Android Issues Fastboot and no OS - HTC Desire S

I have been using a number of ROM's on here for awhile, and decided to revert back to stock, so i followed the Revert to Stock thread on here. when i did this, the RRU install crashed and i was left with an Android phone that has Fastboot on it and that it, no android OS, just fastboot.
Now i litterally have a S-ON Phone with Fastboot and nothing else.
I cannot run the RUU install, as it says Bootloader version error.
any idea's?

I'm not sure how HTC-Dev works but could you unlock the bootloader through HTC-Dev? At least this will give you an unlocked bootloader.

Unfortunately not, as i believe to use adb you need to be able to boot into android OS, which i cannot, as i don't have one. Literally i only have Fastboot on my phone.
Good idea though.
If anyone can correct me on that (adb only works in Android OS)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412398
however it does not work for me, errors when trying to load it.i need to install a recovery image but i get the following
remote: 12 signature verify failed

Try to install this rom. I think you have a Vodafone phone.

Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App

If not you have to s-off you Desire, install recovery and then custom firmware.

Just go to htcdev.com, click unlock bootloader and follow the instructions, had the same problem. Then you'll be able to flash custom recovery and then rom.

sorry getting confused about which forum i'm on, as i have this on two.
The HTCdev.com instructions don't work, its gets stuck at "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" I have installed everything it asks for but for some reason it wont work it just says that comment is not valid

In this situation you need a Vodafone RUU with the same or higher version - impossible at this point (there is no such as far as I know).
So you can create a Goldcard and try with European unbranded 2.10.401.9 RUU
It is a higher version compared to the one you currently have and will debrand your phone also on success.
There is a guide somewhere around how to create a Goldcard without a device (I think it was for WinMobile, but the procedure is the same for Android)
This is your only option I am afraid (with fastboot and S-ON)
Good luck

Can i create a Goldcard on another Desire S and use it in this one? as i have two

If you don't get the goldcard to work, enjoy your new brick. ;-)
I warned the idiot who created that thread that this would happen, did he listen? plain and simply, no.

Also worth noting certain microSD cards are rather temperamental with being converted into a GoldCard.

This is true.
But to be sure he can also search for the thread I was referring to in my first post here. There is an open source app that can do this (actually the Goldcard trick depends on the SDcard cid so it should work on any device, but I cannot verify this info from my personal experience. Actually I have never created a Goldcard myself but used to guide people and they did it sucessfully)

How to make GoldCard
GoldCard Tool v0.0.5
Requirements:
Latest HTC Sync software installed (www.htc.com)
Spare microSD card
Windows PC (Tested on Windows7 x64,Vista x86)
.Net Framework 2.0
Step by step instructions:
Format the microSD card to FAT32 format.
Put the microSD card in your device and boot it.
Launch GoldCard Tool (Right Click and run as Admin if needed)
Connect Android device to USB (USB Debugging must be enabled on the device)
Click 'Get CID' (If MMC1 fails try MMC0)
Click the link to open revskills.de, enter the CID number from Goldcard Tool and create your goldcard image, which will be e-mailed to you.
Enable USB Mass Storage on the device.
Click 'Refresh' and select your microSD card in the drop down menu.
Click 'Load GoldCard.img' and open the .img file you got by email.
Click 'Patch MMC'
You now have a goldcard!
[Notes]
HTC Sync is required for drivers only
Android SDK is not required
Stolen from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6710085&postcount=3

@zeekiz
Its also worth nothing that..... The guide you suggested uses mmc0/1 *the app only supports those) and not mmc2
Sooooo, at OP...
Download the app "Goldcard Helper" to ger you CID, USE the mmc2 one (the otheris your phones internal memory).
If you rather use adb here's the code
adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc2/mmc2:*/cid
Click to collapse
but remember you'll need to reverse that and add the leading zeros........ So rather use the helper....
Then follow on rom here;
Click the link to open revskills.de, enter the CID number from Goldcard Tool and create your goldcard image, which will be e-mailed to you.
Enable USB Mass Storage on the device.
Click 'Refresh' and select your microSD card in the drop down menu.
Click 'Load GoldCard.img' and open the .img file you got by email.
Click 'Patch MMC'
You now have a goldcard!

