Google wallet NOW available in market! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I have found and installed Google wallet on my skyrocket I727. I'm on the AT&T network and had my simcard in.
The device has been rooted, and that may be the reason that it doesn't work yet, judging by the comments in the market.
Just one more nudge and we're in

we really have to wait until ATT and Samsung say go. We have NFC disabled by default.

I turned on NFC (non stock Rom), that didn't fix the issue. I hope a dev Can help coax it out of its shell.
A word of warning though, I've read that an uninitialized wallet will drain the battery.
So freeze the app if you can, cause you never know if it will be pulled from the market.

Dev already tried this and we need Secure Element that we don't have in Rocket!! Att might give us Sim card with that Secure Element!!!!!!

The Wallet app needs a certain permission that can only be obtained if both it and the Nfc app are signed with the Google key. The Nfc app is not signed by Google on our phone, so you get this error about insufficient privileges. That's why its only for Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S owners.

This too. Even if you did sign them both with the same key, which I have done, the app will never initialize. This is because there is no SecureElement in our phone. Again, only the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S have them in American phones. AT&T / Verizon / T-Mobile plan to release SIM cards with SecureElements in them once ISIS is underway.

You cant do anything with it. Currently only the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus support Google Wallet. There is no way around this.
Also, wrong section. This belongs in general.

Cool.

Why do you post an application in the android development forum? (This is a retorical question, I do not actually expect any kind of answer)
Please follow the XDA Forum Rules!!
Thread moved.

Oops
My mistake.
Back to the development in the non development topic,
Thanks for the sim card point. It turns out AT&T is all for the idea

[Q] Can't install Beautiful Widgets on Nexus S [solved]

Hi guys,
I've managed to install many applications on my Nexus S, however I just can't install Beautiful Widgets on it at all. Does anyone know if this screenshot attached can help - or can anyone point me in the right direction?

I've emailed the developers, and they say that Beautiful Widgets is indeed compatible with the Nexus S, and they develop on the Nexus S all the time.
So I don't know if it is my Google Apps account or something else that is making this difficult?!
Thanks guys
Did you try buying it from the Market app on your phone rather than the website?
As a last resort, you can download the app market enabler and spoof it as T-Mobile USA and buy Beautiful Widgets
It definitely works on the NS but I wish I hadn't bothered as it seems really pixaly.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
I've had no problems with it on mine. I use the Beautiful Home Smaller Weather widget on both my home screen and lock screen. It's pretty terrific. You might have issues with the location function, but if you do, you just have to clear the caches in any apps that use location (when I first got it, it was setting to my old apartment. I had to wipe data in BW and Maps, and it's been fine).
The OP isn't asking if the widget works on the NS or not. The problem the OP is having is buying the app from the website, unsure if he can buy it within the market app.
Thanks for the advice.
I can't actually find the Beautiful Widgets app in the Market app on my phone.
Even if I go to the developer's website and scan the QR code, the Market app tells me that there are no search results.
Perhaps then it is a location (South Africa) problem, and I will need to spoof it as T-Mobile USA and buy Beautiful Widgets.
I've just never rooted my phone, and if this is the case, I will need to do some more reading up on how to backup, root, recover, etc before I go any further!
Thanks for the help!
P.S. Going to try purchase it with AndroidPit website ... will revert!
Hi Guys,
It was definitely a location type problem between my phone and Google, or else a problem with Google Checkout and my credit card?
Perhaps I can't purchase any app through the Google Marketplace? I'll have to check that out further.
At any rate, I purchased the BW app through AndroidPIT and BW works perfectly!

Are you on 2.3.3 GRI54? Previously I flashed the Axura ROM and I can see almost all apps but not Fifa 10, when I go to market.android.com, it says the same thing, the app is not compatible with my phone. The developer fixed it by using back the signature GRI40 for the ROM.

they might be well known to you and a few others, but that fact I have not seen it in the inc forums tells me its not THAT well known, or else it would have been posted here already.
I think a greater reason you don't see more posted is because root users have wireless tether or the hacked hotspot so there is no need for PDANet (unless you need it wired).

