Is anyone else using their infuse with an ATT Microcell? If so what kind of issues are you having if any. I cannot run any modem besides the two stock Froyo modems.... Any other modems cause several issues. One issue is that sms and mms messages fail at a rate of around 65% . They simply dont send...With or Without WIFI on ..Same result. Another issue is that the sound quality is deminished to an unusable level.
I have seen several other posts about the MIcrocell but none of them have produced a good result. I would love to someday be able to run a custom ROM...But if the trade is the aformentioned issues, it isnt worth it.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
I use a Microcell and I do not have any problems. I use Google Voice for texting so I have no experience with messaging through the carrier.

I tried with Google voice when i had kl2 as well. Same result. Some send some don't. Very annoying.
The only commen anomaly is the modem. Kl2 seems to be the issue...for that matter any since froyo

LOL.. No way I am moving for signal. This place is too perfect. I am jumping to the note soon if I don't get a fix. Crossing fingers it wont have the same issue.

lol ..the move was just coincidental
So ... I thought I would be an informed man if I went over to the Galaxy Note forum and post my Microcell question. I asked if anyone was having the issues that my fellow Infuse owners are experiencing with their Microcell and the G-Note.
After not getting a response and over 50 people had looked at the thread ... someone finally responded. I will some up what they said.
The ATT version isn't out yet. No one can answer this question. I immediately felt noobish and dumb.
So after my posts here about the Microcell ... I still have no fix. And after my post over at the g-note o feel stupid. No winning for me in either case. Mom and Dad both denied my requests.
On a separate note: I went my the ATT store in Marion IL. I asked the salesman when they would have a G-Note in stock... he replied " oh! You mean the Phablet ?" . I almost threw up. Is anyone actually using that term? I see the logic in the term but just saying it out loud makes that beast of a phone sound like wuss that gets picked last when choosing last for a kick ball game!
Way to wuss it up ATT.

I have had an Infuse since June and relied on a M-Cell until recently. In as short of an answer as possible the M-Cell does not work well with 4G phones especially the Infuse. SMS are sent over data signals and that is where the bottleneck is. Get used to it, my texts would fail 50-80 percent of the time and I lost about half of my calls in under 15 minutes.
FYI: I called AT&T and demanded a refund for the M-Cell as it was causing my reception issues, after the unhook my phone is tolerable though not perfect. I received a $165 credit on my bill and then sold the M-Cell on ebay.

I am very happy that you have signal without your mcell. I however have no choice. We have 3 4g phones and only the infuse has this issue. The other disturbing fact is that I don't have the issue with Froyo. By deduction I am left to assume that the issue is the radio.

I'll update you on how my phone works once I upgrade to Gingerbread.
you guys paid for your microcells?????
you must learn the way of the "unsatisfied customer"!!!
I have microcell at my home, i got from ATT for free when I have signal issue with my iPhone. After getting infuse, i didnt had any issues in terms of data. I never use SMS so i dont know about it.
But when I use micro cell, my batter drains too fast. so now i stopped using microcell, and now I have better signal in my home.

I had the same issues with stock Froyo, Infused 2.2.3, and stock GB, this of course does not disprove your theory as there are different modems. I just saw a lack of usability across 3 builds and gave up on the gadget and got my money back.
What I don't get is that my phone always showed 5 bars, so I infer the gremlin is not the radio, but some failure between the devices to handshake properly and this borks up the whole affair. Who knows though your theory is as valid as mine.
Just my $.02
I had this same issue when I had my infuse. It drove me bonkers so I finally sold the infuse and bought the sgs2 international version. It works perfectly with the M-Cell so maybe the note will too. Hope that's at least a little help.
Got microcell free also have horrible battery drain, have to resend sms atleast 10 times for it to go out, same with inbound SMS most of the time won't get them until I walk outside and disconnect from mcell then 5 or 6 will sms will come in at once, while my girls iPhone 4 sends/recieves texts fine over mcell

I haven't found another infuse thread with the same issue I have.. so here goes.
I'm trying to determine if I have a phone problem or a me problem. I've now been told on more than one occasion by different people that it's hard to hear me when I'm talking to them on my Infuse. After a few seconds everything seems to normalize and they can hear me again. I thought maybe it was a signal issue, but it happened a third time again today outside of the ATT store where I have a full signal. For as much as I use the phone, I don't talk on it too often. This is why this is a big deal. I might talk on the phone once every other day and if I have these issues as little as I do talk, I'm in trouble if I really do end up needing a reliable phone.
Here comes the question part. Has anyone had any issues with being heard while talking on the Infuse? I'm trying to identify if I have an Infuse problem or a me problem so I can get it swapped out while I'm still within my 30 day period.

