Question: Hi, I'm new to Android. Which apps must I absolutely have?
Answer: Uhm, give me a minute to pen down the list (again)
Ever found yourself in this situation on a forum, on Reddit, Facebook, in a chat, or any other place? Wish you had an easy and painless way of quickly compiling a list of apps installed on your Droid? List My Apps does exactly that! It presents you with an inventory of your device, giving you the ability to select which apps to recommend to your friends on your favorite social network.
Output of LMA is fully customizable through the build-in template editor, with the following standard formats already defined out of the box for your convenience:
Plain text
HTML list (useful for Drupal)
BBCode list (used by most forums)
Markdown list (use this on Reddit).
All formats can conveniently link apps back to the market from which they were installed (or to Google Search if no source can be determined).
List My Apps. Is free and open source software. For more information, sideloading options or to leave a tip, please visit my website.

I use App Dragon App Lister
does a decent job of saving a text file of all apps with the version details and also can email the list.

List My Apps is pretty much superior in every way:
Modern Design
App Selection
Template driven, customizable output
Automatically generates links to where the app can be gotten from
Extracts more information from the app
Ok, had to fix some bugs. v2.1 should no longer crash when pausing while scanning and hopefully I resolved all layout issues
And a new version with some minor bugfixes, a new default template and the ability to get an item count.
Will give it a try...

A new month, a new version. Enjoy!
Excellent App man, the concept is not new but your app is way intutive than others, Kudos for the good app, looking forward seeing future enhancements!
A very nice & easy app to use. As I tend to ROM my phone every so often, I want / need a way to quickly install the essential apps (rather than letting Google restore everything). I had been using AppMonster to do this but your HTML list gives me exactly what I want - a simple list with hyperlinks to the Play store that I can run from my PC.
What about extending the app (if possible) to allow you to select which apps from the list you want installed and have the app go get & install from the Play store - would make 'building' your device after a fresh ROM soooo much easier. Currently, I go to the Play store on PC and search / install from there. Example;
- install ROM & login to Google account
- install List My Apps
- recover saved application list from SDCard / dropbox
- select required apps for install
- make a cup of tea and say thank you to onyxbits
Thanks
Very useful.. Thanks works really well..
Nice idea... Is there available on google play store?
Thanks,

I used to use appbrain to do exactly this.
It would be great to have a backup plan in case the google automated recovery of apps fails (happens frequently when installing a fresh rom)

What about using Titanium Backup for restoring your apps? Works like a charm and also restores your app data, if you so please.
I'll admit though, that you need the Pro version for the best user experience (unattended restore).

I do use Titanium for restores but IMHO it's always simpler if you install the app from the play store then restore data. I've found issues in the past where the app doesn't function properly or update itself.

True, some apps do have issues after restoring their data. And you say the app data can be restored if the app gets a fresh install? That never occurred to me.

Interesting idea. There's just one catch: Google doesn't let you download the APK files. I recall there being an unofficail library for it, but I'm not sure if it's safe to use.
PS: Sorry for the late reply, was working on my latest app and didnt check here.
Another day, another version. New stuff:
Apps can now be tagged and selected as a group
More variables
Social recommendation feature
And another release:
* Under the hood bugfix
* Added ${tags} variable.

Personal opinion, this is a list of Android apps that you should have on your Android device. Of course, there are hundreds of thousands of apps in Google Play, if you like any others and think they are "must-have apps", free to leave a comment below.
1. Dropbox
Everyone knows what Dropbox is and if you don’t you should get it. Cloud storage for all your devices so you can access files from anywhere, on any of your devices. An extremely helpful app that is free and uses someone Else’s storage space.