hey guys he cannot download from Market, use adb or toggle USB storage, remember?
This was the guide I was referring to.
Iam writing this to share my experience reviving my phone ! my problem was that I flashed an official 3.14 rom with an 3.03 spl on a branded htc hd2 ! the vendor never released a rom even the first one!
So I found my selef stuck with boot loader screen ! no way to make a gold card cause I have no other winmo phone!
After some research in the net this some useful links!
1- to get your CID on a PCI SD card reader (not an usb reader) without a winmo phone!
http://jo0ls-dotnet-stuff.blogspot.c...rd-serial.html
2- after getting the CID don’t forget to reverse the CID before using it on PSAS (how to make a gold card tutorial)
3- write the image on an SD card

thanks to samsamuel and pcwe for there help

[SOLVED] Please help *Security Warning* in Hboot

Hi please could somebody help me, I have a Desire S which I got on contract from 02 with a 02 branded rom on there originally and hboot 0.98.0002.
I had S-off, 4ext recovery, upgraded to hboot 2.00.0002 and a custom rom installed.
I have flashed a offical RUU RUU_Saga_O2_UK_1.31.206.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.14_M_release_178935_signed.exe
and now I am stuck in hboot and it says **security warning** hboot version 0.98.000
I tried to flash the above o2 RUU again but it says bootloader version error, So I tried RUU 1.28, 1.47 and 2.10 with a gold card in the phone but the same error all the time.
I have also extracted the rom.zip from each of these and put it onto the goldcard renamed to PG88IMG.zip but then this says MAIN VERSION OLDER and will not flash.
Now I am really stuck on what I need to do, do I need to flash a 0.98.0002 hboot? as at the momment I have 0.98.000, if so how can I do this?
I have lost 4ext recovery, and back to S-On.
If anyone has any ideas I would be really grateful.
Thank you in advance
Cheers
edit: I think the bootloader I currently have on the phone 0.98.000 is incorrect ? , it should be 0.98.0000 or 0.98.0002? . As the hboot is S-ON is there anyway I can flash a hboot through using adb, or does it have to be S-OFF, if so is there anyway I can S-OFF in bootloader or fastboot alone, as I can't do anything else.
I think that the O2 RUU that you have used has an older hboot version (0.98.0000) than the version that was on your phone when you s-offed.
But with the Goldcard you should be able to flash it. So try another SDcard to create a goldcard, as far as I know not each one is suitable.
Do not try RUU for other brands/regions you may end up with a bricked device.

Hi thanks for your reply, I currently have 0.98.000 hboot on the phone now which is S-ON. My gold card seems to be working as it doesn't say any CID errors.
How can I tell if my device is bricked?
I can only get into hboot, and fastboot/stock recovery. The phone won't do anything else and I can't flash any rom as it says about the bootloader version, but on the bootloader it says **security warning** at the top. Is there anyway I can flash a newer hboot? or won't it let me as it is S-ON, if its S-ON will I be able to flash a hboot or even 4ext recovery to flash a rom?
If so how can I s-off just using bootloader and fastboot?
I thought goldcard is only to bypass the CID checks so you can flash a debranded RUU.
It is not exactly clear: have you tried to extract the rom.zip from the O2 RUU, rename to PG88IMG.zip and flash in hboot?
Also you have to be completely sure that your version is the O2 one.
Follow the guide in my signature to make fastboot working on your PC.
Then connect your device to the PC while in the hboot. There should be 'FASTBOOT USB' written on the phone screen.
Then open a command prompt on your PC and type:
Code:
fastboot devices {your serial number should appear}
fastboot getvar all
Post here the output that is printed in the cmd.

Thank you for your help with this
Try to put last rom.zip on sdcard with PG88IMG.zip name from version 2.10.401.8 RUU and maybe you will have new hboot 2.00.2002 and then have to unlock hboot from http://htcdev.com/.

Cannot tell that it's bricked but now your software version is 2.10.401.4.
So you have to use a European RUU with the same version or higher. Probably you have debranded your device without an intention to do so.
Try with the RUU. If this is not working maybe you can try to flash hboot through the fastboot.

There isn't a 2.10.401.4 version, but there is a
RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5_Radio_20.4801.30. 0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_219480_signed.exe
I would of thought the 2.10.401.8 should of worked?
also would I be able to flash a hboot being S-ON do you think?
I'm not sure how low my battery is also, If I plug it into the charger will it charge the phone on the bootloader do you know?

