Just wondering if anyone ran into this issue. I've been playing bug village for a little while now, Avoiding paying for coins, I would set a few tasks a day for the bugs and check back to make sure they are fed.
For a few days in the game, I started getting black screens but, it came back and worked. Yesterday, it just stop totaly working, it loads to a black screen then exits. I can not enter the game any more and I am afraid of losing my place at level 15.
Does anyone know a fix for this or a way I can really backup this game, so I can uninstall it and not lose my place ???
Thanks for any advice !!!
There was an update releases yesterday. Did you update?
Sent from my TITAN X310e using Board Express
Yea try updating it, either by waiting for the notification or by going to the game and hit update.

Yea, I ran the update and still the same problem
My Ants have not eaten in days, someone help !
Why did this happen ? Others have claimed this issue but, no result.
Does anyone know a fool proof way to backup/restore my save data so I can attempt to uninstall/reinstall ?
Depends on your phone model and firmware version. For Samsung or certain older HTC firmware, it's possible to back up the data.

Verizon HTC Trophy running 8107 (newest build)....Does that mean no ?
I said firmware, not OS build, but probably.
Are you able to interop-unlock your phone?

Yes, my phone is interop-unlocked. I am not fully unlocked due to having a CDMA based phone (no one really lets us play) and no one supports a full unlock on my phone
There are two apps you can try: TouchXplorer (on http://touchxperience.com) and HtcRoot Webserver (see my sig). Both can access the filesystem of HTC phones and let you move or back up files (backup is a little tricky with TouchXplorer but it can be done). You can also try using DiagProvXML if you know the path to the data you want to move/copy/whatever (it'll be under \Applications\Data\<GUID_OF_APP>\Data\IsolatedStore)
These apps use a variety of different hacks to access or modify the filesystem (provxml is currently write-only). Without knowing your firmware version, I can't tell you which ones will or will not work. Give it a shot, though...

Thanks for your help. TouchXplorer stopped working after Mango, it stopped working on Interop unlocked but, still works on Fully unlocked devices, as far as I know. I have it installed, it loads but, does not do anything beyond that, the Dev closed the discussion due to it not working any more.
I looked over your Webserver, I'm not a programmer so it's out of my skilset to make it into a installable file.
and sad to say, with 8107 firmware Connection Setup no longer works (error "Carrier not in Database"), so proXML is out too...
I am running stock Firmware, 2305.13.20110.605
Any other thoughts ?
Um, there's pre-compiled XAPs of the webserver attached to the thread...?
Mind you, if TouchXplorer isn't working for you, then HtcRoot won't either.

I wish there was a way to get TouchXplorer working, but, I didnt notice any pre-compiled ones in the thread, I'll try that.
Any other way ?
Look on the webserver thread, not the HtcRoot thread (there's a precompiled XAP on there too, but it's just a test app; doesn't *do* anything except check compatibility).
I've pretty much outlined all the viable options for you already. If none of them work, then... hope there's a fix released soon, or a better backup option? I don't know, I've never played the game, it sounds awfully Farmville-esque, so maybe waiting that long isn't an option...

I tried your webserver.... but, browsing the device just gives me a "System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007001F): A device attached to the system is not functioning. "
I saw a post by you saying it's not compatable (someone else had the same error)..
That is pretty cool tho (a web server on my phone, very cool)... I wish I could get my HTC Trophy fully unlocked so I can play with these cool tools....
The game was fun, kind of like you said, Farmville-esque, but, instead of spending real cash, you can just time go by, it was fun and I would play it one or 2 times a day to get my ants working and build up acorns (money in the game). After playing it 2 weeks, every day, 2-3 times a day, it died before I could get all the achivements. I just wanted to finsih the game..
I want to thank you for trying to help, I know there is only so much that is possable with my phone now but, thanks for trying

@DavidinCT: Off-topic, but there's a version of the WebServer (which my project was actually built on) that does not use HtcRoot or even interop-unlock. Aside from its own data folder though, the only place it can access is read-only for \Windows.

On the subject of Bug Village, I am not the only one with this issue, if you look over the reviews in the marketplace, there is ton more with the same issue. I guess I can hold tight for an update, I guess...
Yeah, if it's a common issue, there are good odds the developer will fix it. If they don't, they won't get any more money from it...

