4ext in my book. Revolutionary will install this automatically

4ext touch has been out for a while, thus very fine tuned! CWM just started the touch feature...

Ahh ok.. thanks guys

Where can I get the links to download the 4ext recovery and how do I do it?
Right now I cave clockwork mod.. so will I have to remove it? And how will I do that?
Sorry guys, kinda a nood at this stuff. Lol

Just to buck the trend CWM here, both on my Desire and Sensation. It seems to be reliable and does what it needs to do.
TBH not tried EXT4. Given the time the both have been out I'm sure that they're both fine. All you need is:
o Backup/Recovery
o Install zip
o wipe Cache / Dalvik Cache
In CWM a couple of times it's saved me a load of time by having to confirm I want to do something, as in I tried to do something stupid and I had to think before I pressed GO for it.

clockwork recovery or 4ext recovery

I'm thinking about using 4ext recovery, what makes it better and/or different than clockwork recovery?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Different layout style and options, and 4ext has some themes.
Also, not sure is cwm does this, but 4ext aligns the partitions correctly for flash memory to get the best possible speed (analogous to aligning a partition on an ssd to best possible speed).

[Q] CWR or 4Ext ?

I own paid version of cwr and been using it for a while. On my last device cwr was the recommended even tho twrp and others were around. I've only had this phone for roughly two weeks, but I'm familiar with unlocking, rooting, s-off and so forth.
I've noticed some ROM releases like the new AR requires 4Ext. Aside from little calculators on backup and what not, what real difference is there. I'm currently using cwr touch recovery.

4ext began as cwm based, but grew much since, it was the first to support touch recovery, and has some extra features. I also feel it is being updated more frequently, and might have a larger community behind it.
I'm not entirely sure why some Roms, like ARHD which I'm using, requires it, I simply enjoy it better.

ARHD requires it because of the update script style for the roms is programmed to interact with 4ext's coding style for the touch system

definitively 4EXT.
It's just more intuitive.
4ext is so so much better on sensation from cwm , cwm gouch recocery already has many bugs on senaation

Yup, 4EXT is better because you can choose the add ons you want installed like what kernel etc.
To me 4Ext is MUCH better for all the added features it offers and CWR it is just trying to catch up with 4Ext. I honestly feel that 4Ext left CWR far behind.

4EXT hands down due to the great support and frequent updates as well as having a great UI

This response is overwhelming, i need to try it out.

Installing 4 ext touch recovery by madmaxx82

I this install like firmware?I know its installed after rooting your phone instead of using clockworkmod there's 4 ext touch recovery which is way better.when you use pg58img.zip to install firmware, radios, etc.what I don't understand are the radios and firmware already in the pg58img.zip or do you have to put then in there.could someone explain my qwestions and kinda of how all this works. Thanks!!!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda app-developers app
PG58IMG.zip is a file which can be installed from hboot. It man contain a new hboot, recovery radio etc. Its not a must for it to contain them all, you could have one containing only new radio for example.
Most people do not cook a PG58IMG.zip themselves, rather download a made one. I.e if you download the firmware package from mike's thread you'll get new hboot and Radios etc, but no new recovery iirc.

How do you install from the hboot?what is that procedure done?Do I boot into recovery? If yes then what do I do next.could you please explain installation through the hboot and bootloader the samething.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda app-developers app
You should boot while pressing vol down, it will detect the file and ask you to confirm the installation

Does anyone have the web link for 4 ext touch recovery download by mad maxx.

After I download 4 ext touch recovery do I flash it to my phone like a Rom?4ext touch recovery is the last thing I do when rooting a phone correct?then once that's installed I can flash roms, kernels, etc onto my phone.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda app-developers app
yes ..i presume you are using a rooted rom now
or i suggest you to use the app (get the free one from the site (download to sdcard and then install from sdcard ..by clicking it ) .... or get the paid one from play store )
you can install 4EXT recovery using any of the two app's
EDIT: btw if you have custom rom installed already then you are pre-rooted already
It's for a different phone yes Ian rooted.I'm sorry for the confusion. Thanks!!!

I'm rooted but I'm helping my friend root his.after I download the 4 ext touch recovery then I put it on the root of sd card then flash it onto my phone. Is this all correct. Thanks in advance...

because you are S-ON(i assume i am not wrong)when flashing a rom it hasn't have the ability to flash the boot.img by itself
you have 2 options:
flash 4ext recovery which has the smartflash feature or
flash the boot.img of the rom manually
see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
step 2 for flashing the recovery
extra 1 step for flashing the boot.img
best wishes

Most popular recovery?

Hey everyone, i just wanted to know what's the most popular recovery used. Why and why not use it or others. Thanks.

4ext ftw.
Wysłane z mojego HTC Sensation Z710e
TWRP. Fastest and most bug-free recovery for me. (on the downside you need S-off to install kernels with it)
most users are using 4ext
if i am not wrong
4ext is my choice and many others choice also. It's easy to use and has great options.
Sent from my HTC Sensation
Yes 4 EXT also overhere working fine
same here: 4ext
Well then rom manager app renders useless now
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
4ext. If you're not using that your not playing with the big kids!
Apparently there is supposed to be some exciting changes to it soon also.

I am sold on 4EXT Touch now, used to use CWM
For some reason, 4ext was really buggy and laggy for me so I decided to S-off and install TWRP
4ext touch recovery, I believe there's no discussion about it

It's so easy to use, not tried any others because 4ext has never ever let me down.

I use 4ext on my phone and TWRP on my tablet, and I like both of them.
I use 4EXT Touch Recovery
First flash CMW and then flash 4EXT THE BEST
CWM no contest
4ext from day 1. Hasn't failed me yet. I keep it updated too.
4ext
I think 4ext is the most widely used recovery. SmartFlash makes it stand out.