Ok so we have a nice mess here.
Your hboot and radio are still from the O2 RUU, but the main version changed to the European one. The cid is still O2 one (but with the goldcard it should not matter).
The security warning gives a chance that you are still able to have root.
So if you can enter the recovery you may be able to use adb as root.
Do the procedure, described here
If you can get the misc.img, after opening with Hex editor change the numbers to 1.31.206.1. Save the file, copy it to you SDcard and from adb flash it back:
Code:
dd if=/sdcard/misc.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17
Then try the O2 RUU again.
Do not make attempts to change the hboot yet. Try the above and post back
The phone should be charging when you connect it to your PC.

Hi there, I have tried adb devices but it doesn't come up with my device which is strange. Maybe because my device is S-ON?
Do you think if I took it to a mobile repair shop and had it jtagged to restore original software would do the trick?
thanks
Both adb and fastboot commands are working on S-ON devices.
To use adb your device should be in Recovery mode (you can enter there from the hboot menu).
Of course you can bring it to a repair shop if you do not want to mess it yourself.

Obviously adb is not working in Recovery on S-ON devices. Sorry for misleading. I have just tried on my device, the adb works while booted to OS but not in Recovery.
I am afraid that doing anything further can brick the phone completely and the repair shop is your best option.

To change it use this procedure
Give some info how did you came to this situation. It is strange to have this version with the old booltoader.
Yes, I want to give you more details but I'm not fluent in english. So I try to tell you better I can.
Phone had Endymion v3.1 rom. I noticed today that I couldn't take pictures. So I try to install another rom. After format all partition (without sdcard) and a full wipe, I flash hboot with original hboot 0.98.002. The phone has rebooted by mistake (poor handling). Unfortunately, phone become S-ON and can't do anything.
I look the procedure but don't understand:
3. tempRoot with zergRush, change version with misc_version

1. I downloaded only zergRush.zip and copy file into zip into c:\downgrade. Is it correct?

Wow. Anyway there is no undo here
1) Try to S-OFF with Revolutionary
2) Flash this hboot
3) Download a RUU for your region from here and run it on your PC

You cannot flash hboot with S-ON. DO not try to flash European RUU either. Yours is RUU_Saga_Bouygues_FR_1.31.1020.2_Radio_20.28c.30.0805U_38.03.02.16_M_release_179953_signed.exe
Since you deleted everything and no adb your last resort is a goldcard. Find someone with the same software version as you to give you a cid number. Make a Goldcard put it in your phone, run the RUU on the PC and hope for the best
I can't unlock the bootloader because, I get:

same problem buy a xtc clip
hi fullbert
i had the same problem as you are having now,i also did everything the same way as you did ,i even went to http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=revolutionary but no one even took the time to answer/help me, think there are only bots in there. so the last thing i could do was buy me a xtc clip and i managed to get my phone S-OFF again.
problem with the RUU roms is that you cant install because of the INFOversion-main: 12.10.401.5,it always says main version is older.

So there is no solution other than xtc-clip?
People know that it's a problem with INFOversion-main,so our developpers have perphaps something about it to solve my problem, isn't it?
well no solution i tried worked and i have done a lot of flashing and couldnt use adb commands as fastboot did work but got security problem or remote not allowed main version is older and i was S-ON but i hoop the devs can help you .
I hope and wait because it's will be difficult for me to get ou use xtc-clip before july 2012. So, I wait another solution.
always nothing ...

