Mounting SDcard... always a problem - T-Mobile LG G2x

Well ive tried various Roms.... formatted the card and the internal storage in CWM. Also partitioned the card using the windows program MiniTool Partition Wizard.
and still i get issues when i want to mount sdcard.
It seems like they (internal/external sd card) each take turns mounting.
Anybody help me out???

I've had problems mounting my sd card as well, tried several things, what worked for me was to use a different cable to connect the phone to my PC (even though the cable I was using before still works for other devices!). Try it, might work. Good luck

[Q] SD Card Damaged?

Got a new MicroSD card today, chucked it in and tried to partition it using Amon 2.0, it did ext2 fine then crashed on remaining space as fat32. had to reboot phone and now SD card isnt working correctly. if i put it in sd reader in pc it shows up as a 16mb partition FAT and if i try to partition it in AMON it just says its done after 1 second. If i try to repair using AMON it says use FS REPAIR in ADB. Im a noob but i ran ADB from cmd line, it detects my desire when i run adb devices but if i run FS REPAIR as recommended it says no ext partition found???? Tried booting a GParted livecd and running Gparted yet this doesnt show my device/sd card either?? How can i repair this card?????
Try putting it in a camera and formatting it there.
That fixed my SD card issues.
I had the same problems but didn't have any card readers or cameras to try out. Instead I found this: androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-manually-partition-your-sd-card-for-android-apps2sd/ worked fine. (sorry about the link)
It can be a little difficult and tedious but was the only method which worked for me.

[Q] External SD wont mount to computer

As the tittle says, my external SD card will no longer mount to my computer. The internal mounts just fine. I can see the external using a file explorer when USB mass storage isn't connected. I use my external card as a "thumbdrive" constantly and it has always mounted just fine, this just cropped up today.
I am running Bionix2 if that makes a difference.
What can I try to get it mounting properly again?
UPDATE:
I have tried turning on and off USB debugging
I have tried pulling the SD card, booting, turning back off, reinserting the SD card and booting again.
I have tried uninstalling the LG driver from the computer and reinstalling it (ADB)
None of these have worked.
The empty drive shows up in "computer" as a drive, the SD card just never mounts to it. When USB mass storage is ON the SD card definitely unmounts from the phone.
This is very frustrating as I need some files off the card and I don't have access to a micro SD card reader.
UPDATE2:
Got the files I needed by copying them from the external card to the internal card, connecting, mounting and copying them from the internal card to my computer. It is still a PITA though not as urgent as it was.
So last night I pulled the SD card, copied everything off and formatted it on my computer, didn't change a thing. I was then going to reload the ROM I am using. This didn't work as I am running external CWM recovery and it wouldn't mount the SD card either.
As a last effort before trying another card, I formatted (erase=format?) the card through Android. Everything seems to work fine again. I copied everything back to the SD card without an issue. CWM sees it again as well.
What could have caused the card to spontaneously need to be reformatted through Android after working perfectly well for 2 months?

I had the same issue, I think when you install different roms some use different ext for the drives, thats why its critical that after each rom you wipe wipe wipe, and as we know now, lol format sd card

[Resolved] 64gb micro sd not working

So I got a new 64gb micro sd card for Christmas and it doesn't seem to work on my phone whatsoever. Every time I put it into my phone it says it's damaged and that I need to format it, but instead of formatting it, it erases all my files in the internal storage. I didn't realize it the first time and it was very annoying to find out it did that. The micro sd card does however, work on my pc. So I've tried to format the sd card mutiple times on my pc , using different apps and formatting it to different types, but none of it seems to be working. I do not think it has anything to do with my cfw I have on because I changed it and I'm still having the same problem. So any help or suggestions would be appreciated as I would really like to have the extra storage on my phone.
You have to format it as FAT32. Skyrockets won't read it if it's formatted any other way.

Damaged SD Card

Hi guys,
My phones micro-sd card has been acting strange and was not being recognized at times by my phone. I then proceeded to put it in its SD card adapter and put it in my Mac and got an error saying the card was unreadable. I then put it in a reader on my PC and everytime I try to access the drive it gives me the 2 errors, "You need to format the drive...etc" and after clicking cancel it says that my drive is an unrecognized file format.
Recuva says it can't read the boot sector and running chkdsk gives me the message that the file format is RAW.
Just tried running ReclaiMe file recovery and it says the card is only 30.6MB while it is actually a 32GB card.
Do you guys think there is any hope? Or should I just move on?
Any help would appreciated. Got a lot of pictures and music I would love to save on the drive, plus ROM backups.
Thanks so much

I've killed an SD card before.. not sure how.. it had been partitioned EXT3 for a rom on a desire.. then re-formatted to normal..
but the problem came months after without notice one day the camera was failing and the gallery wouldn't open..
I tried a new SD card and things were fine so I figured the SD card died
Try to use MiniTool Partition Wizard on your pc, and delete ext partition and swap stay only on fat32. if that does not work format your card to exfat. If that doesn`t work try use program "winhex"(before i used it, my computer hadnt read my card). I repaired my card 3 times these methods.
You can use this ONLY on memory card reader.

sd card unable to mount

Hi all,
I recently installed wicked v9.1 rom on my T-mobile Galaxy S3. Prior to that I was running Wicked v8 and everything was fine. I have a 64gb Sandisk sd card and it was working fine until this flash. I put the card in my pc and all my files are still on there and accessible so I backed them up on my PC. Then I formatted my sd card to exfat and tried mounting in the phone again, it gives me the same problem: It says preparing sd card/checking for errors, then it just says sd card is safe to remove. I tried going into settings to mount it but it does the same thing and doesn't offer a format option. I'm not sure what the problem is here since it works perfectly fine on my PC, I even ran a chkdsk /f on it and no errors were found. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I may not have the same device as you, but I've run into the exact same problem with two of my sd cards. My phone refused to recognize my sd card, even though Windows reported it as working fine. When I looked into the storage info, I was not able to format the card as well.
I tried the non-working memory cards in a few other Android devices with similar results - they were not being read. This led me to conclude that there was something wrong with the card, or more specifically, how Android handled the sd card.
On one of my cards (Generic Brand 1GB), a simple format with MiniTool Partition Wizard fixed the problem. On the other hand, a 16GB Patriot card refused to work after multiple formats (regular and deep). I t was still under warranty though and the replacement works fine.
As a last ditch effort, look and see if your SD manufacturer offers any special formatting utilities.
Hope this helped!
