTC Aria which was rooted and running an AOSP build and I love it. My wife is coming from a 3GS, which she loves but is willing to try Android.
My phone is perfectly fine, I've only run into reboots when messing with voltages in setCPU.
Cyanogenmod nightly and fauxs kernel works brilliantly.
If you like a crazy fast phone with amazing graphics rendering and fantastic sound then you will love the phone. With Gingerbread most of the problems have been mitigated. Plus you got in on the free deal so you can't beat the price.
You'll like it.

Ever since I updated 2.3.3 (did it only to get baseband) phone is solid. Had growing pains but I'm happy with it. Might just sell the myTouch 4G spare I have. I see no need to move back to it.
Just make sure its updated with latest 2.3.3 you can flash a custom ROM. Can't speak for 2.3.3 because haven't used a stock ROM in ages.
Hardware wise its best phone, despite the bad PR
Why come to Tmobile if you are trying to leave AT&T, when it is very possible that Tmobile will be AT&T soon?
I just got my free g2x. My reboots are only when the phone gets hot which is on the wall charger. When it's charging on my PC its fine. I love it though and will give it more time.

Phone is awesome. LG/Tmobile firmware is decent with the GB upgrade. If you flash a custom rom to this thing then it is freaking amazing. Its a very powerful phone. The unlocked bootloader gives us so much freedom for customizing. Whether you decide to flash roms or not, use the nvflash tool in the development section to put clockworkmod recovery on your phones. Its much more useful than stock recovery, and if you ever want to flash a rom you're all set to do so. Just remember to revert back to stock recovery (using the same nvflash tool) if you have to ever return the phones to T-Mobile for any reason.

I set up a thread for how to start up a new G2x

Boils down to, do a full factory restore, inside privacy settings, when it boots up, go to Marketplace search "T-Mobile My Account", install that first. Then proceed as you will.
I have some old chargers for other phones that are the same sized, the stock one is 1w and the others I have are 700 mw and 800mw all 5 volts +/- .2
They charge slower, and keep the temperature down. I have like 3 of these hanging around.
Seriously after my full rest, the phone was noticeable cooler. This on 2.2 might not be valid on 2.3 but likely is
Thanks. I haven't had a reboot in a while but if or when I do I will follow your guide.

Thats for a complete erase restore, not a reboot, which is why its for a new phone or one that you are prepared to have blanked
This phone is a beast! The only issue I'm having is with the visual voicemail app. Any thoughts, it will not progress past account setup

Contact tmobile and have them setup your account with visual voicemail, it's free.
I love this phone, +1 for what everyone else said. Its got its issues but its still the best phone out there. The screen resolution IMO beats out any Samsung samoled, hands down. The bad news for you though is that it's more than likely going to be a snafu for you if you go with tmo. It looks like att will be buying them as of next year some time. I hear the FCC will approved this. I hope its not true. Gl

My phone works fine now after about 5-6 of them but their giving this phone away for free for a reason and that's because its a piece of crap. Never has a phone with this good a specs gone down in price so quickly and even given away for free for the second or third time. Probably should of got a HTC Sensation or MT4G Slide would of definitely been better of.

My previous phone was a HTC Aria, small and under powered compared to the new phones on the market. That being said I love the Aria; easy to root and very durable. I have looked into newer HTC devices and I have "read" that the sensation has some design issues or flaws with the screen? Digitizer? I don't think you'll find a phone out there without problems. I gave the G2X a try because I didn't want to spend any money on new phones considering I have paid my way out of an ATT contract. If the Phone is crap I can go back to my unlocked Aria.
You will run into many problems like auto shutdown/reboot, screen bleed and hit/miss wifi. This phone doesn't work out of the box. Don't waste your time on this phone. I would wait for next Nexus or a Galaxy S2.

Have you ever considered running errant apps has caused your problems? My G2X has been updated to GB, never reboots, never lockups, the wifi is perfect and screen bleed is a non issue. I never use my phone in a dark room with the brightness turned all the way up with a black background. That is the only way to see the so-called screen bleed. All IPS backlight displays have it, and I have had it on every notebook I have ever owned. It is normal and for normal usage a complete non issue. I am using my phone stock and unrooted.

Trading my Samsung Galaxy 4G for a G2x

Hi guys!
I'm trading my SGS4G for a G2x, and have been reading some of the threads on the forums. Some of the issues I can look past, like the updating to ICS or dev support, but the random rebooting, 3G/4G issues are starting to worry me. Are these people just insanely unlucky or does this happen to plague way more G2X's? The phone seems absolutely phenomenal, and personally dev support seems to be perfectly fine. I just don't want to trade for a phone and end up being one of those unlucky people.