2. AirDroid
Transfer just about anything you can think back and forth between PC and your device over Wi-Fi with AirDroid. As well as that you can send messages, update contacts, change ringtones and control most things you would want to from your computer, all through a web-based interface.
3. SMS Backup and Restore
If you are an Android User who has a rooted device and tests out new Roms regularly, but wish to keep your SMS messages on your phone, or maybe if you are just a bit of a paranoid parrot, then SMS Backup and Restore is an app for you.
4. Moborobo
Don’t waste the seconds it takes to open up your browser and type in moborobo.com. Moborobo is a leading Android Smartphone Management Software that can be installed on your Windows PC. With Moborobo, the management of your Android Smartphone becomes fun and easy. Manage contact data: Sort, find, organize and backup your contact data, such as your contact list as well as your messages. You can create groups for your contacts and import/export them between your pc and your device.
5. Pocket
Pocket is an Android app that allows you to save web content to view later. Saving the content within the Pocket Android App, you can view it at your leisure at any time on your Android device, or even send the list to an email to be accessible from wherever you like.
6. Google Maps
Google Maps is one of the most useful apps available for Android. Plot courses, get guided towards your destination or just look for better paths. Google Maps is an excellent GPS navigation tool for Android users.
7. Wikipedia
Open up your browser and type in Wikipedia.com. Open the Android app and type in your search that is sure to deliver you with the best Wikipedia results for your search terms. Provides all Wikipedia function so get it now.
8. Angry Birds(multiple incarnations)
It seems like everyone in the world has or have had a go at Angry Birds. Don’t get left behind as someone who hasn’t experienced it. Plus, it’s a great time waster for those periods of utter boredom. A new version with new game mechanics is released every now and then, so the fun will never run out with Angry Birds.
9. Go Launcher EX
Go Launcher EX might not be as fancy looking as some of the launchers that specialize in animations and cool effects, but I dare say it's more functional than many of them. My own reason for using it has a lot to do with the widgets, both in terms of functionality and the ability to make them look the same.
Well, those are my own favour. Sure, not everyone will enjoy all of these apps. You can provide what you are interested in. Or if you like the list of apps, you can have a try!
It will be a bit Captain Obvious-ish but here goes:
* Titanium Backup
*AnTuTu Benchmark
*No-frills CPU / SetCPU
*System Tuner
*ES File Explorer
*Link2SD
*Google Googles
*AK Notepad (Straightforward Notepad App, very useful if you have a memory capacity like me - as much as a fish)
*(Optional, for campers, xtreme sports nuts etc.) US Army Survival Guide
Never heard of Air Droid. Definitely a fan of transfering things over wifi. Currently use SwifTP. Will try Air Droid. Thanks
.
Thread moved. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.
Thanks for the list. I've just discovered AirDroid because of it and must say I love it.
I've been using Quick Settings by halfbit since the G1 days. I like how you can add it to the notification bar. I would link to it, but I'm a new user.

Yeah, AirDroid is absolutly wonderful and the interface is quite beautiful after connect through WiFi. But it does not have the backup and restore feature. I thought it a pity. So I sometimes use Moborobo to backup my data. I will use many similar apps at the same time so that I can manage my device better.
You guys forgot the most important apps of all, and the only reason for some of us to buy a smartphone.
google voice and grooveip = free phone service.
I've also been using advanced wifi lock, because my x10 mini w/cm-8 won't follow the wifi keepalive setting.
thats obvious! the dialer is the most essential app on my phone. next are contacts and calendar. the rest is optional
I think you can now add Flipboard to the list.
[APP] Flipboard for Android
droidwall to control the apps that can connect to internet (wifi or 3g)
titanium back up
es file explorer
adfree (to remove ads)
3g watchdog!
thats from me
Avast Anti-virus/protection.

By this statement you just lost one of your downloading people (me), and if it wasn't for that it's all the exclamation marks and capslock in the OP.
Still I want to give you feedback for your app: It might have potential (even if it's far less than you think it has), but transparency was cool in 1998, and the same is true for the icons. Make it Holo White/Dark/both.
Good work! good idea! but I get a NullPointerExeption and the app crash! This appen when I scroll down the listview in the sdcard tab...

