[APPS & Review] PDF "annotator" and viewer on the Note - MY solutions again! *g*
And again: Good evening folks!
This is some other “hey I have too much time, let´s post something on XDA” Stuff This chapter is about some good working PDF-Apps for our SGNotes!
I really don´t know if there is anybody out there reading a tons of PDFs & Ebooks as well (for university or going-so-sleep-reasons). Due to the size of my note and the ability to use it as an ebookreader as well, I was searching for Androids best PDF Apps (just for reading as well as for annotating stuff within PDF files).
And these are my results:
1.) Mantano Reader:
I LOVE the Mantano Reader! It is a bit expensive, but to me it´s definitely the very first choice when it comes to PDF and Ebook topics in Android. you can import nearly every filetype, it integrates them well into a nice looking databank where you can see how much percent of the book has already been read, it has a night mode (what saves battery pretty much), you can set up labels, you can highlight parts of the texts (and the highlighted parts are stored seperately & you are able to read only the highlighted parts of the text summed up
It is said that they are working on a newer version with backup & sync functions integrated...

2.) ezPDF Reader
This is a very good tool for working on PDF sheets...you can highlight texts, you can annotate them, make some comments or add some graphics. And the app always kindly asks you, if you want to make an annotated copy of the original file pretty helpful!

3.) SmartDevices PDF Reader
This is an app that I´ve just downloaded a fes hours ago and it seems just to be available in the samsung apps market, 'cause I can´t find it in the android market yet. The app itself looks a bit confusing in the beginning (not the most beautiful one), but it seems to have the functions of both apps (mantano reader & ezPDF) included! I need some more time with it, but it´s really fun to work with the pen here!
External Review
4.) Go Books
What should I say? The GO Team is doing a good job in every sense...coming from the VTL.Launcher, I just switched to GO Launcher with my note, because it seems to be the most stable one with minimum lag. The Ebook Reader is a joy to handle and really looks cool! I need some more experience here as well, so just test it out for yourself!
Market Link
Aaaand...that´s it for now!
...and if you like what you´ve just read, feel free to use the "thanks" button...feels so nice when the counter grows^^

Thanks for the info on smartdevices PDF reader! It seems to be the one that suits me the best cause it has the margin reduction function~

Smatdevice looks good but any highlighted text is covered. Cant read that part

Can´t check it out myself atm, but...are you sure that you are using the correct tool?
OT: Hellyeah, 300 posts^^ *shrug*

ezpdf Galaxy Note support & palm rejection
Ezpdf added galaxy note S pen functionality and extra settings (palm rejection) to their update today
i just tried the palm rejection setting , and , it is the same as in the S memo app (with firmware update LC1)....
where it doesnt take any input on the screen but from the s pen when in edit mode....
it is quite good but there is no way for pinch to zoom nor to scroll up/down left/right unless u exit edit mode.....

ebook,pdf,chm,pdb files

hi,
i'm a big fan of ebooks, need some help and advices with no experience of winmo devices
1: am wondering if winmo has program supporting these formats (mainly: pdf, chm, pdb)?
2: how long will it takes to open a large pdf file say ~100-150mb file, issit possible at all? limited by RAM?
3: any comfort reading on the rapheal screen?
thanks in advance!!!
51 read and no reply?
I am sorry to tell you, electronic books never work nice in TP, in my option
The screen of TP is high res but small, making the font is unreadable.
I strongly recommend you to get a iPhone or iPod touch.
It has comfortable screen and very nice PDF and PDB (iSilo) reader.
Hi,
My first post here so please go easy on me
Personally I see no reason to buy another ebook reader platform than my TP. Although the screen is not too big there's always the possibility to change the font's size to provide a well readable experience. The main programs I use are Mobipocket and eReader. They can be found here:
http://www.mobipocket.com
http://www.ereader.com
For pdf files the TP already has Adobe Reader LF factory installed. I don't know how long it will take to open large files, if at all possible.
Hope this helps,
Jan

