(I am sorry, I miss-seen the question checkbox, I hope a moderator can solve this for me, thanks for understanding!)
Hello,
This is my first topic on xda-developers, so I'm willing to do my outerst best to make this as understandable as possible!
After four search results, I could not really find anything similar with a related answer so I'm making a topic about this.
I got the HTC Sensation XE, Android version: 2.3.4, with HTC Sense 3.0.
Now after rooting it using revolutionary, and enjoying my phone for the weeks after I noted that I got the abillity to do an update.
This update is a 8.97MB performance update, and I would love to install that!
Now here is the issue,
When trying to update, it downloads the update, it shuts down the phone and as soon as it starts installing I get the android boot error.
The phone starts up fine again, but the update is not installed.
I already tried to restore my phone to the state it was BEFORE I rooted it, but that still gave me the same result. I also tried to reset to factory settings, wich also did not work.
Does anyone have a clue where to proceed further?
Thanks in advance,
Tobie
I'm not too sure but when I used to have a Desire I had the exact sane issue, and it's actually down to the CID (Customer I.D)
If you do a few searches you should be able to find out how to get back to a stock CID. You cannot install OTA updates from HTC on rooted and custom Rom phones.
Restore your CID to HTC_0001 (I think) and it should work, can't remember though so Google about.

Hey jaaystott,
Thanks for your quick reply, I tried a tutorial with Android Recovery manager.
it went smooth, and I'll be updating you if the update proceeds!
I am from The Netherlands, I didn't see the update untill I manually checked for it.
Thanks,
Tobie
It's okay, if the process doesn't work don't panic!
Your update is probably carrier specific then (unless your unbranded) but this update doesn't seem to be appearing in the UK.
Hope you get your phone updating soon!

Hello everyone,
This is my first post and sorry if this question was already answered, but I couldn't find the answer to my particular question when I searched for it. I just recently got my Sensation for T-Mobile a couple weeks ago and rooted it but do not have the S-OFF because of the OTA update to 2.3.4 so I used the HTC unlock method. Is there any way I can get the s-off because I am finding it difficult to flash a lot of ROMs I want to try since a lot of them either never load or they just go into an infinite boot loop? Thanks for all your help and advice and I'm hoping I can gain more knowledge thru you guys since this was a big leap for me from a Blackberry 9700.
I recently rooted my HTC Sensation and got the s off following the directions provided here on xda. Then installed Revolution HD. No issues with that either. I just followed the directions there also. Did it not work for u?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
No, it didn't work for me. My friend told me that the alpharev method used here on the forums wouldn't work because I downloaded the OTA update to 2.3.4 when I first received it out of the box. He told me that only the htc unlock method would work to root my phone but I wouldn't have S-off. My phone is currently rooted right now with no s-off so certain ROMs won't flash or they will butt I'll hey errors in them.
I find that strange. I'm no expert but my Sensation was running stock Android 2.3.4 before I rooted and it reads that s is off. I went to revolutionary.io/ download for Windows filled in the info for the beta key save the zip file and and launch it then enter the beta key. Then just follow the prompts from there. Did u do that?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
Yup, I did exactly that a number of times but it didn't work. That's weird. Maybe someone else on here can help me get full s-off on my sensation. What's your service provider ? Cuz mine is T-Mobile and it came stock 2.3.3 but I did the OTA update and was able to root it but get no s-off
hi,
just to share my experience ... On Asian Starhub
i have updated to 2.3.4 via OTA before i root and s-off, and eventually supercid.
Followed the guide step by step.
The rooting , s-off and supercid process is smooth as butter ( as some dev quoted ).
Flashed Bulletproof 1.4 and now InsertCoin 3.3.0.
Perhaps u can provide more phone details like your current Hboot version and which part of the process you are stuck so that some experienced member can help u out easier.

Same here. 2.3.4 OTA and I am fully rooted with S-Off. Followed the guide step by step. Used Revolutionary.io with no problem. Be sure you enter your beta key in exactly, its case sensative. I'm also on TMOUS.