FAQ
Q: What is all this about hacking the PS3?
A: A few weeks ago, someone released a USB tool that allows you to switch any PS3 into "dev" or "debug" mode. The long and short of this means that the PS3 has finally been hacked and homebrew is a real possibility. After a lot of clever reverse engineering, the hack was documented and distributed under the name "PS3Groove". Some clever people ported that code so that other USB devices could be used for this purpose. It just so happens that your smartphone is also a USB device and this was a project to port THAT code so that your Android smartphone could be used to hack your PS3.
Q: Cool! Where do I start?
A: Slow down there, cowboy. This is pretty technical stuff, if you've come here from another forum, or are unfamilliar with terms like "recovery", "flashing", "rooting" and such, take a deep breath and look around the forums for more information, as any mistakes could brick your phone.
First, you'll need to know if your device is compatible. There is a list of android devices maintained here: http://psfreedom.com/wiki/index.php?...atibility_list
This will tell you if your device is supported, as well as point you to where to go if it is.
Q: Ok, so I have a supported device, now what?
A: Just owning the device isn't enough. You'll need to root it to enable you to install custom ROMs. Once you're confident about installing custom ROMs, you're ready to rock and roll! Now, this IS the Desire dev forum, so from here on I'll assume you have a HTC desire, rooted and ready to go. If you have a different device, refer to the link above, or look on your device's own forum.
Q: What ROMs are compatible with this?
A: If you thought that you might need a specific ROM - you'd be right! The whole hack revolves around the kernel that's loaded into the ROM. Essentially, this means that not all ROMs will be able to do this. Right now, if you're looking for an easy solution, install OpenDesire. CyanogenMOD may well work, too, as well as ROMs based off either of those, but no guarantees or promises are made.
Q: What about Sense ROMs?
A: Unfortunately, this isn't feasible. HTC Have yet to release the source code for Sense 2.2, which means we can't port this into it. So if you have a ROM that you like running sense, you'll have to make a choice - Sense, or PS3 hacking? There's no middle ground with this. Alternatively, you can just nandroid between the two ROMs, however you'll soon see how tedious this can get =P
Q: Ok I've got Open Desire installed, now what?
A: Opendesire by itself is just a damn good ROM, not a lean, mean, PS3-hacking machine, so you'll need to add something else. The details are kept here, but essentially there are two update zip files. One will "enable" the PS3 hack and one will "disable" it. You flash those files directly over the ROM itself, using your favourite recovery.
Q: BDMV or Homebrew?
A: In order to keep PSgroove away from Sony's legal team, they released it without the ability to play backup PS3 games, only PS3 homebrew (to which there is currently very little, but stay tuned!), they did this by disabling BDMV. So there are TWO "enable" files. One is "Homebrew", which is a direct port of the PSGroove code and will not play backup games and the other is "BDMV", which will play both PS3 homebrew AND backups.
Q: Did you say BACKUPS?!
A: Yer darn tootin' I did! Legal backups, of course. One of the few pieces of homebrew available is the Backup Manager. This is a simple application that will let you backup a GAME THAT YOU OWN onto an internal or external USB hard drive, then play it without the disk. You'll still need a disk in the drive, but any PS3 game will work.
Q: Where do I get Backup Manager?
A: Backup manager is built with the PS3 SDK, which means it's technically illegal software, so you wont find it on this site, but it really isn't hard to find with a bit of googling. Whatever you do, don't ask for it here!
Q: Hey guess what, I found a copy of backup manager, how do I use it?
A: Ok, so before you start, do yourself a checklist:
You'll need -
Rooted phone,
running a ROM with the PS3groove code loaded onto it (e.g. open desire with klutsh's enable zip flashed on top of it),
USB cable plugged into your PS3 going to the phone.
Phone switched on and on the home screen.
A PS3 running Firmware 3.41 (support for earlier Firmwares will come later, but don't ask when).
Make sure there's no disk in the drive.
Step 1: POWER OFF your PS3 COMPLETELY. This means flipping the switch off at the back of it (if it's a PHAT PS3) or UNPLUGGING it if it's a SLIM PS3.
Step 2: Switch it back on and IMMEDIATELY press the "disk eject button". When I say immediately, I mean it - you've got 0.2s to press it!
you'll notice your PS3 takes longer to boot, a few extra seconds. Once it has booted, you'll notice under GAME, you'll have a couple of extra options.
Step 3: Plug in your USB drive with manager.pkg on it, then select "* Install Package File". Select manager.pkg and it'll install, giving you a new Icon.
Step 4: Backup manager is now installed. Run it and put a disk in the drive. You'll see it appear in the list and it'll give you an option to back it up. It'll first ask if you want the external drive, then it'll ask if you want to install it to the Internal drive. More on that later.
Now, go make yourself a cup of tea. In fact, make several, Blu-ray disks are frickin' huge and take time to backup.
...................
Ok, so the game is backed up. Go ahead and put it back in it's box, where it'll be safe from harm. Now, get yourself ANOTHER PS3 game, any game at all and put it in the PS3. In backup manager, you'll see both your disk game and the backed up game. Select the backup game and press "X".
You'll now be kicked back to the XMB. But look at the disk icon. It should be showing you the game you backed up, NOT the game in your drive. You'll need a legit PS3 game in your drive for this to work, you'll also need to make sure you're running BDMV enable, or it wont work (it'll still show you the game in the drive).
Q: Sounds great! But what's the catch?
A: Actually, there are several. For one, the external hard drive must be FAT32, or it wont be detected by the PS3.
Because of this, any games that have files greater than 4Gb wont work (for example, God of War III), you'll need to install it onto the INTERNAL drive.
Even then, some games may not work at all. Luckily, there are a few lists showing which games work, which don't and which only work on the internal drive.
Oh and some games require you to delete all of their savegame data before they'll load. Sorry.
Furthermore, things like DLC, patches, etc. tend to not work, but this is very early days at the moment, so sit tight!
Q: What's this I hear about "stealth" backups?
A: Quite simply, everyone is expecting Sony to want to protect their precious PS3, which will likely come in the form of a banwave for anyone doing this. Make no mistake, do not assume for a second that you wont get banned for doing this. Still, some people believe that they might be safer if they use a "stealth" Backup Manager. This is simply a version of Backup Manager that tries to make it look like you're playing a different game, like MW2. So far, despite rumours to the contrary, Sony hasn't banned anyone yet, so nobody knows just how detectable it all is.
I'm hoping something comes of this, but I wouldn't get TOO excited, the developer of this is only 15 and while I'm sure he's quite talented, he's still quite young so it could take him a while, assuming it's possible at all.
Still, I like the guy, he makes no promises, doesn't pretend to be anything he isn't and makes it quite clear what he is and isn't capable of. He's essentially said "I'll give it a shot!" and that's good enough for me.
Sorry for the double post, but there's an update on this:

