[Q] Rogers Infuse Gingerbread update to 2.3.6 - Samsung Infuse 4G

I noticed that AT&T came out with the firmware update to thier Gingerbread to 2.3.6. Does anyone know if Rogers will be doing the same, or if its out already? Plus, is there a rooted version to it yet?
Seems like Rogers doesn't even have the Infuse listed on thier mobile software page.

Currently there is nothing about any updates to 2.3.6. There's a chance they might just not bother by the way.

highly doubt it.
Its a lot of work for a little update. Kinda sucks though cause i wish they would get rid of the gradient in the notification bar, its strange how rogers gingerbread is one of the only devices to have it.

Threi are you still on stock?

No i'm on ZEUS, it was just one of my annoyances that I had when I was on stock.

Oh okay. Yeah my problem was....Actually i never had issues with stock. Maybe some lag but I dunno it served well.

performance-wise i can't say i had much of a problem with it either.
I'm just an extremely curious person. If the phone can be hacked in any way i can't help myself but hack it. Just for the hell of it.
I went Stock > ZEUS > MIUI > back to Stock > ZEUS

Im not a fan of the rogers gradient either. Guess I will stick with Zeus too.

G2x GB update...

have a look *near* the bottom of:

take the info with a grain of salt and for whatever it's worth. who really knows.
Ya there's already a thread about this

that it's 2.3.3 rather than 2.3.4?
and, that the info is coming from an lg source directly?
i've been on this forum all day and i've not seen that reported here.
sorry if i missed it.
Well you weren't to specific on what you were referencing

which thread on xda were you referring to?
I honestly don't care if it's 2.3.3 or 2.3.4, I just want them to release something with fixed drivers already so we can use them.
All the great developers here will upgrade their roms to 2.3.4 anyway, all we need are the bug fixes
useless rumors. back in april they said "coming soon", it's almost july
fyi
first it doesnt surprise me that they are releasing an outdated os again i mean they are only a million dollar company not big like cyanogen .
2nd is smartphonegeek although maybe hes trying to be helpful hasnt given us 1 bit of correct info yet. so although this is probably true im putting no faith in anything he says anymore unfortunately.
We all knew it was 2.3.3 to begin with. No surprises there.
Plus 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 aren't that different. I run CM7 which has 2.3.4 and honestly it is just a number.
I think the only phones running 2.3.4 are the Nexus Phones. The Sensation, Galaxy S2, and G2x will all be at 2.3.3
Although I did see an unofficial 2.3.4 update for the Samsung Galaxy S, it is nothing official.
Lets just hope that this LG update doesn't count GB for future upgrades, as most manufactures will provide at least a few upgrades to the OS. I'd be happy with an official 2.4 Ice Cream update though.
The sensation runs 2.3.3

A question
If I have already installed the leaked 2.3.3 when the ota rolls out will it download that for me since I"m already showing 2.3.3 on my settings or will I have to use Nandroid , reset to original and then get the update?
2.3.4 have two major changes:
1. video support on Gtalk
2. IPv6 support
As long as the changes would take care of the rebooting and battery issues. Last night I unplugged at 100%, went to sleep and this morning battery was dead
I"m just ready for the darn update to get this thing running as it should. and since I"m not a T-Mo customer I cant return it to T-Mo.

either that or keep your phone rooted and wait for someone to compile a stock/rooted version that you can install. it usually only takes one of those guys a few hours after they get the release... thats the way I did it with my N1 after I rooted it.

Because the leaked GB update is horrible. Of all the roms in this forum, THAT unofficial GB leak was the worst. Ever 4 hours the phone would be found turned off in my pocket. It would die on a charger.
If you want a working phone, get that crap off of there. Even EaglesBlood version based on the leak caused me the same issues.
Flash Eaglesblood Froyo edition or CM7.1 RC1. I'd say those are your two best options right now.

Help with Updates!

Hey guys, ive been wanting to buy a Galaxy note for a while, but I went into Best Buy and played with a dummy phone, well it was a lot bigger then I thought it would be. So I ended up getting a skyrocket. I love it, but I read that last year ATT released 2.3.6 for it. Mine is still 2.3.5 and OTA says its fully updates, and Kies says that it is the latest firmware. So whats the problem? Why can't I update to 2.3.6?
Also, when I go to the Market, I can click individual apps to update, but I can't find an 'update all' button.
Sorry, new here and coming from an iPhone, learning a lot.
Hello! Welcome to the wonderful world of Android! It's a fun ride.
For whatever reason, AT&T/Samsung pulled the update for 2.3.6 from the OTA/Kies.
I'm not sure an official reason why was given for this... but I can't help but wonder if it's something with LTE...
anyway...
The official rooted version of 2.3.6 is in the development section if you wish to use it,
but as far as I can tell, I don't see any benefits of 2.3.6 over 2.3.5 for any real practical reasons. (I.E. battery life, bugs, features go unchanged).
I have the GSII Skyrocket with 2.3.6 and my wife has her with 2.3.5. All our features of our phones work exactly the same way. The only thing I can confirm is, she can change her radio band between 850 to 1900... and my radio is locked (which is explained in the development section under the radio post).
Don't worry too much about it. Android 4.0.3 will come along soon enough and you won't even care about 2.3.6.

