No data in 3G but fine everywhere else TMOUS - HTC Sensation

So I run a couple of different roms almost all with the same issure that when 3G is shown, it will not download a single drop of data, but it will download on 2g and H...I have run a couple of different roms and I am now on CM7, but was wondering if there was a quick fix for this. I have tried it in different markets, but not success.
I still get calls and can make calls tho when 3g is displayed.
Hope this isnt a dumb question!

Sensation doesn't have 3g antenna/frequency.... 4g or edge is what you get

Unable to get 3G on my Touch Cruise

I've recently got a new 3G iphone. It came with a new SIM card that is suppose to be optimized for iphone. When I put this sim card into my Touch Cruise, I am unable to get 3G. There is signal bars but I cannot make or receive phone calls. The only way to make or receive phone calls is by disabling the 3G. The same applies for Data. I thought maybe the radio ROM was not working so I changed it to the Murata ROM but I am still having problems. I am on the Rogers network in Canada. Has anybody else having similar problems? Any help would be appreciated as I still find my Touch Cruise more useful than the 3G iphone.
Most probably is ur phone broken. U will have to send it to the service. Maaaaany users had/have/will have problems with calls, connections, signal strenght, bluetooth, camera, broken wheel etc. I had... Touch cruise is crapy.
If you know someone with a non-iPhone 3G sim, try theirs in your Cruise and see what happens

Actually, I did this today. Same thing happen. I would get a 3G signal but when I tried to make a call, I get no signal. But when I disable the 3G, edge works fine with voice and data.
Hi, I sufered the same problem until yesterday. I had the same problems. Yesterday I switched off the HSDPA switch in the software, after a soft reset the TC came back online. Probably worth trying?

I've tried both Murata radio roms. Both gives very good 3G signal but when I try to make a call or use data, I get no connection. I've tried the original radio ROM and some of the Kaiser ported radio Roms. They all give me no connection with 3G. In every case, when I disable the 3G, I can make calls and get data although it is only through edge and GPRS. I looked at my box for the TC and it is revision A. Do I need to send my TC for repair? I even went as far as calling my cell phone provider(Rogers) and they couldn't help me. The phone is functional but without 3G I am not getting very fast data speeds.
The problem started with my TC started after upgrading to Udk R6 and R7, after upgrading to R8 and a new radio version

Will give you an updated radio version what will have a good match with the Udk diamond R8 Rom.

just a question, I'm on ATT, and the sim card I use on my polaris came off the iPhone3G, and I get the H (the high speed thing) sign on the phone during data sessions. on some areas I'm only able to get E and sometimes even the G sign came on and off. so I guess, maybe wherever you are, the 3G signal isn't strong enough, so you can only get edge.
and as of the other person noted, polaris is kind of at the edge of getting broken, fast. I only uses mine exclusively for web browsing for a week when the phone goes crazy. sent it to repair and everything seems to be in "sane" mode now let's hope that my phone didn't try to go insane again

Guys, maybe a silly comment but did you check the following settings : phone/menu/options/band and check select network type to auto?
I have had problems before with 3G & HSDPA. Somtimes when your registered on HSDPA and you travell away from that mast/area into an area that only has 3G or even only Edge, then device does not re-register onto the other band and you will not be bale to make calls and will miss calls. This happened for days one time and i very nearly hard reset my device in frustration, i eventually found out it was a network problem.
Another work around is going to phone/menu/networks and manually select networks and hopefully it should bring up your 3G network.
Phone operators do not like telling you that their 3G or HSPDA networks do not have good coverage or intermittent quality of signal. My 3G network only has 70% coverage & 30 % of that is HSDPA, so i sometimes end up on EDGE and hence miss calls.
Try playing around with the setting above one at a time. When im stuck i manually set band to GSM (edge), then when travelling away reset back to auto. Most of the time however it is fine.
Hi, I'm from Argentina. I had the same problem with 3G after a trip to other country. Now my TC only works well in GSM Band. Unfortunatelly we don't have service support here so if anyone knows how to fix this will be highly appreciated.
I have the same problem in my Polaris. I tried almost every radio i could find, i tried with different sim cards, i tried with official wm6 and wm6.1 roms with no result. When 3G is enabled i can not make or receive calls. I think that the problem started when i first upgraded from WM6 to WM6.1. Now i keep band selection to GSM so at least i can use my polaris as a phone. There must be something that prevents gsm connection when 3G is active. I hope a registry tweak could be found for this. I' m just one step from sending my device to be serviced.
I have the same trouble with my virgin uk sim card and t-mobile which share the same network(need to turn off 3g),but no trouble with my asda sim which uses the vodaphone network. So if you try different sim cards make sure they dont share networks.Another thing i've noticed with my virgin sim is all my preferred networks are unchecked but my phone will still connect if my 3g is turned off?

[Q] 3g problem with sensation... need help.