[Q] Please help...Think i messed up BIG

Hi,
My phone freezes on the boot up screen (where T-mobile pops up) I know there are LOADS of threads on help for problems like that, but I think it's fair to say, I've tried quite a few of them (or at least looked to see if they could help me) but I'm still epically stuck I'll describe what i can in order, because I tried quite a few things..... -.-
I've got Htc desire S, from T-mobile UK
Hboot- 2.00.2002
I tried to root it to get pdroid, of course, found out that i needed to downgrade it to 0.98 for zergRush......got the "Hellions with BLUE flames" message so moved on to tacoroot. it was fine until i got permission denied at the last cmd code. (the posts on the thread suggested using zergRush if tacoroot did not work -.-)
this is the most problematic part i'm guessing. I gave up on those 2 and found this "guide-how-root-desire-s" on android forums, it uses revolutionary and cwm
But while i was trying out that, i found revolutionary-0.4pre4, which sounded alot easier therefore i alternated between both since the rev 0.4 made the guide a lot easier (took out half of part 1 and whole of part 2). I managed to finish, reboot.
At this point Hboot screen had ***locked*** on top and S-off, but it was still on 2.something
I realized I had a RUU left over from one of the previous guides....(RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed)
so thinking i had to use it (since i was still on hboot 2.00.something), I stuck my phone on fastboot USB and started RUU up. it ran smoothly and soon finished, I rebooted my phone to check if i was in 0.98, which i was,and happily booted up my phone. But i didn't notice S was ON. Next thing i know, I've frozen on the boot up screen, so i take the battery out, booted to Hboot.
Now i can't access recovery menu, factory reset, and i can't reboot since it freezes on "t-Mobile" screen.
Have i broken it for good? if not what can i do to fix it?
Sorry this was a bit wordy, i didn't know what was useful so i just put it all in (well as much as i can remember accurately)
-quick summary-
HTC desire S
T-mobile
Hboot: 2.00.2002 (now 0.98)
S-ON (now, managed to have it off at a point...)
zergRush > tacoroot > revolutionary + guide using cwm recovery > messing it all up cause i forgot to put rom in SD card + used RUU > mega stuck...
I'm completely new to this rooting and stuff, please help. Thanks
edit..
oh, i don't know if it'll help but on cmd (I've installed adb, fastboot correctly) adb commands do not work, and says something like "device not found" or "waiting for device". Fastboot DOES work when on fastboot USB only.
edit....
change hboot version listed here from 2.00.002 to 2.00.2002
carelessness
Have you tried changing your miscellaneous version then running the RUU again and then use revolutionary to gain S-OFF then flash any rom you want P.S >>>> FALLOUT is probably the best at the moment
Good luck.
Hi, Duty09
Thanks for the quick reply. how do i change my misc version?i can't "adb push" since my phone wont register with cmd.....adb devices show nothing. Do i stick it in root and flash from fastboot?
Thanks

Putting that into Google and getting many results, it looks like the HBOOT version needs to be spot-on for that command to be present. What version of HBOOT are you running?
Ignore that - just reread the thread. You did have v2.00.002, but you've changed it to v0.98 something?
Have a look here http://androidforums.com/desire-s-all-things-root/444571-unlock-using-htcdev-com.html
You need HBOOT v2.* upwards to use HTCDEV unlock method.

problem is, i can't change it back, OR change it to anything

I'm having hard time to setting up adb to start.I've downloaded a recovery image.
There's nothing on top of PVT.
After some reading i worry thaat i'll screw it up if i flash the recovery without S-off and unlock bootloader.
I read somewhere that i could download a file from htcdev kernel section and flash but how to flash?i downloaded it.which program i should use to flash the file?
Get a newer RUU and flash. Check the CID and download the correct RUU for your CID.
And stop worrying so much, otherwise you won't fix anything. Flashing with different radio won't do a thing, as well as flashing a different RUU as long as you have goldcard. But since you don't have, just look for the correct RUU.
It seems like its hboot 98, just do the revolutionary ?
Sent from my HTC Desire S CoolDroid v6.0 via XDA Premium
Also a good solution. Just need to move to FASTBOOT screen.
Bluehawk, just go on with www.revolutionary.io , it will root and s-off the device. No need guide link, just open the web, and it will show you the guide, step by step, newb friendly. But remember to choose the right option, imei and sn.
By then, after complete revolutionary, be happy and fastboot flash any recovery image.
Kinda lucky situation, already hboot 98, easy to handle i think. Unless the device soft/hard bricked already.

