Sure.
Take the ROM you want it from and go to /system/app and extract it. Then with a root file explorer paste it in the same place (remember to mount r/w)

Thank You!
Downloaded ROM Toolbox which has a very nice root explorer.. copied and pasted mms.apk into /system/app. Now i have stock MMS App.. And the application itself works great.. no problems with sending or receiving.. thanks once again!

[I9003][MOD] SMS + No contact limit + No MMS convert + Sent time XXKB3 FW

I have ported some MOD to the default Mms.apk that allow to:
No autoconvert to MMS after 3 messages
Sending SMS to max 100 contacts
Show sent time instead of received time. If you turn off your phone, messages you will receive while it's off will have the right time!
To install simply replace the original Mms.apk in the system/app folder (you can also use Root Explorer)
IMPORTANT: Only for deodexed ROM.
P.S.: If you have a stock XXKB3 Rom and you want try this MOD, after replacing the original Mms.apk with mine, delete the Mms.odex file. If it works - like i suppose - please report it here.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15594384&postcount=43
I love it! Looks amazing..
For anyone with issues:
After downloading, rename it to vending.apk
Use root explorer to copy it to system/apps
Say yes to overwrite the old vending.apk
Change the permissions so that all boxes are checked
Reboot your phone, navigate to system/apps folder and install new market
Open it and enjoy
Is this 2.2+? Or does it work for Eclair too?

for froyo or gb (idk if it even matters)? just take the mms.apk and mmsprovisioning.apk out of /system/app in a stock rom .zip, drop in /system/app on your current rom and reboot then you're good to go... if you can't get it I can find it and dropbox it
edit: EE4 deodexed mms apks, unzip and enjoy http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34782489/EE4deodexedmms.7z
EP4D deodexed mms apks, unzip and enjoy http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34782489/EP4Ddeodexedmms.7z
let me know if there's any issues... also you may need to rename (add .bak extension) or copy/delete the old mms apks before reboot then should show up

If you unzip the rom package and go under system/apps/ there is an apk file in there called swagpapers.apk . I believe that is the wallpaper package. All you would need to do is copy that .apk file and then paste it in system/apps/ for any rom you want to use them in.

Correct me if i am wrong but also don't forget to set the permissions to - rw-r-r. Once copied under system/app

You shouldnt have to mess around with the permissions..
If placing it in the system/app folder, you will need to edit permissions...

Im assuming you mean if your transferring from SD card? I unzip the ROM, past the apk in the folder and rezip and sign the ROM... So i dont have to change any permissions.

You can't install system apps from Internal/External SD card. You would have to drag and drop it under system/apparently and set the permissions.

OK... Then im confused... Because when i drag and drop it and rezip and resign the ROM, thats all i have to do... I definitely do not change permissions and have no issues...
I believe the term for this is Beating a dead horse.

Setting permissions only applys to an installed ROM. Perhaps a person has trouble on the latest update with the browser apk of your ROM, he then would just rip out the browser apk from the previous release. And throw it in with the correct permissions (from previous), to see if it fixed any issues.

custom rom system/apps

hey guys I am creating my own custom rom . I added some 3rd party apps in system/app folder of my rom like no frills but when I flashed my rom those apps were not installed.do I need to change permission or something ? or do I need to make change in the Meta inf folder ? Other things like theming rooting worked fine
Sent from my GT-S5670 using xda premium
permission changing can be needed
may be you also need to place the lib files of those app in the /data/data/package name/lib
maybe they are not isntallable
how do we change the permission ? or else how to find libs of those apps ?
Sent from my GT-S5670 using xda premium
change permission of the app with set_perm command in the updater-script
open the apk with any archive viewer go to lib folder, place them in their respective folder and you are done
sorry for the late reply
The Permission must be rw-r-r, isn't it?
