I this install like firmware?I know its installed after rooting your phone instead of using clockworkmod there's 4 ext touch recovery which is way better.when you use pg58img.zip to install firmware, radios, etc.what I don't understand are the radios and firmware already in the pg58img.zip or do you have to put then in there.could someone explain my qwestions and kinda of how all this works. Thanks!!!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda app-developers app
PG58IMG.zip is a file which can be installed from hboot. It man contain a new hboot, recovery radio etc. Its not a must for it to contain them all, you could have one containing only new radio for example.
Most people do not cook a PG58IMG.zip themselves, rather download a made one. I.e if you download the firmware package from mike's thread you'll get new hboot and Radios etc, but no new recovery iirc.

How do you install from the hboot?what is that procedure done?Do I boot into recovery? If yes then what do I do next.could you please explain installation through the hboot and bootloader the samething.

You should boot while pressing vol down, it will detect the file and ask you to confirm the installation

After I download 4 ext touch recovery do I flash it to my phone like a Rom?4ext touch recovery is the last thing I do when rooting a phone correct?then once that's installed I can flash roms, kernels, etc onto my phone.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda app-developers app
yes ..i presume you are using a rooted rom now
or i suggest you to use the app (get the free one from the site (download to sdcard and then install from sdcard ..by clicking it ) .... or get the paid one from play store )
you can install 4EXT recovery using any of the two app's
EDIT: btw if you have custom rom installed already then you are pre-rooted already
It's for a different phone yes Ian rooted.I'm sorry for the confusion. Thanks!!!

because you are S-ON(i assume i am not wrong)when flashing a rom it hasn't have the ability to flash the boot.img by itself
you have 2 options:
flash 4ext recovery which has the smartflash feature or
flash the boot.img of the rom manually
see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
step 2 for flashing the recovery
extra 1 step for flashing the boot.img
best wishes

Sorry for the noob question :s
I was thinking if it was possible say with root explorer from the market!?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
No, unless you have CWM installed.
I do have cwm installed
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
Yes, download a ROM using your phone, use a file manager like astro to then move the ROM to the root of your SD card, then use it to check the md5 check sum to make sure you don't have a corrupt download, then flash as you would normaly throught CWM.....that's it.
Remember to do a backup of your current ROM first...

tats wat i like about android over iphone
with custom recovery, root explorer or any other file explorer, u can flash any rom on the go w/o the aid of a pc.
what i do is install astro explorer - having the option to check md5sum
download any rom from anywhere...
after finish download, use astro n move the rom.zip to root of sd card, boot into recovery n flash it
I must add : make sure the rom can be flash with cwm, if not you could semi-brick your phone. But custom roms are usually made for cwm flashing. Only official rom can't be flashed via cwm they are usually in .exe file, but you can also find them in zip file sometimes and you must extract it before flashing via pc.
How do you install the offical .exe roms then? And how do I check md 5 sum?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
Just follow the directions when you open the .exe
Warning though - you'll lose S-OFF and CWM
google for md5 checker

I flashed the stock wwe eur ruu and it left my phone s-off, even though it flashed the h-boot. It did put the recovery back to stock though and lost root, which can easily be sorted.

The only thing that is the ROM sizes are over 300mb and I hit the tmobile 5gb cap so many times downloading on my phones data so I need to use WiFi more... But with the nexus one most roms were under 80 mb so it wasn't a problem . But its still cool you can switch roms on the fly

Official rom (RUU) are only b able to flash via pc unless u extract the upsate.zip n put it in ur root of ur sdcard.. well of coz extracting n moving it needs the pc too...
As for md5sum, astro manager does the trick.. press n hold on the zip file n press "properties" u will c all the details of the file include date time n of coz the md5sum. Do give it some time to load up the details though.
I saw a thread somewhr tat theres a md5checksum app in the market.. u might wanna check it out too..

Hello.
I have some questions regarding the official bootloader unlocker:
How would I flash files If I do it.
Do I then need to flash custom recovery?
Do you have it ?
I would be very grateful if you could answer those questions
Do you mean how would you flash files over once you're rooted?