Hye guys, first of all im amazed to see so many replies/solutions given by u guys.
Alright,i've do tried to s-off using revo but i couldn't get my device detected by revo, sigh.Tried many times but it still BLINKING ON WAITING FOR DEVICE.Tried on another pc,same result.I've installed all the driver and updated my device in device manager. On my phone,If enter vol-|power on hboot/connect usb/my device manager detects as ANDROID BOOTLOADER INTERFACE and when i entered fastboot it detects as MY HTC.I don't know where i'm doing it wrong.Or its some chip fkd up?
Now,i've installed adb/fastboot on my windows7 and adb seems not working but fastboot going good. Here's some info i've got while typing some commands:
Fastboot device - HTC14ctxxxxxx (simply typed it xx,security purpose?idk lol)
CIDNUM - HTC_621
Emmc should be Sandisk
Version-main 1.31.950.2
If possible i really wanted to S-off it so that i could flash custom recovery etc,not much hassle as official i guess. So yeah, revolutionary not detecting my device.Maybe i guess because the phone had not set to debugging etc or so prior it went dead?
So should i download a RUU and flash?which one should i go for with above cid?can i flash with fastboot command?which command should i use to locate a RUU?
Sorry guys,i'm new with android and htc.hope u guys could pardon my noobies.
Revolutionary might be running in ADB mode by default, and that's the reason it's not detecting your phone - you can't boot to the state when ADB is functional, ADB daemon starts running when the kernel is booted already. Since Revolutionary is an executable, it's not possible to manipulate it into starting directly in fastboot.
In that case, I guess, you're left with flashing the RUU.

My suggestion.
If you don't want to run into any problem try to make goldcard. It is easy. Use google search, and search for android gooldcard how to.
If you have a laptop, or cardreader it'll be a easy step.
Also before you run the RUU boot the device into fastboot. By volume down +poer button.
Don't worry.
I've messed my phone before and fix it without breaking it!
What you shouldn't do is pull out and rapid back in the battery while the phone stays at the white screen.
You can burn out the emmc chip that way.
[email protected] for the link buddy.I'll try it once i've prepared a goldcard, just incase.
[email protected] the midst of making a goldcard.Since i cant make goldcard on my phone,Tried readcid and goldcardhelper downloaded and plug my sd direct to laptop card reader but non working.I'll find someone who own an android phone and make golcard in their phone.
Appreciate you guys!Simply the best guiding forum!
UPDATE:
Got hold of a Samsung Galaxy SII,insert my 2gb unmount erase and did GoldCard Helper.I've got 2 CID as below:
mmc1:aaaa XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
mmc0:0001 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Which one should i use to create goldcard image?
Finally, the phone is up and running good!
I tried to make goldcard but not sure of the cid i should use to create image.
Went on to flash the RUU as per suggested by anaz and the phone came to life!I really appreciate everyone of you for the guide and advise.Thank you guys!

Can't get Supercid nor S-OFF on HTC One S.

Please help me, I'm desperate.
- I want to install MaximusHD ROM.
- I have HBOOT 2.15.
- I unlocked bootloader via HTCDev.
- I have CM10.1 running on my phone.
I tried this method to get Supercid, because, as far as I know, you need to have Supercid before getting S-OFF. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)
This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26516911#post26516911
I haven't even tried using the facepalm method because I can't get supercid.
After I followed all the steps correctly, I run command "fastboot oem readcid" and still get the T-MOB010 CID.
I repeated the whole process 3 times, making perfectly sure I didn't make any mistake and still, can't get supercid 11111111.
I tried using moonshine method too, but when I run distiller.exe at the end it says read and try again or something. So I just cant get S-OFF or supercid.
Please tell me how can I get MaximusHD Rom working on my phone! Please! :/

Im in the same boat, Ive found my partition is write protected and cant find any other method to do it, I have tried both moonshine (my device isnt supported) and facepalm (protected partition) methods. Ive given up and stuck with MagioRom, which is like MaximusRom, but not so stable currently, but saying that the last RC5 of Magio is stable for me so far.

Please! :/

Hi,
can you provide a log (or screenshots) of all the commands you enter and the files you push / pull?
Have you tried Moonshine S-OFF?
I can't. I didn't take screenshots, but believe me, I follow exactly the steps in the above mentioned thread to get supercid. But it just didn't stick. I keep getting T-MOB010 cid.
I think there's nothing I can do because my phone isn't supported by moonshine (I think) and my hboot is 2.15
Anyway I want to try MagioROM. Is it stable now or will it give me constant reboots?

Try to install official RUU to your phone. Before that you need reblocked your bootloader. After installation unlocked bootloader again and try get S-OFF.