This guy is working on an Android port and, from what he's posted, he's not far off.
I sent the kid a donation, looks liek he already has the PSGroove part of the app working.

I'm merely trying to point out that at 15, even if he's extremely talented, he's still quite inexperienced. From reading his twitter, he doesn't pretend otherwise. I completely support the guy and wish him well and by no means want to make it sound like he's a n00b or anything, I'm simply saying that he's young is all.

It's not the android phone that's being jailbroken, it's the Playstation 3 being jailbroken through the use of an Android phone.

I believe this is actually a software clone of the PSjailbreak exploit which has been re-engineered to be run off of our Android devices. I.E., Put your Android phone in "PSjailbreak Mode" and then connect to PS3, it would then perform the same functionality that having the actual USB device/dongle would provide.
A marvell idea and one that I would love to try out once the tool reaches a stable version. I'm sure over the next week or so we'll see who can actually port it and who is just 'fronting'.
I'll be subscribing to this thread for sure!
**EDIT** Seems neo beat me to the answer!
I've uploaded the binary files used on the N900 so we can get to work on the Android port.
It comprises of a kernel module and two shell scripts.
If what the other guy who's doing the android port says is true, you don't need a special kernel or anything to do this, just root access. Who knows how true that is, though.
Would be nice to see some collaboration from some devs here who know what they're doing lol
if this happens then its gonna be awesome!!
Finally region free BR!!
Netzke is obviously a scammer looking for a quick buck... he mentions in every post that 15$ will get beta access.
Yes, it looks like scam at mee too.
Anyway, looking forward to get the N900 version ported to Android (someone on PSX Scene said we just need to compile the source for the kernel of our phone)
It does appear to be all that's needed. It's a portable kernel module according to the dev. He's releasing the source later today so we wait in earnest.
Make that source release tomorrow, depending on time zone.
Was pushed on line just before he went to bed.
As for netkaz, he's scamming, first claim was donations for a server.
I offered up a full server for free for the life of the project, no response, now he's going to start on a iPhone port after he can afford a iPhone.
eavpsp, well his own private chat room was leaked, he was getting other dev's to do all the work then planned to put his name to it.
The dev that is showing most promise at the minute is qberty1337
But as already said, once the n900 kernel module source is out it should not take too long.
The PSP porting effort is a farce to be honest. We just need that N900 source code and we can get going.

