So after 3 weeks of having an Amaze that went sour (that turned out to have a fraudulent IMEI) I'm back to the Sensation. Didn't realize how much I miss this phone!
BTW - The Amaze I had got a little dust under the screen. Not a lot, but like 2 particles. Just saying so because everyone has said the Amaze is dust-free.
Also the Sensation forums are just, well, nicer. Glad to be back. Feels like home.

I bought what I thought was a good/new Amaze off eBay. Worked fine for 3 weeks then refused to get a signal. After talking to T-Mobile support they determined that the IMEI on the Amaze was blacklisted due to a report of that being stolen. So they had turned that phone off from getting a signal. I emailed the seller on eBay and right away he told he would refund me the money and I'd send him back the Amaze.
Lesson learned.

Yeah, thankfully I would have eBay and PayPal on my side also if needed.

T-Mobile just told me to try to contact the person I bought it from to try to get my money back. They showed no interest in trying to get it back to the original owner.

Yep. This happened to mine as well. This was a common problem with the Nexus One, and it looks like HTC never figured out a way to make a decent lock button. I would kill to have an iPhone-style click to that button.
I'll send it in for warranty before the year is up. But my phone is unlocked and has the nice SLCD, and it would be a pitty to get some junky refurb in exchange. For anyone who has RMA'd HTC phones before: will they actually repair your phone's component, or do they just mail you a refurb?

I had the same issue, it was after my first 14 days and Customer Care would only send me a refurb. I went into the store where they sold it and showed the manager and he was just like "let's get you a new phone". He said the mytouch line has a special policy where they can do in-store only exchanges evan after the 14 day period.
Noooooooooooooooooooooo man wtf I went to a T-Mobile store and the manager always dodges me but they only told me to call customer service sucks ballssss

T-Mo won't do an in-store trade for a phone you didn't buy from them. For that matter I'm not even sure the manufacturer warranty transfers if the original buyer sells it.

Did you call T-Mobile customer care or HTC customer care. And did you need proof of purchase etc
Called t-mobile cust care...no need for proof of purchase...i actually bought my mt4g under a different number but put my sim in it first so the warranty is with my number...
My power button is hard to press now. It takes two/three presses to function. My phone is new so I called tmobile and they said there is nothing they can do as far as that issue. It isnt a known issue as far as the device. Has anyone noticed this? Or am I crazy lol? I looked online and some people say they were able to get a replacement. I think I will call again tomorrow. Is there a quick fix or should I just prepare to ship it in to tmobile and start the unrooting process.

It shouldnt even be an issue, as long as you have insurance. I got mine from an XDA member, had one of the bad screens, and I called the night I got it to swap it out.

Called htc and they said the same thing. Tmobile said they cant do anything and htc as well. For some reason they are saying that my phone was never registered and I cant get a warranty exchange for my device.

this is my first mytouch 4g. i sorta blame it on myself but the phone is in perfect condition. im pretty much stuck with it until i buy the g2x next week

also i know money people wont look at this post but the same thing happened to my nexus one, the phone is perfectly fine but i guess months of pressing it too hard to get it into boot loader etc etc.. depressed the button underneath the powerbutton so nowi have a nexus on my draw that i cant get fixed htc said theys do it for 198 or 98 one of the 2 either way they can suck it im sure its not that hard to fix
so everyone take it easy on your power buttons they mess up every now and then
as for waranty and insurance i dont have any i think the insurance company is a rip off 6 dollars a month to just send u a refurbished phone that will have the same problem if not a new one in a couple of weeks if not months.
So after much debating I decided to finally get rid of my g2x since I've been using the sensation more and more. I was planning on selling it about a week ago but the vibration motor died out on me. Today I finally received my replacement from tmobile and to my big surprise the one I got has no light bleeding at all!! So I figured I would post it here right away before posting it on ebay seeing as pretty much everyone has been complaining about the issue.
I will upload some pictures later since im using the phone app right now. I still have the original box and everything that came with it plus two cases that ill throw in there for free.

Yeah I would pay $200-250 for an extra G2x but no more really. It would be tempting at that price
I've been thinking about getting a backup one for a while now. *hint hint*
I bought mine on eBay for $255 plus shipping in excellent condition. The ones that were in mint condition only went for slightly (maybe $20) more. $300 would be the ultimate top end if you got super lucky.
I pretty much said $320 for negotiation purposes lol. Probably will end up going for around $300

Well I saw his post and figured I had two options make my own which would still be a form of hijacking...his then mine and if I undercut in mine I'd be screwing him... Or just post in his let him know my intent is to not compete but be equal so that they can both go. Thought it was the more mature approach. However it's always easy to see maturity doesn't go far on xda.

everything on it is perfect, good screen, good chip, great hardware, very solid build, and of course, ROOTED AND SPORTING VIRTUOUS UNITY!!!
Mine is quite tough too. Iv dropped it a lot. It has been a tough little phone for me I love mine.

With unlimited and 10 gigs of data I pay about $110 a month. I,myself, barley use 350 mins (mainly text). With the double data and 450 it comes out to be $120 for Verizon where I am at. I'll be happy to pay a few bucks more for their network and less dropped calls.

I've had several drops too but its still trucking /me knocks on wood.
I've dropped mine hundreds of times even once while running where it projectiled my genius button right out the phone never to be found in the grass..... And its still running as good as the day I bought it

Don't get the Amaze! I bought it for my girlfriend since it had basically the same hardware as the Sensation, and I loved my Sensation. Completely difficult to do any kind of hacking or flashing, and there is NO development over in their dev threads next to some high school themers.
I guess I can't complain because I haven't/can't contribute to the development. But just a fair warning.

that's strange.. im on t-mobile US as well and they sent me a sensation to cover for my mytouch 4g a few weeks ago.. they told me i could choose between mytouch 4g slide or sensation so of course i went with the sensation hope you enjoy your new device
