[Q] Help Me Please! - HTC Sensation

My phone(htc sensation) kept saying I'm not rooted. I didn't know what to do. Straight to the point I put the PMG58zip file on my sdcard and booted the phone in recovery mode. hboot read the file and tried to update and it went through. Now 2 things, m
1. my phone wont start up, it turns on and off all the time. It won't load bootanimation nor to the OS.
2. If I switch the sdcard to one hboot that dont have the PMG58zip file I can flash roms or flash backups from CWM.
But still my phone keep turning on and off.
What can I do?
Also hboot will always read the PMG58zip file and it tries to update but comes up as CID update failed. What does this mean?

It mwans you have not read all the instructions carefully and have attempted to use a firmware not supported by the rom
Go back to the beginning and read this thread very carefully and then follow the instructions with more care :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300

Just super cid your phone, flash the firmware and then the Rom that works with the firmware you flashed.
Don't forget to remove the firmware from your sd card after flashing it.

Thanks SuperCID actually worked!

I ROM is not installed, when you switch displays in FASTBOOT! PD58IMG.zip can not install says in red letters Fail-PU ...
in my opinion I have with HBOOT 1.20.0000 problems. because I started to install automatic ROM ICS 4.0 with the file PD58IMG.zip, there is not the end everything was installed, some written as FAIL-PU.
I've read that if you try to flash the firmware update for hboot 1.20 if you don't have supercid some files may fail to update

tell me how to update? I'm from Russia, it is very difficult to translate and communicate. I ask how you can in a simplified form.
Give us some background info. Was your phone rooted in the first place? Did you follow the path s-off then clockwokmod recovery then root then supercid? What did you do before this happened? Did you try to install the latest RUU 3.06 where hboot 1.20 comes? We are happy to help but it's not easy trying to solve something without some info

phone s-off, root, super cid, it all started after trying to flash (Sensation ICS 3.06.401.1 - Rooted PG58IMG.ZIP) all the checkboxes have been installed in the firmware partition except system and even some I do not remember. After re-flashing, all the ticks became Fail-PU.

so, first, did you check the md5 checksum to see if your download wasn't corrupted? Some times I use winmd5sum portable because I don't need to install it in my computer. http://download.cnet.com/WinMd5Sum-Portable/3000-2381_4-75099291.html
You noticed that you are flashing a rom for the sensation not the sensation xe (this one is the 401.101) some differences are discussed here but is an advanced topic.
if everything is ok this is how you install a pg58img.zip using the bootloader
place pg58img.zip in sd card
turn off phone if you are not sure the phone is really off take battery out and put it back
press and keep holding VOL DOWN
press and keep holding POWER until you enter the bootloader
pg58img is automatically detected and you are asked if you want to update
after installation of all packages is finished reboot your phone
I was checking the pg58img and seems to be the RUU: the firmware update plus the rooted stock rom and the custom recovery.
although s-off and supercid are persistent and not modified with this firmware update your hboot 1.2000 is now locked and you may not be able to use fastboot commands or install some packages like radios (maybe that's happening to you when it says fail-pu)
to regain unlocked hboot you can use the tools at htcdev to unlock hboot 1.20 or you can download the hboot 1.17 onlocked from here
before you do that don't forget to delete the pg58 img that you hace in your sd card and then place this one in its place.
cheers

it failed when trying to flash the recovery which is custom and no stock. try flashing the firmware update only without recovery or rom. you can find it here, that's what i did first flashed the firmware only and after that a rom (android revolution 5.0.2 currently)
anyway, I was talking to some other guys and if noting works you can download a shipped RUU (there's a collection here). Run the exe file and you'll finish with a stock gingerbread system. You'll have to root and install custom recovery and the usual again. If after that you still feel like trying ICS install the firmware update only, not the one you tried.
cheers
Yet another example of someone jumping blind into something they don't understand. If you don't know how to reverse the rooting process you should not even consider rooting in the first place.
There should be some sort of test before rooting information is given out - would stop n00bs getting themselves up **** creek

[Q] Boot Loop after Revolutionary - NOOB

Hello,
I am a noob here. My question is regarding rooting the Sensation. I rooted mine successfully and installed ISC.
Now on my friends device, we followed the same steps. After using Revolution, i booted to boot mode. When we tried to install pg58img if said SID Incorrect, Install Failed.
I did delete the pg58img file after from the main directory of the SD card after.
It is now caught in a boot loop. I can't seem to get out of.
Any recommendations?
Currently has HSBOOT 1.27
I did search in the forums and could not find a solution
I think that you should have flashed 1.23 first, then flash the ROM and now after a reboot you should flash hboot 1.27.
I also got stuck in a bootloop and all I could do was to run my RUU file, get back to stock and start over.
Thanks for the response. But where do I restart from? I can't boot the phone, I can't access it from the PC. It just loops.
That's where I am stuck