Well it seems like the newer batch of G2x's are the good ones and the bad ones were the first batch. Just a theory though. But how are you getting the G2x? Craigslist or via TMO?
It's best to get a G2x that already has the GB build pre installed as you'll already have the latest baseband and a better chance to have the newer batch.
If you do happen to get a good one like I did then it's a no brainer. It's way better than the SGS4G. And you have CM7, seems like the SGS4G will never get CM7.
My phone suffers from random reboots despite having gb from factory.

Craigslist, I already plan on looking for any bleeding, and throwing my sim card in to test everything out, but the rebooting issue seems to be a wait and see. :/

Yeah, I got mine via CL as well trading my MT4G.
I have minimal bleed but I honestly never notice it unless it's on full brightness and it's on a black screen. Just flash CM7 as soon as you can, that has solved some people's rebooting issue.
What if that doesn't? Would I just be SOL or do I go through the whole replacement hell that some people seem to be going through? Screen bleeding I can deal with if its minimal. SOD and random rebooting would drive me insane.
Not to bum you out but if someone is trading G2X for sg4g on craigslist, the phone probably has issues.

I'm adding money towards it, not a even trade. Also, I'm assuming since the phone was released in march, the 1 year warranty is still on it.

95% of the general public don't know as much as we do about phones. I traded my MT4G for the G2x from some girl that wanted my MT4G purely because it ran Sense and she didn't like the G2x's stock Android.
So you'd be surprised the good deals you see on CL.
I got my G2x from Amazon for 250$ thinking it was gonna be a O2x but nope got this already GB and since I put CM7 nightlies 180+ I have had no issues!
Love my G2x
This phone has the same potential as all super phones, I just think some people need to use the phone as it is and stop trying to benchmark it comparing it other phones. Its fast and reliable and you wont be dissapointed!

Rule of thumb, the stock software is garbage. Gingerbread update helps a ton, but just know that the software from LG sucks.
My neighbor used the stock Gingerbread for a while without many issues. Just know the custom roms will fix most things.
Stock based rom = random reboots/Black Screen of Death (find it in your pocket unable to power up = battery pull). Best rom (IMO) = Weapon
CM7 based rom= Pretty good anymore. They used to have Cellular Data issues but I think they got it worked out. Haven't had any problems with my recent CM7 Nightly. Best rom (IMO) = CM7 Stable. Nightlies are fun but bugs are hit and miss although to be expected.
MIUI (CM7 based) rom = No WiFi Calling. Everything else worked very well. It is typically a week or two behind CM7 development.
I had no problems with stock GB other than being able to root it, otherwise I would have kept it :/

So basically rooting will fix the issue? And I love my Samsung, I just feel it's time to upgrade, and the g2x is in my budget and it's a awesome phone. Although, my only gripe about the phone would be the cheap feeling.

How much more are you paying for the G2x?
Powered by a G2x
I added 40 dollars to it.
The G2X is brand new basically, no scratches what so ever. Everything works, double checked again and again (pretty sure the guy was getting annoyed with me, oh well.) and it works beautifully. Even charged it for about 4 hours to see if the SOD would happened and it hasn't, nor has it rebooted randomly. TIME TO ROOT IT!

That's exactly how much I added to mine as well to get the G2x.
Just use the NVFlash method to get CWM and you're good to go. You don't even necessarily need root to flash ROM's for the G2x.
i just recently bought a G2X off CL for $200, then turned around and sold my HD2 for $200 on CL. haven't had any major issues with my phone. came with GB pre-installed. haven't decided on if i wanna flash a new rom on it or not. i dont see a need to right now.

An official ICS release. \\This is not news, tips or how-to's.\\

I better get an ice cream sandwich after having to deal with your crap HTC. This device was full of flaws when I bought it. That was inexcusable after paying top dollar for it. Verizon (Ripoff Mobile, Inc.) was too uptight to do anything about it. I would not be surprised if all the official talk was nothing more than hot air in the end. At least developers are working on a version. I am so glad I finally had some time to get root permissions on this phone. Did you feel betrayed after buying your TBolt? To be honest, I would have bought a marked down model if I had of know ahead of time what was going to happen.