Who went back to GB?

I'm on AOKP ICS but I'm considering going back to a GB ROM because of the better battery, a reliable HD camera, no sleep of death, etc. Anyone else on the same boat? I can't make a decision! :\

I went back and haven't looked back! ICS was too much of a hassle with all those problems you listed. If you haven't seen it yet, LG released a GB 2.3.4 update as of a few days ago I believe. I just updated to that today and it has been nothing but fast and reliable so far (knock on wood haha).

If you do decide to upgrade as of now (from reading the dev thread about this new update) it looks like if you flash a custom rom after installing the new march baseband you won't be able to make phone calls. Only works with the stock LG 2.3.4. Just a warning if you were thinking of flashing a rom with the new baseband. I'm sure they will come up with a solution soon though, they always do!
I've upgraded once to ICS, and I went back immediately. Although there were times when I flashed different ICS roms from different devs, but they all seem to have the same issues, so I just stayed on GB, I'm happy with Hellfire Phoenix, really stable with Faux CM kernel at stock voltage.
I did as well, the UI wasn't worth all the technical difficulties. Went from HFS to HFP.

Can't the baseband be restored to an older one withe the GetRIL app on the Play Store?
Btw, does the release of 2.3.4 signify that we won't be getting ICS officially? I might as well abandon ICS now if we're never going to get updated drivers from Nvidia...
Sent from my AOKP G2x
no and no to put it simple.
The GetRIL app does just that get's RIL's no a baseband.
We never knew or will we know cause LG can't make up their mind it seems. Some forums have public LG moderators/employees that state that they haven't heard a thing about LG giving the G2X ICS love. On the other hand I have read places and posted here that LG's Facebook stated that they will update our phone and the European version to ICS sometime in the 2nd quarter. So it's pretty much don't hold your breath and be patient.
The fact that LG hasn't given up on updating the G2x means a lot...even though it's been EOLed, though. But, speculation is speculation.
i went back to GB, due to the camera issue. the ISC roms are great but unless LG\Nvidia releases their drivers these roms will never be perfect. another reason i went back to GB is because i like MIUI (the whole interface and the ability to record calls). cant wait for MIUI v4.

GB till we get drivers. I'm satisfied with it for now.

Coming off of about a month using ics roms, its nice to get back to gb because EVERYTHING WORKS! Also, pretty sure the o2x will get ics towards the middle of this year. We just have to wait for the drivers to be ported. Until then, some of us can make due without hwa, but its hard to stay away from gb for too long.
Back on MIUI for now. I themed it to look like ICS so I'm satisfied for now. Much better battery life too! But I miss the ICS multitasking still.
I really like the UI on ICS and it works well enough for me that I've just stayed on it. Went to GB for a day and decided against it. The known issues with ICS have not really been an issue for me at all.
I used and was very happy running CM7, even installed it on my girl's phone which will likely stay that way.
A few weeks ago I went to Eagleblood's most recent AOSP build and don't see myself going back to any form of GB. Yes the ICS ROMs do have their issues but so far nothing game breaking for me.
pretty new here and I never even tried an ICS ROM yet. But even as an Android semi-noob it makes sense that an ICS ROM will not be as polished as a well done GB ROM. Hoping to try one soon but the general sentiment of this thread makes me think it will be a while before I do.

They're very usable and stable enough for daily use. If the known issues don't bother you, then you'll enjoy ICS. The first ROM I flashed to my phone was an ICS ROM and I've remained on ICS since. I tried going back to GB, but ended up flashing ICS again the next day. Give it a try. If you don't like it, you can always re flash a GB ROM.

[Q] Voicemail Notification not working - Videotron - EB AOSP ICS 4.0.4 Bld 3

Hey guys,
I've been searching for almost a week and can't seem to find any info on this.
I have the latest build (3) of EaglesBlood AOSP ISC 4.0.4. Everything pretty much works now except the voicemail notifications.
I can call VM, programmed all in the settings, that's all good. But when I get messages, I don't get the notification.
My provider is Videotron (Vidéotron) and thinking could the french accent causing this? When it detects the provider, it doesn't show the 'é'...
Not sure what to do at this point. I get the missed call icon, I can check every time I get that but it's more annoying than anything.
As we are rare here prople with Videotron, it might be hard to get an answer...
Any help would be appreciated.
Any solutions?
Thanks
I dont know if there are no answers cause there are so few people with those carriers or, cause there are so few people that actually T-Mobile VM still... I use Google Voice and I know a bunch of my friends do as well.... Hopefully someone will come your guys way soon.
Well now I'm running EaglesBlood™ Gingerbread [CM 2.3.7] and everything works in that one. I'm also missing the 'é' in Videotron but that doesn't seem to matter in this ROM.
I'll wait until EB AOSP ICS 4.0.4 it's fully release (with the Tegra2 drivers and all if that ever happens) before switching back as I found that it was faster running certain apps than my GB ROM.
I have to say I did prefer ICS look and feel and how it runs and manages apps but those were the 2 biggest annoyances for me. (VM Notifications and no Vid Cam) That's why I downgraded to GB.
So there never was a solution to this? I'm with Videotron too. I just installed Hellfire Sandwich for the first time and I have a similar problem: I don't hear anything when I call my voicemail and I don't receive message notifications.
I love ICS... and everything else works on the phone. It would suck that I'd have to go back just because of this bug...
I switched to cm7 to fix it but I think it has something to do with the carrier list or something
Btw does any of you still have a stock froyo videotron back up? I kinda lost mine

It really sucks about the phone part of HFS... because the rest works so well! But yeah, I guess I'll have to go back down to Gingerbread... and wait another million years for a miracle mod that would actually work.