thats good to hear
I hope someone is able to create a BR region free app for PS3 now!!
Before I start, yes I did look around, and the best I found were unanswered questions, but if someone can link me to some answers I would much appreciate it.
Anyway my questions mostly deal with unlocking. Now I've heard about ChevronWP7, but, as far as I can tell, it's only for a jailbreak type of 'unlock' rather than the traditional carrier unlocking, is that correct?
If so, is there a free way to unlock phones to use on different carriers?
Also, if a phone is already carrier unlocked, will the lock return when syncing with a computer?
Finally, if I were to get a phone just for development, would I need to use it as a phone at all (meaning have a SIM card inserted), or could I just treat it like an iPhone's iPod Touch?
Thanks in advanced
ChevronWP7 unlocks a phone, so you can install applications from other sources than marketplace. For example, develop your own application, and install it on phone.
Official way: Pay 99$ for MS, to be able to do that.

Thanks, that's what I figured. But as a student, I get it free anyway. Do you know the answers to my other questions?

To develop apps you dont need the phone just the SDK and the emulator.

I know, I actually have a few apps up already. But the emulator only goes so far, you don't get to see how your apps look in the marketplace and you don't get to try out competing apps. The main reason I want a device now is because I'm working on a game and the emulator doesn't have multi-touch capabilities and in general it can be sluggish

If you're saying the game performs sluggishly in the emulator, it's much more likely that you have a memory leak or performance problem with your game, assuming your computer isn't slow.
If you want the apps on the phone you're going to either need to use ChevronWP7 (which will stop working after this next patch although apparently Microsoft will release or allow some sort of homerbrew solution after that patch) or get the dev unlock. Unfortunately, if you're in the App Hub through DreamSpark, they don't check your ID (which is required to get an unlock) until you try to submit your first app. This means you either have to upload a dummy app (which counts against your 5 free submissions) or you have to build an app entirely based on the emulator.
In terms of carrier unlock, I don't believe there is a free solution, but I'm entirely unsure about that.

It runs okay, but not as smooth as when I run it natively in Windows. This one is just a board game, I ran a more complex game I was working on in the past and it also ran fullspeed in Windows but was quite sluggish in the emulator. I know there are differences in the way the platforms handle memory, but I'm a pretty careful coder, I'm pretty sure it's more to do with the fact that the whole Windows Phone 7 dev kit is still quite new.
Anyway, I'm still thinking of going with the HD2 option. Would I be able to register that as a dev phone? If not how about ChevronWP7?
i think it was suggested earlier but you register your windows live account as a dev account (to activiate requires you to submit an app). once that's done, the phone automatically unlocks and works as a dev phone. i still don't agree on using HD2 as the basis of your dev phone, but i understand your lack of finances.

I like the idea of getting an HD2 just because of it's versatility, I could put Android on it if I wanted to try developing for that platform, the only thing stopping me is the fact that WP7 for HD2 will probably hit a snag when 7.1 comes out and I'd be stuck on the emulator again.
Actually I could get a proper Windows Phone, I just don't like paying for data. I just want to run it on WiFi and use it like an iPod touch. That's why I wanted to know if the device works fine without a SIM card or will it not let you do anything until you insert one? Surely owners of a device could answer this question.

Out of curiosity, what phones are you guys using?
Edit: Doh, just saw the Venue in your signature. Has T-Mobile ever bothered you about not having data?
Not once, they can't tell... I have an HD7, a venue pro, 2 focus' one quantum, and one surround. I'm a major fan
Ok, so I hate boring generic ringtones. And plus, I like to have a unique ringtone that no one else would ever use, so that I always know when it's my phone ringing. However, some corporate idiot at Microsoft actually decided that us having the freedom to pick our personal ringtones on our personal phones, is a bad idea. I'd like to punch that guy.
So, anyways, last week my phone told me I needed to update it, and I did hoping that maybe one of these updates would allow me to add ringtones. Nope.
So, I started searching, and found some chevron app that is supposed to add ringtones. I followed the instructions step by step, and it didn't work. These instructions didn't suggest or say there were any requirements for me to have taken action to unlock my phone, so I can only assume whoever put up the instructions are idiots that didn't put complete instructions up, or made a program that doesn't work. Either way, that's quite frustrating.
So, I search, and while I've not found anything that actually states that you definitely need to unlock your phone for the ringtone app to work (It would be nice if someone out there could actually give clear instructions, but no one seems to understand that concept), but from what I gather that's probably what I need to do.
So, I get the chevronwp7 installer, which was a ***** to find, since most links go to the website for the app, which oddly enough doesn't have the app, but does have the ringtone app that doesn't work for me. Finally I find it, and it keeps telling me it can't communicate with the phone.
Now then, a little more searching, and I find some certificates that I need to install on the phone. So I do that. The thing still can't communicate with my phone.
So I search more, and I find that microsoft decided they really don't want me to pick a ringtone, and have blocked this chevron thing from working with their updates.
Who the hell do they think they are? I buy a device, once I pay my money to buy something, don't I have the freedom to do what I want with the device that I now own? I really think these developers that try to control how I use my devices that I own really need to get out of my business! I just want microsoft to leave me and my device that I own alone. But, they didn't, and screwed me over.
So, now I need to find a way to get rid of the update. I could reset my phone, but I've not found anything that clearly tells me if that removes the updates or not, or how to remove the updates.
Also, I installed the windows phone device manager, which looks to be official software that should work, and when I try to use the set ringtones option in there to add ringtones to my device, all I get is unable to connect to work phone (work phone is the name of my phone).
Can someone here offer some clear instructions how I can just get some damn ringtones? Please?
Many thanks in advance.
some corporate idiot at Microsoft actually decided that us having the freedom to pick our personal ringtones on our personal phones said:
Microsoft has no wish to keep you from setting your own ringtones. This feature is coming in the next update and was not included with the release of the OS because Microsoft was trying to get it to market as soon as possible.
So said:
I have no idea where you get this false sense of entitlement.