What utter rubbish. Both myself and my g/f read ebooks on our TP and Diamond respectively. I have no problems with font size or resolution. Take a look at Mobipocket and see how you get on.
Not really used pdf for reading ebooks, have stuck to .pdbs and .prcs mostly. There are certainly pdf readers around.
hehe, some iPhone maniac answered the post
Of course you can read all ebook formats on your Raphael!
Pdf is just preinstalled, screen resolution is twice as high as iPhone, so text is clearly readble. You can use some good ebook readers on Windows Mobile platform as well, so there is no problem at all.
How long does it take to open 150MB pdf... well.... 150MB is not an ebook anymore, it must be 8 books in one or something But dont think you would have any problems. If you do, simply cut the playboy magazine pictures off it.
25MB (biggest ebook i got) opens in few seconds, and is easily accesible after.
Ram is not a problem, remember its 530MHZ processor with nearly 500 MB internal mem and unlimited external card storage. 3 years ago or so, desktop computers had parameters like this, and nobody complained about ebooks readibility then, so why should you now?
By the way, i sold iPhone after 2months of usage, bought HTC and im really really happy. (for most of the time )
Windows platform is versatile, and allows the user ingerention to all settings, while Iphone is overpriced, with closed architecture.
I use Microsoft Reader.
My favorite price... free... and reads everything.
and if you still consider iPhone consider this :

thanks for those who took thier time to reply...
i was considering TP as a quick reference...when i need it...
will be working as a surgeon soon,
that's why the books are>100mb
speaking of playboy ,
gave me an idea of even reading some e-mags with TP...
I prefer the MobiPocket Reader for reading prc files. I set it as following:
-black background
-lime font colour
-large font size,so I can read it with my eyes(not good so far) from distance of 1m
I bring it to fullscreen mode(Enter/Action) and start scrolling(zero botton). During scrolling the screen goes not off as it was in old versions,so it is perfect.

note taking apps revisited

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone's found anything new on the market lately in relation to taking notes. I'm looking for something with similar function to notability for the ipad if you know what that is. Basically it's kind of like evernote, except you can also write and draw in it and move stuff around and it's all integrated.
So far on android the most similar ones I've found are:
Evernote (no writing, pictures are not integrated with text)
Freenote (FC and makes me lose all my stuff sometimes and UI has a long way to go)
Antipaper (no typing)
ezPDF with blank pdf
For now I'm just using blank pdfs on ezPDF, but if someone else has a suggestion of an app I haven't heard of I would be eternally grateful. Thank you for your time.
best thing i have found is just using supernote in conjunction with 7/notes beta
and there is a new app called quill its on the front page of the market
used quill for a while. awesome app. you can even download it for free on the developer's webpage
Alright, I will check out the quill app, looks a lot like antipaper though. Thanks guys. Someone needs to jump on putting all these features together into one app. The transformer has so much potential!

I like writepad stylus better.
Stylus?
What stylus are you using? You get very acurate notes with small writing.

Most likely the adoinit Jot
Quill is a decent application.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Yea I need to know what stylus you're using. I have a couple including the adonit jot (which i think sucks btw, it skips like crazy for me) and I can't write nearly that small. I've also tried writepad, quill, supernote, and other similar apps. I purchased the TF for the purpose of note taking and I can't take accurate, efficient notes for the life of me
Pretty sure goodintentions uses an adonit jot, but the skipping issue I have, and what I do is use saliva between the stylus and the disc. I think goodintentions said he uses a conductive gel of some sort, but what happens is that there is a gap between the disc and the ball sometimes, and a dielectric in there improves it a lot (because ANY dielectric is better than air).
https://www.asuswebstorage.com/navi...=7xQ6xK8GnzD005WBxv15Iyx2JKtV+2hkLUQeTNLynsk=
goodintentions uses zoom while writing so the letters are not that small. If your Jot is skipping use gel toothpaste instead of saliva.

onenote mobile for andorid : The most anticipated note app is here

One of the most anticipated app for android from microsoft is here
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.microsoft.office.onenote
Gag /10char gag
shows as incompatible for the n7000 =(
Installed from the market just fine for me. I used the web market, YMMV. FYI, I'm in U.S. on Criskelo v6.
Thanks for the heads up. You need a Windows Live ID to use it, but I do have some work shared One Note files that would be nice to use on the mobile. I find it a rather odd move for MS, considering that ( the built in office integration) would be the ONLY selling point I mention to my clients when they discuss purchasing a Windows 7 Phone...
Does not support sketching on notes.
Any feedback on its comparative analysis with Evernote?

