Hello, firstly I am an amateur at this and I'm asking for anyone to help me update from ICS to Jelly Bean on my HTC Desire S handset. I upgraded to ICS from the HTC Dev website. Today I was trying to root the handset in recovery mode at the top I had "Locked" below the other sub menus. Is there a way that I can upgrade to Jelly Bean from ICS. I would need a step by step as my phone is not rooted either.

take your time to read up try to root it first.

that's the problem i'm having when i go into recovery mode i get in red writing "LOCKED" ?? Not sure i can root because of this

Go to htcdev.com..Unlock your bootloader from there..it has step by step procedure to follow..after unlocking bootloader intall any recovery.img and then download your choice of rom.zip u want to install and put it in ur sd card..Wipe ur handset and install .zip from sd card in recovery mode....

does this section say sensation xe? no it says "Droid DNA"
Droid DNA =/= Sensation XE
whatever you flash here will brick your phone. you better watch out
I think the htc sensation xe section would help a little more
people here are just going to make fun of you

Hi!
1) You need to look "harder" in the Development section. There are plenty of them. Read all of them and at the end pick whichever suits you.
2) I don't really get what you mean on "root from sd card", but if you take my advice you read EVERYTHING in THIS section BEFORE you do anything!
3) Once you read the thread I linked above you will understand how to install custom roms. Plus in every rom threads you can find the specific install instructions for the rom.

Hi everyone. I have my friends nexus S. he gave me for upgrading to official ICS or Jellybean.
But when I download it OTA , and install it . The unknown error comes The Green Droid having and exclamation mark.
I have then searched alot about it. now i have come to know that the bootloader is unlocked. how i come to know this..?
When i enterned in the fastboot mode
LOCK STATE: UNLOCKED
Now can anyone tell me how to install the cwm? because the stock recovery is not flashing the zips.
secondly please share the link of best working jellybeam rom line

Given how long this device has been around, there are plenty of guides on how to achieve what you want - you just need to search and read.
As a hit though, the Stock ICS ROM was cr4p - it was only really released for developers to modify and build from. If you want ICS then use one of the many custom ROMs on here, but please don't ask which one; read the threads, decide what features you want and then try some of them.

Here before i was using defy, but the process is very easy
Installing ZIP for kernal, ROM,googleapps.
But for atrix 2 its different.
I have rooted my phone.

Ok once ur fone is rooted download Boot menu Manager from Gplay.......
Next flash any of the ROM's in this thread read the Instructions in the respective threads of the ROM....

It's running badly wid regular restarting & Hanging, so I need to get back to stock version to Get OTA
Plz Help me wid every step from Locking boot- loader to selecting correct RUU and install it