I contribute where I have something to contribute. I didn't call anyone here idiots, but I did express frustration in unclear instructions that weren't complete. I have followed any instructions I have found step by step, I deal with computers and electronics all the time and know what I'm doing. So, if it isn't working, it's because no one has been clear in how to properly do this.
And I don't understand why I"m being criticized for feeling entitled to use something that I paid for. If I knew microsoft was going to lock this thing down to this point, and take away features I had taken for granted, I would have never gotten the thing.
If I have something to contribute to you, I will. I contribute to places all over the internet where I have knowledge or material to contribute. When it comes to this phone, I'm out of my element. It's not that I came here to specifically not contribute, but what do you want from me? If you can get me ringtones, I will definitely express my thankfulness. I would think asking the right questions, and getting a step by step set of instructions put up here would be a contribution to this place, since at this time there is no step by step beginning to end clear to follow instructions on how to get ringtones on a windows phone.
So, once again, please explain how I can do what I am trying to do here. I thought that's what this forum was for.
I understand that you are frustrated, and that's fine. In the future though, try not to take it out on the people that can help you
To answer your question, the tool that allows you to unlock your device, Chevron WP7, only works on OS versions 7004 (the original release version) and 7008 (the pre copy and paste version). Chevron does the same as paying Microsoft $99 to developer unlock your phone, which lets you put home-made apps (like the ones people make here, such as the custom ringtone installer) and apps not in the marketplace on your phone. Since you said you updated your phone, I'm assuming you have the NoDo update, which is OS version 7390 (the update that adds the copy and paste feature to your phone). Unfortunately, there is currently no way to unlock your phone if it is running NoDo, but Zune should have created a backup of your phone that if you restored it would put you back to version 7004 or 7008, which are unlockable.
Ok, thanks, I appreciate your help on this.
I figured out how to run a restore from the Zune, and have done so. However, I still can't get the chevronwp7.exe file to work. The phone is restored to it's previous state, zune is open, the phone is connected, and when I run the file all I get is
"Sorry, I'm having trouble communicating with the phone
- Please make sure it's connected using USB
- Please start the Zune application"
I have met both requirements, it does not work. And I have confirmed that this has OS 7008. I've run the certificate file on the phone, and have set the installer to run as administrator in XP SP3 mode, as a site online suggested. Nothing works, it doesn't work, and I'm following all instructions properly.
What do I need to do to get this to work?
Thanks.
every one just can unlock his/her phone from pre-nodo update...
Have you made sure that you have the phone's screen on and is displaying the home screen where all your tiles are and not the lockscreen?

