Hello I am considering purchasing a Nexus S to take advantage of google wallet and NFC. I have a few questions before I buy, any helpful info would be appreciated!
1.I'm going to be getting a sprint branded nexus s and flashing to boost mobile. Will the nfc and google wallet features still work ok?
2.Do both 3G and 4G nexus s support these features?

1. Not sure but nexus phones are unbranded so as long as the frequencies are the same your fine
2. Only the nexus s 4G has Google wallet officially(think you need to be in us as well)

im with sprint and i had the htc evo 4g for a long time then had sprint switch it for a nexus s 4g and i have never been happier. im running ICS as a daily *STABLE* driver with g-wallet! the nexus s will still continue to get google updates before any other phone for a while longer. so im sure youll love the phone!

I have the opportunity to get a Nexus S 4G for cheap. I have wanted to try one, but I had and Epic 4G and Samsung was horrible with rolling out updates. I'm not sure if I want to go the Samsung route again.
My question is is the Nexus S 4G updated at the same time as the Nexus S on other carriers or would I have to wait for Samsung to release just for the 4G? I don't want to rely on Samsung for updates.

Yes... it's still a pure google phone, not a samsung touchwiz phone. it just has a different radio. in fact, as of right now the nexus s 4g has google wallet while the nexus s doesn't.
Google does the updates not Samsung.

I could not find info on it, hence the question: the stock, unrooted update of my Nexus S to ICS will contain/ enable Google Wallet with NFC paying option?
As Galaxy Nexus is -according to the posts- having issues with Wallet/NFC I was wondering whether the Nexus S will have the same issues as well..
Sprints version will support it. The GSM won't.

Do You mean with "GSM" the unbranded, genuine, Google ICS OTA update? In this case sad news, I would be happy to see NFC (Wallet, Mastercard, Paypal etc) paying options on my loved NS..
Please, a short answer? I really like my NS, but I also believe in NFC, as the payment of the next years (decade?): if ICS won't give an NFC paying option I'd better look further..
The same reason it is not on the GSM nexus s running gb applies to ics as well.
hi there
currently i have htc mytouch 4g and was planning to change my htc mytouch 4g
i was planning for taking nexus s is this recommended upgrade ???
is nexus s 4g available on gsm career???
what are the main cons of nexus s ???
please help me to decide i have shortlisted 2 phones htc sensation and samsung nexus s
I have never owned a sensation/mytouch but have made the following observations on the Nexus S.
Pros: unlockable boot loader, massive number of quality custom ROMs, quick OTA updates, quality hardware
Cons: None yet
Don't get the nexus s if your contract is 24 months, in two years this phone will be outdated a lot

No the 4G version is only for Sprint. No GSM carriers. I would wait for the Galaxy Nexus to come to the US as a GSM.
So excuse my ignorance in advance. I am one of those few people on the planet that actually has decent coverage where I live with Sprint, so thats why I dont buy a GSM addition of this device. My question is are there any roms for the Sprint addition of this device? I have been through a ton of threads and do not see anything specifically mentioning Sprint. I had the Nexus S and the Galaxy Nexus and the development was there for those devices, of course not to the extent that the gsm carriers received but it was there. I am getting that Nexus twitch but I dont want to buy the Sprint version if there isnt any development for it. Thanks all, in advance.
No questions in general forums.
The Nexus 5 is just the Nexus 5 no matter what provider it's running off.

There is no Sprint edition of the Nexus 5. The same singular Nexus 5 has radios compatible with Sprint (CDMA/EVDO), AT&T and T-Mobile (GSM/UMTS/HSPA+), and LTE for all three. Simple as that.
There is only a North America version (D820) and a European/Rest-of-the-world version (D821). Difference is only the LTE bands.
Google did it right with the Nexus 5, no variants of the Nexus. They're all the same:thumbup:
I am a Verizon customer and have also been playing around with Straight Talk ATT with a Nexus 5 and a OnePlus One (luck invite). Where I live east of Cleveland, the only reliable signal is with Verizon. I do not like any of the phones available now on Verizon. I am thinking about buying a GN and flashing CM11 on it to make it ASOP without Verizon's fingerprints all over it.
How capable is the GN in a land of apps being developed for Quad core phones and how much longer would the GN be useable? I can flash using ADB/Fastboot and am pretty capable of doing most of the stuff I need to do to mod a phone.
Just wanting to hear some users who are currently using their GN as a daily and if it is a capable device for 2014-2015.
Thanks!
