I found airplane mode with Wifi on consumes a lot of battery (standby with screen off).
Below is the battery drop of one night (about 7 hours), using the latest official rom [G920FXXU2COH2] for G920FD.
- Case 1
Turn the phone into airplane mode and turned on the WiFi. About 50% battery drop for one night.
- Case 2
No airplane mode. Both WiFi and mobile networks are connected. About 3% battery drop for one night..
I don't know why this happens. Can anyone confirm that and tell me the cause to the battery drop. Is this a baseband problem?
Probably there is some app connecting to internet and because of Airplane mode it causes massive wakelock.
Could you post some wakelock stats by gsam or wakelock detector?
^^^ This. You need to find out what's causing wakelocks on your phone. It's probably an installed app.
It's possible you're running too many unnecessary apps in the background. Try searching on xda for this app called Purify. It showed I was running 17 unnecessary apps that I didn't use frequently. It needs root but it works magic. Let me know what you think. Btw it's not my app. Just something I stumbled on, on my search to save my battery life. I gained about 1 to 1 1/2 hours of screen on time. I have about 300 apps on my phone and I'm a rooted power user.
Oh, my phone used to lag from time to time when trying heavy multitasking. Not anymore. To each his own.

Anyone else get stupid fast drain while its sleeping? I have wifi sleep policy set to turn off wifi when screen is off, and using the task manager nothing looks to be running that i havent launched myself. But usually i'd have the battery last DAYS and DAYS if i wasn't using it that much, but the last few charge cycles it's been nearly dead at the end of the day. Is there an app I can get to monitor stuff while its sleeping to see if something is keeping it from deep sleep? I can't remember what i've installed recently that could keep it in wake-lock or whatever. Thanks guys.
There's a build in feature in the settings menu to tell you what uses battery
Check that the wifi is actually sleeping when the screen is off. Tap the power button to wake up the tablet then look at the notification bar in the right hand corner to see if the wifi is turning on and connecting. If its not doing that then I dont think the wifi is disconnecting and turning off when the screen is turned off.
For battery issues, two "must have" tools are "better battery stats" and "cpu spy"
gary's right. download better battery stats here:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats
and since the developer of that app loves XDA, there's a free version for us!

Look into the partial wakelock and find the cuplrit!
Battery Drain
Try loading the free util Auto Airplane Mode which has helped fix the SOD issue and the related battery drain during the SOD.
Sorry to push the old post up again.
Recently im suffering from the weird battery drain, i didnt play/use my phone much on sunday , the idle battery drain is huge. like 8 hrs from 100%-40%.
I've installed both betterbatterystats and cpu spy already.
From battstats , it shows that kworker/0:1-3 and kworker/u:12-13 etc using up most of the batt , secondly is the doubletwist music player.
From cpu spy, most of the time is with 200mhz even i didnt use the phone at all, rarely goes to deep sleep mode.
for the process kworker it didnt show whats the process/app is about , anyone else know wt to do now ?
Same problem here :-(
Fully loaded at 7 o'clock and now I'm 34% - this really sucks!