So it worked ok for the Sensation XE? I'm about to upgrade my phone from the Desire (s-off, root, leedroid hd 3.3.3 data++) and was wondering if the revolutionary route would work (really want the XE!). Had no issues at all with the Desire and would wait to upgrade if there were issues.
Thanks.

Sorry if I'm asking the obvious or if this has already been covered, but did you first go to the HTC dev. site and follow their specific instructions for unlocking the bootloader? If not, do that first, then use Revolutionary to root/s-off, wipe your phone to factory (I always wipe dalvik cache and cache partition, too), then flash whatever ROM and kernel you want.
Let me know if that helps any.

Very cool. Can't wait to upgrade to this phone. Sensation looked great before, but these latest two (LE screen too big for my tastes) are looking amazing!
Ok guys, thanks for the input. I'll be sure to fill you in if I'm havng any difficulties...I'll try it again today.
I'm also on Tmobile 10 plus years. After following the steps and entering the beta key added the Su zip and it kept s off. You are prop missing something in between. Make sure u are entering the right hboot of your phone otherwise the beta key will be incorrect. Did u set up connection to HTC sync when u did it?

Ok guys, I tried getting s-off again tonite. Mind you my phone is already rooted but has s-on. I have a custom ROM flashed on it currently, I ran the revolutionary app and it suddenly closed on me and i also got an unforseen FC on the home screen of the phone. I flashed back to my nandroid backup of my stock rooted ROM and still the same thing. Suggestions? I saw on another post I should try doing this on a different computer. I tried different methods of connecting the phone via usb with mounting it as a drive, charge only, htc sync but to no avail. I did have htc sync running and it did sync up properly.
I tot we should uninstall HTC sync .... Only leave the HTC drivers alone ....
Maybe someone can advise on this ....

Is there specific drivers I need to install? It doesn't say in the guide.
When u install , then uninstall HTC sync . The HTC sync drivers will be removed but HTC drivers remains . That's the drivers we want to keep. Alternatively , u can just install the HTC drivers. But u got to search for it elsewhere. I think its HTC 3.7.0.01 drivers or something .... ( if I can remember correctly )

As I received my brand nu Xe yesterday, I'm now on rooting it to delete unwanted apps.
I'm comming from Leo with Nand roms, where flashing was easier as rooting Android devices to me
Tried different threads, found different unanswerd questions about rooting, Hroot, S-off and stuff but to be honest, I have no clue how to do it with the XE.
I had the MAGDLR on it so flashing was like playing with toys, but now,....can't go on.
The stock rom which is on board on my TMO_DE XE is okay for me, no nned to flash another rom, but all I wanna do is to get rid of all unwanted sys app I never us.
Can anyone give me a helping hand on this?
thx in advance

Look on YouTube, theirs loads of videos on how to get s-off and rooting. Being the sensation XE doesn't make it any different from the original sensation just XE processors clock limit is 1.5ghz so follow guides for either

Hi there,
I just went to revolution website and followed the instructions in this topic: -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
I had no issues (I didnt super-cid or whatever its called). May I also recommend you look at InsertCoin ROM V3.4.4, it is fast and causes no issues. if you want 2.3.4 Sensation XE ROM, Virtuous v2.2 is great.....I'm stuck deciding which of these two to use as my daily
Good luck
LoL,
I successfully S-Offed my Xe now and downloaded the rom manager.
so, do I still need to run busybox or something?

you don't need busy box. If you are already S off and have clock work installed. You are good to go. Get you a ROM, transfer to sd, enter recovery, and flash away.
HTC Sensation 4G
CMR says that its NOT rooted, but I did with that revolutionary tool and it also downloaded CMR, but I can't find it
You need to flash a recovery through fastboot, then flash superuser through recovery. (or just flash a new rom) to get root

Be careful though because some apps may rely on the apps your about to delete, to function so be careful dude