You haven't installed one and no you don't want h boot 1.23 because you will be stuck with s on unable to flash boot.IMG or radios. 1.27 has an exploit so you're able to get back to 1.17 h boot.
Also Revolutionary doesn't support 1.27.
You're stuck in a bootloop because you have the wrong h boot version for running GB Rom.

Hello thanks for the response. So whats my next step? Find 1.17, add it to the root directory and it should work?
Read this guide, it will explain the process and link you to the files you will need and explains how to flash boot.IMG

Attached is a photo of the boot screen. I tried looking the file with 1.17 failed to update. I tried one again with 1.27, it installed but still loops. And I cannot access recovery.
I know I may be doing the wrong thing, but I am lost at this point...
Okay do this, you need to find a recovery.IMG for the latest CWM or 4ext, I am not near my pc so I cannot upload one. Search the development forum, they do exist. You then turn off your phone and remove the battery and sd card, insert the sd into a reader on your pc. Copy the recovery.IMG to your sd card and change the name to PG58IMG.zip. Safely remove card from your pc, put it back in your phone, put battery back in. Boot into h boot and when it asks if you want to do update choose yes, it will update. Now you have custom recovery to flash custom ROM. You will still bootloop because you now have to flash an ICS ROM.
Do yourself a favor while you have the sd card in your pc and put a ICS ROM zip on it. Before you can flash your Rom you have to remove your sd card again same as before and delete the PG58IMG.zip from your sd card, safely remove it, put it back in phone boot into h boot scroll down to recovery, choose it by pushing power, now choose install zip option then choose zip from sd card, scroll down to the ROM zip you put there and install it.
You should be good now.

Your awesome!!!
YOUR AWESOME... Everything worked so far.
I was able to use CID to 11111111 and use your instructions. It did allow me to use a GB rom, but still not an ICS rom. I am assuming I will have to download another PG158IMG file ?
Atleast I am out of the loop for GB though!
If you want to run ICS you are on the right h boot 1.27. Which are you trying to flash? Check your mid. Use adb while in fastboot and type "fastboot getvar mid".
Glad to hear it's working now.

[Q] HTC sensation 4G stuck in Boot Loop

I bougth a new HTC Sensation 4G and decided to upgrade to ICS 4.0.3.
I don't know too much about how to flash, root etc. So I googled it and found a forum. I was successful with the S-OFF part so I went to step 2 root my phone.
I downloaded a file PMG58IMG and placed that on my SD and tried to update trough HBoot. It asked me if i want to update I did volume +.
After it was finished I got this:
Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail
Press <POWER> to reboot
So I turned it off and started it up, it started to boot loop every time after the HTC Logo, turn off starts up HTC Logo and it keeps doing that.
I went into Hboot and saw that my HBOOT version that was 1.18 has been changed to 1.27
I do have to mention that I did clear or wiped anything before doing this. I just opened the box and started with the process. So I think I had Android 2.3 I'm not sure about that.
I tried to do the PMG58IMG thing again several times with other PMG58IMG file but keep getting this:
Model ID incorrect!
Update Fail
Press <POWER> to reboot
Please help me solve this problem thank you...

Hey,
Check your MID and edit the android-info.txt file accordingly. or download one of these matching your phones details. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
cheers.
.
Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.
The pg58img file is a firmware update, not for gaining root (which is done by flashing a superuser binary zip in recovery).
The problem is now you have firmware incompatible with your rom, causing bootloop.
The solution, first thing to try is remove SD, delete the pg58img, reinsert and try to boot.
If it fails you need to redo the pg58img process with a firmware compatible with Android 2.3 if that's what you had. You need firmware version 3.12 or lower.
If this fails you may need to run ruu and start over.

