[Q] ICS Audio Problems - HTC Inspire 4G

Hello I am trying to get ICS working on my Inspire. I know there are camera problems and a tiny audio fix. But I don't believe I am having the tiny audio problem from what it sounds. My audio when making a phone call sounds like it is like 8bit. When people talk it sounds like they are robots or something. The volume is fine they just sound weird. I know this sounds funny but I can record some audio if anyone would like to help. I have tried all different ICS roms and they all do the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas? I would post this on a development forum but I can't.
Thanks for any help.

You're new. I'll take it easy. A couple things though..
First..Search is your friend. Use it. This topic has been discussed all over the Inspire forum, and is also all through the ICS threads. You need to flash Inspiremod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131256) or one of the many tinny audio fixes that are around.
Next - The development threads are for development only. ROMs/Kernels/etc. Don't post questions there, ever. If the ROM you have a question about has a Q and A thread, use it. Otherwise post in the ROM's thread. But SEARCH first. 90-95% of the questions asked have been answered on XDA somewhere..

Assuming you mean the htc inspire 4g correct. And the other guy is right. I'm learning that too. Lol. Search is your friend.

Hmmm well thanks for taking it easy on me. But I have tried the insipre patch and it didn't help. The tiny audio fix doesn't seem like the same problem as I am having. But I will try it. I did search but maybe I didn't for it right. Yes I was going to post it on the thread that was already started for the ROM but I don't have 10 posts yet.
I thought posting on the Inspire4G board and saying it was an inspire. People would assume Inspire 4G. But I will make sure to be more clear thanks for your input.
I will try both of those and let you guys know if it works. Thanks again.

Why don't you tell us exactly which ROM you installed? All ICS ROMs are not the same. Was it from the Inspire forum or the Desire HD forum?
And the problem you are describing sounds exactly like wht the Inspire tinny audio fix is for. Audi sounds like you are talking through a tin can or a transistor radio.
Did you install the Inspiremod-v0.5.zip?

Thanks!
Ok the inspire mod worked. I had never read the transistor radio part I just read about the tin can and sounding far away. So thank you to everyone. I will try searching better (sorry about that). I had tried all the different ICS Roms the one I am using now is Black Hole Slushy. I found them all on the inspire forum. I tried Black Hole Slushy, IML74K, the other ones I don't see right now.

A transistor radio to me sounds like talking in a tin can far away. Happy you got it working.

[Q] Are there not many ROMS being posted due to the other Forums for the DHD?

I asked a question leading to this same question myself earlier, and mine got moved to "general" by the mod.
The stock Inspire ROM and the stock DHD ROM are similar, but not the same. I've noticed substantial discoloration going from an Inspire based rom to a Desire HD based rom. If at all possible, it is my mission to get some real chefs over here to make some REAL Inspire based roms.
The issues that exist are minimal, but just enough that someone like me will notice lol.

I agree with you. There are differences in the roms. We've got real devs over here too. I am grateful what we have though. More is coming soon enough.

I don't disagree with asking the question, but this forum is definitely crowded with a lot of non-development related questions. All of this stuff should be moved to General. Your questions will be answered there too.

Absolutely I just want Inspire-based roms, since we have the rom.zip and the ability to make them. It just makes me sad that all of our roms are for the desire HD and they aren't the same...

[Q] What ROM is best for ME right now?

So when the Inspire 4G first came out, I joined from the dark side (iPhone)... and rooted for the first time. I tried InspiredHD and Android Revolution, but this was back when they both had the tinny audio, so I ended up going back to the ATT Stock Rooted ROM because I wanted my audio back.
Now several weeks later I see a bunch of ROMs available, several of which are Android Gingerbread ROMs. Which are the best? Is there a guide that compares their features that are updates on the daily basis that seems to be how often they're updated?
What do you recommend? I'd like one which is Gingerbread and still keeps the HTC sense, I do like my sense. I'd also like one that had the original audio quality, not the tinny audio that came with the preliminary ROMs.
Any advice\opinions would be appreciated.
For future reference please post questions like this in the general disscussion thread.
As far as what Rom is best. That is a hard question what's best for one person might not be for the next. My advice would be just to give them all a shot, and see which one is best for you or which one suits you best.
Edit: you can see what has been changed or the differences from the change log. Currently all the roms are being updated frequently as well as one on one support with the beta team and/or developers.
Hope this helps.

4g pre alpha cm7 thunderbolt

Hey I have been having problems with 4g well running cm7 haven't seen it since I flashed test 2 and just flashed test 3 and still nothing do I need to flash the stock radio again with hboot or will that unroot me or is this a known problem, thanks guys!
It might be a good idea to go and ask this in the official CM7 thread. That's what it's there for.
Irk if I have enough posts yet lol ill try haha!
audio rec
Am I the only person who can't get audio recorded when trying to record a video? I honestly don't like the cm 7 camera and camcorder I like sense's.
This is a WELL known issue if you would read or even search the forum. Don't use the cm7 pre alpha if you want 4g. The dev has stated he has plenty of other things he wants to work on before 4g.

