[Q] Two questions related to Xperia Play ROM's. - General Questions and Answers

Hello guys !
I wanted to ask if it is possible to lock back the bootloader after I unlocked with the official SE method and if it will work the official updates from SE in the future ?
And the other question, when ICS will appear officially for Xperia Play, and I have my bootloader unlocked, how could I have the newest version of Android on my phone ? Do I need to root the phone in order to have it, or it is enough to have the bootloader unlocked.
Regards.

No it is not possible to relock your bootloader. Update: Sony decide to dump ICS all together.

Not sure if it will work for Sola, but you may want to check out the test point metod to unlock the bootloader. You won't lose DRM. you can also relockmthe B any time you want.
fter 2 days of long hours of failure attempts, im so frustrated now. xda users say its not safe to unlock bootloader if phone's manufacturing date is over 11W29+, which will results in hard brick. my sola has date of 12W38, but i see many guide in unlocking sola's bootloader. so what the heck is all this bout? btw how to tell whether bootloader has been unlock? i used flashtool n i my sola reboot from fastboot. it seems ok(can be use) but i dono whether the bootloader is unlock......im so damn confused right now. this drives me so crazy........

Are you still looking for an answer about how to tell if bootloader is locked or unlocked?
just try to update with pc companion or update service , if it says modified software then the bootloader is unlocked , if it still continues ( cancel it ) then it means its locked.. I've not tried it but read it here.

[Q] SK17a ICS Update, Root?

Hello, people!
I have a SK17 that still in the warranty period, so I don`t want to unlock it`s bootloader because of it. I`ve been noticed by e-mail today that the Wotan Server has the ICS update now avaliable for my device and i just want to know if that rooting method that root without unlock the bootloader will work after the update, i mean, is possible update the Android version without changing the FW version?
So I can keep my rootable .58 and have ICS running in my device. Another question is about the battery life. It is worth the upgrade? Thanks and sorry for the poor english. =D

[Q] xperia ZR rooting

Hello Experts,
I'm fairly new to this world.. Hope you guys will help me out..
My Questions are,
-What is Custom ROM & Stock ROM with regard to Rooting?
-How to root Xperia ZR?
-What is flashing the drive?
-When I type *#*#7378423#*#*, it says in software info section-- you phone doesn't support firmware version read.
Also in configuration section, Rooting status: Bootloader unlock allowed: YES
-What is locked boot loader and unloacked boot loader?
All I want is to install 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 on ZR.
Eagerly waiting to get some guidelines/ tutorials.
Thanks & Regards,
Anshul

hi anshul,
a warm welcome to the world of xda-developers forum...
A Stock ROM is the ROM which is came with your phone. it is more stable but lacks customisation...
A Custom ROM is the ROM made for your phone by a developer (eg. cyanogen mod). It has more customisation but buggy, stable releases also there...
For Xperia ZR rooting guide see this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427995
Flashing is nothing but replacing with another software (e.g. flashing recovery)
in some phones bootloader is locked by manufacturers such that we cant able to install another os to the phone.. if we unlock the bootloader then we can able to flash roms and install os...
hope i cleared all your doubts...:good:
dont hesitate to ask any doubts to xda...

Some information about updates

Hello, everyone!
Just wanted to tell you guys to calm down. System updates are always late.
If there is a possibility for unlocking bootloader on Sony's site, than the update will definitely be.
Even if it won't be 4.3, we will be able to create customs, such as MIUI, Cyanogenmod, or port roms from other phones.
You just dont know how to wait!
Yeah. I don't care much if there's no 4.3 update. I just want our device's bootloader can be unlocked
Totally agree with you guys. Especially now that Android 4.4 is already available for other MT6589 devices, who really needs 4.3? And now that Sony is already issuing unlock codes, hopefully the next update will result in the much awaited bootloader unlock "yes" status.

Hhmmm.....
I don't care about Android 4.3 update, what I want from Sony that they just unlock the boot loader
and then we can then create Custom Roms for Xperia C...