+1 on Malexion's suggestion.
Being on HBOOT 2.15 is not enough. For Moonshine to work, you need to be on one of the supported firmwares listed at the top of the Moonshine OP:
3.14.531.11 (T-MOB)
3.16.666.9 (BM)
3.16.111.10 (TMO_DE)
3.16.661.4 (Telus)

If you have an RUU available for your carrier that's on one of those, it can be done..
I'm on T-Mobile US, and had accepted the OTA JB update to 3.14.531.17 before deciding to go for S-OFF. That little OTA update from .11 to .17 apparently includes some cute write protection that doesn't allow for SuperCID (among other things). As with you then, Facepalm was out of the question for me.
So I turned to Moonshine, which worked after jumping through the right hoops:
Downloaded supported RUU
Verified that RUU matched my carrier, HBOOT and baseband
Locked bootloader
Flashed RUU (in my case, I was going back to 3.14.531.11 (T-MOB))
Unlocked bootloader (you'll need to get a new unlock key from htcdev)
Ran Moonshine
Moonshine worked on the first try for me, but from reading the posts, it's clearly not as easy for everyone (especially on Windows for whatever reason).
Hopefully that helps, but happy to provide more info if you have questions.
Good luck!

Also, forgot to mention that Moonshine does not require SuperCID. I never had it and still don't. (If Moonshine S-OFF works for you, it's easy to get SuperCID if you really need it -- which I don't, so I haven't bothered yet).
T-Mobile
I'm also on T-Mobile and I wish I saw your post before I "upgraded" from .11 to .17. Quick question for you, because I just got this phone and don't know a whole lot about it. I've heard that HTC and/or Google released a jelly bean update that was horrible on the battery, and had to follow up with an update.
Is the .11 update the battery draining bad update? Is the battery drain problem something that can be fixed via a rom, rather than the update?
I guess that was more than one question, but any answers would be much appreciated. Also, if you could comment on your battery life since moving down to .11....
Yes, the .11 OTA was the first JB rollout for this phone, and the .17 OTA was released soon after to correct the battery drain issue.
I was only on the older .11 firmware for a few days before I flashed a new ROM, but it seemed pretty brutal. I'm still new to flashing ROMs, though, and I've read that it can take a new ROM a little time to optimize battery life... Not sure if that also applies to RUUs.
But it was bad enough that I would recommend only flashing the .11 firmware if you intend to switch to another ROM.
Anyhow, I flashed AOSPA 3+ a few days later and love it. A stable port, fast and fun to play with the hybrid engine. Battery life on PA has been good so far, seems on par or better than the .17 firmware in my case.
Hope that helps!

Clarification: I would only bother with the older firmware as an interim step to (a) getting Moonshine S-OFF before flashing a new ROM, or (b) going back to stock and eventually the later .17 version via OTA.
(If you ever go back to stock, be *very* careful to read up on proper procedure before ever allowing a carrier OTA once you've played around with your phone... There are one or two cases where a carrier OTA is an instant brick scenario if you don't take the proper precautions).
When I type on cmd command:
"fastboot getvar all"
this is what appears:
Code:
version: 0.5
version-bootloader: 2.15.0000
version-baseband: 1.13.50.05.31
version-cpld: None
version-microp: None

version-misc: PVT SHIP S-ON
serialno: HT242W420470
imei: 359902047827302
product: vle
platform: HBOOT-8960
modelid: PJ4011000
cidnum: T-MOB010
battery-status: good
battery-voltage: 3964mV
partition-layout: Generic
security: on
build-mode: SHIP
boot-mode: FASTBOOT
commitno-bootloader: dirty-64bedd38
hbootpreupdate: 11
gencheckpt: 0
Now, from here... Can someone please tell me how to find my corresponding RUU file? How can I install it? Do I need S-OFF for that? Please help... I don't really understand how can I achieve S-OFF in my HTC One S and I read a LOT of guides already.... Just don't know what can I do so I can install MaximusHD Rom and stick with it.
@rolo143: I'll pull together my exact steps for you when I'm in front of my computer again... In the meantime, to stay safe I would remove your serial number and imei from your last post.
Flashing the RUU so you can run Moonshine S-OFF
1: VERIFY ADB/FASTBOOT ENVIRONMENT & HTC DRIVERS ARE WORKING
Boot phone into fastboot mode (boot into bootloader, select "fastboot" from hboot menu).
Connect to PC (phone will now show "fastboot USB" highlighted), open command prompt and enter:
fastboot devices
It should return "[serial number] fastboot" if it's working properly.
You've already entered fastboot getvar all to get the info you need to get the correct RUU.

