note taking apps revisited - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone's found anything new on the market lately in relation to taking notes. I'm looking for something with similar function to notability for the ipad if you know what that is. Basically it's kind of like evernote, except you can also write and draw in it and move stuff around and it's all integrated.
So far on android the most similar ones I've found are:
Evernote (no writing, pictures are not integrated with text)
Freenote (FC and makes me lose all my stuff sometimes and UI has a long way to go)
Antipaper (no typing)
ezPDF with blank pdf
For now I'm just using blank pdfs on ezPDF, but if someone else has a suggestion of an app I haven't heard of I would be eternally grateful. Thank you for your time.

best thing i have found is just using supernote in conjunction with 7/notes beta
and there is a new app called quill its on the front page of the market

used quill for a while. awesome app. you can even download it for free on the developer's webpage

Alright, I will check out the quill app, looks a lot like antipaper though. Thanks guys. Someone needs to jump on putting all these features together into one app. The transformer has so much potential!

Writepad stylus.

I like writepad stylus better.

Stylus?
What stylus are you using? You get very acurate notes with small writing.

Most likely the adoinit Jot

Quill is a decent application.

Yea I need to know what stylus you're using. I have a couple including the adonit jot (which i think sucks btw, it skips like crazy for me) and I can't write nearly that small. I've also tried writepad, quill, supernote, and other similar apps. I purchased the TF for the purpose of note taking and I can't take accurate, efficient notes for the life of me

Pretty sure goodintentions uses an adonit jot, but the skipping issue I have, and what I do is use saliva between the stylus and the disc. I think goodintentions said he uses a conductive gel of some sort, but what happens is that there is a gap between the disc and the ball sometimes, and a dielectric in there improves it a lot (because ANY dielectric is better than air).

goodintentions uses zoom while writing so the letters are not that small. If your Jot is skipping use gel toothpaste instead of saliva.

Best and worst browsers.

Due to the lack of multi-touch the better browsers out there can be pretty limiting. So I wanted to share two Gems that I've found so far. Perhaps you'll like them too.

1) xScope (I use xScope GL (was the one from 1.6) and it works just as well in 2.1 without the whole "Trial" nonsense that xScope 6 likes to add to it.
With this you double tap, upon the second tap slide your finger right to zoom in and to the left to zoom out. This works, in my opinion, better than multi-touch zoom (no need for two hands~) and works really well.
It also has a quick menu where you can list your favorite sites and go from there. Browser is as fast or faster than those that are out there . And I mean, really. Who needs gestures?
2) Miui browser (Found this via xda's front page. If you don't check that often, do. The xda staff do an amazing job recommending kick-ass apps ^^)
For this one, it has the same type of "home" area like xScope and then some extra treats. The zoom works well too. Double tap to zoom in, double tap to zoom out. I just downloaded it a few days ago but it'll easily become my main browser. I'm still finding out neat things to do with it so it could get even better.
I should mention that miui is in beta as well as when you're adding your favorites sometimes they won't save right away. Exit and restart and they should be there. I've also found I can't remove the Music short-cut but >.>; Should work eventually (in an update?)
But yes, give them a try - you probably won't be disappointed. (Although some of you are married to skyfire - i'd say use it when you know you'll be visiting flash movies sites )
For the worst
1) Firefox 4 beta 2 -
Slowed my phone down to TAR. Really really bad. Looks nice though (albeit a bit too much of a clone of dolphin hd) but what it does to Xperia is well... enough to make me uninstall asap.
thank you for the recommendations. i just tried xscope and i have to say, im impressed haha. i tried dolphin browser and hated it. there was just too much going on. i love the simplicity of xscope and the zoom is rather intuitive
Miui translated is really good. I downloaded it a few days ago and it is the best browser i used so far..

Xscope is the sh*t. I ended up buying the full version (the demo graphic was really annoying).

[APP] SudoTape . A measurement/note taking tool

I finally finished my first Android app.