I have not had this issue. You should go into AT&T local store and ask if you can test a phone there.
I had a similar problem with the addition of people not recognizing my voice. I took it back to Bestbuy to replace it. He asked if he could look at the sim card first. He pulled it and there was a micro scratch on one of the contacts. He said this has been a problem with 4g cards. He replaced it and the phone works fine now.
Thanks for the reply, I think I'll head over to Best Buy after work and check it out.
Having same issue. Biggest concern when talking to elderly parents. Remember seeing several scratches on card's micro chip. I'll give it a shot

Based on experience with audio issues, I'd say its a network issue more than anything. scratches on a SIM won't cause calling issues, the rep is telling you this on baseless knowledge from what they think considering the actual SIM chip is under the gold plating.

Would that be an issue solely for 4g sim cards/network? Is voice handled on 4g network or just data?

Baseless or not, after he put a new sim card in last week I have not lhad a single complaint from callers.
I have had some issues but I believe its from samsung's noise cancelling. I disabled it in the call menu and it worked fine from then on

I am having an odd problem with my 2 inspires. I have a bone stock one and a rooted running the beast right now( I am positive its not the rom). What happens is during a longer call, aprox over 10min, the phone will just act as though its muted even though its not. I can hear the person but they cannot hear me. The mute button is not checked nor the hold. I can normally get it back by putting the person on hold and then unhold, but not always. Also the bone stock one will do this and then immediately call the person back of which I was talking to.
I have flashed most of the roms and a bunch of radios. They all do the same thing. Its not the network because I have a dumbphone and an aria that I use to test and neither one have done this, same sim card, location and other variable of which I can control. I have even tried enabling and disabling the hac and dual mic deal in the build prop with no success. The stock one I have left alone, its running the 6.30 radio as is the rooted one at this time. the rooted phone is from close to launch and the stock one is a couple weeks old.
I am at a loss. I am not someone who returns stuff, but this is getting me pissed. I can live with the little "issues" the phone has but its a phone first and foremost. I am hoping one of you guys have a suggestion as to what to try. Thanks in advance guys/gals. I did many searches but came up dry, is my luck just that bad with this phone? Maybe a conflict with the network and the inspire? I also travel for work from middle florida to south florida and it does it in every county I visit. I have not tried to run it on edge only, but I dont know if this is a good idea or not.
By know means am I an expert, does your phone heat up during this time? Just a thought. After 5 or 10min of conversation does it feel unnecessarily warm?

So...you're having this issue on 2 phones, one rooted and one not. If we look at this logically, it has to be something common to both phones. The only common thing to both phones in this situation is the AT&T network. Do you think it could be an AT&T problem in your area? Did both phones just start doing this out of the blue?

That's how I was looking at it, too. Common denominator.
Or, the longshot odds of both phones being from the same manufacturer production batch, which was faulty.... Highly unlikely.

I think he specifies that one was obtained close to release and the other was obtained in May...so highly unlikely it is a bad lot/build problem.
Yeah I am honestly thinking its a conflict with the network and the hspa+ phone or something. Its so damned annoying. The other phones I have to test with are just hspda phones, no faux g and they work great, same Sims.?
In a 15 minute call it did it 3 times last night. My friends now know to just wait it out and not hang up if they hear me go silent, sad.
Oh and the phone does not get hot.
I am gonna try to disable 3g and see what happens. I really appreciate the feedback guys.

