[APP][1.6+][ROOT] - BackDrop Root (Backup Apps / Data / Settings to Dropbox) - Android Apps and Games

Hi All,
I just published BackDrop Root to the Market and I'm looking for some feedback...
What is BackDrop Root?
BackDrop Root allows you to backup and restore your applications, data, SMS / MMS messages, Wifi settings, Bluetooth pairings, and more to and from from Dropbox.
Backdrop Root provides a simple and intuitive interface for managing your backups.

Works great!
Thanks AW!

Working great, a few quick feature requests:
* Specify the folder to backup/restore from in the Dropbox account
* Scheduling backups?
* Support for other backup services in future? Minus? Box? SugarSync?
Bought a key to support your work.
Thanks.

Thanks for the support! Scheduling backups and support for other backup services are something I am considering in the near future. Specifying a folder to backup to / restore from would be a little more complicated, but is also do-able... I'd have to gauge the interest level on that one.
Thanks again!

Name change
FYI - I renamed BackDrop to "BackDrop Root" so it's easier to find in the Market.

Took it for a spin. Pretty spiffy. Cheaper than Titanium, too (I'd probably buy it right now if I hadn't bought Titanium already).
Things that would win me over (in order of priority):
Ability to keep multiple backups, not just latest (on a per-app basis. Some apps, I wouldn't care, others have data that I might occasionally want to roll back)
Optional Encryption. I don't really want to store my SMS in plain text on Dropbox
Trigger a CWM NANdroid backup, then sync this to Dropbox.
Evil-Dragon's ideas (so all suggestions are in one place)
Scheduling backups?
Support for other backup services in future? Minus? Box? SugarSync?
Specify the folder to backup/restore from in the Dropbox account

Exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks mate, will let you know how I get on

Definitely great ideas and pretty much all are on my to-do list.

On rooted transformer prime, and it doesn't restore data just the apk.

Great idea. I tried to backup my sms with your first release and now the restore of SMS doesn't work. I even updated your app, but still error. The phone crashes.
Glad to find a way of restoring your backup manually via RootExplorer.

When you add ICS support?
Because service freeze on restore...
btw, good app, but too much bugs for now on different phones/systems...

just restored some game data, worked perfectly. definitely buying the full version

Just posted v1.0.9 to the Market... Can you give that a try?

Any chance of adding a link to market on restoring applications. I've had real problems after restoring with backdrop and then relinking with titanium backup. If backdrop did this as part of restoring then it would solve these problems. Hopefully.

I get "Backup failed (with errors)" anytime I try to backup anything. Rooted Galaxy Nexus w/latest busybox and dropbox apps.
Titanium backup has no issues with creating backups.

Would be really useful for me but seems any development has stopped unfortunately.

Great app, thanks.
I would also appreciate encryption.

shame that dev seems to have stopped on this. was hoping for scheduled backups

Well I don't find a reason why I should not have it on my phone. Also TiBk cannot backup contacts.
Very clear interface, easy to use, does the job of several apps. Only thing missing, 4 me at least, is a "freeze app" capability. Otherwise excellent app, keep up the good work.
It is possible to add option to start schedule backup at definied time?

Easy App Toolbox

Hey everyone!
My next creation is finished (well, the first beta version of it ) -> Easy App Toolbox.
It aims to be a wide collection of tool to handle your apps. For the beginning it contains the following features:
Share/Send apps (via Gmail, Facebook, Whatsapp, etc...)
Backup and Restore to/from Dropbox
Backup and Restore to/from Google Drive
Backup and Restore to/from Box.net
Backup and restore to/from SD card
Backup to PC
App details (permissions, activities, services, files and folders, etc...)
The app does NOT need root access!
As usual, I'm very curious about your feedback!
Grab the app at the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.goddchen.android.easyapptoolbox
or via QR code:

sms backup will be some custom format (JSON or something). But what format would you suggest for backing up contacts? vcard? So that you can use the saved files in your Dropbox/Box/Drive in other apps, too?
I think it vcard is the best choice, is it?

If you look some posts earlier, we agreed that this is an APP toolbox, and contact sync has nothing to do with APPs But I'm thinking about releasing a separate app for this.

Nice, tks for your work.

Hey thank you very much for this great app. We really need a Dropsync for google drive.
However, I just noticed it is only one way sync... Will you update it in the future to 2-way sync?
App data sync is not important for me, but having automatic syncing folders with my books and docs is a really life saver
good job!
Looks very good. But missing some important features like
- previous mentioned 2-way sync
- AES local offline encryption
Encryption is a must have feature for me.
Would be great if you can implement these feature requests.
The important thing I miss in the official app and yours is to search inside the document. Its a big deal for me and I dont know how to solve it.
Nice idea and much needed :good:
It would be nice if external sdcard folders were supported for syncing. Also, support for syncing at particular times/dates would be great

+2. External sd card is something I would love to have, I'd probably buy the donate version for that.
Thank you for this app, we really need this but as said before, 2 ways please and extsd support.
I found a bug, trying to create a new folder directly from the app, i get a notification that is done but the folder doens't appear on the list.
Here's another vote for 2-way sync and extsd support!
I'd love to stop using DropSync and instead rely on syncing with my GDrive.
is there any news regarding the 2way sync? thats the only thing i need
Keep trying these, thought this was the one, worked ok on my rooted droid, even with the 2 limit. But as others have said most storage is done on ext sdcard and without access to the mount /mnt/sdcard one has with root, no way to access a phones main datastore. What a shame. They probably should note ROOT REQUIRED!
And after almost a year? DEAD APP or what?
5 minutes to edit? Guess I should try another forum?
Syncing like a dream for my sd and helium backup apps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/dro...4-4-su-6-7-t3117552/post61150725#post61150725
No root needed for the gdrive sync, just for Helium.