I didn't do that, as there were no instructions to do that. But, now I have tried to do that, and that has made no difference.

somebody who will take your phone and do it for you? I am pretty sure you will get it to work if you take your time, keep reading and trying. Worked for me too.
I've read everything there is out there to do this, and followed every step. I have the phone on a version that is compatible. I have installed the certificates to the phone. I have the chevron installer. I have the phone connected with zune, not as a guest phone. I have zune open. I have the phone out of sleep mode, showing the tile screen. I run the installer. I keep getting that error message that it can't connect to the phone that tells me to connect it via usb (it is) and to run zune (it is).
I've tried everything.
There is something missing from the instructions.
I need further help, which is why I am here. Can someone please help me?
I really wish someone would post some proper instructions or actually get a working procedure posted.
Once again, I have my windows phone on a compatible version with the chevron installer. I downloaded both the certificates and chevron installer. I installed the certificates to the phone. I've synced the phone with zune, it is connected to the computer, and not as a guest. I have the phone on, and on the tile screen. I run the installer, and I still get that same error prompting me to connect the phone with usb and open zune.
I've done everything.
There is something missing.
Are you guys here to help, or just to laugh at others misfortunes? I've done all you've said, it doesn't work.
Can you guys get a working procedure and/or installers please?
what OS are you running (XP? Vista? 7?) and also what version of the os are you running (x32 or x64) on your host computer. I know that when I was trying to unlock my phone that it wouldn't work on my desktop however, it would work on my laptop (both x64 win7). I don't know why, but sometimes switching USB ports also helps with this (some usb ports are lower power than others). Also, don't get mad if you cant get it on the first try. Last resort would be to hard reset your phone.
Are you sure that zune is also running while you are trying to unlock your phone? You should try it while zune is running because that is how the phone knows that it is connected to a computer at all. Also, if your phone says Syncing then you may have better success
I hope this helps a little bit ;-)
you would think there would be 100s of people posting problems with the installation if you were correct and the instructions were clearly poor. I don't see those posts. You apparently tried the obvious. There might just be a registry entry on your machine that prevents you from doing what you want (e.g. USB related) or your Antivirus and Firewall program prevent the connection.
I suggest you try this on an entirely different computer.
edit: Just in case you have an LG phone you can actually unlock it before AND after the NoDo update using the LG registry editor. Directions are listed here.
I am using Windows 7 x64. I have tried multiple usb ports. It is a samsung phone. I have also tried disabling my antivirus, but that didn't help either. Zune is always open, and phone and zune are syncing without problems.
I will try on another computer tomorrow and see what happens.
Ok, I have tried again on a different computer and have the same problem.
Once again, I have followed all instructions as posted. I have my windows phone on a compatible version. I have zune open. I have the phone awake and on the tile screen. I installed the certificates on the phone. I run the chevron installer, and it continues to tell me I need to have zune open and the phone connected with usb, of which I have done both.
I've yet to see any evidence that this program actually works.
I've found several threads around the internet world with people reporting my same problem, with no solution ever found for them. Usually the thread ends up getting hijacked and talking about different issues that aren't mine, and no one solves the initial problem.
Please, could someone get together a set of instructions that works for this process, because this isn't working.
Thanks.
I guess u could try hard resetting your phone (in settings/about) and then trying to unlock 1 more time. Last resort, buy a wp7 dev license and then u can sideload all you want (at a 99$ price, of course). If u don't want to pay that, then try again. Also make sure that the second computer you tried detects your phone as NOT a guest when you try to unlock it. Just keep trying!
before you hard reset try this registry mod. It fixes some usb connection problems for users who are trying to use the device manager. I've had connection problems on my laptop and this fixed it.
good luck
also, please do not make statements like "it's not working". just because it's not working for you doesn't mean you can make a global statement like that. The people who put instructions up here are not trying to lead people into a dead-end like your posts suggest. They are trying to help. Put yourself in a position of somebody who posts a solution which apparently works for most people and then somebody comes back and writes "you must be an idiot". Or in other words. It's working for me and others here, so it must be working for everybody. You must be an "idiot" who cannot follow instructions and you must be doing something wrong. Wouldn't that annoy you? Note that I am using your own description of the situation. All that does is shut the door for any help you could get in the first place. Why would I help somebody who calls me an idiot?
Thanks for that suggestion, I will give that a try.
My purpose in emphasizing that I've followed the instructions step by step is to make it clear that I am doing that. I'm not suggesting that the people that write these procedures are idiots, but I know that often when someone comes along posting issues they are viewed as the idiot. So I just want to make it clear that I've read the sites, I've done the research, I've tried all the suggestions out there, and I have verified I've done everything correctly, just to make sure no one shrugs it off as a id-10-t error, or suggest I need to rtfm.
I apologize if I've come off as insulting the people that have done the work to make what I"m trying to do possible.
try turning off all data related options? enable airplane mode, turn-off wifi, blutooth etc.
Hi there, looking for some more advice here!
Just took out a contract with Orange, and I want the orange apps..specifically 'Your Orange' so I can look at my account and such on the fly.
After doing a bit of research, I've found a few different bits of 'loose' information, with nothing significant really coming of them.
XAP - I am led to believe that the reason I can't just download an XAP is because the phone's ID's will determine wether the app can or can't load. Hence why I can't find a single .XAP of it online.
ROM Flashing - If I flash the Orange UK CSC with a rom will that work? If so, my next questions is how do I flash a CSC with the new custom Rainbow rom? I thought this might work, but then when I looked at my phone the H3G app still shows under Samsung Zone even though I flashed to a non-branded ROM and am now flashed to a unreleased custom ROM at the moment, but the H3G one still shows. I have never used a 3 sim card in this phone, but it is 3 branded. I thought flashing a different rom would get rid of that/give me the one I wanted (flashing with the orange CSC for example)
Registry Editing - I'm sure most people here now know how to get different manufacturers apps on their phones.
The key that sit next to it apparently control the operator apps.
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\OemName
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOperator
Does anyone wether this works, and if so what the Orange UK code is?
-----EDIT----
After looking at the ROMs, I've determined that Orange's code is ORA-GB. After setting this in the registry and doing a reboot I still can't access the Orange apps in the marketplace, and the H3G app still shows up at the bottom of Samsung Zone. ¬¬
Please don't tell me to search. You will literally find odds and ends like this - I search loads last night and today!
Take a look at my OEM Marketplace XAPs (thread linked in my sig). People have also posted the info for ccessing carrier marketplaces using that.
Oh, and you may want to revert the DeviceTargetingInfo registry values *RIGHT NOW*. At some point - I don't know how long it takes or what the trigger is - having those registry values mis-set apparently causes your marketplace DRM to break, and all your purchased (or free or trial) apps stop working. I only *know* it happens for the OEM value, but I would expect that it happens for the Operator too. The method used by the OEM Marketplace XAPs is much safer by all reports so far.