Well, I went with Hellfire Phoenix 2.3 and everything now works fine. There go my dreams of ICS... I wonder if I'll ever have a working version running on my 2X or if I'll buy a new phone before that. I don't think I can do more than 2 years with the same phone... and this one is already more than a year old...

Can I downgrade from 4.0.4 (Official)?

I want to know if I can go back to 2.3.6 from 4.0.4 on my Skyrocket. I did the update before reading, and definitely sooner than I should have. Normally, I wait a few weeks, but I hadn't had any issues with my Nexus S on ICS, so took the plunge when I received my notification earlier. Now that the update is done, I can say that AT&T screwed its users. Instead of having a nice, flowing OS on our phones, we have AT&T's services continually interfering (Address Book, YP, etc.).
I'd much rather have a usable phone on 2.3.6 than this bloated, nastyness that is AT&T's messed up version of 4.0.4.
Yes. You can.

why don't you just remove those services using Titanium backup?
If you tweak ICS in a proper way , it very much close to GB smoothness with the add features ...
I couldn't disagree more on ICS. I debloated, and on Apex launcher, it is a significant upgrade from Gingerbread. A lot of things are smoother, especially with flash video, and xvid decoding.
Well, I have to toss my hat in the "Why don't you Root it and Clean it up?" crowd.
I bought my phone Monday, came home, loaded ICS, rooted it the next day, froze or removed all the AT&T bloat, put Nova Launcher on there and I could not be happier with the phone.
Some will suggest that you load a custom ROM on there. If that's your thing, go for it. Myself, I depend on my phone too much to not be able to get support. I use custom rom's on my tablet and I've got several apps that don't work right. The ROM developer is of no help. And the app developers won't help because it's not a OEM rom. I can live with that on my tablet, but not my phone.

I am a big fan of reliability also. Normally I wind up stock on phones. Not so on this phone. I am really impressed with Sean's work. ATT really loads on the bloat and some of the junk (YP in the address book) is hard to get out. I have been running his port of the Roger's rom and it is solid. (on ATT) It also has some nice features like the call recording (free). I like it so much I haven't even messed with his ATT official ICS port (or the Kies OTA one).
Imho..

I am running the "stockish" version (not the speed dragon version).

UCLF6 radio
UCLF6 modded kernel
My son has a new Skyrocket as of 2 weeks ago. I just upgraded his phone to ICS using Kies. It is not anywhere in the same league as Seanzscream's "Sky ICS" from based on AT&T's official release.
I was running Seanz ICS Rom based on Rogers. It was great! But I honestly think the AT&T version runs better.
Sean provides great support (the best dev I've experienced in my 3 years of flashing Roms). You can feel confident flashing his AT&T rom for your daily driver. I NEED my phone to work. And it works better than stock.

Thanks for the link. I just looked at the thread and, honestly, I doubt I would fool with a ROM where I have to choose the radio and the email on top of the ROM build. Too many variables to screw with means too many chances to screw something up.
If it was just flashing the ROM, yeah, I'd give it a try. But, I need my phone too much to play around with different radios and such to make sure I got the right one.
On my tablet, yeah.. I treat that thing like Frankenstein's monster!

You don't have to choose those.
I flashed the "non dragon" which has all of the stock mail functionality in it, as well as the most up to date radio, and I honestly couldn't be happier. The entire process took less than ten minutes, and it's worlds apart better than stock.
Give it a shot, I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.
Surprisingly enough, I couldn't get my office 365 email account to setup correctly on the stock build from AT&T, but after flashing sean's rom, I've had absolutely 0 problems.

That's good to know, but I still won't go for it for the other reason I stated.... Support by 3rd party developers for their apps.
I have a half dozen apps that I have issues with on my Tablet that I can not get developers to support because I'm running a custom ROM. I can't risk that on my phone. Take Pandora. On my Tablet, it will play one song, then DRAG until I skip a song. They refuse to support it because I'm running a non-official ROM. It ticks me off because I like to use my tablet to listen to music in bed (On it's charging stand, plugged into a 2.1 speaker system with the sub under the bed).
And, yeah, you can SAY you are running stock because the ROM is based off stock. But, as soon as you have to send them a log, or debugging info, they will see it's not stock and your support for that app is gone.
So, I'll stick with telling the OP to try a wipe and reload from a CLEAN phone (Clean all the caches). And, then rooting and freezing the bloatware.