Basically SudoTape lets you mark up images on your device, images either saved on the device externally or using the built-in camera intent.
I found that being a code monkey most my life my writing with those ancient things calls pens and pencils sucks. Recently I found I needed to take some notes for measurements of things in my house and found I couldn't read my own damn writing so I thought, "Why can't I just take a picture of what I want to measure and just draw on the picture"?
This is the premise for SudoTape.

The app is free so it costs nothing to try it out. Your device doesn't need a camera in order to use the app even if the market suggests a camera is required.
Just curious what became of this app? I'm looking for an app for photo markup and this might have fitted the bill. Not available in the Canada play store though.

I haven't had time to update the app, it was frozen in time on Android 2.3 or something ancient. The entire camera functionality changed since I wrote the app so much of the camera functionality didn't work, or didn't work well enough to keep it in the store. I was getting tons of negative reviews so I just pulled it.
Not sure if I'll ever get back to updating it.. last I looked there were a bunch of similar apps out there so maybe you'll find something that will do what you want.
Funny thing is, it's harder than you'd think to find a really good photo markup app.
* SnapMarkup comes close but lacks text boxes
* Nimbus seems a bit overboard....

Too bad, I liked how the app worked.. Since I can't read my bloody writing anymore I used it a lot when doing some changes around the house. Sadly the SDK around the camera was in TERRIBLE shape, Android 2.X was a mess at the time with each manufacturer doing their own thin in regards to retrieving images from the camera. It made it a nightmare to try and debug and hack through all the different odd behaviors.
Chances are though, even if I managed to rewrite the camera portion to use the new SDK the whole UI is also frozen in time with the notion of having a menu button (which almost no phones do now).
Maybe some day, but not anytime soon. Thanks for the interest though.

[APPS & Review] PDF "annotator" and viewer on the Note - MY solutions again! *g*

[APPS & Review] PDF "annotator" and viewer on the Note - MY solutions again! *g*
And again: Good evening folks!
This is some other “hey I have too much time, let´s post something on XDA” Stuff This chapter is about some good working PDF-Apps for our SGNotes!
I really don´t know if there is anybody out there reading a tons of PDFs & Ebooks as well (for university or going-so-sleep-reasons). Due to the size of my note and the ability to use it as an ebookreader as well, I was searching for Androids best PDF Apps (just for reading as well as for annotating stuff within PDF files).
And these are my results:
1.) Mantano Reader:
I LOVE the Mantano Reader! It is a bit expensive, but to me it´s definitely the very first choice when it comes to PDF and Ebook topics in Android. you can import nearly every filetype, it integrates them well into a nice looking databank where you can see how much percent of the book has already been read, it has a night mode (what saves battery pretty much), you can set up labels, you can highlight parts of the texts (and the highlighted parts are stored seperately & you are able to read only the highlighted parts of the text summed up
It is said that they are working on a newer version with backup & sync functions integrated...

2.) ezPDF Reader
This is a very good tool for working on PDF sheets...you can highlight texts, you can annotate them, make some comments or add some graphics. And the app always kindly asks you, if you want to make an annotated copy of the original file pretty helpful!

3.) SmartDevices PDF Reader
This is an app that I´ve just downloaded a fes hours ago and it seems just to be available in the samsung apps market, 'cause I can´t find it in the android market yet. The app itself looks a bit confusing in the beginning (not the most beautiful one), but it seems to have the functions of both apps (mantano reader & ezPDF) included! I need some more time with it, but it´s really fun to work with the pen here!
External Review
4.) Go Books
What should I say? The GO Team is doing a good job in every sense...coming from the VTL.Launcher, I just switched to GO Launcher with my note, because it seems to be the most stable one with minimum lag. The Ebook Reader is a joy to handle and really looks cool! I need some more experience here as well, so just test it out for yourself!

