Hi, everybody!

Please, HELP!
Couple minutes ago, my phone was laying on the table, asleep, I wanted to wake it with Power button - it didn't answer at all.
I pulled the battery out of it an tried to reboot.
After white HTC splash screen appeared nothing more - just black screen, nothing happened. Tired to reflash the newer build - the same boot stop.
What can it be?

Did you make a full wipe before you flashed the new build?
Do you have a backup of your previous version?
If yes restore it and check if it works, otherwise download a previous version, wipe all partitions and flash it. Report back what happens.
As a sidenote, it's an unwritten law (to be honest it is written hunders of times inside the general section) to never pull the battery, before try press and hold vol+ and vol- and push the powerbutton till it reboots, just as a hint for next time.

Ans : You pulled the battery.
Can you connect to adb? If you can, read the following guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284196
Post the result of the output after you enter while booted into recovery
Code:
adb shell
dmesg | grep mmc0
Paste a screenshot of the result. We'll know then, whether your eMMC survived the battery pull, or succumbed to it.
Fingers crossed!!

Yes try an earlier build, unfortunately it looks like the last one isn't as stable as the previous builds, sry.
- and Power is, if your device is shutdown, to access the bootloader, but won't work at a running device.
Did I understand it right that you can't access bootloader or recovery?
Did you try a normal boot (or better said the stuck boot) and rebooting to recovery with adb?
EDIT: If it doesn't work try what enigmaamit wrote

Thanks a lot to Tectas and enigmaamit for the supporting!

Did you follow amidabuddha's guide?
What information have you gathered so far?
Are you able to do a factory reset ?
Can you access recovery? What does the partition info say?
Did steps 1, 2, or 3 in the guide work for you?

Well, I've read it of course and followed.
amidabuddha says in this guide, that only one of the methods should be applied.
So, firstly I managed to restore from backup.
wipe cache is working as well...
"If the size of the partition says <null>..." Mine isn't - shall I do this anyway?
4EXT recovery says: cache fs:ext3 size:300MiB free:232.1MB
And - shall I try the method 3 with Factory Reset - will it give some more advantages?
_______
Done the factrory reset, after that cache is free: 265.4MB

So can you enter recovery and flash a new ROM now?
If you can enter recovery, do a full factory reset, cache and dalvik wipe, and try flashing a new ROM. Try Reaper or Endymion. See if that helps you boot up.
P.S : Are you Revolutionart s-off or HTCdev Unlocked? ('coz you'll have to flash the boot.img separately in case its the latter) Can you post the details you see on the bootloader screen?

Yes, booted normally after factory restore/nandroid restore and all running now.
Now question is if I should change the HBOOT to 0.98.2000 or it can remain 6.98.1002 as now?

Don't fool around just yet. If you're S-off, and running a custom ROM normally, you don't have to worry about what hboot you have right now. Just keep using your phone normally.
You're full of adrenaline right now... so you may be feeling a little adventurous, but close this thread, go have a drink, and forget about all this right now - there is no need for you to muck around with the hbbot. Come back to this later and read all guides you can to understand more about hboots, RUUs, misc_version, CID, goldcard etc. This will further your understanding of how things interplay with each other on our device.
Right now, you just need to celebrate.
No more dev today. Kapish?

P.S : Congratulations!!

Well, only a moderator can close a thread.
You can rename and edit the title easily though (One of the perks of being the OP!!). Go to the first post, and click on EDIT. When the edit window opens, there is an option at the bottom that says GO ADVANCED. Click on that. Now it will present you with the thread title as editable.. Add the prefix [SOLVED] before the title of your thread. Click SAVE CHANGES, and you're done!

ENG bootloader (0.76 needed for CM6) extended fastboot commands.