Nice fake reviews.
Ads....gross....no thanx. It looks and sounds pretty nice but i HATE ads...especially since your ad free version will only be available in your roms...come on
Hey OP, your over-enthusiastic promotion will cost you users. Try not promoting the app, and it will promote for itself. Plus the design sucks. We need a minimalist layout. Try looking on dribbble for cool layouts. And if you promise to be as promising as your OP promises, well you can be promised some users. The thing is there are so many file managers like es and cm's that aren't even considered by me as an additional download. In order to counter tgem, you really need some innovatively-revolutionising ideas, like for example a built-in fridge or microwave. You get the point.
The thing that gets me is(other then the questionable ui) what does this bring us that root explorer does not already do? Sure it's not free but it is worth every penny and it does:
multiple tabs, Google Drive, Box, Dropbox and network (SMB) support, SQLite database viewer, Text Editor, create and extract zip or tar/gzip files, extract rar archives, multi-select, execute scripts, search, remount, permissions, bookmarks, send files (via email, bluetooth etc), image thumbnails, APK binary XML viewer, change file owner/group, create symbolic link, "Open With" facility, MD5, create shortcuts.
I have used it since my first android phone and have never found myself in a situation that i wanted to do something with files and it would not do it.

Chrome APK Packager is a convenient way to produce Chrome ARChon Custom Runtime packages directly from your phone.
You can generate chrome packages from either APKs on your phones storage, or from apps installed on your phone (It will pull APK)
Open the App, select an APK or App from list. App Name and package name are both pulled from the APK and put into the manifest.json file. Everything is then zipped together in a ChromeAPK folder on your phones storage.
Requires https://github.com/vladikoff/chromeos-apk/blob/master/archon.md ARChon Custom Runtime which allows for "unlimited" number of android apps to be installed. (Google Runtime is limited to 4 apps.)
App is now open source! https://github.com/bpear96/Chrome-APK-Packager
TODO:
Allow orientation/mode to be changed (landscape/tablet)
Sort installed app selection alphabetically
Better UI
Local web server to be able to push files to chromebook (maybe)
Easily share generated zip (To Google drive, email etc)

Completely redesigned app. Should be simpler to use and understand. Thanks to this awesome library https://github.com/Nimrodda/WizarDroid

Alpha 3:
APK Icon is now extracted and packaged for chrome.
Using Tydi Icon Thanks! Really appreciate it.

Yup that is my next step . Just got apps sorted alphabetically. So will begin working on that now. Shouldn't be too complicated.
with this,we can collect app and open together ??
Awesome!
Could a new feature be implemented where every time the APK is updated from the Play Store, a new Chrome Package is automatically generated?
Sweet! Could I request a couple things though?
1. Allow for custom icons and/or extract the one within the apk
2. In addition to formfactor and orientation, add "resize":"scale" to the manifest.jeon
3. This might be difficult, but root access, and copy necessary data and obb files from /system
Great work man!

fabulous but need tablet mode

Trying to get the Plume App to work.
I've come so close to getting Plume (3rd party Twitter app) to work. Chrome will open the app and the Android Logo will appear, and it won't do anything beyond that. I'm running Chrome Beta, whether that makes any difference or not.
Why not publishing it on the Play Store?
settings bug
Very beautiful and useful app !!! But in the version 2 doesn't function the settings button. I Will wait for the support of apk with obb for google chrome
Am I doing something wrong?
I've loaded many apps on my Chromebox. Unzip'ed all the apk's and loaded them as extensions. All of the apps just sit at the Android Logo screen, and don't do anything. Do I need to do something else to get them going? I've tried these apps: Snapseed, Plume & Photo Mate R2.

Actually it was to include your app into F-Droid repo.
1/ 2/ I think there are free tools for these purposes. I don't remember the names, though.
3/ What is FCM?
4/ Is this specific to Firebase ('accross devices'). I have already seen import/export feature into FLOSS apps like AFWall+.

1 & 2: I was using Fabric for the old version but then since Firebase got acquired by Google, i thought of centralizing things and rely on one service instead of multiple to reduce Complexity.
3: Firebase Cloud Messaging (AKA Google Cloud Messaging) its for push notifications. (No spam trust me :laugh
4- FA does not require you to export & import its stuff which is abit of tedious thing to do, instead FA offers you to click Backup on your lets say primary device & then lets say in your secondary device you click restore and that's it, whatever you have in your primary phone from settings, folders & apps will be in your secondary device without the hassle of doing them manually. i think this is a really cool feature that unfortunately nobody still know about it. i need to find a way tho to let FA users knows about it and use it, because its an awesome adds-on.
I'm thinking of adding Widgets for the future, maybe in version 11.0.0 it would be nice to have some floating Widgets that you can access them seamlessly, but it's still just an idea and haven't really yet start working on it as im currently working on Making a Github client that really suites me & i think it will suites others as the current ones in the Playstore are just either tooo ugly (no offense), featureless or both.