Aaaand...that´s it for now!
...and if you like what you´ve just read, feel free to use the "thanks" button...feels so nice when the counter grows^^
Thanks for the info on smartdevices PDF reader! It seems to be the one that suits me the best cause it has the margin reduction function~
Smatdevice looks good but any highlighted text is covered. Cant read that part
Can´t check it out myself atm, but...are you sure that you are using the correct tool?
OT: Hellyeah, 300 posts^^ *shrug*
ezpdf Galaxy Note support & palm rejection
Ezpdf added galaxy note S pen functionality and extra settings (palm rejection) to their update today
i just tried the palm rejection setting , and , it is the same as in the S memo app (with firmware update LC1)....
where it doesnt take any input on the screen but from the s pen when in edit mode....
it is quite good but there is no way for pinch to zoom nor to scroll up/down left/right unless u exit edit mode.....

Case + Notebook + Pen Slot?

Did a quick search and didn't find what I was looking for.
I'm in the Navy and I keep PDFs of all important instructions on my Note 8. I use it all the time at work. I go to a lot of meetings and take notes on a regular 5.5 x 8 inch notepad, I have sticky notes, highliters, and an assortment of pens with me. Im looking for a case that will hold my Note 8 on one side, my notepad on the other side, ans still have slots for pens.
When I first got this I ordered what I thought was exactly what I described above on Amazon. When I got it, turns out the dimensions weren't exactly accurate . It's simply too big to walk around with all day. It's more of what I'd picture an art student would carry around.
I'm looking for something compact, not much bigger than the Tablet itself but with room on the opposite side for a notepad and slots for pens.
Im kicking around a few ideas on Amazon but im afraid to order without the opinion of someone who owns and uses one with the Note 8, in fear of another poor purchase.
Thanks everyone!!
I've been using one of the green "leader book" holders from Rite in the Rain for a little while now; item number C9200A. It's not perfect, and I haven't figured out a way to keep the Note 8 really secured in the binder itself, but there are several pen slots which are big enough to hold a highligher/sharpie/etc, and a few other slots and pockets for smart cards or anything else. And the dimensions are perfect for holding the tablet.
The ones we get from supply (I'm Army btw), come with a packet of inserts that has graphed notebook paper, and fillable pages for things like a 9-line MEDEVAC request, call for fire request, unexploded ordinance, and others. Some of it might be Army specific, but I'm sure you could find it useful too
Anyway, I've been in the same boat as you for awhile, and besides finding some "tactical" (lol) iPad Mini cases/binders, I haven't been able to find much. Let me know if you find something better!

This is one other I was looking at, but it doesn't look like it has any room for a notebook. We don't have a supply! But I'll look into what you posted and keep on looking for something. Right now I got a nylon foldable case from the Chaplains that's working well, but having the same problem as the tablet not being totally secure.
Also, it's big!
Thanks for the input!
I use this one. I don't use the planner, but the notepad on top. I then insert the tablet into the pouch below.

Question Which note app?

Hi, do you guys use Samsung Notes as note taking apps? The app is quite good for simple notes, but if you want something a bit more complex it lacks in features.
For example, I'm missing drawing shapes (circles, rectangles). It would help for studying and drawing graphics.
I looked google play gor some apps, but couldn't find one that merge handwriting, text and shapes. The best one I could fins was Flexil, but it doesn't have shapes, it just correct a shape you draw (so you draw a lame ass circle and it makes into a perfect circle), but i still need several tries before getting what I want.
Anyone recommend me an app that merge those 3 features?

Indeed. It is not as good as I wanted, but I think it's enough. Being able to resize after drawing is good. I just don't understand why I can't use the eraser to erase after the Autofix kicks in...
Also, I don't understand why the drawing space doesn't go all the way from top to bottom of the screen. This reduces the effective are. And if you zoom in to fit the whole screen you have to drag the screen to the sides in order to reach all the page, since you can't increase only in Y axis.
Anyway, gonna use Samsung Notes for now. If someone finds a better app, please share with us.