I took hboot 0.76.2000 from toast's root nand unlock part2 and put it in a new PC36IMG, so that those who installed unrevoked forever can get the extended fastboot commands back.
NOTE: This is only for unrevoked forever users.
Tested to work if flashed from hboot (bootloader)
Not tested in recovery.
NOTE 2: Make a nandroid backup.
Place file on root of sdcard, power off your phone, then power on your phone by holding volume+down and pressing+holding the power button until the white bootloader appears. Press volume up once asked to install the bootloader.
NOTE 3: For those experiencing being stuck in bootloader, you can boot into recovery, flash your current ROM again, (without data wiping) OR just restore a nandroid backup. Flashing a custom kernel will also get you out of the loop. I'm going to go ahead and assume flashing anything other than hboot iwll get you out of the loop.
This will NOT wipe your device, however, backing up is always recommended.
UPDATE: It appears as though everyone is getting stuck in bootloader after this procedure. You can get out of this by reflashing your current ROM (without wiping) and/or restore a nandroid backup. Some have reported errors when trying to restore a nandroid backup. YMMV
Karadorde has put together a package that works. Read his instructions below:
First and foremost it seems that if you get stuck in the Bootloader (no matter what method you are using) then your Nandroid backups are broken. I don't know that anyone has been able to successfully restore from one of those yet.
The file in the OP allows you to apply just the engineering HBOOT.img (hboot_0.76.2000.img) This works flawlessly for some but not so well for others.
The file in Post 71 and Post 91 allows you to apply a full PC36IMG.zip that contains the engineering HBOOT.img (hboot_0.76.2000.img) This is a fix for some who have gotten stuck in the Bootloader after using the file from the OP. At the same time this has also caused the some of the same issues people were having with getting stuck in the Bootloader from the OP. This file will not downgrade any part of your phone, however, it will wipe the phone. Also it is reported that it broke root on one phone. I believe this only happened to one person, need confirmation on if it happened to multiple.
If you get stuck in the Bootloader you can re-flash your Kernel to fix the issue. Not sure if this works with the stock Kernel or if you have to have a custom Kernel. Looking for feedback on this.
If you get stuck in the Bootloader reflash your current rom. Need feedback on this as well.

He's talking about the fastboot commands, the commands you run when you reboot your phone and set your as "fastboot". Here's some commands you've probably seen if you've tried flashing a custom kernel:
Code:
fastboot flash zimage zImage
fastboot reboot

Adding on to this, you probably only need fastboot commands if you're planning on doing some serious rom development.

one slight thing I am confused on now with unrevoked forever available.
Is it possible to flash the ENG boot without changing the PRI ?
for example:
- stock 2.1 evo / 1.40 pri
- unrevoked 3 + unrevoked forever
- still on 1.40 pri
- flash ENG boot without 1.34 pri, leaving the 1.40 pri
?
I would like to know the same thing.

You seem in the know, so I'm asking you... I ran unrevoked forever, it said it was successful, but my HBOOT stayed as ENG HBOOT .76. Is that correct or did I screw up unrevoked somehow?
Thanks for this. I flashed the wrong damned pc36img.zip (thought I was flashing the one that had rooted 1.47) to get back to a sense rom from cm6 to do the pri hackery and had upgraded hboot.
Now that my pri's fixed I'd rather have S-OFF and the engineering hboot than sit here and reset my phone another 20ish times to get 1.40 pri back after re-flashing the engineering image!

HTC Sensation 1.27 stuck at boot screen after rom change

HTC Sensation 1.27 stuck at boot screen after rom change
Yes yes, and another noob reporting for duty after screwing up the rom proces, it took me about 6 hours today after dozens of guides, broken links, outdated software and offline sites to get my phone rooted and i thought, well, a custom rom would be nice too.
So i tried the rom for Sensation from codenamelungo.net copied the zip on my sd card, installed it from recovery and now im stuck at the htc screen and being the noob that i am i ofcourse did not make a backup and have no clue what to do now
If someone could explain to me in simple words how i can fix this?
My recovery is CWM v5.8.0.9
*** UNLOCKED ***
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.27.000
eMMC-boot
I did the:
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Wipe Cache Partition
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
formatted everything.
Tried relocking it and factory reset but all it does is then booting in recovery menu nonstop on every option i choose.
Another day:
Been on the internet again since i woke up and this is driving me insane, i read many posts with solutions but ofc they dont work for my version or phone damnit. I always have this kind of stuff, why didnt i have the Sensation where stuff go easy, at this point i am hoping to get it to stock again and not ever gonna try flashing custom rom.
I just finished up a couple readings about RUU files which ofc is also driving me insane.
My cid is HTC_e11
version-main 3.33.401.55
So i googled and typed in what was suggest on a post on this forum RUU Pyramid 3.33.401.55 and the only result it links me to is this website in showthread.php?t=1919969
I dl the zip file and what is in it, not 1 .exe file while all posts talking about restoring through ruu talk about a ruu.exe
Pfff, ive read so many posts now on this website and other solutions over the internet i can't even think straight anymore so gonna take a break, was really happy getting a smart phone but i enjoyed 30 min so far ><
Surely hope some1 can assist me with this dilemma

Blank, so no devices

OKAY [ 1.491s]
writing 'recovery'
Okay [8.510s]
finished. total time: 10.004s

You should be able to flash any Rom based on your current firmware. Regarding roms the only difference between s-on and s-off is that you cannot flash boot.img from recovery.
For s-on, either you need smartflash, or a manual flash of boot.img via fastboot flash boot boot.img
This is applicable as long as firmware is same.
Happy to help.