So I downloaded this firmware T-MOBILE: DOWNLOAD 3.12

The firmware was updated successful and I now back on my home screen. It is NOT boot looping any more.
I want to wipe everything and put ICS 4.0.3 on it. I guess my phone is not fully rooted yet, right? So what do I have to do next?
I do have to mention that my Hboot version has been changed from 1.27 to 1.23.
Some details about my phone:
Android 2.3.4 Sense 3.0
Software number: 1.50.531.1
Kernel version: 2.6.35.13

You update in bootloader same as you did for firmware.
To note also, for newer ics roms you will most likely need to flash newer fw than 3.12.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
The recovery file is not a PG58IMG file or zip file it a image file.
I downloaded my PG58IMG file here:
T-MOBILE: DOWNLOAD 3.12
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
That PG58IMG file worked for me to update the firmware. My question is when I download the recovery file which is a image file what should I do with it because I put it on my SD and fastboot it and it doesn't work.
I see the problem, the links from where you are downloading have the files improperly compiled, that's the problem.
Go to page three of this thread, someone posted a properly compiled CWM Recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1277975

Thank you, I was thinking about that and I did it before you replied. I downloaded the Recovery file that is a image file and made a PMG58IMG.zip file. After that I copied the .txt file from the firmware PMG58IMG.zip file and paste that in the Recovery zip. I was a success I'm permanently rooted.
Now I have to do the next steps hope I'll do them correctly.

I started rooting my htc sensation 4g. all went well i downloaded revolutionary and succesfully S-OFFd the phone. When revolution asked me if i wanted to download clockwork recovery i said no. so then i was told to download recovery v5.0.0.8 for the Sensation but the link was bad so i had to go explore for another one. the one i found was supposed to work it was a pg.158 file or whatever. When i booted in to hboot after putting the zip on my sd card and back into the phone, it asked me if i wanted to update i clicked volume up. it did its thing then asking me to reboot and i clicked yes.
it shut off came back on to the htc start up screen went to the next one and shuts off and repeats itself. its never ending i try to click recovery and it just goes back into bootloop....i try to click factory reset it just starts then gives me a ret triangle......what did i do wrong...someone please help me get out of this mess.
my hboot says revolutionary pyramid pvt soff
hboot-1.27.1100
i have the same situation. i tried flashing a leedroid rom with the 3.32 firmware, im stuck in bootloop none of my back ups work. now

thanks in advance again

Bricked and confused

Hello,
I recently bricked my Sensation. It is an unbranded with CID 102.
After several tries to get it to ICS 4.0.3 I left my device useless, at first it boots every 15 seconds and remains stuck in cont. reboots. After fullwipe it hangs at HTC bootlogo for 15 min and more.
I´ve used revolutionary 0.4 an I managed to get full permanent root with htcsupertoolv3.
Clockwork is installed.
In recover I am unable to mount everything, it will just not mount - updates will stop after 1 sec. Log says, it can´t access certain directories.
Most of the partitions won´t mount such as cache partition sd-ext, it will always say error monuting cache, error mounting ...
I can´t flash anything at all, the PG58IMG will go allright at first sight, but afterwards it won´t boot.
Anything I can do at this point?
]
Thx in advance.
Well I can tell you it's not bricked, if you can access hboot/recovery, so good sign I hope have you tried running an RUU?

Yes, I have. It will run and finsih with no errors. Still no boot and no mounts.
Tried tis: RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.50.401.1_R_Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_228602_signed.exe
Also I have CID 1111111
Yeah it definitely isn't bricked, I'll see if I can quickly come up with a solution!
1. I need some more info first, did you flash an ICS rom before running that P58IMG.zip? or were you on gingerbread (Android 2.3 - sense 3.0)?
2. according to what you've said, you can't mount your SD card at all in the recovery?? (that sounds so weird) - So I'm assuming you can't flash roms or anything? It doesn't make sense because you can still flash the P58IMG.zip...
3. Have you tried flashing the old P58IMG? The older firmware 1.17? If worse comes to worst... This last method should fix it. An RUU Should also fix what error you have going on right now as well! Let us know how it goes!
1) I was on Gingerbread and HTC Sense 3.0 and I followed the guides step by step - first I did all OTA updates
2) I can access SD-Card it, but every firmware will fail, in hboot it will went through but in recovery it will stop at 0%
3) Yes, I tried every versions available