Well, to be honest I appreciate the post.
I remember when I was waiting and waiting for root on this phone, so I had to use this app for a data connection in my apartment before I got internet access.
I had forgotten all about it until you posted this up. Though I wouldn't use the tethering feature, I have my phone plugged into my computer whenever I'm on my computer, and it would be way more convenient to just type in on the screen than moving my hand from my keyboard to pick up the phone, power button, unlock, read text message, click on text input space, and then type onscreen.
So thank you
Silly iPhones, Android has native hotspot and USB tethering...HAHA no need for extra apps....GO TAKE A LAP SIR
New at&t Inspire can not root
I have most of my new Inspire software loaded. It is running 2.2.1 and I can not root it. I have been a WM guy for years and know UNIX pretty well. I used SuperOneClick v1.9.1 several time and it does root it until I boot the device.
It loads the icon then when it asks me to reboot phone all the rooting goes away. I am hoping to not have to purchase PDA.net as by last option.
I am not even sure it will work with 2.2.1.
Please help !!!
I think you need the AT&T Inspire forum, not the Verizon Droid Incredible forum. Please post your question here for better responses: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1015

NFC apps

Anyone now some good NFC apps for the one x?
I cant seem to find the androidbeam.apk file either.
This device has NFC, but what can i do with it??
Afaik, you can't do anything with it. At least not with the AT&T version. It's not enabled yet.

not even the android beam feature enable in the settings?
on well,
someone got it working on the samsung note from ATT (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1545751&highlight=nfc), so im sure they will figure it out on this one. AT&T really knows how to make a phone better.
NFC on the phone is kinda cool. My wife and I both bought HTC One Xs, and I can send her web pages/apps/etc via NFC.
Ah, I was thinking about the wallet apps. Apparently they're waiting to develop a competing product. Beam works I think.

Right. Wallet is galaxy nexus only, for now.
I use NFC Task Manager.
I can set my phone to automatically manage Bluetooth for my trip to work:

Wow. I am about to order like 500 of these things and set what I can come up with this definitely sounds like a very fun summer project. Cannot wait to get started.
I did see that you can use the NFC with PayPal to request $$ but that's about it.
Which specific tags have you guys bought. I noticed on some of the sites that there are some tags that may not be compatible with our NFC frequencies.

[Q] New to One s And Android....pls help!

Hello I just got a One S yesterday. my old phone is a HTC HD2
I found the PDF of the users guide for this phone but as I am reading, I dont see the options they are talking about on my phone.
for example.....if you hit the apps button from the home screen you are "supposed" to be able to find something called "show Me" and "transfer" but I dont find this stuff.
my main issue right now is trying to find a way to transfer my contacts from my old phone to the new one. and no my contacts are not linked to google or anything else.
thanks for any help or comments,
Nicole
I don't undrstand why ud get such a nice phone and have to read the user guide loool u had the hd2 wats wrong with u lool anyway apps are organised alphabetically transfer will be on last page swipe right and there is also a search function u can use top right corner on all apps
I can't remember seeing show me but it must be there I've removed alot of stuff because of leedroid Rom what do you want to do ill help u out

thats the odd thing, from what I see neither of those exist on the phone. not on the app list and not when I search for them.
Should be ;/ check your boatloader are u unlocked ? Where did u get It from? When u set up phone the last step is transfer why didn't u do It?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
I got the phone from a T-Mobile store. The guy there started up the phone to make sure it was working. I think I am stuck manually entering everyone. Now I am also stuck with all my facebook people synced on here by accident. Searched the forum and all ways to fix this don't seem to work either. Darn it. Lol. Nothing seems to be going good for me
Dowload ruu and flash it will put u exactly how it should be

The How To seems to download pdf instructions (didn't try), Transfer is a phone to phone sync.
Bell (Canada) doesn't seem to **** around with phones too much, the only thing I can tell they install is the "Mobile TV" app (maybe sympatico.ca too, I don't have a sympatico e-mail with them), which is included in my monthly plan (10 hours a month, does not add to data). HBO is 5$. It has a couple dozen channels for free (could watch the stanley cup live on it).
I can't remember anything pre-installed on my Legend when I got it either.
That's odd. So those exist on some of the one.s phones but not all. I definitely don't see them on mine
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using XDA
I guess T-Mo removed those apps and didn't remove it from the user's guide.
I still have transfer on LeeDroid custom rom
Maybe someone smarter than me can get OP the app
But, there are some transfer apps in Play Store
I did see a setting somewhere when I set up accounts not to sync Facebook etc--forget where--

wallet is offered on their .ca website and if you scroll down it even has the tap and pay advertised http://www.google.ca/wallet/shop-in-stores/
but the FAQ says its only available in the states at the moment... pity http://www.google.ca/wallet/faq.html#tab=faq-general
There's nothing you can do right now. Wallet actually is installed, it's just frozen (take a look at Titanium Backup). Even if you defrost it you get the error that it doesn't work in your region. I even tried revoking location permissions for Wallet. You can apparently enter a fake US address and get further and try adding cards but your payment will always be declined when you actually go pay. Just going to have to wait for Google or someone else to step up in Canada.
