I dunno if this is legit. But if it is, then Good on them for finally doing the right thing.

YESSSSS!!!!!!!
Wrong board.
Ha ha. Wrong board but I was waiting to see this here anyway. For the record, I'm cloning the source to my dev server as we speak
Edit: Looks like the drop isn't completed yet as my cloning has stalled lol
Now if Google could somehow force HTC to give us source then we would-be in heaven right now

yeah, the camera is going to need source to get it fully functional. At least 4g shouldn't be a problem now since wimax is built into source.

first off this doesn't belong in the developer forum....
second, miui isnt going anywhere like others have said.
Im working on miui for the thunderbolt and am having issues gettting service to work, since slayher/toast havent posted any source of what changes they have made to get service working. I have gone through and decompiled the frameworks and am trying to piece together this mess of decompiled code to try and get this working...
so far its not going so well. would be nice to know what they changed so i could have something to work with....

Thanks for the update man, didnt mean to freakout about it but i saw the tweets and it was kinda unexpected..
I had no part in running this site or any MIUI into the ground, I am simply porting what the Evo and DHD have right now. Thought I would clear that up. Anyway I've been so busy, I can't get my new miui build to flash. I've just had a lot to so since Sunday so... If anyone wants the build to take a look, PM me.

[DEV] HeroC ICS 4.0.1 Development

Re-purposing this thread for those who are engaged in porting ICS 4.0.1 to HeroC.
Please try to keep this thread clean and restrict posts to topics relevant to getting ICS ported to the HeroC. It will make it much easier to focus on the effort at hand if we can refrain from the usual "When will it be done"; "Yay!"; "I know this isn't the right place"; "10char / +1" and "Me too!" posts.
If you have a burning need to express your joy, dismay, ambivalence or random thoughts, consider sending a PM, which I will make a best effort attempt to respond to within 180 days, time and weather permitting.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the code isn't completely on the git servers yet? I heard devs should wait for the OK that everything is ready.

Your gonna rape this I know it
Well I got the source synced and I moved some of the heroc stuff from cyanogenmod but still having some problems with lunch.
Code:
build/core/combo/TARGET_linux-arm.mk:39: *** Unknown ARM architecture version: armv6j. Stop.
Looks like it'll take a little more work before getting it to compile. I haven't had time to look at anything yet, took forever to get the source. But looks like we might have to port it to armv6 as google only worked on armv7 builds. I'll work on it more tonight, but I'm sure the real devs will have it compiling by then

Other phones rom's?

I was wondering if we could run another phones rom's if it's almost exactly the same? Like the Razor M, it is pretty much the same phone, just lacking the keyboard and a bigger battery, or it their another phone? I know we would probably encounter radio errors.
Would probably be easier to just port the ROM... especially if there's source, just build it from source for the Q. What were you looking at?

Well most provide source (I hope), and so you basically just need to make a few changes to make it build on xt897/c.
Pick one, and try to port it. Look at the changes in github. There's also some guides, but there isn't going to be ONE guide that will cover everything you need. I spose this one you can start with?
I honestly taught myself. It took a long time, and I still have a ton to learn - but I guess I prefer learning "the hard way"
Alright thanks, I'll have to look into it tomorrow. lol I don't even know what source code is, how do you find it?

Usually in the first post, they have a github link. GitHub is just one site where 'git' repositories are hosted. It's fairly popular, but there are other sites which work with git - gitorious, bitbucket, etc.
So are we supposed to put the source into the ROMs? How do you do that? What does it do? Thanks.

You build the ROM from source. It allows you to modify things and make it work differently - for your device for example. Source code just allows you to freely make modifications and tailor stuff to your liking.

PostMarket OS and the LGV20; Thoughts?

Hello everyone.
I was checking out this Linux distro. I had the curious thought of - "what would it be like running a touch optimized Linux distro on our phone?"
Although the project is underway, it's far from actually being complete. There's always the possibility of preforming a brick when installing but as the project unfolds, maybe, potentially, we as a community can bring it this way?
Anyone got thoughts on this?
You can follow their project here at these links.
https://postmarketos.org
https://www.reddit.com/r/postmarketOS/
https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Main_Page
This was featured on the front page of XDA's news feed.
Again, what are everyone's thoughts?
Very very interesting! Thanks for the links.

You are welcome. If the project takes off, I'd be willing to attempt it at some point. We shall see how things go. I'm really interested in seeing how this project unfolds.
