Suddenly getting crazy battery drain - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Anyone else get stupid fast drain while its sleeping? I have wifi sleep policy set to turn off wifi when screen is off, and using the task manager nothing looks to be running that i havent launched myself. But usually i'd have the battery last DAYS and DAYS if i wasn't using it that much, but the last few charge cycles it's been nearly dead at the end of the day. Is there an app I can get to monitor stuff while its sleeping to see if something is keeping it from deep sleep? I can't remember what i've installed recently that could keep it in wake-lock or whatever. Thanks guys.

There's a build in feature in the settings menu to tell you what uses battery

Check that the wifi is actually sleeping when the screen is off. Tap the power button to wake up the tablet then look at the notification bar in the right hand corner to see if the wifi is turning on and connecting. If its not doing that then I dont think the wifi is disconnecting and turning off when the screen is turned off.

For battery issues, two "must have" tools are "better battery stats" and "cpu spy"

gary's right. download better battery stats here:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats
and since the developer of that app loves XDA, there's a free version for us!

Look into the partial wakelock and find the cuplrit!

Battery Drain
Try loading the free util Auto Airplane Mode which has helped fix the SOD issue and the related battery drain during the SOD.

Sorry to push the old post up again.
Recently im suffering from the weird battery drain, i didnt play/use my phone much on sunday , the idle battery drain is huge. like 8 hrs from 100%-40%.
I've installed both betterbatterystats and cpu spy already.
From battstats , it shows that kworker/0:1-3 and kworker/u:12-13 etc using up most of the batt , secondly is the doubletwist music player.
From cpu spy, most of the time is with 200mhz even i didnt use the phone at all, rarely goes to deep sleep mode.
for the process kworker it didnt show whats the process/app is about , anyone else know wt to do now ?

Same problem here :-(
Fully loaded at 7 o'clock and now I'm 34% - this really sucks!

All you can do is to check the apps you recently installed or updated. They might lock you from sleep. No easy way to control this

For me it was the "samsung-keyboard" - I froze it and now everything seems normal.

tiwlan_wq usage 48% and draining the battery

After getting tired of ghost call issue, I'm back on froyo but now new problem. The fkng phone dies when left untouched for few hours. I caught the problem to "tiwlan_wq" process taking 48% cpu time after being idle for few hours and then it totally drains the battery in matter of minutes. CPU usage showed tiwlan taking 48% constantly and my battery just drained out. It's got to do with wifi since at that time the wifi stopped working and the button was ghosted and i couldnt' connect or go to its setting page and only reboot was teh only option to bring it back on.
WTF LG can't have GB cuz of ghost call and now this froyo is useless as well. Seriously thinking of selling it but hv to wait for new quad core phones to come.
Do Use 360 Launcher 360 Guard or any power saver it happend to me once. The Power Saving App (360 battery guard) was unable to turn off the wifi module by trying to kill the process which made it hog the cpu. i think it happens when a process cant be killed keeps restarting.

I'm using go launcher. I had wifi protector app, wifi lock app both of which i have also uninstalled. Will charge it full overnight and then in morning see if this helped. BTW i'm using acura's v3 froyo rom. I have some batter saving stuff as well as uptime and cpu usage apps installed. Any software which can show the process down to root level since cpu usage doesn't explain what is causing tiwaln to keep at 48%.
Thanks for the reply btw

How do you guys get most out of battery?

ok, im fed up with the shocking battery its terrible i cannot last from morning to bed before charging, things ive done
running cataclys and franco kernel, downclocked to 1.2-1.5ghz, runs same to me i only do daily tasks of texting ect, 2.2 seems to only
take affect on higher needing apps
and also using smart 3g to have on 2g when screens off, what do you guys do?
first things first, make sure your phone is deep sleeping and a app isnt causing the phone not to deep sleep.
use betterbatterystats (search for it) and look under partial wakelock after using the phone for a good hour or two.
if a partial wakelock exists, then google search about that wakelock and debug your phone.
also turn off google location reporting & history.

[Q] Mi2S High Idle Drain (wakelock?)

I have a Mi2S and I'm running the latest stock ROM 4.4.23.
Ever since the 4.4.11 update I've had poor idle battery life.
Before that when I look at my battery usage, as long as I have good signal and the screen is off, the battery level graph is flat.
Now, almost always when my phone is idle, no matter what there is some heavy drain, it was approximately 25% over 12 hours.
I've tried all the MI2S updates since then and they are all having this issue. I have not installed any new apps or changed anything on my current ones.
Attached are some wakelock detector screenshots.
Sometimes 小米服務 has many wake alerts, but sometimes it does not. Weather app is disabled, and autosync is disabled too. Occasionally 小米服務 does not have many wake alerts but that doesn't seem to reduce idle power draw, and I think it had this many wakes before as well.
Also the 3h wakelock app is the music player; the idle drain happened when the music player was off.
Thanks for reading.
Bump...
So I spent a night in airplane mode, and voila! 3% drain over about 12 hours!
I'm still trying to figure out exactly what it is, but whenever I get the chance to I'm going to spend another night in airplane mode with wifi on.
Bump...
There is a nice little utility app called power tutor, which shows you exactly which app drains your device. Maybe the problem isn't rom related...
You can find it on the play store.