Hi, the problem that exists with my htc sensation is that whenever i turn 3g (set it to gsm / wcdma auto) i get no signal. It says i have no internet connection either but for some reason i can still browse perfectly at high speed meaning i do have full hsdpa. I cant make calls or texts though. As soon as i set it to gsm only, it works fine, but ive got slow internet which i dont want. I am rooted, ive got the coredroid 2.4 rom, ive tried various roms, kernels and radios but none seem to work. I thought it was my sim, so i ordered a new one and its exactly the same, im on virgin mobile uk. Ive tried a 3 sim card in the phone and it seems to work, and ive tried my virgin sim card in other phones and that seems to work too. It just seems to be a virgin sim card in my phone. It used to work fine, then about 3 weeks ago it just started with this problem. Ive searched for an answer but couldnt find anything, has anyone got any ideas please? Also as im rooted, does that mean my warranty is void and i would get charged if i sent it for repair?
Try calling them to ask about that issue
They will probably re-add you to the network and that might fix it

[Q] Odd 3G/4G connection issues ViperDNA

I rooted and flashed a rom onto my DNA the first day that I got it, so I don't know if this happens on stock or not.
Often, my phone will show 3G or 4G when I'm not in that coverage area. Such as, sometimes it'll show 4G when I move into a 3G area (even after being in that area for 10-15 minutes) and the data doesn't work.
Also, often, the data just doesn't work. I can show full bars with 4G, and not have access to Facebook or Internet. Same with 3G.
Sometimes I'll just have the bars, and no 3G or 4G icon.
So far I haven't found a surefire way to get around this, but I have had some limited success with going into airplane mode and back again.
Anyone else have this issue or have any suggestions? I don't think I've ever updated the radios or anything like that, so if that's something I should try let me know!

I should mention that these issues were even worse with CM10.1.

[Q] Signal issues Claro Provider

I´ve read in a few forums out there that sometimes there are signal issues with this model when is used outside US, in my case most of the time my phone only has 3 signal bars (sometimes 1 or two bars but only for a few seconds), when I recieve or make a call suddenly I get all 5 bars this only happens with that phone, every other one in the house gets full reception, by the way I dont have mobile internet I only use cell reception to make and recieve calls and use wifi for internet.
After reading a lot about this Im guessing I need to try and flash a different radio, so my real question is which one? My provider is Claro (Huge cell provider in Latin America, but I guess you guys know that ) . And one last thing, this one is a newbie question, Can I flash a radio on a rooted stock JB firmware? I updated with kies.
Because when you make a call it switches to hspa.
You would have to try all the radios to see which one works best in your area.
Sure you can flash a radio as long as you have a custom recovery.

[Q] 4g data drops often...too often

i have to reboot in order for the 4g data to work again but it only stays on for about a minute and then it stops working again. everything else on the phone works ( text, voice, wifi etc...) I read somewhere that flashing different radios might fix it but im not sure about that. anyone else experience this and have a work around? i am currently on baseband i535VRLG1
Thanks In advance
i called Verizon and they said it may be the sim card thats damaged. if that were the case wouldnt voice and text fail as well?

I'm having the same issues recently. I've always gotten a 4G signal at my house (albeit not the strongest one) but lately, my phone will not hold on to the connection. When coming off of wifi, my phone will not acquire a data connection at all most of the time. I can still send/receive texts and calls but there is no 4G or 3G icon, no MMS, and no data. I have to toggle the radios on/off, or change from CDMA/LTE to Global (or GSM) and back, put in airplane mode, or restart.....there is no guarantee any one of those steps will work. Sometimes I have to do it repeatedly until I get my data connection back but it is only temporary.
I'm on the i535VRBMF1 baseband and updated to the ML1 modem to try and resolve but to no avail. I have replaced my sim card (as I initially though that was the issue) but it has not helped either.
The only thing I can think of is that my PRL may have been updated (it is currently 15310) and it's causing issues with the towers in my area.
I just got back from Hawaii and was also in San Diego for a few days and had absolutely no issues. It seems to only be an issue now when I'm at my house which makes me think it is something VZW network related and nothing to do with my phone per say. It's really driving me nuts though.
BTW, I'm in Southern California (Irvine).
I seemed to have fixed the issue by reverting the baseband back to vrlf2. I had to switch from global to 4g/LTE because I vegan to inch roaming charges lol. Verizon credited me and no dropped 4g signal. So I'm happy.

What ROM are you running? I'm just curious what the implications are of running an older baseband (from the ICS days) on a newer ROM/Kernel.
I'm running cleanrom8.1 core edition. Slightly buggy but tolerable.
I was finally able to somewhat resolve my issue so I thought I'd post in case anyone else is experiencing something similar.
By using a few different apps and testing techniques, I was finally able to deduce that my issue had to do with EHRDP hand-off with the towers in the immediate vinicity to my house. I'm not sure what VZW did to them lately but it doesn't appear to be a problem in other locations so it seems like the issue is on their end (and not something to do with my phone).
In any case, it seems that when my 4G connection is weak and EHRDP is detected, it is dropping the connection entirely instead of handing if off to 3G (EVDO). The connection is also never transferred back when a 4G signal is detected either until I reset the connection where there is a moderate 4G signal.
Again, this only seems to be an issue when connected to the towers near my house and doesn't occur when traveling abroad.
To fix this, I have disabled EHRDP by doing the following:
1) Open the dialer and type *#97328640#
2) Select "[2] CDMA"
3) Select "[2] Data"
4) Select "[7] eHRPD e/disable"
5) Select "[2] Disable(*)"
6) Reboot the phone
Now my phone switches between EVDO revA. for 3G (using the native protocols) and LTE rather than relying on the broken eHRDP protocols. This workaround will have to suffice until VZW fixes stuff in my area but at least I don't miss MMS messages anymore.
Hope this helps anyone running into similar situations.