If you got the custom recovery, and you are rooted, then download an app (this one),that way you can lock those apps that you don't need, so you can save some RAM, and battery.
If you're worried you're doing it wrong you might be
check out the guide in my sig. Very simplified and noobproof.
Thank you guys,
fortunatly I decided to flash a custom rom Now its rooted and I can delete the unwanted apps Damned, Xe is fast as hell. Guessed, Leo was, but now it breaks records
used the guide in the post about and it works well. here is the link again. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20254365#post20254365

Wrong forum. this is the XL forum. THe XE and XL are completely different phones.
The guide for the Sensation and XE are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Best of luck.
that method not working
unfortunately, it is probably best if you ask the question in that forum though, as your question is not about sensation XL (which this forum is for) and the forum that was linked above is for SENSATION and SENSATION XE.
unfortunately in my case HTC Super tool v3 and revolutionary are not working. I am not able to S-off my HTC Sensatio XE (with beats audio) 2.3.4. I dont know what is wrong.
Is it possible that since i have downloaded the update HTC Super tool v3 is not working? also revolutionary is giving error and failed to root. Can you please help
My phone is on Android Version 2.3.4, and I checked and it appears there is an update from the "HTC Software Updates".
I try to run the update but get the blue android and the exclamation mark. I have S-Off and a custom recovery. Can someone please point me in the right direction on what I would need to do so that I can update my phone?
Thank you.
Hello,
Can you provide more information about this Update OTA have you received?
The size? (exemple: 100 mb)
Please give a screen of the update notification (not the error screen)
Thank you
I got an update notification too, but its just for HTC Twitter as far as I'm aware

@SychoSly: Please confirm this update is for Twitter ?
Because For France this update came nearly one month ago for HTC Sensation et Sensation XE.
I have attached a screenshot of the update. It does not say what the update is, just that is: 14.24MB.
Thanx you,
And for you problem, please return to original recovery.

There is a guide on how to do exactly that located here on XDA somewhere. Search for it in the development forum, follow the instructions, and you'll be all set to apply the update.

Hello everyone.
So a while ago I bought my HTC Sensation XE from a local store here in Israel.
I decided to check if there are any updates available for my phone today... But it doesn't have this button?
I read in the official site that there should actually be a "check for updates" option in Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now. But I don't have it?
I also think that my phone is rooted and I have a custom ROM but I don't know if this is true.
If it is true, is there a way to reset it to a state where it won't be rooted and will have the stock ROM? I know there is some way with a RUU but I don't want to risk it with the wrong one, so if this is the way could you please direct me to the right RUU and instructions?
If you need more info I would be happy to provide it but I don't know what to provide and where is it so if you would be kind enough to direct me to the info you need so I can provide it, it will be great.
If this isn't the case, then why don't I have this button? How will I update my phone?
Thanks!
RUU's: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559
I believe you need Windows to flash the RUU, not sure about the exact steps though since I've never used it.
To check if your phone is rooted see if you have the Superuser app and that it works i.e. you can open apps like Titanium Backup without getting errors.
On custom ROM's the Over The Air updates wont work so we (ROM chefs/devs) remove it from the settings menu

Will I be able to update to ice cream sandwitch when the official update comes out if I leave my phone like this? As there is no update button...
If not, how do I know exactly which RUU do I need? And can you direct me to the instruction of how to do it?

Greetings,
I currently have a Sensation 4g on TMOUS. It is unlocked, rooted and S-OFF. I was running Revolution HD 2.3.4 with beats audio on my phone. Works perfectly.
Today I tried to upgrade to Revolution HD 4.0.3 with beats audio but I cannot get past the booting screen. I've super wiped and then installed the custom rom but it wont go past the first boot. I even waited 30 minutes and nothing happens. It just shows the beats logo. I have the same problem with the 4.0.3 without the beats audio. Any ides on how i could make it work? Is there something I am doing wrong?
Thank you,
Radu.
Sounds like its a firmware problem. What firmware is the Rom you want to download require and are you updating that firmware in your Hboot before you install the rom?
Find my post in general will help you out

Edit. Don't forget to delete the firmware file off your SDcard once you updated it. If you leave it on there everytime you do recovery it will want to do a update.. just some advice..