Bah. The is really too little too late from MS. I'm still looking for that perfect cloud synced app. I use SMemo a lot, but also lose pages every now and again when I flash / crash / nandroid.
Doesn't even support viewing ink from the PC version of onenote. This happened with the office web apps when they first came out, but they eventually updated them to support the viewing of ink. Hopefully this will all come in time. I'm glad that Microsoft realized that android is a real platform that isn't going away and that they are putting some effort into development now. If they can make it usable enough such that I use my 500 note limit I will gladly pay the fee. For now it's their challenge to develop that usability.

I noticed this, not able to view files made on tablet pc. Probably 50% of my notes are in ink.
How do you highlight text and choose fonts, and seems very basic?
I agree . Very disappointed with what MS has come out with
missing so many features
- Does not show handwritten notes.
- Notes made only go to personal web folder and not in the folder that i make a new one
- Selecting fonts and stuff like that are missing
- cannot add files
- no handwritten notes possible.
and many many more.

Evernote client, PDF/text file reader, Clipboard reader for Gear 2

Hello everyone
I have just released my latest app: Gear Office to the Samsung Gear Store. It includes a Evernote client, a PDF/text file reader, and a Clipboard reader which gets clipboard from the phone.
Now, you can read your evernote notes, store them for offline use, copy app's text content and view them on your watch.
Some use case for the clipboard reader:
- Copy the whole website content, and view it on your watch (useful for things like tutorials, recipe instructions....)
- Want to view important notes from apps like Google Keep or Todoist on your watch? Copy the content to clipboard, then read it on your watch.
etc.... I hope this one will be useful.
Here's the full feature list:
- Reader:
Supports PDF/TXT file. For other file types like Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel … use the Clipboard feature to view the content.
Preserve structure of the Text documents.
Text extraction and reflow to fit the small screen.
Increase/Decrease the font size.
- Evernote:
Download notebooks.
Organize notes into notebooks.
View content of the note.
View notes offline without connecting to the phone. (Provided that the notes are downloaded once).
Preserve note structure.
Extract text from note so that it fits the small screen.
- Clipboard:
Get the latest text clipboard from the phone.
Store up to 10 clipboards. Provided that you have requested the clipboard once, you can view it even if the clipboard on the phone no longer exists.
Available for offline viewing.
Copy text from almost anywhere. As long as the the app you are using supports copy text, you can transfer the text to the watch without any problem.

Awesome! I've been hoping for an Evernote client for the watch. Does it sync 2-way? (ie- entry/edit from watch gets synced to cloud). Also if viewing a list with tickboxes, are the tickboxes displayed on the watch in a way that I can mark them complete?

First question: No, not at the moment. For the gear 2, using the keyboard on a watch is a terrible experience.
Second question: No, the app does translate the checkboxes into bullet points though. Initially, I added the feature, but figured out that most lists will include much more complex structure than just a list of items. So leaving the boxes there will break the layout of the note since the screen is pretty small. I may find a way to add it back, though.
Also, be aware that the app only extract text content from the note. Attachments, tables ... are ignored.
hi how is possible to have your app?
THX
Can I use it on my Galaxy Gear 1?
Do you plan to register it for use on the Note 4? I upgraded phones and cannot find your Gear Office app in the app market on my Note 4.

thanks
I have also upgraded to the Note 4 and cannot find your app on the Samsung App store...
Nice but
Can you post this for free? It is really helpful for studying but I can't buy it from my country...
How can I sort my txt files in alphabetic order? I tried to rename them but that wasn't the solution.

Hi,
This sound weird.
Some questions:
- Are you using the same files in both devices?
- Can you tell me the Android version of your TF700 device?
- Can you send me some screenshots of the problem and maybe one of the problematic comic files?
If you don't mind, please answer me to the support mail: [email protected]
Thanks.

there is really not thing to see as the screen is blank accept for the progress bar, the panel by panel icon, and the refresh icon.
will email you the file.
Just wanted to say that this app is OUTSTANDING. Exactly what I've been looking for. The one feature request I'd have is the ability to read from network storage -- is that possible?
FTP/SMB would be ideal, but simple cloud storage (dropbox, oneddrive, etc) would also be hugely appreciated as well.
Wow ... Really new experience.
Feels like reading them the old way as in paper comics.
I like it.
Thanks.
