[Q] How to s-off and root htc desire s running official ics

Hi,
Guys could you please help me out in s-off-ing and rooting my Desire S running Official ICS with sense 3.6.....i kinda hate it as it is very bulky and laggy....So could you please help me out in this....
Well to be frank I am totally a noob i.e. a very very newbie..
All I know that my Desire S runs ICS with Sense 3.6 and Its S-ON and it also shows **LOCKED** in the bootloader..
Its HBOOT version is 2.02.0002
Could anyone please please tell me step by step by step how to root it....

[Q] Upgrade Desire S from ICS to Jelly Bean

Hello, firstly I am an amateur at this and I'm asking for anyone to help me update from ICS to Jelly Bean on my HTC Desire S handset. I upgraded to ICS from the HTC Dev website. Today I was trying to root the handset in recovery mode at the top I had "Locked" below the other sub menus. Is there a way that I can upgrade to Jelly Bean from ICS. I would need a step by step as my phone is not rooted either.

take your time to read up try to root it first.

that's the problem i'm having when i go into recovery mode i get in red writing "LOCKED" ?? Not sure i can root because of this

Go to htcdev.com..Unlock your bootloader from there..it has step by step procedure to follow..after unlocking bootloader intall any recovery.img and then download your choice of rom.zip u want to install and put it in ur sd card..Wipe ur handset and install .zip from sd card in recovery mode....

So basically, I am a complete noob when it comes to rooting, modding the One S c2. I would really appreciate if you guys can post a link to a good video on how to follow to root and install a custom rom on my One S c2. It would be great !

Unlock Bootloader
Root
Then flash

Help !
If I am unhappy with the custom rom that I installed, will I be able to reinstall the manufacturer's ROM ?
If so can you give me directions please?

Given how long this device has been around, there are plenty of guides on how to achieve what you want - you just need to search and read.
As a hit though, the Stock ICS ROM was cr4p - it was only really released for developers to modify and build from. If you want ICS then use one of the many custom ROMs on here, but please don't ask which one; read the threads, decide what features you want and then try some of them.

Hi All im hopeing somebody can help me out with my SONY XPERIA L im sick of all the bugs in my stock rom its doing my head in rebooting when it wants to and doing what it likes i would like to flash a custom rom to my phone but im unsure if it can even be done as my bootloader is locked and says i can not unlock it i did read somewhere that it can be done but never said how it was done :/ it would be a big big help if somebody could tell me how to do it it

there are some roms you can install on locked bootloader. Only for jellybean. Head over to the development section and you will find some.

that depends on the rom itself.
The developers have posted all the instructions along with the requirements.
Just search for your rom and you'll find all the instructions you need to follow.

for locked bootloader
you can install 4.2.2 rom only