[APP][2.3+] List My Apps

> On Google Play > Sideloading
Question: Hi, I'm new to Android. Which apps must I absolutely have?
Answer: Uhm, give me a minute to pen down the list (again)
Ever found yourself in this situation on a forum, on Reddit, Facebook, in a chat, or any other place? Wish you had an easy and painless way of quickly compiling a list of apps installed on your Droid? List My Apps does exactly that! It presents you with an inventory of your device, giving you the ability to select which apps to recommend to your friends on your favorite social network.
Output of LMA is fully customizable through the build-in template editor, with the following standard formats already defined out of the box for your convenience:
Plain text
HTML list (useful for Drupal)
BBCode list (used by most forums)
Markdown list (use this on Reddit).
All formats can conveniently link apps back to the market from which they were installed (or to Google Search if no source can be determined).
List My Apps. Is free and open source software. For more information, sideloading options or to leave a tip, please visit my website.

List My Apps is pretty much superior in every way:
Modern Design
App Selection
Template driven, customizable output
Automatically generates links to where the app can be gotten from
Extracts more information from the app
Ok, had to fix some bugs. v2.1 should no longer crash when pausing while scanning and hopefully I resolved all layout issues
And a new version with some minor bugfixes, a new default template and the ability to get an item count.
Will give it a try...

A new month, a new version. Enjoy!
Excellent App man, the concept is not new but your app is way intutive than others, Kudos for the good app, looking forward seeing future enhancements!
A very nice & easy app to use. As I tend to ROM my phone every so often, I want / need a way to quickly install the essential apps (rather than letting Google restore everything). I had been using AppMonster to do this but your HTML list gives me exactly what I want - a simple list with hyperlinks to the Play store that I can run from my PC.
What about extending the app (if possible) to allow you to select which apps from the list you want installed and have the app go get & install from the Play store - would make 'building' your device after a fresh ROM soooo much easier. Currently, I go to the Play store on PC and search / install from there. Example;
- install ROM & login to Google account
- install List My Apps
- recover saved application list from SDCard / dropbox
- select required apps for install
- make a cup of tea and say thank you to onyxbits
Thanks

What about using Titanium Backup for restoring your apps? Works like a charm and also restores your app data, if you so please.
I'll admit though, that you need the Pro version for the best user experience (unattended restore).

I do use Titanium for restores but IMHO it's always simpler if you install the app from the play store then restore data. I've found issues in the past where the app doesn't function properly or update itself.

True, some apps do have issues after restoring their data. And you say the app data can be restored if the app gets a fresh install? That never occurred to me.

Interesting idea. There's just one catch: Google doesn't let you download the APK files. I recall there being an unofficail library for it, but I'm not sure if it's safe to use.

You just need a network connection. Features is unlocked by watching several videos or installing a couple of apps
how
i have an network connection dude how to watching several videos or installing a couple of apps to get full features can you give step by step procedure i like your app and want to try full features in your app
You should go to "Settings" on the right pane of the main screen and tap on "Synchronization".
After that you'll see the list of offers with videos and apps. By clicking on them you'll receive Points which are needed to unlock the feature.
The same list will appear when you add new category while adding new transaction.
Of course, if you want you can just buy Pro version and get all the features unlocked)
not working
i have followed your procedure and pressed the dropbox option it opes two option one to google play store to buy and another update points after that when i press both option it does not go either to playstore or shows how to increase points it strucks there and shows no internet connection while i am having internet connection and all my rest apps are working fine kindly fix that bug and try to add lock option
Fix is coming soon
"Get on Google Play" button will be fixed today. Thank you for pointing it out!
If you see "Refresh" button it means that your network connection is not stable. You could try to find more powerful signal

The main goal of Monefy is to help you to track the expenses very easy. If an app is too complicated, it is boring to add all transactions. We really want to avoid it

I don't think it would make your app complicated for the user, in fact it is a major feature great in demand by most users.
This feature can be added while maintaining the simplicity of app. For example you may swipe on the main app screen to change between accounts.

Sounds reasonable. I'll consider adding this feature in the future
Thanks a lot!
Just discovered this AMAZING app. I was using Financius (good app but too simple). I tried a lot of others apps, but none of them have all the features this app has. Not to mention that the interface is really easy to use. It's nearly perfect! I will definitely recommend it.
As a suggestion, it would be great to have some sort of graphs mode (like Spendee) to see the ups and downs and the overall of the money flow.
