My rule for wifi is to turn off when screen if off. I notice that my mail is still coming thru when the screen is off.
I'm getting a lot of battery drain. Anyone know what I can do to solve this issue?

what rom/kernel are you using (you should always mention thse when asking a question like this fyi). revolver just fixed this problem yesterday, try updting your rom/kernel....

Root and flash a custom rom. Revolver 3.2.1 fixed this issue i think...

I am on stock 3.2 and no problems. Have you checked the battery info. That is the best time to check how much time the TF has been on and how much time wifi has been on.
It's true that wifi doesn't disconnect as soon as screen goes off. It maybe takes some minutes for wifi to actually go off. Also, if I am using any app that uses wifi (like radio streaming), wifi won't turn off.
Anywy, most of the time wifi will go out just a couple of minutes after screen goes off. Check settings, running apps and battery stats.

The stock rom is set to time out 10 minutes after the screen is turned off I believe. The revolver rom now has an option in revolver parts to set how long till the wifi is disabled.
There are several apps that keep wireless and/or GPS alive after screen is off. This is due to the way the OS handles apps after you stop using them. Try turning off TF then restart and without running any apps, let is sleep. Then check to see if wireless went off.

Hey, I'm having a similar issue.
I'm on a B70 running revolver 3.11 and a stock kernel and I've noticed my wifi intermittently toggles the disconnect policy to "never" instead of "when screen is turned off".
I thought it was part of the custom wifi timeout from revolver parts but according to battery usage in settings (and massive battery drain) the wifi isn't actually being switched off when the device isn't in use (tablet idle rarely shows top of the list).
I've tried flashing new roms and kernels but haven't been able to work out the specific cause of the problem or how to fix it. I would have posted in the revolver discussion to find out how the wifi timeout is managed as this might have given a clue but alas I am a noob

Well my TF wifi off with screen off work except it work too good.
It work but after it goes to deep sleep it does not want to turn back on ( would need a reboot of TF for it to work again) so I set Wifi sleep policy to never and use Auto Airplane Mode.

Downloaded this app and it works a treat. I'm a bit anal so I'll keep trying to investigate why the system isn't doing what it should but its nice to have something to save the battery in the meantime.
I recently installed miuig2x-1.8.19 on my LG 999 however after about 5 minutes airplane mode come on. The only way to fix is battery removal. But them again....it only lats about 5 minutes.s

Sounds like a way too aggressive power saving setting. Does MIUI have a power saving program built in, or did you install some kind of battery saver program?
The last few days my TF101 keeps draining over night, when I look at my battery stats it says 98% is Wifi. I'm not sure what is happening, should I think it is the Dock battery drain problem, or do you think I have a bad app that is keeping wifi going ? If so, how can I find it? I am on a custom rom Revolution 2.3.0 and was wondering if I may be better off trying to go back to the stock WW rom but with root? in preparation for ICS?
Also could this be sleep problem maybe?

Try auto airplane mode. Worked for me.
That is mostly a bad app. Try to get a task manager software to see what's on and kill it. It is most certainly a programe that connects to the Internet most of the time like torrent based software that is always uploading...
I had this problem once or twice when flashing new ROMs.
Just try to reflash the ROM of your choice and wipe cache also.

Check your apps. To test this, just before you put the TF to sleep. go into wifi settings and set wifi to go off when screen does. put it to sleep. I found this works, but something is resetting wifi off to never once you wake it up. Permissions on most apps are way more than needed.

I have a B50 dock and a B60 Transformer. My Transformer began draining no matter which options I set with wifi and screen etc., previously I had a very low battery drain. I started looking around and discovered some apps that I had installed had automatically initiated auto synch settings. I disabled all auto Synch options and now it is going into deep sleep and battery drain has stopped.
asus transformer 101g - all widgets and programm show me 8-9-7 Mv and do not show normal voltage ? WTF ?

You need to check that setting each time before you put TF to sleep as some apps will change it on you. Apps seem to demand way mote permissions than they need to do their job
change the wifi settings "disconnect policy" to " never when plugged in". I did that running prime 211 and it saved tons of battery. Its more absolute control. I check my tf all the time so i dont miss any updates n stuff. I have my phone too.

I've found the same issue, something is resetting my wifi policy - probably some app or service I've downloaded.
I'm running Revolver 3.11.1 with default rom and even after flashing and trying the old dock firmwire I'm not having any luck. I've been investigating writing a service to identify and log changes so I can track the culprit, in the meantime I'm using auto airplane off as someone else suggested, its a perfectly working alternative but I'd rather minimise the bits and pieces trying to regulate what should be normal system controls...(given thats likely what got us here in the first place )

With the sreen off and using Auto Airplane Mode by Don, my tablet is draining by 15 percent overnight (9 hrs).:crying: I'm using Battery Stats Pro. It shows that 'Cell Standby' is using >90% battery. I'm at work right now and my tablet is at home charging so am unable to post a screenshot

Where can I find this auto airplane mode app? Will it work on stock unrooted also? I have noticed "Maps" automatically gets turned on and used by WiFi after the jb update. Anyone know how to fix this? WiFi just stays on and drains the battery.