Nope. I mean how does the official unlocked bootloader work ? How do you flash files ?
Well you will need a recovery to flash files. And you will find it if you google 4ext recovery. Go ahead and copy and paste that into search engine. U het its the first that that pops up.
Once you've installed recovery then read the installation instructions on any thread you get you zip from. I have faith you can figure that much out.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
It depends if you're unlocking via the HTC tool or rEVOlutionary, if it's the later it would automatically ask you of you wanted it to flash a custom recovery, but yeah you need a recovery to flash And back up files

Hi,
Please follow THIS THREAD
Take the Rom.zip file that you have flashed and you will need to go to your pc or laptop and unzip it and then it will create a folder and then you will open that folder and scroll down and you will see a folder that will say kernel open it and you will see a file called boot.img you will copy it to the same folder that you have your adb and fastboot drivers in and then open up your cmd and type your commands to get your fastboot driver's working and then typ fastboot flash boot boot.IMG press enter and then type fastboot reboot and watch the magic
sent from my HTC sensation 4g using xda premium
And to flash those rom's you have listed you will need to flash the correct firmware and you need to have s off first before you can flash ics rom's

But what exactly do i type in command line prompt to get the fastboot driver working

You want to have s-OFF not on.
Soff you will have more capability. So you will want to s off
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
can you please follow the extra 1 step ..from the link given by malybru(2nd or 3rd post i think) ..atleast you will come out of bootloop after that ..then you can try SOFF or whatever
I turned s off and I flashed ordroid v9 and it was stuck on the white HTC screen. It turned black for like three seconds then returned to the HTC boot screen.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Did you follow the thread that malybru linked to? I am on hboot 1.27 and s-on and I can flash every ICS rom out there that supports firmware 3.32-3.34, which is by far the most, if not all.
And thank you malybru for pointing me in the right direction.

what do you mean you turned s off? Did you follow the procedure to s off the device because s off is not a button you can turn off. It is a procedure to disable security. Once your s off you can flash without trouble. Please read the link provided to the procedure. If you are s off you should not have these issues.
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
Yes I followed the procedure and now I have s off. When I flashed ordroid it didn't even reach the beats audio boot screen as I said before it shows the.white HTC logo screen, turns black, then goes back to the HTC screen.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Are you supercid? Maybe try that if youre not yet
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk
Did you use the correct 3.32 firmware? If
Not thats the issue. All ics roms must have 3.32 firmware.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
1. RUU back to latest stable, that way you have all of the proper bootloaders and radios.
2. Follow numerous guides in dev section about S-Off and flashing the correct firmware.
3. Flash recovery.
4. Flash rom of your choice.
Should get it all taken care of for you. Good luck! :cyclops:
Finally I got it to work on ordroid so I can tell the changes (volume, settings, etc) but when I go home it says loading then says 'unfortunately, HTC has stopped"
Then I return to my previous launcher. THIS ISN'T OVER

Hello all, got my HTC Sensation few hours ago! and im already stuck on a bootloop D: lol
So I found out it was hboot 1.18 (still had gingerbread), so I used the root method included in an AIO program.
Everything went fine, I'm s-off'd with 4ext recovery.
Then I wanted to do the superCID thing, but I flashed latest 3.33 universal firmware full from joaquinf thread first, and it never booted correctly, it restarted on the bootanimation always. So I tried flashing a the 100% stock deodexed rom of mike1986 and it also bootlooped.
So I came here to ask, cuz idk what to do now.
Thanks!
Once you upgrade the firmware file you need to DELETE the pg58img file off the root of your sd card or it will continue to update over and over when you go into bootloader. After you updated your firmware did you delete the file? Hope this helps.
Sent from my Sensation Z710e using xda premium
Yes, I deleted the file with my computer. The thing is that im always stuck at the bootanimation and it restarts.
Are you trying a gingerbread rom with that fw? If so that's your problem and flash a ics rom and your done.
If that doesent work try flashing something like cm9/10 or touch cream.

There is currently no way to s-off the HTC One S. Best you can do is bootloader unlock.
My phone is boot load unlocked but I tryed installing vemon ROM but when I install it and reboot it gets stuck on load up for some reason. But on install it says something about being (s-off) I don't understand what its asking for then :/

Luckily you probably misnoticed that, no One S ROM needs S-Off to install AFAIK.
OK so why does it not boot up when I install the vemon rom? It shows blank black screen...

Did what? Anyways this is a symptom of not flashing the boot.img properly. Do it using fastboot, there is a whole guide on doing this stickied in the development section.
Do like others have said, fastboot boot.img or try using TWRP recovery.
One of the rom threads has a boot.img script. Just replace the boot image on that script folder with yours and run the script.
HTC One S TmoUS
Maybe it isn't the boot.img..maybe he chose full wipe in AROMA and it didn't flash. Try flashing by manually full wiping and then not full wiping in AROMA, then it should boot after you fastboot the boot.img.