All you can do is to check the apps you recently installed or updated. They might lock you from sleep. No easy way to control this
For me it was the "samsung-keyboard" - I froze it and now everything seems normal.
Hello,
I have a problem with my tablet Shiru Emperor 10 (Cube U9GTV, Cube U9GT5, Visture V97HD). In standby mode, regardless of whether it is WiFi enabled or disabled tablet has lost an incredible amount of power.. I've tried to do everything. I removed from the system all the possible applications that might force the search network (Tablet does not have 3G modem), but it does not give any effect. I tried to analyze the statistics of the program BetterBatteryStats and the program WakeLock Detector, but I'm green in this topic. It is worth noting that when using the tablet "holds" on the battery really solid, as it should be. Sometimes I get the impression that the faster the battery out when the tablet is not in use.
Today in the morning I tested tablet again by 12 hours and has lost 40% battery in standby mode with WiFi turned off! Below is the today statistics in standby with BetterBatteryStats program and I'd asked some wise person in this topic to check what is wrong.
I have a Mi2S and I'm running the latest stock ROM 4.4.23.
Ever since the 4.4.11 update I've had poor idle battery life.
Before that when I look at my battery usage, as long as I have good signal and the screen is off, the battery level graph is flat.
Now, almost always when my phone is idle, no matter what there is some heavy drain, it was approximately 25% over 12 hours.
I've tried all the MI2S updates since then and they are all having this issue. I have not installed any new apps or changed anything on my current ones.
Attached are some wakelock detector screenshots.
Sometimes 小米服務 has many wake alerts, but sometimes it does not. Weather app is disabled, and autosync is disabled too. Occasionally 小米服務 does not have many wake alerts but that doesn't seem to reduce idle power draw, and I think it had this many wakes before as well.
Also the 3h wakelock app is the music player; the idle drain happened when the music player was off.
Thanks for reading.
Bump...
So I spent a night in airplane mode, and voila! 3% drain over about 12 hours!
I'm still trying to figure out exactly what it is, but whenever I get the chance to I'm going to spend another night in airplane mode with wifi on.
Bump...
There is a nice little utility app called power tutor, which shows you exactly which app drains your device. Maybe the problem isn't rom related...
You can find it on the play store.
Hi
First of all I'm back on Android and back on the forum after four years of iOS, really enjoying Android and the forum again!
I just got my Z3 for about 2 weeks now and I'm not getting the 2days out of my single charge, when I take the charger out at about 7 in the morning, I'm left with about 30-40% at 11 a'clock at night. I'm just wonderring if these 2 days should be able to reach with heavy whatsapp usage (groups, really almost receiving a couple of messages a minute ) and moderate Facebook, Snapchat, browsing, and maybe some app downloads? Are there some settings you guys recommend to increase battery life? (already using stamina, doesn't really make a big difference).
Thanks in advance!
You can follow the battery life thread.
I have autosync, location and WiFi calling enabled and I still get 6-9 hours of screen time out of a 24 hr period with heavy usage with or without WiFi calling. At first I got no more than 5-6 Hrs screen time but as I used it and it settled/calibrated it got better.
Whats your signal strength like? It can have a big impact.
As for battery saving tips:
Try turning off or reducing the nunber of apps syncing. Facebook can also be a killer at times, I disabled, I barely use it and when I do need to I just use the mobile site.
Also turn off background WiFi scanning and set the following option -> WiFi off when screen off or on w/screen off only when connected to power.
Lastly try calibrating the battery as even Apple as you probably know reccomends for their devices:
1. Full drain
2. Full uninteruppted charge
3. Discharge with regular use to 0-1%
4. Full charge and use normally
As for stamina its not done anything for me either so I disabled it. More like placebo effect lol, I think they will fix it.

Thank you for quick response!
I've searched for a battery life thread but I couldn't find one, where can I find it?
My signal strength most of the time has all the bars, except at my house I have only one or two bars in various rooms, I didn't know about its big impact so this might indeed be a reason for my battery drain. Turned off almost all the syncing for my apps, and did the WiFi settings you mentioned, if the setting 'WiFi off when screen off" is enabled should my WiFi be of when I light up the screen without unlocking my phone or just really when the screen is off? Thanks for the tips, I hope I can get more hours out of it now!
At some time I had a short battery too and after those same steps I have 3 days battery without any problem:

The battery thread is in "General" its called "Battery Life is Insane".
I have a serious problem with stand-by time of my galaxy s7.
I have updated my device to Nougat and i am using ForceDoze to put the phone to sleep (without root, with adb command), although i am not sure if it is really working.
I lose about 3-4% battery every hour when idle.
With idle i mean always on display on, wifi or data on, gps and bluetooth off, power saving off.
When i check better battery stats and accubattery, it shows the phone in deep sleep most of the time.
I think this amount is ridiculous. It shouldn't consume more than 2% with this setup, assuming AOD consumes 1% per hour.
I don't have a problem with screen-on time. Only with stand-by time.
Do you have any suggestions for me? What could be the problem?
Find out what is running on your phone by going to running services. Disable the apps you dont need running, turn off always on display and see your battery times then. Clearly something is running in the background and this is up to you to find out what is running....
Second option root your phone, uninstall the bloat and install greenify.

Hi mate
Most of times is configuration issues or a rouge app , install a an like BBS let it run for a few hours and check the log to see who is keeping the phone awake.
review your settings wifi , location email, FB ........
I think i found what the problem is. It is always-on display. Last night, i turned it off. With only wi-fi on, i lost 1% per hour.
Apparently, AOD consumes way more juice than i thought.

I found AOD prevented Doze from working, which in turn used way more in idle, so it's not specifically AOD draining it, it's because it's not at it's lowest power state during idle