Play store: Auto Airplane Mode by Don
There's Battery Widget Reborn that will do this also. But then I'm using JuiceDefender Plus on my 3 devices. Works pretty well on my TF700, there's a "night mode"... My tab hardly loose any juice over night. Maybe try one of those...

I have Juice defender Ultimate installed. The problem is that I want the tablet to deep sleep every time I put it in standby. I am still losing 90% of battery to 'cell standby" even with juice defender.
Anyone have an idea about the maps issue?

"90%" Does not mean it drains 90% of your battery.
It means 90% of the current battery drainage belongs to that process. So 90% of the 15% battery drain comes from Cell Standby, the remaining 10% are other processes (usually Screen.). So something else is draining your processes.
Cell Standby is the same as Idle Processes on Windows: Nothing.
It should use about 1-3% per night even without 3rd party airplane mode. So, based on not using that, which of these do you have enabled:
WiFi (Especially the "Keep during sleep" setting. Even with WiFi toggled off, this keeps running undetected. Same goes for USB Ethernet.))"
GPS
Power saving, Balanced or Performance mode?
Power Saving in settings
Auto brightness
Location services (settings --> location services), any of the settings in this menu.
Ever used a USB Ethernet adapter?
Using any overlay apps? (handwriting, graphic effects, alarm etc?)
Does the tablet's location get very cold overnight? Lithium-Ion batteries hate the cold, drains them 10 times as fast.

Idle is called "Tablet idle" on my TF700. "Cell Standby" sounds like the connection to a mobile network, which should not even run on a wifi-only device.

This was my first idea as well -- your 700 doesn't even have a cell connection, so this is a strange entry. Try using BetterBatteryStats or something alike, because the standard Android report of battery consumption is notoriously vague, and most of the times downright incorrect.
This harkens back to my SGS2 tweaking days in which loads of users were clamoring for tweaks to get the Android System consumption down from 99% -- "it is killing my battery" -- even when they had less than 2% overall consumption overnight. LOLOLOL!
These are high-powered devices, people -- if you'd want two weeks of standby time, you should have hunted down an old Nokia Communicator.
I still find a 15% drop in 9h of stand by time a bit high. Mine is a lot less than that...

Hm. Regarding the USB Ethernet adapter: Did you ever set the option "Keep during sleep"?
Reason I ask is because the moment I turned this on, it started draining my tablet+dock in a day, even without the adapter. Turned keep during sleep off and it went back to 1% a day. Never showed up in any battery monitor.

I will plug the usb ethernet adapter back in when I get home and see if the option "keep during sleep" is checked.(I only used the usb adapter twice.) I have the TF700T model.
Update.... I docked the tablet and plugged in the usb ethernet adapter. "keep ethernet awake during sleep" was checked. I unchecked it. I will let it sleep overnight and check the battery usage in the morning.

Great news everyone! After following ShadowLea's advice about the unticking the USB Ethernet option for "Keep during sleep" (Which is only visible if you have the USB Ethernet adapter plugged in BTW) I am very happy to report that my tablet lost only 2-3% over a 9 hour period overnight. :victory: Thank you very much everyone, especially ShadowLea for the heads up! :highfive: :good:

Same problem here, except even more extreme. My battery dropped from ~90% Tab + ~30% Dock to 24% Tab and a dead dock overnight. The culprit for me also appears to be cell standby at 90% of usage.
I do not have the KL model and so there is no cell radio, and have never used a USB to Ethernet adapter (didn't know that I could, I might try it out now that I know).
Keep WiFi on set to never
GPS Off
Power Mode in Balanced
Power Saver enabled after 30%
Location & Google Search the only location service enabled
No overlay apps.
Kept inside at a reasonable temperature.
I'll try turning off the Location & Google Search, but anyone have other ideas?

under ASUS customized settings: check "mobile dock battery saving mode" and also check " disconnect network during sleep" , Uncheck "enable smart backlightlighter adjustment"
These settings cured my battery drain problem. Good Luck!
There is a known bug with Location Services that causes battery drain, as it keeps checking for a signal, even with WiFi and the app off. Turn it off
I found airplane mode with Wifi on consumes a lot of battery (standby with screen off).
Below is the battery drop of one night (about 7 hours), using the latest official rom [G920FXXU2COH2] for G920FD.
- Case 1
Turn the phone into airplane mode and turned on the WiFi. About 50% battery drop for one night.
- Case 2
No airplane mode. Both WiFi and mobile networks are connected. About 3% battery drop for one night..
I don't know why this happens. Can anyone confirm that and tell me the cause to the battery drop. Is this a baseband problem?
Probably there is some app connecting to internet and because of Airplane mode it causes massive wakelock.
Could you post some wakelock stats by gsam or wakelock detector?
^^^ This. You need to find out what's causing wakelocks on your phone. It's probably an installed app.
It's possible you're running too many unnecessary apps in the background. Try searching on xda for this app called Purify. It showed I was running 17 unnecessary apps that I didn't use frequently. It needs root but it works magic. Let me know what you think. Btw it's not my app. Just something I stumbled on, on my search to save my battery life. I gained about 1 to 1 1/2 hours of screen on time. I have about 300 apps on my phone and I'm a rooted power user.
Oh, my phone used to lag from time to time when trying heavy multitasking. Not anymore. To each his own.