Terrible stand-by time

I have a serious problem with stand-by time of my galaxy s7.
I have updated my device to Nougat and i am using ForceDoze to put the phone to sleep (without root, with adb command), although i am not sure if it is really working.
I lose about 3-4% battery every hour when idle.
With idle i mean always on display on, wifi or data on, gps and bluetooth off, power saving off.
When i check better battery stats and accubattery, it shows the phone in deep sleep most of the time.
I think this amount is ridiculous. It shouldn't consume more than 2% with this setup, assuming AOD consumes 1% per hour.
I don't have a problem with screen-on time. Only with stand-by time.
Do you have any suggestions for me? What could be the problem?
Find out what is running on your phone by going to running services. Disable the apps you dont need running, turn off always on display and see your battery times then. Clearly something is running in the background and this is up to you to find out what is running....
Second option root your phone, uninstall the bloat and install greenify.

Hi mate
Most of times is configuration issues or a rouge app , install a an like BBS let it run for a few hours and check the log to see who is keeping the phone awake.
review your settings wifi , location email, FB ........
I think i found what the problem is. It is always-on display. Last night, i turned it off. With only wi-fi on, i lost 1% per hour.
Apparently, AOD consumes way more juice than i thought.

I found AOD prevented Doze from working, which in turn used way more in idle, so it's not specifically AOD draining it, it's because it's not at it's lowest power state during idle

[Fixed] Standby battery drain

Hello everyone!
So this thread is for those guys that are still having the standby drain even after trying everything and got no help.
My Device Is not RootedSince last 2 weeks my device was having super standby drain and I couldn't help that.
First I thought that it was due to the battery wearing out. But I had this phone(exynos version) for around eight months and that is not enough time for the battery to drain out fast. So I started looking for the fixes in the xda threads but none of them had a mass effect on what i was suffering from.
Then I read about that app named the "Better Battery Stats".
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats&hl=en
I used this app to monitor the usage that was being done by different apps.
Most of the battery i.e 61% was being consumed by the apps that were running in the background. And the second big consumer was the android system. So as was mentioned in most of the posts what I tried.
1) Settings> Display> Resolution> Fhd to hd
2)Settings> Device Maintenance> Battery> Save Power and All apps put into always sleeping apps.
3)Setting> Connections> Location> Google Locaation History and disabled it.
4)AOD Disabled.
5)Sync Disabled.
6)Wifi> Advenced> Keep wifi turned on while sleep and set it to never.
7) Reset> Reset network settings
8) Boot into recovery and wipe cache patition
9) Reset factory data(Wipe everything).
And after doing all these steps nothing much changed my battery life since when i after resetting my phone again updated all apps from play store and resetting battery got an SOT of around 3 hours.
Then I again started searching for the problem.
I installed the accuBattery app from play store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digibites.accubattery&hl=en
And saw that phone was not entering deep sleep for hours that was causing the standby drain!
The major reasons for the drain were.
1) TOUCHWIZ HOME!
2) Google Chrome.
3) Facebook app.
To fix that I applied Lawnchair as my default launcher.
set the theme to dark. Disabled the location permission in the facebook app. And disabled google chrome.
Other settings that also helped were
Change the resolution to hd. Disable google location history.
And boom.... It worked Like a Charm....
Now to add an extra something to the battery life i switch to MID Power Saving mode. That Also helps alot when phone is not being used as it stops background data usage by apps.
Now the average sot that i get from my phone is around 6 to 7 hours.
And the phone sleeps like a baby. 5% Drain in 10h and wifi was on for the whole night. Deep sleep for 9h 41m.
PS: I use most of the time my phone for gaming and heavy usage.
Hope this will work for you guys too.
Screenshots Are attached for the proof!!
Thanks for this man
How are your notifications? I'm having a lot of trouble with delayed notifications, emails/messenger/etc just wake up when I take the phone and I don't even have to wait more than 5-10mins for what seems to be doze to kill everything.
I get whatsapp calls that I miss because the phone never receives it.
And STILL my battery life is far from great.. borderline bad I'd say. So sad
In settings go to device maintenance and hit battery you'll see an option for "always sleeping apps" enter any apps you don't want to run in the bsckground, which will probably be most of them. Saves a lot of data and a lot of battery.