After checking multiple forums I did below steps, sounds unusual but worked perfectly for me, you may want to try this at your own risk:
1. Used htc dev unlock method and then using 4ext recovery formatted all partitions except sdcard
2. Installed custom rom Android Revolution HD 3.6.13, which is a 2.3.4 rom as no other 2.3.x worked, can be downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14191938&postcount=1as multiupload is not working so couldn't download any rom from there, so used above one
3. Reboot sensation, used revolutionary to get S-OFF
4. RUU was not flashing so I did this : Relocked my phone by running "Fastboot OEM lock" with phone in fastboot USB and then reboot the phone
5. From http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193033, Used METHOD 2 - ENG HBOOT [both Flash ENG HBOOT & Download an RUU and then Flash RUU (rom.zip)]
6. Once phone boots up, run the STOCK RUU.exe as normal (required else phone would not install OTA though downloads it without problem),
7. Once done and rebooted, used commands from http://theunlockr.com/2011/10/03/how-to-unroot-the-htc-sensation-4g/ to put S_ON back
8. Result , I am relocked, S-ON and on STOCK with OTA installing without problem
Thank you, that did the trick.
I am now on stock ROM. Everything ok. It took quite a while, but thx again for help.
To be sure not to mess up again, what to do next? I am confused about the size of the roms, are they really such small (14 MB)?
And what does that mean: "Best way is to place Firmware PG58IMG.zip, ROM and Superwipe script on the root of your SD Card."
Where to get the "ROM" ans "Superwipe script"
a ROM will be much bigger than 14mb so what you have its wrong. You can get super wipe from Mikes Android revolution thread. And putting it on the root of sd card means on the sd card and NOT in any folders. Can't post links for you sorry. I'm on mobile version

So this is what I try:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Step 3) The Firmware PG58IMG.zip is 14MB, so I put it on root. It also contains the wipe.zip file
But what about the "ROM"? Sorry, I´ve flashed nearly every Windows based HTC in the past years, but all Win Mobiles ROMS are only at one piece, but this I just don´t get it worked on android.
So far my unit ist rooted an has CID 11111 and 4ext installed.
Ok, I just found the links here:

Finally up und running ICS 4.03. Thank you again.

[Q] Noob Help - Wrong HBOOT

Folks, I have been through a million different forums and tried a million and a half things to get my phone to stop looping.
Here it is, (I should not have tried this due to my noob factor)
I have tried to install ICS insertcoin 5.1.7
I followed the guide to s-off - successful. Now it goes downhill and the details are foggy to say the least.
I am stuck with a bootloop and Model ID incorrect!
Here are the details:
Revolutionary
Pyramid PVS SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT 1.27.1100
RADIO-10.14.9035.01_M
eMMc-boot
Jan13 2012,17:33
So my question is, can someone please provide me with a walkthrough on how I can fix this. I know I'm not asking much can you please provide direct links for files I will need to download. I also want to try and avoid ADB as even looking at the forum about this frightens me.
Fingers crossed im not 100% bricked.
Cheers,
Andy
My Hboot is 1.27 too.
but it doesn't matter.
I suggest you try the ARHD6.5 rom ( don't try the newest two, just v6.5.3 is ok.) .
Were you on GB ROM when you tried to flash to ICS? Also, it looks like an incomplete firmware flash. Based on what it's reading in H Boot, you have a GB radio and that should not be. Did you make a backup before you started?

The backup failed... apparently.
So if it is an incomplete firmware flash, is it possible to just start the entire process again?
You can get the ice firmware from the thread linked in the first post in opensensation thread. Sorry I can't post links. Its the suggested firmware do. Flash that then wipe and install your rom. Ics will not boot on gb Firmware
You need to slowly step up to the ICS ROM, You can't flash from GB straight to ICS. Reflash firmware. Power off, remove battery put back in battery boot into fastboot, when it asks if you want to update choose yes, it will go through the update process, it wil flash off and back on, it's normal, it's still updating. When it's done it will say press power to reboot, do not reboot, scroll down to power off. Remove your battery and sd card and put your pc card in a reader on your pc. Delete PM58IMG zip from the card. Place the ICS ROM you want to flash onto sd card. Safely remove card from pc. Put sd card into phone, replace battery, boot into recovery and flash ROM.

Did you do supercid?
I forgot when I first rooted then when I flashed ics firmware I got a message like yours.
Follow the advice in my reply here ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1571301
.... to make sure you have the correct fastboot drivers installed then follow the link in my reply to the rooting thread and follow step 4 (I think) with your phone in fastboot USB mode to get supercid.
You should then be able to flash gb or ics firmware followed by a gb or ics Rom
Good luck....
Hi,
try to reinstall the firmware from here. If your phone is broken, you will obviously need to put the stuff on the mem card manually.
If your phone is compatible that should work out of the box. If your CID is not on that list, you will need to follow their workaround and add it to the list in android-info.txt.