I upgraded using the LG tool and everything went fine. Setup the ROM from scratch and all was well but then I kept having these issues so I shelved the G2X and went back to Sensation UNTIL T-mobile released what I thought would be a newer official build.
The fact that they are putting out V21E as the official GB build is downright sad and pathetic. After many months of promising an update they can't even get a release out there that's not busted. I know it is possible but it seems only HTC and perhaps Samsung know how to write software...my old Droid Incredible, friends Evo 4G and now Sensation are rock solid and everything just works. Samsung Nexus S and Galaxy variants also just mainly work.
I had these issues for the 24 hours I used the G2X with V21E - I got fed up and stopped using it but I'm sure there are others.
- Several times phone rang/vibrated due to incoming call so I answered the call which worked BUT the phone kept vibrating like it was still ringing even while I'm talking to the other person. Only solution is to hang up call and call back. Doesn't happen every time but happened quite often.
- Bluetooth is buggy as hell. Sometimes a device that's paired won't connect unless I powercycle the BT on the phone.
-- I was listening to music once with A2DP headset and a call came in. I answered the call and everything was great. I hung up the call and now no BT audio would come through the headset or even the phone speaker no matter what I did. Turn off BT/turn on, etc. Only solution was to powercycle
--Later on was using the phone, connected my paired A2DP headset to the G2X and almost instantly the phone screen turned off and it locked up. Had to pull the battery
- Weird issue with apps like (edit: Google's podcast app not HTC) Listen. Will play for a while and then all of a sudden stop playing and nothing I can do will get it to play again unless I uninstall/reinstall the app. Never happened on Froyo or CM7.
- Gets very warm - battery app showed the temp being well over 35 degrees celcius most times I looked and I wasn't even using the phone much.
- Was using the Google reader to read articles and all of a sudden the phone started slowing down and then it just froze with the screen on. Nothing I did would get a response from it. Power + vol up didn't work. had to pull the battery.
I mean this is freaking ridiculous. I have the Sensation setup with the exact same apps, launcher, settings, everything and I have ZERO issues. This is simply crappy software and LG should be ashamed.
FWIW, CM7 latest nightlies I never had ANY of these problems but A2DP doesn't work on CM7 so can't use it daily. Once A2DP starts working on CM7 I might give it another shot.
I'm definitely done with LG for a while.

I did, note how I said I set it up from scratch. There is BOUND to be issues with this because the kernel is the same as froyo - many of the problems were caused by the kernel and since that hasn't changed, how would the issues be fixed? CM7 might fix issues because it's a different kernel.
My phone is now freezing up!!! WTH! Three times since the update in less than 12 hours. I wanted to call Tmobile customer service to cancel my Value Plan i switched to a day earlier but couldn't. I had to remove the battery and reset the phone before making my call.
I told them I didn't want to spend $200 for the migration fee and then be stuck in a new 2 year contract with this G2X phone and pay a $200 if I leave that Value Plan contract or spend full price on a phone to replace this junk. I went back to my 1500 mins, unlim text, 5 gb data for $79.99 plus %15 discount on that. The person I spoke with was surprised this new update was having issues. She knew this phone had bugs because her friend had this phone. She also knew they took it off their website and just brought it back with Gingerbread.
She said she will make a note in my account to give me a full upgrade credit because I am on my second phone and I told her that I was going to leave to Sprint! Hopefully my phone wont cause me to smash it before the Samsung Hercules comes out on Sept 26.

I can't help to think that theres some app people are installing that's causing some of these issues. My phone has been perfect in operation, but froyo was great too.
People need to understand that the tegra 2 has some compatibility issues as well with some apps.
Uninstall everything 3rd party, use the phone for a day and see what probs you have.

No problems so far. I love GB. My bluetooth now syncs with my radio which it wasn't doing with Froyo.
i've had none of these issues. i have had issues like this in the past with a bad flash.
Well I'm getting a replacement G2X that either will come with the update (doubt it) or I'll use OTA to get the update so if after that it doesn't work. I give up.

OK.
I hope you have better luck with your new phone. The Sensation is a piece of garbage according to many. It is all up to luck apparently. It is weird how some have no issues and some have continual issues.
I'm starting to think I have bad hardware too, I'm having more problems with GB than I did with Froyo!
What did you tell them to get a warranty exchange? I was thinking of calling and just overwhelming them with info.
Just worried the replacement device could be worse!
I can't adjust the damn touch key brightness. It is making me crazy. Also the screen is not as responsive as it was with Froyo.
and of course the battery still sucks, but apparently android is a flawed system that just sucks battery for no reason at all. I hope the google/android folks get their stuff together one of these days. I really miss my HD2 battery life. You would think a bigger battery and newer operating system would be more efficient, but crappy battery life seems to be the norm. The tmobile guber that sold me my phones assured me I would get the same life out of the battery, but he was very wrong.