2: MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP
Use your custom recovery (TWRP or ClockworkMod) to make a backup of your device.
Put a copy of your nandroid onto your PC for safe keeping.

3: DOWNLOAD THE APPROPRIATE RUU
I got my RUU from this xda thread:
Since you're not S-OFF and SuperCID, you have to use an RUU that matches your carrier, hboot and baseband (radio).
Based upon your fastboot getvar all results...
Your carrier: T-MOB010 (cid) = TMUS (T-Mobile US carrier) ... I used this cid list to double-check this.
Your current hboot: 2.15, which will work with the JB 3.14.531.11 RUU you're going to flash, so you're good there.
Your current radio: 1.13.50.05.31.
I downloaded the matching RUU (you'll be using the same that I did):
RUU_Ville_U_JB_45_S_TMOUS_3.14.531.11_Radio_1.13.50.05.31_10.30.50.08L_release... (truncated rest of filename).
Happily, this RUU is one of the four firmware versions supported by Moonshine S-OFF.

4. LOCK BOOTLOADER
Put phone into bootloader mode, connect to PC, open command prompt and enter:
fastboot devices
If it shows your serial number again, then enter:
fastboot oem lock
Your bootloader will now be locked and the phone may reboot back into bootloader. Leave the phone connected to the PC.

5. RUN THE RUU
Leave phone in fastboot mode (if it rebooted to bootloader you may need to select "fastboot" again). You should see "Fastboot USB" highlighted on the phone.
On your PC, run the RUU (.exe) that you downloaded. Give it a few minutes after you run it, as it took mine a while to actually look like it was doing anything.
Once it finally loads, you'll get a window that gives you a series of instructions. Follow them and then let it do it's thing.
Do NOT unplug your phone from the PC (I wouldn't touch the thing, frankly) until it reboots the phone automatically.
Once your phone reboots to system, it'll be running 3.14.531.11 Jellybean!

5. MOONSHINE S-OFF
Revisit the Moonshine S-OFF thread and follow the instructions very deliberately. Now that you're on a supported firmware, it should work.
---- EDIT ---- After you successfully run the RUU, you'll need to unlock your bootloader again before running Moonshine. You won't be able to use your old unlock .bin file, so you'll need to request a new one via htcdev. If you want to brush up on that, follow the unlock instructions on this xda tutorial thread.
Good luck!

Good post
When I did moonshine, I eventually put mint linux on a laptop just to get it to work. Where there is a will there is a way.
Thanks... I've learned a ton over the last few months from everyone being so supportive here. Want to give back a little where I can.
I tried and tried to set up Ubuntu Linux, but I simply could not get it to play nicely with my MacBook Pro. For my new Android obsession, I'm running Windows through Parallels, and I didn't want to use that for Moonshine since they don't officially support VMs. But the Ubuntu install on my particular hardware just kept throwing up too many roadblocks. Thankfully, I was able to pretty carefully manage my HTC driver setup on the Mac and in the VM, and once I figured out the right combo, my adb/fastboot connections have been rock solid. So I took a deep breath and gave Moonshine a go through Parallels, and it took on the first try. Go figure, after all of my toying around with Linux.

Thanks for that concise summary. It helped me when I finally decided to get around to get S-OFF on my phone (flashing boot.img with every ROM switch/update/downgrade/etc. got tiresome).
Hello everybody!
I am can't get SuperCID in my HTC One S. In this time i have in phone root, unlock from htcdev and it's all. Trying with adb command receive T-MOB010 Cid, Moonshine after 3'd reboot stopping in '.........' in Fastboot. This '.......' points I am wait for 30 min and after disconnecting phone it still writing in comp screen. RUU from TMOB supported by Moonshine is installed to phone. What I wrong doing. *wall*. Help me, please!
> tried this method to get Supercid, because, as far as I know, you need to have Supercid before getting S-OFF. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)
Wait. You do not have to have SuperCID to get S-OFF.
Try moonshine. Some of us couldn't get S-OFF any other way. Also, I had to use an Ubuntu Live CD - Windows didn't work for me no matter what I tried. It kept getting stuck at "..........."
When I used the Ubuntu live CD it went right through.
