OK, imagine i check gmail email at office (via thunderbird email client for PC), at home (via internet browser on my laptop) and once i'm away from either computer, i check mail on my Sensation, using K-9 mail app.
So once i check mail on HTC Sensation and delete it, i'm not getting it on Thunderbird and on Gmail (webmail) it is gone to deleted folder.
I just wanted to ask you a simple question: what do i set on K-9 Mail and Gmail apps so when the emails i'm getting to my Sensation are read and/or deleted, they won't be shown as read or they won't be moved to trash when I open my gmail box via internet browser on my laptop, and i can still get these emails to my Thunderbird at the office?
Never used K9
Is there an option to leave deleted mail on the server (as there is on the default HTC and Google mail progs)?

Seems kind of stupid. Even AOL has finally got around to updating their archaic AIM software for Windows Mobile.
one can use the normal outlook on windows mobile to send and recieve mails from gmails though
I do that. One thing I can't accomplish is deleting from the Gmail server by deleting off my device.
you should be able to by "moving" the email to the gmail trash. If you just hit the delete soft key, it just archives it
Are you saying in pocket outlook moving emails to the gmail deleted folder or in the java app?
Neither does server deletion for me.
It works for me.
I "Move" the email into the "Gmail" - "Trash" folder and it goes into Gmail Trash.
Just checked it. It's not in my All Mail anymore
Here's what i use
GMail IMAP connector. Not only does it synchronise deletions it synchronises read/unread as well. All you need to do is enable your GMail account for IMAP, not POP3.
Interesting idea...does that install directly on to your device or your desktop?
Bump for an old thread but I don't like the IMAP method.
Is there any word on getting the gmail app to work? JVM?
I want to be able to search 4GB of mail and find my stared messages quickly like I used to on my Samsung Blade (A900)
I don't have Exchange, I just use Outlook at home with my POP3 account, is there any software I can use to Sync my Outlook emails to my phone (Android 2.2), just through USB sync? I can't find any.
I've got my contacts & calendar sync'ing fine, through HTC sync software.
This is so frustrating not having emails on my phone, I'm almost thinking of installing hMailServer onto my WHS box..
Appreciate the feedback.
HTC Desire HD.
configure your outlook to leave copy of messages on the server and add the same account to your phone using IMAP (or if you do not have IMAP access, set it as POP3 and also leave messages on the server)
I would have replied the same as the previous poster but maybe OP doesn't have a data plan?

That won't really sync with my outlook though, it's just checking the emails remotely, which I have been doing. I file all of my emails that I want to keep from my inbox into sub-folders, so I really need to sync my phone with Outlook.
Anyone else have some options before I start looking at setting up an SMTP server? Surely there's got to be something that will sync Outlook emails?
I was very surprised that the HTC sync software didn't do it!
I'm assuming by the lack of responce my only option is to setup a SMTP server..
I did find one cleaver idea, but isn't suitable for me, posting if anyone else is searching for a solution:
- Use Gmail (or similar) to pick up your email from your pop account
- Sync Outlook & phone with Gmail
The issue I have with this one is I use multiple domain names that I need to email out from..

This is the best method. You can actually pull multiple accounts into GMail (up to 5, I believe), and then you can also set Gmail up so that you can send as one of those accounts. The latest version of Gmail for Android lets you choose which account you then want to use - right there on your phone.
Hi,
i just noticed that the default HTC Email app on the sensation, in all its awesomeness, doesn't push emails to my device. it refreshes every 5 minutes or so.
is there any way to push emails ?
Im using a gmail account.
thanks
Turn your google mail sync off then back on again, and ensure your sync is always running, that is as best push you will get.
Pushmail doesn't work on WIFi for me with the stock apps.
I use Advanced Email. Very good app and you can also access folders which i have set up on hotmail

Where can I get this? You mentioned it once in one of my threads, and I've been trying to get it, but it's not on the market and Google didn't help me either.
so there is no way to get push emails on the default HTC app?
SOLVED.
I created a microsoft Exchange account with my gmail address and now emails are pushed!
thanks
You can also get hotmail emails pushed What you do is create a new Exchange/Active sync account. put in your hotmail address and password and click manual set up. Then in the username field make sure it's your full email address. in the server field type m.hotmail.com (even if it's a @live account) and you will be able to get your hotmail pushed. My school uses live mail for it's student mail and I get push email for that as well using the same method.
for yahoo there is a yahoo mail app that pushes your yahoo mail just like the gmail app.
Sorry mate its Enhanced Email, stupid predictive text
Hi
I just got my transformer and realize that there are 2 email client in it. The Gmail and the default. I just wondering if it is possible for me to delete the Gmail client. I want to keep the system email client since it got a widget. I don't want the other Gmail Client to be working, but somehow I cant delete it and whenever I link my transformer to my gmail, that Gmail client will be linked too. Thank you all for helping.
You need to be rooted, then you can delete, or better move to another directory, the Gmail.apk that is in /system/app/.
Just turn off notifications and sync for the Gmail app. Don't have to delete it just don't use it
Why bother deleting it when you can just deselect mail and contact sync when you connect your google account?

Hi! you can deactivate the sync in the settings->accounts and sync.
the gmail client also has a widget. it also supports push email with gmail accounts. if your email is gmail, then it's definitely the better client.
if you have have other email services, i'd recommend you setup your gmail accounts to fetch them, and it would also work nicely with the gmail client.

This, if anything go the other direction and remove the other email client. Gmail is push, meaning it doesnt require a sync interval and doesnt have to constantly check. When email is ready it just shows up, far more efficient.
I'm using the stock email client for Exchange, Yahoo and Hotmail. Emails are being received just fine. But with Yahoo and Hotmail, updates (such as deleting a message or marking it as read) do not get synced back and forth. So if I want to delete a Yahoo or Hotmail message, I always have to delete it both on the phone and then separately from my PC.
There's no way they designed the email client to be that dumb. What am I doing wrong?
Also, I'm getting occasional duplicate emails (same email shows up twice) and at least a few cases where the same email shows up many times (up to 5 copies). Do I just need to go with a different email client?
Stock email client is garbage, I figured I would try it out and was setting it up (we use IMAP) for home accounts and it couldn't even connect to the servers. Just went back to K9 and will never look back, you might just want to switch to another client for sanity sake.
I had the same problems with my pop3 accounts and wound up switching to the stock ICS client.
Why don't you set up your email through Microsoft Exchange Activesync option on the phone.
If you have hotmail or live, server name is m.hotmail.com