Easy killer. My phone has worked mostly fine since day one. Sure there were some software issues (random reboots due to the LTE radio, GPS, the most annoying), but that is to be expected when you buy bleeding edge technology. This was the first Verizon LTE smartphone, EVER.
That being said, the device is still on par with other top devices today. I haven't upgraded, because I haven't found another device I like that much better than this. The Nexus is nice, but I'm not big on the light flimsy build of those phones, plus samsung is notorious for poor reliability. Motorola screen's have been awful so far, or I would have considered the Razr Maxx.
Bottom line...why don't you cry about it...
BTW, there is nothing special about ICS. Sure it's nice to have the newest thing, but there really isn't that much to get excited about. I still don't understand why honey comb and ICS got rid of the search button. I use that thing constantly.
I have to say I've been 99% happy with this phone since release.
The 1% was the odd rebooting issue I had for 4 weeks in aprilish.

Honestly I've liked this phone since I first got it, battery life sucked but that was nothing rooting and loading a rom couldn't fix. Other than that I'm still happy with my purchase.
I especially like it cause me and my girlfriend got phones from a good batch, handles low voltages and overclocking even up to 1.8 (not needed though) perfectly.
Thanks to all the developers who have been developing for the thunderbolt since day one, and all that are continuing to do so!

Let's see.
1. The phone was the Flagship phone for LTE and was released with Froyo.
2. The phone was buggy at release and still shows some issues.
3. Not everyone's phone was "perfect out of teh box". Some of us had to get replacements multiple times to get a *good one*.
4. ICS does have improvements over Froyo and GB.
5. Official OTA release of ICS will allow devs to create much better ROMs for this phone, rather approaching it by piecemealing parts from other Official ROMs.
6. Lastly, this phone was sold at a premium price and VZW's/HTC's support has been lackluster to be kind about it.
Note: I don't know the OP from Adam, but your experience, like mine, is anecdotal and not indicative of all others. VZW screwed the pooch on the roll-out and
HTC screwed the pooch on the releases of updates, support and finally, by rushing the damn thing out the door before it was ready.

That's with any phone these days. I haven't had a single smartphone I haven't had to replace for one reason or another.
On a side note, the Tbolt isn't the only flagship phone with problems. The Galaxy Nexus has really bad call connectivity problems from what I hear, and that's supposed to be the MAIN function of a PHONE. lolz
All i will buy is htc. I know updates are slow to come. I also dont care. The newest isnt always the best, there are usually a fresh set of bugs to work out. That being said, the devs here and other sites give me enough variety to satisfy me. If you dont like the process, learn to code.

If you care, go call them and say what you said directly as it will do far more good for you and for the community.
I moved onto a Nexus, but I still use my Thunderbolt for development testing apps I make. Not even the Nexus is perfect though as the internal antennas are not as powerful at picking up data. My db is usually 10-15db worse than the thunderbolt. However, I would not trade my Nexus for any other phone as I got tired of having to wait on HTC and Verizon for updates on the Thunderbolt.
i just lol at this thread.
Im an HTC fan. I got my tbolt on launch day and have never had an issue (not saying some havent) but I couldn't be happier.
Still have yet to find one phone on the market that has everything the tbolt has (not including dual core, which has not really impressed me) and still think it is a top 4g phone.
I would buy it all over again. We have received everything promised so far & it would be a nightmare for HTC to not give us ICS after they confirmed it...
I also have to say that Verizon did not screw up or delay the launch. There was never an official launch date given from them or HTC until the week before release, as is the norm with their releases. All other dates were made up by the internet and people.
HTC released about 6 updates to the phone between march and September, I think that is pretty good at keeping on top of it..

I got the TB for $49 bucks new when I dropped T-Mobile. Rooted it the day I got it home and have never had a single problem with it that I cannot blame on bugs in the ROM or me OCing the crap out of it.
Everyones phone is gonna be better or worse than the next guy. Did we get screwed by Verizon??? Show me where in writing the promise a full ICS upgrade and you will see thousands of TB owners lining up to sue the piss off Verizon and HTC.
If you are gonna stay up on the newest devices, Hopefully you are not paying retail for the devices, Shop around and you will be amazed at what you can find.
I have a galaxy nexus just sitting on stand-by cause i've had no problems with my tbolt, besides the dev slowing down i really have no problems with my tbolt and has been my favorite phone. while it would be nice to get ICS soon im not tripping about it, my contract for the thunderbolt ends in december much wait and see what comes out by then.

The two people I know with a nexus have had quite a few issues with their phones.. biggest problems being being signal and when leaving WiFi they don't get data until turning their data off and back on... Point is what ever phone you go to there will be something that bugs you about it and the update that fixes your problem will never come out fast enough.. be happy for what you have..

I've always been one to have a new rom every week but this one's been so good with battery life and everything that I haven't even tried another one. I love this phone. On another note, my brother got the same phone and has had problems. Just like any other electronic item, you might get a dud.
