hey guys.
i was on sense 3.5 custom firmware and went back to sense 2 by flashing original ruu by htc (so far went everything okay) - but i failed when i wanted to update the original sense3 ota - i downloaded it, installed it correctly but after i restarted the new 2.3.5 it stuck on bootlogo (very well known problem to this point)...
but as i was able to go back to CWM, i flashed cm7 and everything seemed oka...
so i wanted to restore my old backups of sense 3.5, formatted data, cache etx... and it says:
Code:
data.img not found, system.img not found, cache.img not found, sd-ext not found
what the hell did i wrong here? why am i able to run cm7 but NOT to restore my backups? they all seemed to run before..?!
aah!! i managed it!
haha. just had to install the latest recovery LOL
thx guys.

Hi together,
today I installed a new ROM on my Desire HD. But now it does not boot anymore, there is just the HTC-Logo and then it hangs - I have to remove the batterie to turn off the device.
So, what happened?
Yesterday I installed the Nightly-Release on the Cyanogenmod end everything worked fine. But because of a few things I wanted to get my old ROM, so I used the ROM-Manager to reinstall my Backup.
But that didn't work - the system doesn't boot...
After a bit research I found the ODIN-Tool - is that the right way to repair it?

I had the same issue this morning when changing rom to a cyanmod nightly edition. I had error messages so I though that I would go for Evolution HD rom that I had working before. When adding that rom again It hanged on the HTC logo. What I did was to do a factory reset and then I used another rom that I had lying on the SD card and installed from zip. Might not be as easy for you if you dont have different roms on your SD card like me, but thats what I did. Dont know anything about the tool you got there sorry :/ Wish you the best of lyck finding an answer here.
Cheers!
Simon
Hey Simon, thanks for your reply.
Actually I tried to install the Cyanogenmod Stable release, fresh downloadet from the Website.
I am able to start the ClockWorkRecovery (Version 3), so I have the possibility to access the SD Card.
But nothing changed with the new ROM installed.
Got it! I used the current version of the LeeDroid. This ROM runs and now I can use my ROM Manager to install another ROM.
Thanks for your support.
Edit: I had problems installing my Cyanogenmod--Backup. Fixed it with installing LeeDroid, downgraded my Clockwork-Recovery to 2.5.1.3 and formatted my SD-Card. After resetting all data in the recovery menu I was able to install my Backup.

Hi guys I really hope someone can help me with this. I was running CM7 Nightly rom and decided to try and flash eaglesblood 2.3.5 and it flashed ok but the problem is that when I tried restoring my back-up on it I get an clockworkmod recovery error. Any Ideas?
what does the error say?
most likely it was a bad backup and slim chance of restoration
did u do a full wipe before restoring?
Yes I did a full wipe before flashing and also before I tried to restore my black-up thru rom manager.I have flashed plenty of roms and this phone am not a total noob when it comes to this phone. I have never encountered this problem before. Before i tried going into recovery thru rom manager to restore back up thru CWm 4.0 etc, and it says I need CWM 5.0. I updated the rom manager to 5.0 etc and when I reboot and go into recovery (not thru rom Manager) and it says that it is the 4.0 etc version. Also is the 5.0 etc version blue? it jumps from 4.0 to 5.0 back to 4.0. This is a lil weird I went into recovery and did a restore from there and when I try in RM it comes up with error message Cannot restore cuz my CWm is 4.0 etc. thats when it jumps back from 5.0 to 4.0. I know this is confusing and by the way all the etcs you see are because I don't know the exact version. Any helps and thnx to whomever does.