The best GB out there?

I've tried about 3 diff. versions of GB on my SGS4G and have noticed the same problems from one to the next. The first problem is the low volume on the 1st ring. Another problem is the calls going straight to VM or at least after the first ring. The last is the call log and notification bar not showing missed calls. Are these normal issues with GB or am I special? I've read other posts in diff. phone forums via searching and people have mentioned it, but nothing in this forum. If there are not any fixes I'll probably return to FROYO. Its always boggled my mind reading these forums and trying out diff. roms on my phone. I usually end up with more problems than I had to start with after flashing diff. roms. Much respect to all of the devs for the time they spend on making new roms but, if the roms are going to be spotty, why bother releasing them? I don't know, maybe its just me. In short I would love to have that BULLET PROOF rom someday. Well, time to stop babbling. Thanks for looking.
I think you're posting in the wrong forum. This is the development forum. You're problems are not ones i have personally experienced with sgs4 GB leak roms. Please read the stickied sgs4g Bible and ten commandments.

This should probably be in Q&A. Regardless, I don't think the problems you're having are normal. I can say I've tried many different ROMs from here and haven't experienced those problems. It may be you need to do a factory data reset or something to try and get it back to normal.
As for GB ROMs, though, they're not official yet so it's difficult to have the expectation of bullet proof. All of the GB ROMs on here are created from leaked versions of the GB ROM from Samsung.
Once they release something official you'll have a more bullet-proof ROM (though not totally...nothing ever is) and the Dev ROMs will be even sweeter.
Best of luck to you, hope you get it figured it.
First off... thanks for taking the time to read the rules, Secondly, I'm surprised he didn't get roasted, and why give him the answers, just point him to the correct link which would be here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122508
Read Read Read.... and before you ask a question unrelated to chit... read some more..... Ohooo and here's an idea pal.... try doing a search for your question.... as far as opinions on what GB is the best, like the old saying goes... opinions are like assholes - everybody's got one
Consider this reply as a flame or troll attempt. Just effin read! Thats the best GB rom. Read!

The kind that has source code to it
The low volume is normal for the first ring.I'm surprised no one didn't mention that. You must be new to Samsung. Like previous posters said, read.

Is it normal for GB and not Froyo? Because on Froyo the first ring on my phone is loud. If it is a normal thing, it SUCKS.
The last time I remembered froyo had the low first ring too unless you installed a custom froyo ROM with it eliminated

So what ur saying is that its normal for samsung and not any other manufacturer? Because I'm sitting next to somebody right now that has a evo with GB 2.3.3 and their phone has a loud first ring. Hmmmmmmm

My phone came right from T-mobile with a loud first ring. And the custom Froyo that I have in it right now does have a loud first ring, but I'm not sure if the rom was altered to make it that way. If the custom rom can be altered to make the first ring loud on froyo, why can't it be done on GB? Just a question.

Probably because we don't have source for gingerbread. I believe the low first ring its a Samsung only feature. I like the feature because I have time to react before it rings loud especially in a silent environment.

The low first ring may be a sign of a worn out wringer inside the phone.

I have noticed the low first ring only with a GB rom... but the other thing I have noticed that with each rom I try - some apps in the market don't show... Example... I am Running GB Audiophile's Beautiful Sgs4g #2 KI3 - And I can't find CBS Sports Football in the market - If I load ICBINB GB, I can find CBS Sports Football in the market... anyone else heard or run into something like this ??

[Q] risks of flashing radio?, how to know if somethings wrong?

hi and welcome to another round of neebish questions of the day...
i flashed new radio from stock to version 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M and started reading a bit after, after a while i became aware that changing the radio could affect battery life and also it could be wrong in terms of where i live in the world, ive had it on my phone for several hours, and it seems to be working well, but im just a noob..... how can i know
i was basicly wondering if anyone of u who actually know this stuff could confirm that i didnt do anything stupid ? im putting in the link to where i found the radio files (its posted in the comments on the page by rataplan626, its not the same radio as the one that originally was posted in the thread)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312144&page=5
thank you for great answers and for being patient with those of us that are new to all of the difficult terms and choices connected to rooting and stuff i hope someday i will be just as big of an resource as you guys
if the radio flashed then everything should be fine. The best way to test is to just use the phone. You won't notice much of a difference though but if you do then something may have gone wrong. But provided it was all done right, that radio should be fine. However, i should advise you flashing radios are not the safest thing for your phone. Also I don't think it makes much of a difference where you are. I flashed that same radio and it's all good for me.
I would advise searching around a bit more though. These questions have been answered many times before.
thnx then it should all be fine
Cheers ^^