Thanks man. So what I've gathered from that is that I need to change the XML file. I'm too nooby, any idea on how I can edit those on my Omnia 7? (now you can yell at me for not using the search!)
EDIT
Was just about to start editing me some XML's, when I realised I needed Adobe Reader. (Bare in mind I had already set my DeviceTargetingInfo back to 000-GB) loaded up WP7 marketplace, and at the top of the list, staring me in the face is Orange Selects. I don't know if its because I changed the DeviceTargetingInfo (but I changed it back and rebooted so how in good god...?) or if my Orange sim just kicked it into working after being in the phone for a while (only put the sim in 3 and a half hours ago) but yeah. It's working. So..thanks? lmao
It's the 3.5 hours one, almost certainly. The phone updates those XML files (the one my XAPs modify) automatically. In my case (in the US) I believe it happens around sometime in the night or early morning. That sounds just about right for the UK.

That's pretty cool, and interesting knowledge! I wasn't desperate for the apps so if I would have known prehand I would have just waited - I thought that I was never going to be able to get them! Thanks for all your help man, and seriously thanks again for those XAP's (used them quite a while back now) but they are really awesome.

Sorry to resurrect the post, but I was wondering if you could tell me the contents of the mobile operator XML?
Hello,
In all my excitement over Tango, I neglected to read any of the warnings posted around the forums/web. I installed Tango via the cab sender method (neglected to make a backup) and everything still worked, or at least the homebrew apps I launched still did. Searching the forums, I found the Samsung firmware somewhere in the replies to the cab thread, and pushed it also. This was late at night and it wasn't until the next day I noticed I can't launch almost half of my homebrew apps. It's said restoring from a backup (don't have one) or flashing back to Mango is the only way to fix this. Is that true? Well ****. Because there is no ROMs (stock nor custom) for the Focus S..
What should I do?
Thanks in advance,
6-4.

Yeah... I want to say you're unfortunately screwed :-\.
To make matters worse, the Wireless manager no longer appears to work for configuring MMS when carrier unlocked. I guess I'll just go back my Quantum's for hacking and hard reset this device ..ill wait a while though.