You need to update thru NVFlash. Here is the link and everything should be fine after that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054492
Thanks guys u rock. I got the new CWM on there for nvflash. Now I am moving my saved back up zipped file from downloads to CWM on sd card after I zip it, so well see how this goes right now. THanks again
With the G2X don't use rom manager for your backup/restore. Boot directly into the clockworkmod that you installed with nvflash and do the backup/restore from there.
I upgraded manually to 4.04 coming from 4.03 rooted, i flashed the update file and then flashed Superuser, everything is working fine.
Today i wanted to make a backup with the rommanager, but it seems that the Clockworkmodrecovery isnt there anymore, when i tried to flash clockworkmodrecoveryin standard recovery i get the Signature verification fail and then the android with the exclamation mark.
For the rest the phone works fine. i am confused now, what to do
i have backups of my olders system, from a few days ago, but can i use rommanger to set things back or does that not work anymore because the clockworkmod recovery is missing now.
How can i get back clockworkmod recovery
is this working for you: http://andwise.net/?p=268 ?
No it does not work .
what does not work exactly ??
there is an missing dll in your fastboot exe,
pulled the battery and flashed thru rommanager, then its ok, recovery is there but when i want to make a backup, clockworkmod recovery is gone again after reboot, not sticky i think
Rename "/system/etc/install-recovery.sh" to "/system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak". All Stock ROMs replace the recovery on each Boot if it isn't the stock one. Renaming this script stops that. After you do this, flash CWM one more time and it'll stick.
Ok thanks, i am just back to 4.03 using a nandroid backup, when i am going back to 4.04 i will try your solution
Hey guys,
I searched around and only found some old posts for this topic.
I just bought this phone, I rooted it, simunlocked it, and added two day old CWM recovery. Its a S4 Canadian (Bell) version in case that helps..
Is there a way to apply the OTA update WITHOUT having to wipe my data and settings and reflashing a rom?
Hlep will be greatly appreciated!
THANKS :good:
I got the same thing going on. I have a TMOUS HTC One S stock with CWM Rooted and such. I just changed it back to the Stock recovery, but doesn't seem to help. Is there something else I need to do? Maybe I need to flash a newer recovery version?
I have the stock recovery from a MoDaCo topic I can't list because I don't have 10 posts yet.
its topic/353006-interim-clockworkmod-touch-recovery-for-the-htc-one-s-stock-download/ though.
Are you sure your Rom is absolutely stock. For example if the rom is tweaked in any way or if bloatware has been deleted then you won't recieve the update
Ok so I got the update to work. This is what I did: in CWM I backed up a nandroid. I flashed a stock BACKUP for the HTC One S (I moved the zip to the clockwork > backups folder on the sd card). Rebooted into bootloader, flashed a stock recovery from modaco, rebooted, ran the update (I had to update twice, from 1.53 to 1.84 to 2.35). Then I restored my original nandroid. Problem is, the update didn't stick. And now I'm getting an error when I try to turn on wifi. Any ideas? I feel like I got so close...
Tough to see what went wrong.
I had a brand new stock rom with no modifications.
Then I flashed stock recovery,
Did a root keeper (play store app)
Then did the update
And restored root.
Worked out fine for me!
I think you should flash a stock rom and not a backup..
Hi guys,
nice to say hello to all of you.
I have been reading xda for a while and finally started playing with my old HTC Desire S. Kind of training in case I wanted to play with my actual device.
I wanted to unlock it thorugh htcdev, test some roms and back to stock version. Everything was fine but the last step.
At the beginning, I wanted to backup the system as it was, that's with the stock recovery. So I booted a custom recovery (not flashed) and made a nandroid backup with clockwork touch 5.8.1.5. Everything went fine.
After that, I started flashing custom recoveries and ROMs, just for fun. Some problem with that ROM, some with another, but I managed to run a couple or three.
Ok, end of the game. I want my copy back so I am restoring the nandroid.
I wipe everything, restore the nandroid through the same recovery, process finishes and says it's OK. Go back to fastboot and flash stock boot.img.
The result is I am stuck at htc logo.
I have tried flashing recovery.img also, fastboot deleting cache, relocking the bootloader...
I am pretty sure I am missing something with the booting process, but I have tried everything I know.
BTW, I have already tried RUU, but I am not capable of finding one with my CID, radio, etc.
I know it's an old device, but I would really love to solve it (because I am so f***ing pigheaded )
Thanks!!!

You can't flash roms from the recovery because you are not s off. If you have unlocked your bootloader then you have to flash using fastboot commands like the boot.img?

Thank you @lilsafbig. In fact, I tried both, fastboot and recovery, and nothing worked.
Finally, I managed to create a Goldcard and install a new ICS version for my device. Was the only way I could recover a "stock" ROM, although it wasn't Orange one...