[Q] Phone won't boot pass cyanogenmod logo screen

I was trying to add and remove some files in the fonts section of my phone. I replaced a file from a file that was online and put the original file into my sd card then changed the new file's permissions, then I rebooted my phone... It won't go pass the cyanogenmod logo and I would like to know if I can somehow go thru recovery mode, find those files and change them back?
If I can't what are my options?

I'm new to this but, re-flashing will wipe everything in my phone besides the sd card right?
If so, I would like to avoid that if i can... as I do not have a back up of my contacts and a few other things that maybe automatically saved onto the phone's internal memory. Is there any other way?
Thanks!

This will only put back all the system files and the ones you deleted.

Ok I don't have the sd card with the original cyanogenmod 9 ROM zip file i used but, would either of these work properly?
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=stable&device=pyramid
Or do I need to do more digging as to which one is the right one?
Thanks

Cyanogenmod 9.0 last I remember. If I download the 9.1, would there be any problems or items deleted? (asking just in case)
Thank you.

Hi,
It is important to find the original ROM.
If you use a different ROM there may be a risk of wiping your data and settings.
Using the original ROM will make sure everything stays as it is.
Check in about phone.
It should tell you the ROM build number.

I would like to look into the about section of the phone but since it will not go pass the CM logo I dont know how, unless there is another way.
However, I did notice the CM logo says cyanogenmod 9 when it stops booting up. Does anyone know if the 9.0 & the 9.1 logo looks exactly the same or the shown 9.0 is the ticket?
Thanks.

Something to ponder over: Do a full nandroid backup.
Pickup any CM version higher than the one you had (10/10.1/10.2).
Flash it over your previous installation without wipe.
This way if it does delete your data, you can alwasy go back. Otherwise you have a better os. Win win.
I was thinking the sammmme thing! Ha! This might be a good time to back up my stuff and to learn how to do a nandroid backup as well.... And possibly have a better OS. Like u said, win win.
If I have any probs I will be back.
Oh yea question, I'm unclear about the firmware and kernel. Wouldn't that need to be matched up or updated with the newer CM version?
Thanks.

Ok cool, thanks.
I took a nandroid backup on recovery mode.
Looks like CM 10.1.2, jellybean 4.2.2 is going to be my choice. I hope this work! :good:
I found this thread that says I will need to flash gapps and Goo.im repo too, do I need both?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115520
Thanx
[edit]
Nevermind after reading 15 pages on that thread I found the answer on the second post of this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181751
Looks like I don't need gapps or that other one since I'm updating from the same base.
Thank you everybody for your help! The upgrading to CM10 worked and I didn't lose a thing. I had to change my apn setting because my Internet/data and mms wasnt working, and had to delete & reinstall a few apps because of the "unfortunately <app> has stop working" error kept popping up.... Other than that, everything so far is good. I pressed the thanks button for each of you.

[Q] Oh no what have I done?!

Hi folks.
I'm in a tough situation with my sensation. Firstly I should mention that I am totally new to the cell modding scene and only heard of rooting, s-off etc a few days ago. Anyway, I was given this phone in a locked state and followed a guide on this site to root it and s-unlock it. All went well and I was able to unlock it so it would run on the network of my choice. Anyway the problem starts when I got a automatic update option to a newer version of software. I went with it and after installation I got stuck at the green on white "HTC" screen. At first I thought; "No worries,I'll just use the recovery feature to roll back to when I first installed". Whoops, no good! Entering recovery just sends me to a screen where the Android dude has a weird polygon spinning in front of him and then I get stuck at the HTC screen again. So I tried a factory reset and I get the same problem.
So basically I seem to be soft bricked with very limited options. I just want any form of android running again so if anyone can help me I'd greatly appreciate it. Let me know if you need any more details.

do you have a custom recovery installed?
flash 3.33 universal firmware from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
follow the instructions to the letter
and before flashing check md5 sums(important)
after that flash stock rom(if you want) or any custom rom custom recovery
for stock rom link in my signature
my thought is that the update installed ics rom but your hboot version is stiil on gingerbread
that's why your rom couldn't boot at all
also if you have custom recovery in any case the update would never applied