Do you have *any* homebrew apps that
A) you can still run
B) you marked as Trusted in WP7 Root Tools?
It sounds like what happened is that your phone reverted from interop-unlock to simple dev-unlock (you presumably have an AppHub account?). However, this does *not* revert root-unlock as applied by WP7 Root Tools. Root Tools itself requires ID_CAP_INTEROPSERIVCES, and as such can't be run without interop-unlock. However, the apps that it has marked as Trusted will continue to run with full permissions (root unlock).
So, here's what you do.
First, identify an app that you can run (i.e. that isn't interop) and that is marked as Trusted.
Second, take the GUID of that app, and use that GUID to replace the ProductId of the Tango-update-workaround app (which essentially just restores interop-unlock).
Third, remove homebrew apps from your phone (but not the target app, the trusted one you can still run) until you are able to deploy an app (usually, this means reduce to 9 homebrew apps).
Fourth, use a XAP deployer that supports updating, and do an update-install of the workaround app (upgrade, because it's using the GUID of the already-installed target).
Fifth, run the workaround app, and then re-install your normal apps.
I did as you instructed, however I still have the 10 sideload limit and am unable to deploy any interop services.By tango workaround app, you meant relockprevent, correct?
Is there something I may have missed?
Like I said, I installed the Samsung LE2 update for the Focus S which is basically the KK2 equivalent, so provxml will no longer work.
Also, I do not have an apphub account.
Bump. Anyone have any ideas? A friend put a support ticket in with Samsung internal support to see if they can get the ROM.

Oh so it was that firmware update that just broke interop. Yeah I want to say at this point you are stuck. I doubt that Samsung will give the ROM since it isn't an issue that is preventing you from doing out of the box functionality.

isnt the provxml method using diagnostic tools the reason for this no longer working, what i mean by that is if you were to install the older version of the diag tool would that not restore functionality, or has the lock down of that gone much deeper? if you are able to install XAPs then find an older OEM update version pre KK2/LE2, open it up and rip out the diagnostic tool XAP, remove any previous installed version then send over the XAP....
just a thought, it might not work, but essentially i think thats what happens unless of course there are other dlls or drivers that the tool needs that have also been updated....
course it would be great to find someone willing and able to help crack the bootloader

Yeah I gave the suggestion to him in the Cab Sender thread to try and look on here for the Diag v 0109 or even 0210. That's the version that I have. Actually in the Cab Sender thread, I posted the cab file to the samsung firmware for Mango that should have that diagnostics version in the cab. You may be able to push that to your device
The old version was still installed after updating, it didn't work.

Ok, that means that the firmware also pushed out new Dlls to prevent proxvml. You are stuck unfortunately :-\
Ive been asking around and doing some research and as of today your stuck, sorry!
I did some poking around on DFTs website as well and there is absolutely ZERO work being done on it, mostly because it seems like the focus S is an AT&T only phone, there just isnt a pressing needed to do anything, plus most folk dont have a focus S to work with.
i dont know what it would take to get some help or even guidance on getting the bootloader replaced but at the moment, until another method is found, thats all there is.
Tho This might be interesting to look in to but DONT DO IT!
did i read somewhere else you dont have a preupdated backup or was it that the backup didnt work?

There is a lot of changes in those updates, if we could insert our own certificate to allow us to build our own signed cabs we could probably work it out, but alas we can only add a cert in to a custom ROM then flash it...
Yes, unfortunately I bought the phone from a guy here on XDA in May, never had to update it (had been cab updated to 8107 before I got it), never made a backup before installing tango (it's a small update, what could it possibly **** up, right?) Anyway the Focus S was announced yesterday as being available online at some Australian website so maybe there will be ROMs available in the future. I still haven't heard back from internal Samsung support, but have also asked the user I purchased the phone from if he has any backups, which I would restore from and immediately reset again to ensure his privacy.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind losing interop-unlock until 7.8 comes around, or WP8 (whichever I can afford first), but MMS also can't be configured using the Wireless Manager anymore, and that's an absolutely vital feature for me. Although, the WM has been known to not work for a lot of people, even pre-tango, but it worked flawlessly OOB for me prior to updating.

so you updated to the LE2 samsung update, was that via zune? (the last update it does in a row 3rd or 4th perhaps!) or did you cab send that as well?
if you went via zune then it does a backup as well, settings>update>restore
It was all done through the cab sender. There is no backup.
Just wanted to mention here... you know that CAB Sender is perfectly capable of making backups, right? It's one of the core operations the tool is capable of. Don't blame CAB Sender for you pressing S instead of B.
I just don't want people getting the impression that "through the cab sender" implies "there is no backup."
Fully aware, thank you.
?
Hello guys!
Got my device on the 8773 and did the samsung update...
Is there anyway to get my interop back ?
I have my backups (one the last 8773 without samsung update and the other is 7740 without anything =] )
Thanks a lot.
Restore your backup, do a little bit more reading on the subject of Tango with Interop Unlock, install the prevention app and mark it as trusted, and have at it. (Specifically, Tango will reset the "prevent relock" registry values, so you have to avoid the phone connecting to Microsoft until you have cleared them again).