OK, I understand. Thanks for your detailed answer.
I'm a new user of FA and I have 2 suggestions if you are interested
1. Possibility to hide the floating button
2. Add actions like Recent apps, Enable/Disable WiFi or BT and so on...

These are really great suggestions:
1- This would be really nice tho. i'll think of how to implement it and do it asap.
2- I don't think this will be applicable for FA tho, hence the point of the APP to allow you to fast access your Apps, these Wifi, BT toggles are on also a swipe away from any screen, it won't really make sense to have it in FA, did you know, that you can double click on FA to go to your home? i doubt that hahaha, cuz i never mentioned it. alot of stuff to be addressed, but i just don't know how i address them lol.
Thank you very much for your continuos effort to reply and suggest ideas, i really appreciate them.

I have access to my homescreen thanks to my Home button
BTW is there a way to reorder my apps into the folders (instead of in alphabetical order)? (FA Floating Mode set to Folders)
EDIT: last suggestions @k0sh
- Being able to choose into a built-in list of icons for each folder (instead of having the first two letters of our folder names).
- Auto close FA after selecting an app.

SQLite Database EditorDatabase read and editHi all, this is my new app.
Let me know what do you think about!
PLAY STORE DOWNLOAD
Open and modify your SQL databases directly from your device.
For ROOT users it is also possible to modify the databases in the system memory, having directly available the list of installed applications with the relative databases.
Especially useful as an aid to the development of an application that uses a SQLite database, which will be graphically visible and editable directly from the device.

Nice app!
Hi, thanks for the app
Do you plan to release the source ?
Thanks for the app, Dev.
well done!
powerful & simple to use sql editor.
?
Requests:
1. Main screen should have a list of the recently opened DBs, including a FAB to open a new one.
2. in "App list" screen (typo: should be "apps"), have the checkbox of "Hide system app" (typo: should be "apps") in the toolbar. No need to take this space. It's not that common to turn it on&off.
3. Support landscape mode
4. Allow sorting (and remember the sorting) of the apps. To me, the most common sorting would be by update or by install.
5. The app already has ads (banner ads). Interstitial ads are annoying... Maybe offer a reward video instead, that will appear once (or rarely) ? It's annoying to see a full screen ad each time I open a DB... There are already free apps (even without any ads) that show DB files, including within other apps, though I'm not sure about editing...

"Recently dbs" and "sorting" was already in my to-do list, in next weeks I'll work to implement your requests.

Which free apps (even without any ads) that show DB files do you use?
I like the clean, simple UI of this app. It now replaces my previous SQL app.
One "bug": when adding a new row to a table, the list of columns can be scrolled up and down to see all of them, but if you've tapped in one of the entry fields, the keyboard pops up and now you can no longer scroll down to see the last columns (they are covered by the keyboard).
Essentially, the scrolling in the Add view doesn't cater for the reduced view when the keyboard is showing.

Thanks.
Could you also include an About section in Settings that, at least, shows the version. I'd suggest that the About section contains the privacy, libraries, version, and contact items - see how YouTube does it.

There was an old one that isn't available anymore which worked well. Sadly I can't find it anymore.
But searching for "sqlite" on the Play Store shows you multiple free apps.
One example is :

This app is free and has ads like mine, but can only read database, not edit

I see.
But there are others. Even for PC :
https://sqlitebrowser.org/dl/
And this one is truly free, without ads.
It's even open sourced, I think:
https://github.com/sqlitebrowser/sqlitebrowser
EDIT: found the free, no-ads app that I told you about:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=oliver.ehrenmueller.dbadmin
Sadly it's not available anymore, but I can still download it.
Attached APK of it.
It's very easy to use, shows recently opened DB files, and all with minimal steps (all on main screen).
It would be useful to have a history of recently opened DBs. Will you add this feature in the future?