Nope you're not the only one. My G2x today decided for the first time to freeze while I was using it. Plus with this update I get less signal than I had before.
This phone and how tmobile handled it in my situation left a foul taste in my mouth forcing me to switch to Sprint and the HTC EVO 4G. So far its been a happy switch, my phone hasn't locked up, no reboots, doesn't overheat and battery lasted me about 30 hours with moderate use (web browsing for about 30mins, 1hr phone call, and about 2hrs overall on xda) also had WiFi on plus Bluetooth.
Sadly I lost 4G data since Sprint doesn't have any 4G towers in my area yet. But @ $110 a month for unlimited everything and no data throttling it was a good move, plus nice to have signal while at home. WiFi calling worked whenever it felt like so it was no more reliable than plain cell service.

Something very weird just started happening with my SamChg.
When I am a few minutes into a phone call (about 3 - 4 minutes), all audio drops out on both sides of the call. The call is still connected, but neither side hears anything anymore.
I did a factory reset on the phone, but it didn't make a difference.
What can be causing this? If I can't use my smartphone as a phone, I'm screwed!
are you running any special ROM or anything because its happening to me as well
I have been having the same problem for almost a month now. I was rooted when this started happening. I went back stock still happened. New 4g card still happened. Another phone still happened. I have been getting the runaround from verizon the whole time they have no clue what is going on.
On a side note asked a friend that works at a little vzw store if they have seen this problem and sure enough she had. She told me that they had a customer go through 4 phones and she started making calls and was told by Customer Support that it was a known thing and there was a software update coming out for that.
After hearing this I called good ole *611 yet again and they were clueless and said they knew nothing about it. *sigh*

Yes, I am running a custom ROM, but it's basically a stock rooted & voodoo'd EE4 ROM (by danalo1979, I think). It's got all the yucky poo-brown colors and all the bloatware.
Same issue here. I'm running completely stock right now, non-rooted. Sometimes the audio will drop at the onset of placing a call (I won't even hear ringing) and sometimes it will happen a few minutes into a call. Other parties do say they can hear me though.
Personally, I've noticed that this problem only happens when I am also connected to a Wireless Network. If I'm running 4G/3G, sometimes I hear echos of my voice, but the audio won't drop out.
Weird, but glad to know others are having this issue and that VZW is aware it's happening.
What should we do? Personally, I'd like to wait for the SG2 to arrive before I start complaining. My plan would be to basically flip out explaining that I need my phone to work like a phone, etc. Then flip out that I paid for 4G and my decision was battery based (so I don't get stuck with a Thunderbolt). I bet I could talk my way into a new SG2 over this... Just saying.

Weird, but glad to know others are having this issue and that VZW is aware it's happening.

Well they do not tell me they know what is wrong they tell me they have no clue. I even explained to them somebody there does know as they have explained the issue to someone else that has had the problem but I still get they you just need another phone speel.
I don't have this problem watch as soon as I try to make a call the audio drops...

same, don't have this problem but i probably just jinxed it.
I've had this happen a couple times too...hard to pinpoint consistency. The other thing I've encountered more than once, is that my mic seems to go off mid-conversation, e.g. I can still hear the person on the other end very clearly, but they can't hear me. Anyone else experience this?

I've experienced that. But I'm not so sure I'm not just covering the mic with my finger.
I was on nluetooth, with the phone in the cupholder... Don't think my finger was involved.

Well 2nd Fru and as I told them it would. It does the same thing. Bone stock. *sigh*
One thing that seems odd to me is that I seem to see this problem more when calling another mobile phone vs. a landline.
Maybe it's just my imagination, but I always see problems when calling my wife's mobile phone. Last night, I called a landline for over an hour without any problem.
same here I can talk to customer service for 1hr+ but mobile to mobile most Ican get is maybe 15 min.
I drive around as part of my job and today I tested a call out to my wife who has a charge as well and we were able to talk for over 20 minutes with no issues. That same area I drove through a few days ago caused 3-4 drops in audio before. So in my opinion its a network related issue and hopefully its get fixed 100% cause most of us need our phones to work solidly
To the people losing audio during their calls, can you post your location?
The reason why I ask this is because on the Verizon forums there is an eight page post about this issue. Seems like a lot of people in Arizona are experiencing this. I'm in Chandler, Az and have this issue, especially when calling other VZW people in AZ.
Can't post links yet but check the VZW community forum for the Charge.
My friend is about to be on his third one.
First one had the force close problem where everything would FC. Doesnt matter if you wipe it, factory reset it, new ROM, stock ODIN, it would keep happening.
Second one had a broken mic. Voice to other people were completely muffled.
Third one is coming Friday. Verizon refuses to send him a different phone.
Ive been on the same charge since purchased. No problems at all.