Hey man first of all, thanks for taking time to help
Umm yeah custom recovery... I wish I could give you a definitive answer but the truth is I did multiple mods to the phone that night and all of them were new to me. I was following a detailed guide from this (excellent) site and in the process have become pretty confused about what I actually did. EEP. I know, right!!!
Anyway onto the matter at hand, can you tell me how to check the md5 sums? I see the numbers and letters there but I'm not sure what to do with them.

since you can't boot to OS and check from there the md5 sums download md5 checker and install it to pc
with md5 checker choose the firmware.zip and it will display you a row of numbers and letters(md5 sums)
check it with the one from the download link and see if it matches
if it matches then it is good to install it
if it shows you a different md5 sums then redownload 3.33 universal

Its 2am here in New Zealand and i'm having trouble concentrating so I think i'll leave it for now and try again after a good sleep. Thanks for you help. I'll let you know how I get on :fingers-crossed:
Right so I tried those steps this morning and made some serious progress. The md5 sums checked out and I was able to install the new 3.33 firmware. I also have access to the recovery console again. The problem I'm having now is rather then getting stuck on the HTC screen when I boot up, I'm instead stuck in a boot loop where it gets to the HTC screen and starts again. I've tried clearing the cache and dalvik as suggested in that link but that didn't seem to make a difference.

Ok I took your advice and went with viperS. Installed easy and no trouble booting. Only problem now is my prepaid simcard is causing it to crash. With simcard out I have no troubles but with simcard in, after I enter my sim pin, I get this message... "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped". When I push ok the message disappears and reappears about a second later. Any ideas? We seem to be getting very close to full functionality again!!

Ok thank you. I had already tried wiping the cache and dalvik after reading about others having a similar problem. I'll try reloading the ROM after work though, Cheers.
Ok I wiped everything and downloaded and installed the ROM again after checking md5. Still the same problem though. I wiped the cache and dalvik again just in case but still coming up with the same issue. I read somewhere to clear the phone and sim cache under the app settings so I tried that too but still failure...Is it time to try a different ROM? If so could you recommend another good one please. It would be a shame though cos this viper one is really slick.

[Q] HTC one S brick

Hello,
I'm new here but today I tried to root my phone and put CM10 on it. Rooting was not that hard but with flashing the rom I had some problems. I used a tutorial from youtube "Htc One s jellybean 4.2.2 Nightly Cm10.1 Rom" and did everything as he said but when I tried to boot CM it came in a boot loop so I restored my backup and everything was back normal again. But I thought i'll give it another try so I did that and it still didn't work so I restored (via recovery) and at the end it said: It appears your phone isn't rooted do you wanna do it now...(or something like that)? I found that a bit strange but I clicked yes but now if I boot up my phone first you just see "HTC - quietly brilliant" and then the red letters come beneath it saying its a developers version. I Couldn't do anything so I jumped into my bootloader and did factory reset but now everything is gone and I still have that booting problem,
I can acces bootloader and recovery mode but that's it
I really need my phone soon and don't have much time to look on the internet for solutions so could you please help me?
Thanks in advance!!
Lennard
Do you have the RUU for your phone? Maybe that would be the quick fix to take it back to stock. You can use an RUU that's equal or newer than what you have currently.
BTW: I went through this as well.

Do you remember doing any of the following?
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe dalvik cache
I think that was my problem that I didn't wipe the cache completely. Possibly a bad download too. Do a search on md5. It's basically a check to see if your download is ok before flashing.
As far the RUU is concerned, it will take you back to stock. You will need the info that appears when you start the phone up by holding down VOL DOWN and POWER. Hold down volume down, then press the power for a second or 2. Then it will boot up into HBOOT.
Write down the info that appears and search for a matching RUU equal or newer.
What is the carrier???

For RUU you need stock recovery and "locked" BL. Please read the guide again and only proceed, if you're sure you got it.
Another question:
You said you got a working recovery? Which version do you use? And have you tried install another custom rom.zip? That would be more easy and safe to you. May be your storage got corrupted and thats why your phone crashed and you can't install the rom.zip stored on the sd-card. You could connect the phone to your pc as mass storage via recovery, format it and put a new customrom.zip on it. By the way, why you installed such an old rom? You can use CM11 for sure