I have had this phone since it came out and I love it, I have had no issues at all. Every phone comes out has some bad apples (pun intended). but this phone is a great phone in my opinion. I hope the third one will change your opinion on the phone cause it has treated me well. As a final note I have used odin and cwm and all kinds of different roms, kernels, updates, themes, and everything with no problems
Every problem I have had with this phone has been fixed by software updates except for the weak signal reception, but i guess that is what you get when you buy Samsung.

I've enjoyed the phone except for one problem. I'm calling Verizon tonight to maybe get a replacement. On more then half of long phone calls that are over ten minutes, the phone makes a clicking noise and then the other person can't here me anymore. Happens daily.
I'm considering burning my upgrade for the Nexus. If only the One X was coming to Verizon, or anything quad core for that matter.

Your friend is one of the unlucky one, he probably received replacement phones returned from members of XDA!)
I don't understand why Verizon refused to replace his phone? If they can't fix the problem, they obligated to replace the device if you're on Verizon contract. I never heard of Verizon ever refused to hand out replace if they failed to fix the problem??

I'm on my third Charge. My first one died within a week before I'd even rooted it. The EE4 OTA failed and bricked the CDMA modem in the process. The second one had an odd USB port failure that caused it to randomly go in and out of desk dock mode

I think the key statement of the Op is "different phone". I too am on the 4th CLN charge for the clicking and popping on calls lasting more than 10 minutes. The irony is my current phone was perfect until the FP1 update, then the clicks started happening again. I tried to get verizon to send me a different device but was told the manufacturer has only approved them to send CLN phones out. When I asked what verizon's policy was, all I got was silence. Apparently they don't care that I spend $2200 per year for a family plan that a $200 phone can ruin. They aren't making money on handsets, it's all in the service.
End rant.

Lol my friend is the same..he won't upgrade..maybe HTC signal strength was that bad compared to Samsung because I'm always on a strong signal. Except when I'm in 3g..I always have ****ty 3g download speeds

Mine works great, I've only had it for about two months. I got it used off of craigslist, I've always wanted this phone ever since it came out but I was stuck with the HTC incredible. I rooted it, changed the radio, the kernel and bought an extended battery and I've never had any issues with it so far

Love my charge
I've had two charges, both refurbs since they offered it to me after dealing with a lot of annoying problems with my fascinate. The first one was great, had a bit of a static issue on phone calls but easily dealable, but my usb controller crapped out after about three months so I could no longer flash anything through odin (which is simply unacceptable to me). VZ sent me a replacement and after customizing it and getting the latest software I have not had a single problem since, no static issues on calls, and ridiculously good reception even in my bunker of a house. Hands down my favorite phone I've ever owned.
Static, static, and more static. Even with the last update. I can deal with it, because it's my work phone, and almost always use bluetooth.
When I talk on the phone with my gf (the only time I talk with anybody for more than 5 minutes), she says she hears the clicking and then I disappear. I can hear her, but she can't hear me. It's been happening as long as I can remember, so I went back to stock and took all the updates. Not rooted at the moment, and if the call problem happens one more time I'm buying the Nexus.
As long as you have the warranty on your phone you can get as many refurbs as you like. Or you can request for a new phone from Verizon if your tired of having problems out of your phone. I started with a Driod 2. From there: Droid X, iPhone 4 ( black 8gb), Droid X2, LG Revolution, Droid Bionic, Droid Charge, Samsung Stratosphere, then funny enough back to the Droid Charge. This is all the phones they have sent me during my two year contract which ends this September. So this comes to show that if you have an issue with your phone verizon as all about customer satisfaction. So if your unhappy with your phone just complain. They will set things straight. And in case anybody is wondering I just like to play and mod different phones. Was really regretting getting rid of the iPhone 4 but Tweaked v2.0 rom by dwitherell has really made me happy to be a Charge owner. The rom is super stable and super quick. No lockups or lag. And the theme is just beautiful.

InfinityROM by imnuts is another rom that will make your Phone run better (if you can handle all the hotboots). If only dwitherell could add the TouchWiz 4 launcher from Infinity to Tweaked v2.0 I'd be in heaven!
